of my two planned future projects, "space furries" got bumped up on the list. joking with friends, researching idle/ 1-button games, and remembering a moon base tower defense prototype i made put all the right ingredients into place and a game loop came into view.

the game will be a base-defense shooter where you navigate a crosshair to aim and shoot at enemies wandering towards your landing pod. you'll be able to take 2 or 3 crewmates along with you, while collecting up to 9 in total. crew members can be assigned on-field or off-field roles-- each one giving a different player buff or enemy debuff while you fire away. things like treasure will spawn off the enemy's path and you'll have to take time out of defending your base to collect them before they disappear again.

the work for this one is fairly simple and straight forward, so i'll use it to supplement my main project whenever i need to take a break. i've already drawn most of the teammates, there's not need for any story more than a paragraph or two, and I probably won't even animate them much, if at all. just set up the game loop, create more levels, and tune the difficulty until it feels finished.
