Hi Ben and Everyone, this is my first time reading it! I’m excited ! It’s December and Christmas is around the corner. Year is ending and you are right, it has been a very tough one but we are all here and thankfully, sharing something we love … READING.. and what better way to end the year ! Thanks Ben for everything!

Hello to all…after watching HLBC videos on YouTube over the last year I have joined as a Christmas present and to tackle my two white whale novels (Moby Dick and Middlemarch which I have begun several times and just can’t get beyond the first hundred pages or so). I think reading with a group of other literature lovers may be the key to either finally completing or figuring out why I can’t. There are other reads that I am looking forward to joining (Shakespeare, Ulysses, rereading Dracula and the next secret Dickens) and some that I will sit out as I have either recently reread or just not in that head or heart space currently. Wuthering Heights is one of the recent reads and so I am going to be doing a slow and close reading of Great Expectations during that time. It will be my seventh read as it is my favorite book but I would like to take this opportunity to examine why I love it and why it means so much. I turn to it in good and difficult times (when my grandmother passed I read it back to back over a two week time period…somehow she was a blend of Joe and Miss Havisham and I found it very comforting to read) but I think the key is what Ben talks about when it takes you to the heart of your childhood and development. I look forward to reading with you all over the next year and thank you for even just making such a community a reality.
