June Billing Paused - Patreon Viability in Question (Patreon)
Content
I was anticipating being able to get back to work on art soon after moving, but it seems like a never ending stream of disruptions.
It's way more pleasant at the new unit, it just needs a lot of work(previous tenants were college dudes).
- We had an electrical outlet for our washing machine just stop working, turns out it was wired backwards.
- I used my own outlet tester(once I found it while unpacking) to check the rest of the outlets in the unit. THREE outlets have an open ground, which is quite dangerous. So, the electrician will need to be called... again.
- Upstairs toilet guts were wore out and the water supply shut off wont close all the way so I had to work around using vise grips to clamp the hose to make the toilet work again.
- We're painting over the DISGUSTING shit brown color someone thought looked nice. The lighter color takes multiple coats to cover, which is taking some time.
- I've been caulking up huge cracks around trim and windows to keep bugs out.
- All the blinds' pull strings were bundled up in wads instead of tied in a knot or trimmed so that's a 10 minute session of de-knotting(hehe) for each freaking window.
- The cabinet shelves are pressed particle board from the 70s so those will need to be replaced unless we want our dishes/toiletries covered in sawdust all the time. Some can be mitigated with shelf liner.
- I need to trim a half inch off the bottom of my office door so it doesn't rub on the carpet or get stuck on my rug.
My SO's favorite aunt died a few days ago and now her cycle is late, hopefully just from stress. If there's more than one line on the pee stick you guys may not hear from me for some time.
Meanwhile, my job requires more and more of my attention and focus. I have to hire two people and get them trained(including the new bullshit that isn't even official yet). Then I have to give them enough time to study and pass a federally required exam for one of the services.
I get tiny little windows of time to draw, but it's difficult for me to jump in and focus on art with so much going on all the time. I end up using it to rest. I'm chipping away at all the bullshit though. I'll get a month or two of stability before all hell breaks loose again. I keep making the mistake of thinking my life will stabilize enough to keep a consistent patreon page content stream going, so I'm currently questioning it's viability.
I've talked about doing a "per creation" patreon page in the past. Maybe I should finally actually go through with that.
I've paused billing for now because I haven't posted new art(one WIP) in over a month now.
My next post will be art, or I wont post.
