How is your reading of Don Quixote going?

Are you enjoying your time spent with knight errant and squire?

I served up a platter of questions for your consideration in this video, with two specific reading assignments:

1.a) Let us know your favourite scene up until the end of Part One. We'll collate them together and pick them apart in a dedicated video.

b) To make the question more difficult, how about your favourite side story? Cervantes introduces several digressional stories within the story towards the end of the first part (called interpolated novels). What do you make of these?

2) What questions do you want answers to? Let's start compiling them together and see if we can answer them during our quest.

The next lecture, 'Slashing at Wineskins', will take us to the end of Part One.

Then, deep breath before we plunge into the second part. First readers had to wait a decade and suffer through a plagiarised copy. We can simply turn the page.

Happy reading!

I have to think some more about your questions, but a line I loved is from the galley slave Gines when he says 'let everyone take a good look at themselves, that will give them enough to do' (I tried to translate it from the Dutch version I am reading). It just resonated...

Hello everyone, I am reading Don Quixote slowly and I am finishing chapter 4. I am really enjoying this book. I am laughing alone in my office and trying to envision Don Quixote and the scene at the inn. I do not have questions yet, but I probably will, later in the book.
