I just want to say that Troy's words actually is not about his friends or girlfriend, what happened in this movie is the fact that he's confused about what he really wants for his future. Sharpay ended up putting pressure on him to decide but he needs more time and without the opinions of everyone. That's why in the 3rd movie he figured it alone. His character it's all about growing and challenging himself with new things.
