‘The Tale of Genji’ was my last year’s deep read. I was reading it along with a visual companion by Melissa McCormick (highly recommended). Although it was very convenient to spread 54 chapters over the year, it wasn’t nearly enough for me to fully appreciate such a gem. How wonderful it would be to have a lecture series on this masterpiece of Japanese literature!
