I'm with you on that 100%. Take the transformation in American Werewolf in London for instance. When David falls to his transformed hands and feet, and then you get a full shot of his back and backside, and you see all that hair already sprouted. And then just a little further on, it goes back to his back as his spine and shoulder blades start bulging out of his back... one of the best parts of an amazing TF sequence, right there.
