I've decided based on the unanimous results to post NSFW of Grave and Ellie for this month until I get my set up running again. I will resume comic pages as soon as I get the new PC built since I need it for the complex 3d backgrounds. I already got my license for the sketchup plugin reset, just need to get the sketchup license reset. PC case should be coming in today and I'm calling other shops to help me build it asap. Thanks everyone who commented for the words of encouragement.

Another update:

Case finally came in and PC parts are in a shop and will be ready to go tomorrow. I hope it goes smoothly tomorrow!

What's been going on:

My PC had been working fine, no slow downs, just some lag with the internet browser. Next day, hard drive fails. It's unable to connect to bios and therefore the operating system, so I take it to get repaired. $180 later and it works...for 2 weeks. I decide to buy parts for a new PC which cost me $2000 for everything plus overnight shipping. I cry a bit inside, but accept my old PC may be done for.

I still want to try one last time, so I take it in to get repaired by someone else while I wait for the new computer parts to come in. $140 in repairs later, it works for 1 day. I die a little more inside.

I let the 2nd repair guy wipe the PC because I had my most important files backed up so I tried to reinstall everything yesterday [this was before it failed again], using up all the licenses for my 3d programs that I use for making backgrounds. It costs me $895.99 total to replace the licenses for Sketchup and the plugins, which are good for a year. I still have 7 months left on the licenses that I am now unable to use since you have to manually deactivate it through the program, which I can't now that my PC is dead...just like I am inside at this point. I might have to repurchase all the licenses if I can't get it reset by the companies...Yes, I know. It's absurdly expensive but I want to give you nice backgrounds :')

I already bought new parts for a brand new PC, which will be even more powerful than the old and sluggish one I had, but I'm still waiting for the computer case to come in [even though I paid $80 for overnight shipping T-T wtf...] and I have to find a new repair shop to help me build it, which will be at least another $200+ for labor. It sucks because I wanted to buy a prebuilt PC at first, but they are $500-$1000+ overpriced and the better ones start at $3000. Basically PC shops are charging up to double, sometimes triple depending on the company, for parts that aren't worth that much. Even the parts have gone up dramatically in price, so it's still quite expensive to build from scratch nowadays.

I have to be out of town for a few weeks, so I was planning to get all the backgrounds done so I could work on my tablet while I'm away and upload new pages to Patreon through my old laptop, but I'm not sure if I will be able to get the PC built and have the backgrounds before I leave.

I can still draw on my samsung tablet and upload to Patreon through my old laptop, but I want to ask what you would prefer I do while I'm getting things set up again. I considered drawing the backgrounds from scratch, but I don't want to make that promise because it could take way too long plus everything going on in my life right now.

Technical difficulties and misery aside, I was able to bake a nice cake for someone's birthday. It helped to get my mind off the stress for a little bit. I'll share it in a separate post to keep my feed clean.

If you're curious about the new PC, these are the components I purchased. I will update you on how my programs run on it. Hopefully it's way faster than my old PC which really struggled to produce those beautiful backgrounds because of the file sizes and the amount of components. RIP buddy, you helped to make many spicy drawings.

So sorry you're having trouble, I hope everything works out for you soon and I will be waiting for ya. Love your work and its worth waiting for.

Amber

😳 wow, im sorry about the old but excited for the new for you. Please let us know if there's any thing we can do

Merryl Martin

Oh sweets sucks about your computer those suckers aren't cheap, I feel for ya. Well whatever you do it will be worth the wait.

ajoji_comic

Thanks Amber <3 All I ask is for a little patience. I'm so stressed out rn 😭

ajoji_comic

Seriously, and this PC is just going to be a back up so this doesn't happen again. I intend to build a more powerful rig someday, but I wanted to get the most out of my old PC first. Thanks for understanding <3

Amber

Deep breaths!! All will be well 🤗 just take your time

Yumoyori Wilson

I wish we could do more to help! You're so dedicated and I love your work so much! please make an amazon wishlist or something where people can help you get the parts. This is your livelihood too and we would love to assist if we can <3 Don't let this slow you down. I also hope you had everything backed up as well or at least get your files before completely throwing the PC away <3

ajoji_comic

Aww, thank you. That's really sweet ^^ It's okay, I can write the parts off for my taxes lol I had most of it backed up, but some things were definitely lost after my PC was wiped. Right now, I have to focus on the new PC but I may try one last time to salvage the old one or least remove one of the hard drives.

Melody HappyCat

I wish you were in the Atlanta area, my partner would be able to help build and repair for the cost of parts. 😞 I’m so glad you’re able to find some bright moments during a tough time, though. Like others have said, we are here for you, so don’t stress out about us. 💜

ajoji_comic

I see that there are more comments [number count shows up in the top right hand corner] but it's not showing up for me unfortunately...sorry if I can't reply to you :'( but thanks for writing to me in these uncertain times.

I'm sorry to hear about your computer. I feel your pain my computer crashed in December... in the middle of editing Christmas photos for clients. It was the most stressful time of the year :( I'll keep you in my thoughts!

ajoji_comic

Thank you 😊 I've talked about upgrading to a new computer, but held off because I would have to do a lot of research since I don't really know that much about it and what would be optimal for what I'm trying to do. It would also end up being very expensive. I have a reason now to push forward with it, so hopefully the new PC will make the background process much more enjoyable. It took so long to move objects around and render final images with the more complex environments.

ajoji_comic

That's really rough, I'm sorry about that. Mine starting having issues right before Christmas :'( Thank you, hope you have a much better PC now.

Foresthare

Thats an absolute sickener about the program. I hope you can get use out of the remaining 7 months of it-can you message the devs? Really sorry about your pc. Mine went just before christmas and I use it for photo editing 😔

ajoji_comic

Edit: I got a response back from one of the companies and they reset my license, yay! And I read that the other one can be done through my account with that company!! still sorry to hear about your PC though. Mine went out before Christmas too T-T

Chickadee

Sorry to hear about your computer Take time to regroup and take care of yourself too. Happy to wait until you’re able to produce any content Wish you all the best

Iriolan

Damn gurl, I am sorry to hear about this. I hope you can at least get what you need to get up and running the way you'd like. I wish I could do more than send words of encouragement. Don't stress, it'll all come together.

Sailor Marj

I’d also recommend reaching out to the software company to which you paid for licenses. Let them know the months you were not able to use the software, given your situation and see if they can give you a discount for the next subscription window, or a refund for that time lost. Best of luck to you!! 💕

TinyNomz

Oh bloody hell...Im so sorry! Thats absolutely awful! I have no idea what your recourse might be. I've never been in this situation. The other comments look to have sound advice though, so im gonna cross my fingers for you and wish you luck. 🫂

SARAH

Oh bummer, that seems super stressful. Don’t worry, I’m willing to wait while you get everything you need to make your amazing art. Hopefully it’s all resolved smoothly and with the least amount of stress.

I'm a Technician Manager at a computer recycler and I'm not sure why the second repair person didn't clone your hard drive to put it on another hard drive/SSD/NVMe. Did they say why they didn't clone it? A machine shutting down/not turning on isn't directly a Windows issue. The "blue screen of death" which will display an error code describing wtf is going on, like driver compatibility/conflict, part failure, etc. To save $$ in the future on parts you can buy things second-hand or custom builds on places like jawa.gg. It's a small e-commerce marketplace for computer parts with a non-toxic discord server. Everyone on the discord server is eager to explain the how and why a machine or part is behaving like it is. Your new build looks p. dope. I'm currently running an AMD build (Ryzen 9 5950X, gigantic Cooler Master heatsink, 3060 Ti, 48GB RAM, 2TB NVMe, and the remaining components are be quiet because they're a solid brand) which serves me well. I hope your new build lasts you a long time. :)

Sakura

Please take your time and don't stress. I think I speak for many of us. We ain't going anywhere. I'm personally super invested into the story but the NSFW stuff ain't bad either 😏. I personally know I'd rather how you enjoy your work and not be stressed over providing stuff your not happy with or overworking yourself just to appease a few people. As long as you do take ellie amd grave away (dispear/delete from patreon), I ain't going anywhere. 🤩🥰

Galistant

Do this!!!! That is too much money to not try!

Heather Jahns

Hang in there! Computer issues are expensive and stressful but you’ll get through it and back to making amazing art in no time. Btw I have that same case and love it

ajoji_comic

Thank you, fortunately I found some help with building the new computer. Just waiting for the case to come in. As long as the parts work well together, it all should be fine ^^

ajoji_comic

Thank you! I did find some help ^^ and the rates were less than what I was quoted elsewhere. Super lucky to call the right shop.

ajoji_comic

Thank you! I finally got a response back from one of the companies who did reset it for me, and the other one apparently can be done from my account with that company. I'm gonna try it after I get my PC built, yay!

ajoji_comic

Thank you! I started by looking on google for shops with good and recent reviews, called many, and then took the leap of hope with each one until I got good results. I think my PC is done for, but hopeful about the new one.

ajoji_comic

Thank you, I'm just waiting for my PC case to come in. I already called a shop who is willing to build it for a reasonable rate, but now the waiting game for the case. I'm just a little worried because we have a problem with package theft around here.

ajoji_comic

I didn't get a blue screen, I got a black screen saying "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key_" The first two guys said the same thing about potentially resetting the PC, and nothing about cloning it. I had no idea about that, but fortunately I already had my most important files backed up from my SSD and I didn't keep much on the C drive that couldn't be reinstalled. Thanks for the recommendation, that's a cool website! I'll definitely keep it in mind for building the ultimate rig with high clock speed, or just back up PCs / parts. I was wondering if there was a website like that with custom built PCs that aren't super over priced. Thanks, it's supposed to be a balanced build for 3d programs. I read that AMD is recommended for running stuff like Sketchup and the plugins. I'll look into that, thanks for sharing and thanks for your message :)

ajoji_comic

Aww~ that's super sweet, thanks for your patience ^^ it's been a lot of trial and error, making awkward phone calls, and running around for parts and repairs, but things are gradually getting better. Thank you so much for being here :)

ajoji_comic

Awesome! I'm glad it's a good case. Someone recommended a closed one, but I figured mesh is probably a better way to go for airflow and keeping the temps down. Thank you!

xXAllieXx

Gotta “love” technology… take as much time possible!! Don’t want to feel stressed out and or do anything unnecessary and or uncomfortable! We Fans support any way possible! 😎

Kat

So sorry this happened!! That's so stressful, take the time you need
