I loved this! I always enjoy Jennie experimenting with different music and videos it always keeps us guessing! She is phenomenal!

My analysis for this video: With the constant narration and direction, Jennie is essentially positioning herself not just as the director of the music video but also as one who decides where the relationship goes and she's decided she doesn't want commitment. She keeps pulling back every time they are about to get more intimate, it's a physical pulling away in the video but I think it's a metaphor for pulling away emotionally, and she is very much the one directing the relationship and how her partner is supposed to act. If you stop and zoom in on the scene with her on the bed with papers around her, we see her sketches of what they should wear as a couple and a storyboard representation of how they are supposed to stand and hold hands etc. Then we literally see the same things play out at the beach with them wearing what she envisioned and her directing him to stand exactly on the spot she drew. The guy is very much a passanger in the relationship following Jennie's wishes, going where she pulls him etc. Even the way she keeps interrupting the music with the narration, I believe it's meant to be a little bit frustrating and to take you out of the experience, reminding you that it's a story you are watching and it's all Jennie's narrative, we are witnessing something she's meticulously trying to get under control, and even though she claims they should just be in the moment and be spontaneous without labeling things in the lyrics, her boundaries being too set in stone is actually having the opposite effect. However if the popular fan theory of her three unreleased songs - Less Than A Lover, Lock It Down and Heaven - being related and telling three parts of the same story is true, then she is going to end up losing the control she thought she could maintain haha. Because in Lock It Down the lyrics are about a full blown secret love affair where she is both saying she only wants him for the moment but also asking him to "lock it down", she is clearly starting to get confused about whether she DOES want commitment after all. And then Heaven is basically her admitting she's down bad and in love but now it's the other person who can't see that, turning their situationship toxic, but she still can't let go despite all the ups and downs. So many fans believe Lock It Down is the next single and Heaven the last, the three of them together telling the story of a summer fling she tried to keep at arm's length but ended up falling in love with and even experiencing heartbreak eventually.
