Book Club Housekeeping & Live Reading Group Schedule Information (Patreon)
Content
Dear Book Club Readers ---
I hope your reading is treating you well!
Here's a little bit of Book Club housekeeping/admin for the month ahead.
1) A very warm HLBC welcome to new patrons
Welcome aboard, and thank you for joining the club!
Do let us know which book(s) you're enjoying at the moment and what life is looking like for you.
2) Shakespeare Tier Live Reading Group
We typically have this scheduled for the last weekend of each month, but this coming weekend has the unenviable misfortune for myself needing to depart my current residence and travel to, hopefully, my next one.
As such, I ask that we schedule this one for next weekend. This means there will be a shorter gap (~3 weeks) before the next one comes around.
I know a few of the group are travelling this week too, so this should line up nicely.
- Date: 4th July 4:30 GMT
- RSVP: Shakespeare/Homer patrons, let me know at your leisure, and I'll send you the group link across.
- Agenda: A delightful blend of Austen and Proust (and any other authors you're enjoying) as we finish up Persuasion and kickstart In Search of Lost Time.
- Assignments: Your optional "extra-credit" reading assignment is to peruse Shelley's 'Ode to the West Wind' and enjoy a short story. Chekhov's 'The Lady with the Dog' is a rich one.
- Bring: Your favourite drink, a line of poetry or Proust, and your lovely selves.
3) Upcoming Content
More Proust is on the way - discussion about sleep and consciousness, self and identity, the Ptolomeic universe, mysticism, Great Chain of Being, and the Three Souls Model abound.
Our next Great Reads progress as follows:
Links are to my personal favourite recommended editions and translations.
4) Patreon App
Did you know that Patreon has an app version?
This makes it much easier to carry around the book club lectures and audios with you on the go.
I know I personally love listening to educational audio content on long hikes, whilst doing cardio at the gym, or on long car journeys. If you're the same, I'd recommend you check it out so you can enjoy the Hardcore Literature Book Club on the go.
5) Coffee with Hardcore Literature
Do you have any questions about reading the Great Books? Or, indeed, anything else?
If so, please do let me know either here or PM me and I would love to sit down with a coffee and record my answers.
I'll also be reading out some of the great comments left on the lecture videos recently, which have blown me away as usual.
And that's all for now, folks!
Happy reading!
