In my opinion this follows the Red Lights storyline (well ONE of them 😂). Red Lights Korean title is 강박 (translates to Compulsion), and one of its many meanings was that it represented Chris & Hyunjin's obsessions with work (music production for Chris & dance for Hyunjin). In Red Lights, one theory is that Chris was the "person" and Hyunjin was his inner self that represented the compulsion. In that video they go back & forth battling & vying for power and control over each other and at the very end Hyunjin chokes Chris representing the power he held over Chris. So in Escape, to me, if you follow that theory from the Red Lights m/v (that Chris is the person and Hyunjin is representing Chris' inner compulsion), then in this video it looks like that instead of battling with his (Chris) inner compulsion demon (Hyunjin) still, he's now chosen to accept it, love it, play/have fun with it, and in the end ultimately harness it for greater power together instead of fighting against it (like they were in the Red Lights m/v) if that makes sense.

I love a good mv theory as much as the next person but sometimes something is just GAY lol "werewolves and magic and homosexuality" 😂 For real though, the mv is so well done and I love the allusions to Red Lights, even inserting some actual shots from that video. Also the Romeo + Juliet fish tank reference! And their acting is on point, all their emotions are so believable. The song itself is amazing, their vocals are so gorgeous - the falsettos!
