I really relate to what you were saying towards the end. It's already hard for me to decipher what people mean in everyday life, but with comments, it becomes especially difficult to figure out what peoples' intentions are.

At the end when you were talking about I guess sometimes feeling overwhelmed with all the information you're collecting on all these people you're keeping up with and what that means for your identity, I get it. If I understood you correctly, that is. I've been a Stay since 2020 and kpop [via SKZ] is my only experience with being so invested in an artiste(s) life outside their music. And I don't mean looking up things that they don't reveal in their content, because that is crazy town. I just mean all that we get thru their many contents and interviews is so much I can't even fathom people who do this with multiple kpop groups. Being a multi-stan only makes sense to me in the context of how that works with all the artistes I love outside of kpop. That list is loooong and it spans many genres of music. For each of them I know a ton of their music, among my faves I know all their music. But I only know a few tidbits about them as people from some interviews they may do around promotion time. And though I know it just scratches the surface, Straykids [and I imagine other kpop] groups give us way more access beyond just the music and because I like them [or who I imagine them to be based on what I see] I want to keep up with it all, but that is time consuming and it also leads you to sometimes see them as part of your life. Well I guess they are, part of our lives, we just are not really a part of theirs in a real tangible way. As I'm typing I'm thinking that is how I keep the separation. I never lose sight of the fact I am a stranger to them. Sure, they love and appreciate Stay. But that's not my government name lol. I imagine Stay is like is like this faceless being that embodies all the love and support they get from these millions of fans over the world. They know we're real people, and they even know what some look like thru fansigns and concerts etc, but when they speak of Stay, which we all experience in a personal way, they are referencing a collective. I, the individual, am not knowable for them and me knowing that helps me maintain the necessary distance. And the longer I've been a fan the less I am compelled to watch every content as it drops. Or even to watch every content. I find SKZ entertaining so I still watch over 90% of what they put out but if I can't watch something I don't stress about it. This is just one of my many interests and I need time for them too. I need to have the full life I hope for SKZ all the time. I want love and I want the to find it too. I want time with my family like I want them to have with theirs too. I want my own brand of success like I want for them too. So balance must be maintained.

I completely understand what you mean and I would feel the same way. One reason I could never do something like this is because I am very affected by comments. So I admire you for pushing through it and being so open about your feelings. Even when I share my opinion in a post, people often start arguing without trying to understand what I actually meant. It stresses me out so much that I sometimes end up deleting the post just to stop it from escalating. I have lost sleep over it countless time. Even remembering some of them is still stressing me out. People often say just do not pay attention to the comments but realistically that is much easier said than done. Yes, you are building a community, but you would want it to be made up of like minded people. Otherwise why would you want to engage with people who are overly delusional. There is a clear line between harmless delusion and losing touch with reality especially when people project their fantasies onto real individuals and then get angry when reality does not follow the script they created in their heads. So no it is not easy at all.
