More flowers, plants, and food I cooked~ I make my fried rice with white jasmine rice, oyster sauce, garlic, super finely diced onions, sugar, sesame oil, chinese sausage, sliced scramble egg, topped with green onion, sriracha, sesame seeds, and plated with floured pan fried shrimp.
Other meals pictured: korean bbq short ribs, rice pancakes, sun dried tomato mozz basil naan, oyster with garlic, cilantro, thai chilis, lime juice, fish sauce, sugar.
Most of the plants pictured aren't mine. They're from a private garden I visited. The white clustered flowering hoya is mine though. It bloomed after a few years of living in a cup lol i love how they look like fuzzy little stars.
Beautiful music I'm listening to: Yoko Kanno - The Tower of Babel / Skyrim - Night Rain Ambience
I've progressed a lot with my script. It's taken a while because there were very difficult problems within my character's world that I had to solve, and I didn't have the experience or knowledge to to provide a believable solution. Being allowed to spend half a year on their first time gave me so much time to answer immensely difficult questions. One of the biggest problems I had was figuring out how to believably deal with gang violence and systemic corruption, and how Ellie and Grave's life would be impacted by that situation.
When it comes to the gang violence, there are countries I can learn from, but the solution was simple. Basically the government has to care enough about their citizens to stop it, but if they're corrupt, then the next problem is figuring out how to uproot corruption. That was the hardest part for me, and I'm still figuring things out, but I have a much better idea of what that would look like and how Grave and Ellie would act in that kind of world. I also had time to flesh out the other supporting characters, giving their own motivations and figuring out their feelings towards the main characters. That's going to be fun for me because the other characters are quite colorful. There's at least 10 off the top of my head that I can think of.
On top of the script, I'm in the process of environment building which is a whole other skill on it's own. It requires learning how to work with various 3d programs and studying interior design, architecture, color theory, etc. I don't usually like to buy 3d models and use it as is because so many other artists have done that. I would feel silly if a reader saw the same backgrounds in a bunch of different comics. I want my scenes to be more personal and tailored for the story. If you're an OG reader, you'll remember Mr. Wolfe and his situation. I want to expand on the scene with him and Grave so they're not just talking in a boring environment.
I've also been getting more into studying various fashion because since this is a visual medium, I want my characters to dress well and have their own style. I love that about certain anime and films because it adds an extra layer of realness and appeal to an already complex production. The biggest problem I see in other stories is that the writers don't have enough time to plan and figure things out. I'm often derided for putting so much focus on the spicy parts, but it's given me the freedom to produce a better script so I'm going to keep doing what I believe works for me.
Thank you to all the patrons for allowing me to do that ^-^
