Omg, one of my favorite movies of all time

Dave

Haven't seen this one before. Looking forward to watching along!

Robert da Spruce

Fun movie! I actually tried recommending it to you when I first joined your Patreon I’m really happy you decided to choose it for your PPOTM!

Dan M

This will be the first time I see this movie Cassie. I have no idea what its about or who’s in it. But based on your description in your post, it sounds like a fun ride. Now I have to find what streaming service is offering it so I can hop on.

Zane From Canada

I'll be watching this for the first time! Can't wait! 😁

Anjolie Lanel

Awesome movie and it was my first introduction to Neil Gaiman

JC

Woah. This just unlocked a hidden memory from my childhood! Looking up the IMDB, I didnt realize Daredevil was in this film.

Nathan Swapp

Stardust has that rare vibe like the Princess Bride. They're a fun double feature.

djKENTO

and Superman.

djKENTO

total banger of a movie. The same guy who directed this directed the next X-Men movie you're watching, First Class!

Farbod

Love this film. Excited for this reaction.

Shawn Kildal

First time watcher. May have to wait until tomorrow to watch along though.

Todzilla

I've never seen this film 🤔

Jayson Phillips

Finally someone watches my fav movie!!!!!

Ronny Boss

If you enjoyed the film you should get your book club to read the graphic novel. Have you fine folks introduced any graphic novels into the club yet?

Krylo

and Superman

Michael West

A great reaction to a pure Cassie movie. A wonderful film narrated by Gandalf. It was whimsical and charming with an amazing cast, I hope you did an IMDB deep dive afterward. Michelle Pfeiffer was an awesome villain and De Niro was great.

Mary Therese Ryan Ceballos

Did you notice that the first mate in the Lightning ship is one of the sergeants from Band of Brothere? And Septimus is mark atrong. He was in the Kingsmen, the Imitation Game, Cruella, 1917. He’s a great actor.

zynjams

Clair Danes and Matt Damon star in great Court Room John Grisham Drama in the Rainmaker

Jayson Phillips

Yes the rainmaker was a great love story as well!!!!!

Stephen Woods

What does Cassie do? ......Shine!

Mojo One Thousand

Hadn't seen this this it was in cinemas and enjoyed it the first time seeing it. It has a big cast of British actors that had acclaim then, and many that have achieved it after this film. Mainly the entire cast outside of Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, and Michelle Pfeiffer, with many having voices with such gravitas, Ian McKellan ("narrator"), Peter O'Toole (the king) and Mark Strong ("Septimus"). I suspect Cassie has seen many of these folks before, as I was trying to figure how I new them I saw that there are many movies that are in her wheelhouse such as "Notting Hill", "Bridget Jones' Diary", and "My Best Friend's Wedding". I am surprised that there was no recognition of Rupert Everett ("Secundus") who was a big part of "My Best Friend's Wedding" Although he was only really recognisable for a short time in this movie, but to fair it has probably been while since "My Best Friend's Wedding" was viewed. Marv films is Matthew Vaughn's production company. I had to look it up to see whether it was based around his initials, but couldn't really confirm anything that confirmed that. But it was splintered out of a shared production company (SKA films) with Guy Ritchie, and was the company where they made "Lock, stock, and two smoking barrells" together, which explains some of the cast in "Stardust", Jason Flemyng ("Primus") and Dexter Fletcher (the pirate first mate) were both main characters in "Lock, stock". It was a bit odd the see "Superman" (Henry Cavill) bullying "Daredevil" (Charlie Cox) for the affections of "The Baroness" from "GI Joe: Rise of Cobra" (Sienna Miller). Mark Strong ("Septimus") is always solid when he is in a movie and makes for great villains. Just found out that "Miss Pettigrew lives for a day" has never been seen by the PiB crew, which is something that has a good cast and would be something they would likely enjoy.

So my fiance at the time and I had just got back from Scotland and she had rented this with her girlfriends. Now I fell asleep like 55 minutes to an 75 in. Dang jet lagg. Now I love Claire Danes, she was fantastic in Brokendown Palace (1999) with Kate Beckinsale My So Called Life (1994-1996) a TV show also loved Homeland (2011-2020) She was absolutely the best in Romeo and Juliet opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. (1996) My fiance said that this was not my type of ROMCOM. She was partially right it was but it was fun and definitely magical. I ended up watching her copy of it. If Claire Danes wasn't in it I probably wouldn't have liked it. The romance wasn't as good as Romeo and Juliet (1996). However unable to sleep I watched the final 50 minutes with you. Well I remembered the ending so in ended being 40 minutes. I still did like it. Great reaction Cass, it was magical.

Wesley White

I've seen this movie before, and I like it! Mostly for the sword fighting lol! This has quite the ensemble cast of actors, very underrated fantasy movie! I'll watch your reaction to it another time, it's kinda late for me right now, work kicked my butt today! I'll give it a watch probably tomorrow night! Glad to hear you liked it, have a happy Monday😁😉✌🥰🌹

Robert da Spruce

Shakespeare! 😄 Wonderful reaction Cassie! Glad you enjoyed the film!

Nealan Inouye

I've been waiting for this movie reaction for a long time.

Jacob King

Fun movie, I’m a big fan of the book and Charles Vess’s beautiful art. I’d never noticed before that when the seven brother’s disappear at the end, they all go white and float upward except Septimus who goes red and floats down into the fire. I liked how in the final fight Una held Tristan back until Septimus was killed protecting Tristan’s claim to the throne.

YodatheHobbit

I wanted to watch this when it was at my theater but missed out. Also, I think when my family rented it I was busy. Heard good things!

MertzRocks

Lots of peeps missed this little gem. I was dragged into a theater by an exgf in '07, and have enjoyed every watch ever since.

MertzRocks

Sergeant Johnny Martin yep.

MertzRocks

Me too. 100% a Cassie movie imo

Rodger Johnson

Underrated gem. I remember being blown away when I saw this in the theater.

Popcorn In Bed

i never noticed those moments, so glad you pointed them out!

OddThomas

If nothing else, the score is amazing, but then you've got a great script, great villain in Michelle Pfeiffer and a central couple you actually want to succeed.

Popcorn In Bed

oh my gosh “whenever i wake up, before i put on my makeup…” now i see him! I knew I recognized the narrator voice too!

Popcorn In Bed

oh my gosh yes, another one it reminded me of but i couldn’t place!

William Burnham

Daredevil beat Superman An excellent and fun film😊😊😊😊😊😊

Mojo One Thousand

"... I say a little prayer for you"... yeah, that guy. I was surprised about "Gandalf", but I thought I did see a "Lord of the Rings" reference in there, but I might have been wrong.

Clay F

Late last night, I started a first watch of the movie (along with the reaction) but was too tired to finish. I am about 1 hour into the movie (shortly after De Niro appears) and will complete watching the movie/reaction today. What a dang good cast. Also, seems like an interesting premise. I like that there is humor. Further, I am expecting romantic stuff, which I can like. I realized when I put the movie on last night that I had previouly watched the first 10 minutes or so. I am thinking years ago, I was channel surfing and caught the beginning of the movie but didn't continue. I am a Claire Danes fan. I was addicted to the Showtime TV series "Homeland" (2011) (8 seasons) when it aired. I first saw her in "My So Called Life" (1994) (1 season) (with a young Jared Leto) when that series aired. Charlie Cox played his character well in the HBO series "Boardwalk Empire" (2010-2014) that I watched. A completely different type of character than in Stardust.

Above Average Dave

Don't forget SHOPGIRL - just a great small movie with fantastic work by Claire Danes, Steve Martin (who wrote the screenplay and novella it's based on) and Jason Schwartzman.

Stephen Last

Hey Cassie. You may best know Tristan best as Peter's blind lawyer Mat Murdock in Spiderman No Way Home. He is best known for playing that character in the Netflix series Dare Devil.

OddThomas

A great Robert De Niro movie is Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)

Matt Rose

Glad that you loved this, it's pretty wonderful. It's one of my wife's favorite films.

Clifton Owens

Miss Cassie, when the romantic and happy scenes are in the movie, you shine like the Stars too - everyone's Popcorn Bright Angel.

Steve Mercier

The graphic novel by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess (and just the novel by Neil Gaiman) this movie is based on is one of my favorites. It took me a long time to appreciate this movie, given the drastic changes in mood and tone (and overall plot) from the source material. But I've come to appreciate it as its own unique thing, quite separate from the originals. Sometimes that's just how it goes. Plus, this introduced me to Charlie Cox, a.k.a. Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil. So, good stuff.

Gábor Árki

I love this movie, one of my favorites from the 2000s. Sadly, didn't do well at the box office. I kept suggesting it for years and was so happy to see it as a PPotM. Sometimes all you need is a fairy tale where you already kind of know where the story is heading, yet when the movie gives you exactly what you wished for you are fully satisfied. It was great to see Cassie's reaction going through all that, reminded me when I first discovered this underrated gem.

Tom Furze

I love this movie so much. It's one of the best romance movies my wife and I have enjoyed. I am so pleased you enjoyed it so much.

Chris Thom

Finally saw this for the first time two weeks ago. Pretty creative. Props to Michelle Pfeiffer for playing ugly there are the end. Respect that.

Darren G.

I think that was your 1st Michelle Pfeiffer movie you reacted to... you should do more of her please? I recommend I Am Sam - 2001 (Michelle Pfeiffer & Sean Penn)

Yaisu

Loved this movie. Honestly had thought you'd watched it already. I'm glad you did finally watch it though because it's the perfect Cassie movie.

Vault Dweller

I've wanted you to watch this so badly. I knew it would never win a poll, so views be damned this is one guy that's happy Cassie made the executive decision.

Morgan A. Colbert

So very happy to enjoy this with you. It's definitely been a few years, I remember seeing this one in the theater. I think I went in knowing nothing at all and it was a lovely surprise.

Shawn Kildal

The movie you were trying to think of regarding leaving a note was It Happened One Night with Clark Gable.

Shawn Kildal

If you are a fan of Claire Daines, I highly recommend The Rainmaker. It's a top tier Courtroom drama. And perhaps when you are done with ALIAS, consider HOMELAND. Claire Daines plays a CIA agent. It's so good.

MikeLL

Add me to the list of those who watched this for the first time with Cassie! Great to see Charlie Cox in a starring movie role! What a movie! Thanks, Cassie, for making this one your pick this month!

Martin Skouboe

What a pleasant surprise! I love this movie! The whole mood throughout is amazing. Watching it always brightens my day. I'm so happy you enjoyed it. I suspect I'll be watching along with this reaction many times in the future.

Cole Jennett

This isn’t to take anything away from any of your other reactions, but this was my favourite reaction in awhile. You’re always invested, but somehow you were on another level!😊

Don Ross

All of Robert Dinero's other roles were just to prepare him (and us) for this performance.

David Fuchs

Really? Dionne Warwick singing the brilliant Bacharach? I shd watch this film. Cassie, your Patron "Mojo" wrote a scholarly comment.

David Fuchs

I gave it a quick look. Ian narrated w/ a very Patrick Stewart voice, like Star Trek. I admit that they did Shakespeare. But I'm an old man, in my day, Declamation was not in fashion. We did Method Acting. True, Shakespeare King, Laurence Olivier, hated Method. But he never did this Patrick stuff.

Elessar

One of my all-time favorite movies, so happy you enjoyed it too! It makes me tear up every time I see it, it's just such a happy ending.

Walter

Absolutely Princess Bride! I've been wanting to watch this since I first saw Charlie Cox as Daredevil - this was the perfect excuse, so thanks, Cassie!

Mitch M

Another underrated love story with Claire Danes is Stage Beauty.

LukeG84

Finally got around to watching this one. Haven't seen this movie in so long I couldn't remember most of it. Honestly have no clue why I only watched it the once, it's an excellent movie with an excellent cast to boot. Surprised Cassie didn't recognise Henry Cavill, or the voice of Ian McKellen narrating though. Not surprised she didn't recognise the male lead. Highly doubt she's seen Daredevil.

Anjolie Lanel

One of my favorite movies and I’m glad you enjoyed it too! I can’t believe that Charlie Cox, who plays Dare Devil, was Tristan! And, Ian Mackellan as the narrator, wow
