Hello my wonderful fans and Patrons. As many of you might know, and may be experiencing, a new Skyrim update was released into the wilds today. Once again, we are hit with a modquake! Things breaking, mods needing updating, load orders being decimated.

How will this effect ColdSun's modding you ask? Well, like others, I did save my Skyrim completely on another drive as a backup in case this happened. So, I'm safe from the mess. That said, I think its about time I update my load order to a newer version of Skyrim. I'm currently on 1.597 and realizing I'm quickly being left in the dust with some of the new features announced in today's patch notes.

So, yes, there will be a delay in my more detailed mods of about 3-5 days as I compile this new load order and tweak my mods. I figure now, when others are also suffering from broken load orders due to unwanted updates, is a good time for me to do an update! Bear with me oh wonderful friends. I won't leave you high and dry. I'm still on schedule for replacers and presets. This will only delay the big mods with voices and more than 2 NPCs. I ask for your patience and understanding while I join the rest of you with a newer version of Skyrim.

Have a wonderful day!

Ruh roh... I'm also on 1.597.

One of the new features that interested me is the fact that I can add ESL flags to mods that aren't compacted for ESL due to them doubling the size of available records.

It totally destroyed my load order. I 'll basically shift delete everything and start over. I won't downgrade though. I'm so tired of this nonsense.

Update to my previous comment. This update after some investigation means the only way to play the game is 1.597 I believe. I don't know of any downgrade patcher to 1.640. There is a new patcher out just for it on Nexus. T late for me though. Already nuked everything for a fresh install. SKSE has already been updated though. I'll keep investigating before I do anything.

Robert Spencer

Ok after a lot of time on YouTube and Google search there is no patcher available at this time for 1.6.40. There is no new content added just some changes to how esl's work and few other things about Creation whatever the F!@# it is. So I believe you can roll it back to 1.5.97 and keep playing. It will take a few weeks for the modding community to get everything updated to new patch.

hello coldsun what for enb use you ?

Sphincks

I use 1.6.4, but also went totally offline and refused any updates. Did backups and the such. I'll just plod along and wait to see it all die down before I venture the possibility of any upgrade. I KNOW you have our back Heath and I'll patiently wait to see what happens :)

Pi-Cho ENB, Obsidian Weather, and Lux Lighting.

I will wait to update until you and my other mod author's update. All good here.

After the 1.6.4 update i made sure to never update ever again...my modlist is above 2,000 and it is working just fine..no way i do that all over again...

Revi Hurricane

Same here. I am well above 1000 on my modlist and like you, I made sure to turn off the automatic after the 1.6.4 update. I'm not going through another 3-4 weeks of downtime waiting for mods to update.

Got a new, monster laptop last summer. Still breaking it in. But made the call to get GoG's Skyrim (cuz Steam gets on my nerves). Just gonna wait to update anything. Learned that lesson the hard way.

It's okay, Coldsun. Thank you for sharing your idea with us. I'm sad, because I made my mod list of more than 1620 mods, in September, and now... I have nothing left :c I think I'll follow your idea and do the update, too - I'll stop with the downgrades....

Gureol

It's the right decision. It's all about playing the game the way we want, as I see it. And for us that's been playing the game since forever, 1.5.97 is still a very good choice and will be so for quite a while, I think. Looking forward to more mods from you!
