I get your confusion but I'd recommend looking back at the earlier pages where Ace's girlfriend used her magical brooch where she commanded him to be more girly and accepting it. I get why it seems rushed but I think showing the in-between times for his transformation would've been boring considering he wouldn't be noticing/ignoring the changes. even in a few pages back, it's been told that months have passed and he hadn't made a fuss about his body becoming like that? you can see that he's happily doing his job and apparently being "captain material". I think this scene is supposed to indicate that he's considering his options, what he was and what he has become. and I'm thinking that there's going to be a scene where he either tries to fight back or just accepts the changes. I hope this clears some things :)
