I bought and sold a house, moved, then had my fourth child, so this year didn’t leave me much time for reading. I’m just getting back into reading with the HLBC and my favorite of the year on and off the book club list and personal reading was The Master and Margarita. It came at the perfect time and was so amusing and thought provoking, the humor is as close to my own as I’ve read. Also thoroughly pleased and satisfied with the end of the year picks…Hardy and Dickens and then I tacked on Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights Excited for 2025’s reads!! Especially Madame Bovary 💜 Thank you Ben and all for the amazing content and discussions, a bright spot in my life!

Happy New Year everyone! I've been in the HCLB for a year now and can't wait to start reading the picks for 2025. My highlights of the year were feeling euphoria from the pastoral scenes in East of Eden, reading and watching Othello and Hamlet for the first time, and experiencing the uniquely Victorian yearning in Far From the Madding Crowd. Here's to a great 2025!

Happy new year everyone! Last year was an incredible one for me reading wise. Fewer books but much more time spent and appreciation with characters and authors. A surprise for me was Molière, very funny - and fun - plays! My favourite big read, excepting Pride and Prejudice, would maybe be East of Eden. Or Infinite Jest (though still reading that one). Or David Copperfield (last 100 pages). So many! Thank you all for your insights, discussion, challenge and company in the exploration of great books 😊

The deep discussions combined with the deepening ability to deep read (mind you that I have just reached my 76th year and recall climbing into my father’s lap as he indulged my curiosity by exploring his dictionary word by word) has enriched my life beyond measure as well as those in my circle who require my deepest care.

Happy new year to you, Benjamin, and to everyone. Running a bit behind on scheduling due to the arrival of my new furry-bellied, four-legged, best mate AND a lovely bad cold to start the new year. I hope you are all well. Tootle-loo. Lisa in NW GA, USA.

Just signed on to this club as a new year resolution. I rounded out the year with Crime & Punishment. On its own, this may well be the best book I’ve ever read, but the discussions/ lectures from Mr. McEvoy have really taken my enjoyment and appreciation to another level. And this is while I waiting for the club to start! Truly can’t to see the lectures on One Hundred Years of Solitude!

Re: One Hundred Years of Solitude! The Libby app has delivered the Spanish version of the audiobook. I listened to some of it, while following along in the English version of the book. Wonderful!

Hello everyone! I`ve just joined the Club and am really looking forward to reading along with you this year! Love, Peace, Books, Coffee, Cookies!

My 2024 consisted of East of Eden, crime and punishment, myth of sisyphus, Song of Solomon, julius ceasar and the new testament. I appreciate you Benjamin for helping me get through and get more out of these great books. Learning to read is learning to listen, and I'm greatful for the conversation. Looking forward to my 3rd year in the club.
