Hi Esosa and Özlem. Firstly I want telling you I'm so much enjoying your reactions for Exo. And I'll give some info. EXO debuted in 2012 with 12 members and the song "MAMA". In 2013, they released "Wolf" followed by "Growl". (The members didn't want to sing "Wolf" at all, which is why they sang the demo so badly.) In 2014, Kris and Luhan left the group, saying that SM Entertainment wasn't paying enough attention to the Chinese members. The 2015 song "Call Me Baby" featured 10 members. However, Tao later left the group at his father's request due to serious injuries.

Meanwhile, EXO has two unit groups: EXO-CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin) and EXO-SC (Sehun, Chanyeol). EXO also has its own reality show (EXO's Ladder World Tour). I can write more if you want.

"those are 20 thousand people" is killing me

Exo hated the song when they first heard it and sang extra bad on the demo in hopes of not getting it. But SM chose it anyways haha The demo is so funny.

The debut is MAMA. Wolf came after. They also had a few pre debut songs like What is love.

Thank you! What subunits are EXO-K and EXO-M? Korean unit and Chinese unit maybe?

Asya

Yes, EXO originally was intended to be split into EXO-K (Korean unit - Suho, D.O, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun) and EXO-M (Chinese unit with Chen, Xiumin and Chinese members - Lay, Luhan, Tao and Kris), who would come together as EXO. That’s why in their debut MVs Mama and History there are always two versions and only 6 members are signing in each

(From a Korean perspective) “Wolf” came out after EXO’s debut. (debut: MAMA) EXO were basically pioneers of the whole ‘universe/worldview’ concept in the idol industry, so their concept was intense and unapologetically bold. That’s actually part of why they became even more famous. By the time “Growl” was released, they had become an idol group that literally everyone in the country knew. That was when I was in middle school(Korea)—back then, I watched EXO every single day. They also have a song called “Overdose,” and there’s clapping in the intro. Students at school would imitate it all the time, clapping and doing it everywhere in the classroom.
