Dear Book Club Readers ---

I hope your reading is treating you well!

Here are a few things I wanted to say to the community as we continue to read great literature together:

1) A very warm HLBC welcome to new patrons

Welcome aboard, and thank you for reading with us!

Do let us know which book(s) you're enjoying at the moment and what life is looking like for you.

2) Coffee with Hardcore Literature

Do you have any questions about reading the Great Books?

If so, please do let me know either here or PM me and I would love to sit down with a coffee and record my answers.

Here are the last three Q&A episodes:

3) A deep thank you for being here

Your discussions around the great books are such a joy. It's so inspiring to see fellow readers sharing their love for these magnificent writers.

I cannot wait to hear what you make of the next part of Tolstoy's War and Peace. Our next lecture is out this weekend, which will take us through the second part of volume one.

It's also been so wonderful to see the excitement around reading Shakespeare. Now that we have our approach and our chronology established, we'll begin our tour through the great writer's canon with The Comedy of Errors.

Thank you for deep reading these great books with us and for creating such a beautiful community to lovingly discuss great literature.

Happy reading, everybody! Do let us know if you have any bookish questions for our Q&A show!

Thank you for the warm welcome Ben :). I am so glad I found your YouTube channel and was led here. It is a breath of fresh air for this fellow INFJ! Thank you for the advice - in that case I may watch the video to make things easier as there is so much information to keep track of (and history is not my strong point). Regarding the French - I feel it adds nuance and character and it’s a beautiful language. My father read W&P in Russian and he would have encouraged me to read W&P with the French included. That was the deciding factor :). I love it so far and am making a note of all the names and annotating (a first for me). Thank you so much for the wealth of wisdom and knowledge here and on the podcast. It’s truly amazing 🤩

Thank you for this book club. I’m so glad I happened upon a YouTube video and joined. My question is: Do you think Leo Tolstoy was exposed to Eastern philosophy at all? Andrei’s sky epiphany and dropping out for a bit seems kind of Taoist to me.
