Kind of a weird coincidence that you watched two Matthew Vaughn directed movies in a row, releasing this right after you released Stardust the other day. He used to be such an amazing director, but he's fallen off a little bit recently.

Better late to the party than missing completely. Good night ladies (currently it's 1am where I am), I am an X-Men fan and while I love that the movies are drawing you in...I urge you to read the source material to understand the X-Men. Very little in the books is as it appears on the silver screen. There are omnibus collections in black and white that will show you the history of the team. The ones I have are priced at $14.95 American. They may have gone up in price since I purchased them. They are The Essential X-Men and The Uncanny X-Men. These cover around 25 comics and some special issues in each of them. I hope you read them and enjoy them. Love you both. Have a nice night and a brighter tomorrow.

Since you guys seem interested in the continuity of these movies, I think it's important to keep in mind that these were not at all planned out the way the MCU movies were. They basically just made one, and then based on how it did, then came up with the next one, rather than having everything planned from the beginning. X3 was really poorly received, so they basically stopped with that timeline, and then X-Men Origins Wolverine was even more poorly received, so that was basically the end of that as well. X-Men First Class was basically them trying to start over by doing a prequel, and that was popular, so they continued that continuity. The Wolverine, which is next, is basically almost like a standalone film, as is Logan later. There are tenuous connections to some of the other films, but they're more on the periphery rather than central to those movies. They do continue the continuity from First Class for Days of Future Past, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, but those last two were again poorly received, so the franchise basically died there again. At some point it'll be rebooted again under the MCU, now that Disney owns Fox. The continuity of these films is more like the Batman franchise rather than the MCU. That was a big part of what made the MCU so groundbreaking, because it was such pre-thought out continuity, with really one guy in charge of all of that. That basically started the whole "cinematic universe" trend which other studios tried with different properties, but never with that kind of success.

If I may TLDR: Don't worry about continuity, they're just winging it.

Read the entire post and couldn't agree more. :)

We should do a Donald Sutherland poll. May he RIP I would vote for Don't Look Now (1973) Considered one of the best horror movies ever made. It's not a slasher flick it's a rather haunting story about loss and death.

Clay F

Good idea. He was awesome actor. R.I.P. Two of my favorites are M*A*S*H (1970) and Klute (1971) (w/Jane Fonda).

Clay F

Thanks for the clear explanation.

I used to collect X-Men Comics back in the '80s. (I sold them all off in the 2000s) This movie was the closest to the original comics (IMHO).

The X-Men movies have been a real sleeper success, for me, as far as "Popcorn in Bed" viewing. I have very much enjoyed your reactions, more than most other movies. You've even kinda helped me appreciate them, a little more. You're proper nerd girls!
