Hey hey! I had to leave the stream early and I just got a chance to catch up, I just wanted to share some thoughts on what Esosa mentioned during 2.0 around 1:01:00, Esosa, you said how because you are "new ARMY" (gurl, I know it may seem like you still have a long way to go, but you've been here for 4 years already, in any case you might be teenage army at the very least, LOLz, anywho) you don't get to experience what they mean when they say "they" are against us, and then Özlem mentions how everyone was against them, and how you won't ever get to live how it was back in the day, this might be my personal opinion, obviously, but as big as they are right now, there is still a TON of hate going on, people are still against them in many ways, just because they are big and famous the hate didn't necessarily go away, they and army, just got better at cancelling out the noise, literally, just for the comeback live, SK media and netizens gave them so much hate, government gave then such a hard time bc they chose to release on Netlflix, then they couldn't be there for literally more than 40 minutes, SK media are still hanging on at every thread you can possibly imagine to drag them down. They win an award? why didn't they win 2? Get a record? Took them long enough. Have people travel MILES to SK for BTS concerts? Hey! kpop is doing GREAT!, idk if you've seen any of the footage of the Mexican Palacio Nacional, after they went, back in SK, people started asking why Mexico was giving them royalty treatment when their own government and media only nit picked at the problems, mind you problems they aren't even responsible for. To this day, there are A LOT of haters on the internet that have our kitty right up there next to other famous people who are ACTUALLY convicted criminals, why? bc of the incident back in 2024. Something bad happens, they get blamed; something good happens? Its suddenly a comunal effort. Of course k-culture (music, dramas, movies, etc) are something that collectively moves SK's economy, but it's been proven, that BTS are a HUGE part of it. They managed to connect with people in a way others maybe others haven't, or haven't as much yet, I am sure they are not expecting a pat on the head for it, yet there are still getting borderline racists comments, there is always someone that goes, Hey! BTS is great, and someone will reply well, they didn't even *insert literally anything*. When you are that big, there will be people who love you and people who hate you, literally just because they can. Just to wrap up my yappery, hate may not be as loud as it once was, but believe me, it is very much still there, industry, media, crazy fans, keyboard warriors, I just think they are more mature now and handle it better, but it must be hard to feel so scrutinized all the time when you are just trying to make art. Anyway, my point about this, is, you might not be able to experience the hate they got back en the 2010s, but (I also wasn't here back then) there are people who were that swear, we had it way worse with a few recent incidents than back then. During they enlistment era, it felt like every other day was a battle, as you said, it truly is a bonding experience, and I don't wish you to experience it yourself, because we truly just want to fangirl about them instead of having to defend against something dumb 24/7. I don't even know what my actual point in all of this was, I just wanted to share how as someone who also wasn't here back in those days, still feels very much like a on duty soldier every once in a while. Hope that wasn't to much yapper on my side, just wanted to share :)

The ‘they’ BTS are talking about used to be more specific when they were younger with very specific beefs lol. Now, it’s industry wide. They’ve gotten too old to be digging up personal beefs but even the korean government stays on BTS’ asses it’s weird 😭 Literal goverment officials were making direct visits to their military bases (knowing damn well they acc can’t refuse or go anywhere to avoid them) and stayed harassing their families / parents to get them to endorse whatever they want them to endorse. All major K-pop companies using BTS’ name to try and get the same treatment during those military exemption talks even though bighit/ HYBE weren’t even present, they were inevitably the fall guys for that whole conversation. It’s just stupid shit ALL the time 😂 Thankfully the demand for BTS is just astronomical at this point and they’re rich af now because if not, it would actually be a marvel to me as to why they’d even bother continuing with THAT much pushback still. I have never in my entire time as a K-pop fan seen the ‘top group’ be treated like shit on someone’s shoes by the industry. Like all of what I’ve said above is supposedly after they made it and they should be enjoying the game they’ve accumulated but it’s just still shit 😭 The industry may play nice and suck up every now and then but it’s still so shady shady shady and it’s truly an age long old money v new money type conversation. I’m writing this at the 2.0 part so idk if it’s addressed for ‘they don’t know bout us’ but even the phrase ‘chonnom’ (country kids’ is somewhat derogatory. They’re taking ownership of it but during their ENTIRE come up, it’s been people shitting on them because they are JUST ‘country kids’ and that apparently makes them lesser. It’s gross 😭 I think they’re always going to have a chip on their shoulder slightly because they are still always going to be the ‘first’ to do things. They’re still currently going to be the face of K-pop and whatever shit people want to throw at it. That would be fine if the industry itself was accepting of them but since that’s not the case, I don’t expect them to be grateful to it. In 2.0 specifically, you’d have to have been around for all the ‘next BTS’ marketing / promotion when they were still actively winning all major awards with their solo eras. I don’t call myself an ARMY but BTS is the only group I could see myself supporting just out of solidarity at this point 😂 a lot of the forces against them are straight up things I don’t really fuck with so it’s not much deeper than that 😂😂 As someone who was here for ALL of their journey (though maybe not always so invested lol), it acc feels crazier now. As far as hate trains and media play goes, they only briefly had relief from it in 2017-2018 and it was VERY BRIEF to say the least. The group itself wasn’t even doing well emotionally / mentally in 2018 but I literally can’t think of a single ‘good year’ BTS has had throughout their entire career. They’ve always been winning but it’s always thankless it’s weird 😭

2024 was so bad, you guys are so lucky you didn’t get to experience any of that. It was so bad they were getting attacked left right center, the guys couldn’t even speak up for themselves they were in the military. We were so worried about their mental health, it was attack on after attack. Tbh they are better ppl then me cus I would have held onto so much grudges. Now that they are back everyone wants to play pretend. That’s one of the reason why sk media is getting no promo from them. They are finally putting their foots down.

I'm a multi and that question Esosa bring up is something that i also think about a lot. A lot of k-pop groups, even the new, the rookies, talk about haters and beating people, idk, like they have enemies or something. And maybe is because of the massive hate waves we as a society are experiencing or the cyber hate / bullying a lot of young people is growing up with. But again, that's just an assumption, BCS you're right with BTS, we know who, we know how much hate they receive, we know from where it's coming and it's a lot, the wound is so big that they can't just ignore it. I'm not saying i don't feel bad for other idols but I do think it's becoming kinda like a trend to be tough, cool, and have this attitude of 'i don't care', so lyrics get stylistics and not really meaningful. It's not something new in K-Pop either, and I'm not saying i don't like it, but yeah, BTS lyrics are coming from a different pov.
