Dear Book Club Readers ---

I hope your reading is treating you well!

Here's a little bit of Book Club housekeeping/admin for the month.

1) A very warm HLBC welcome to new patrons

Welcome aboard, and thank you for reading with us!

Do let us know which book(s) you're enjoying at the moment and what life is looking like for you.

2) Coffee with Hardcore Literature

Do you have any questions about reading the Great Books? Or, indeed, anything else?

If so, please do let me know either here or PM me and I would love to sit down with a coffee and record my answers.

Here are the last three Q&A episodes:

3) Bookish Content

Our deep reading of James Joyce's Ulysses continues to prompt rich discussion, and it will be exciting to hear what you make of episode nine. We have another discussion on Richardson's Clarissa, which will take us to the close of that sprawling novel.

We'll soon be indulging a love of Gothic literature with Bram Stoker's Dracula, so do make sure to get your hands on a copy. Our discussion on Victorianism will pair well with this work, as will our next dive into Middlemarch.

And, if you haven't checked it out already, we recently had a video reacting to a list of the 50 greatest books of all time here, which sparked some grand discussion.

4) Thank you for your great comments

Thank you for continuing to make this such an amazing community to lovingly discuss great literature. You continue to warm my heart with your passionate, intelligent, and inspiring comments. I'm so grateful for you all, and I'm currently enjoying making my way through our discussion threads.

And that's all for now, folks!

Happy reading, and let us know if you have any questions for our Q&A show!

So agree Linda! I never studied literature in any of my years in university. I a m absolutely loving this book club though and now wish I could devote all of my time to reading literature. Alas... I cannot. I don't even keep up :-) Ben's interest and knowledge are indeed infectious! I can't imagine a better teacher!

Hello, fabulous content Ben...you're passion and interest are infectious and made me fall in love with literature again. I studied Eng Lit at uni in the 1980s and have to say the professors would shuffle in, read a lecture for an hour and shuffle out. It was a very dry experience and I've always felt that I missed out on learning...until now. You are a gifted and natural teacher and I'm excited to be on this journey. I'm currently reading and loving The Lost Stradivarius and War and Peace. Have my copy of Dracula ready and Shakespeare en route. Bring it on!
