because we are used to see that...the author plays the long game...tease the audience with something that obviously want and obviously is gonna happen...then the story grew too thin...suddenly there is no logical way to end the story how it supposed to now...so three things can happen...extends the story even more to fit the ending we want, gets distracted and turn the story into something else...or he rush the ending and becames a dissapointing mess that satisfies no one
