Hiiii, bring me some figgy pudding please!

actually scratch that, it sounds kind of unsettling. I will take a plate of warm gingersnaps.

Speaking of unsettling? How about that 2001 A Space Odyssey eh? haha jk but wow what a ride.

Hope you are having a fantastic week. Yesterday for the first time in a long time I woke up feeling like I actually had some energy and health back. I got so much done-but then kind of crashed at night. We had a beginner band concert to attend last night and let me just tell you-that was also a ride-just like 2001-same-same pretty much.

This week on Patreon we have GOT, Wonder Woman and Christmas Carol! Yay! FYI The Winner of our top 50 poll winner (City Slickers) won't be watched until after Christmas :) Coming up I will also be watching the classic and modern christmas poll winners and some Rankin Bass! Another FYI-some of those may or may not get a YT edit this year. Ps-go vote on the Christmas polls if you haven't yet, one of them is close!

SAVE THE DATE: YT CHRISTMAS COZY LIVE ON 12/18 at 5:30PM MST. I'll be doing packages and some Christmas games and am be going to be raising money again for gas and food gift cards for families of children who will be in the hospital over the holidays. I hope to see you there! The best way to bring Christmas cheer is having a live for all to hear ;)

Also, the EXTRA BUTTER LIVE will be DECEMBER 21st at 7:30pm!

Thanks for all your excitement and feedback about the website-Ben has truly spent hundreds of hours over the last year plus building it and thought of so many little things that will make things easier to find the content you want to watch on PiB. And just to reiterate-this is not in any way trying to replace Patreon-just an add on library if you will-PiB Imdb haha. Patreon is where we built this community to which I am so grateful and not going anywhere!

Hope you all have a great week and that you are feeling the Christmas spirit!

Love, Cassie

Can Carly watch Gremlins with me? I asked her yesterday if she has seen it? She said she's never even heard of it-i pulled up a picture of a gremlin on google and she said furbies? Just wondering if she could handle it/like it? Also found out Ben never saw it either!

Gremlins is extremely low on the 'actual scary' scale, I think it be fine both of you.

Shad Kanyak

Nice. The George C. Scott Scrooge is my favorite version.

Bryan Erickson

A Christmas Carol (1984) is my personal favorite Xmas movie. Hope you enjoy.

JC762

“The man who invented Christmas”. In the Christmas Carol theme. You will love it.

Jackson Harper

Gremlins is fine for Carly. It’s scary but not too scary. No gore apart from puppets. Very funny and cute.

Nick Ireland

Carly should definitely watch Gremlins. It's a classic. She was ok with Jaws and this is a lot less scary!

Walt

Honestly, most 7 year olds could probably handle Gremlins, the only reason you’d wait to show that classic is because of one speech about how Santa isn’t real.

Jake McNulty

Any time you can get Carly to watch along with you absolutely yes!

The One Man Reaction Faction

Gremlins would probably be a no-go for Carly. Even though its PG, it's a PG movie from the mid-80s. Poltergeist was PG. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was PG. Without spoiling any plot points, use the content of those two movies as a precursor for Gremlins.

Choof

I think Carly might not like gremlins

Blake Evans

Carly should be able to handle Gremilns. It has its cute furby moments, they’re called Mogwai, but also does have some more sticky grungy moments. Although most of it is very camp and not to be taken seriously as scary or horror. Even though I am much more partial to Gremlins 2 purely for its near perfect satire, Gremlins is a fun and yearly watch at my house.

Jackson Harper

Also the George C. Scott Christmas Carol. Oh yes. Best screen adaptation as far as I’ve seen. Wonderful.

Gray

It's a PG she'll be fine haha, for once i'll be making it to a YT live but miss out on the extra butter guessing you'll be doing a Xmas movie for it.

ROBERT CLARK

In that case you better watch Gremlins with Carly. I believe she can handle it.

MannyDC

YESSSSS!!!! Carly & gremlins 🙏🏾 #MerryXmasToAll&ToAllAGoodnight

Blane

Please talk Ben and Carly into joining you to watch Gremlins.

Knight Squirrel

Will this be this first time Carly's seen something that you haven't?? Either way, I'm excited for you to see Wonder Woman. 💪

MikeLL

Gremlins is an absolute yes for Carly. I'm assuming she is onboard for Wonder Woman as well. Come to think of it, I doubt if Carly will ever watch Game of Thrones, but that one is a BIG yes for me! Also down for whatever Christmas Carol version you happen to watch in whatever year! So glad to hear you are feeling better, and just in time for some holiday jammin, if not for figgy puddin! I've never had that, and probably won't ever!

Teemu Laitinen

George C. Scott was born to play Scrooge. He is absolutely perfect in the role.

Stephen Last

After you finish GoT, any chance you will watch Fallout? It's another video game adaptation. It's set in the Fallout universe but it's its own story that takes place a few years after the last game. No need to play the game first.

Richard Maurer

Could most adults handle Gremlins? Certainly. Carly being unusually susceptible to horror of any kind, is another matter entirely. But I’ll go slightly out on a limb and say she can handle it. It is a PG movie that was more kid oriented after all.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I think Carly could watch Gremlins (1984) with you, it's not very scary, it's more comical than scary!

Jay Nordick

Carly can absolutely handle Gremlins. The cuteness overshadows anything else in the movie.

Michael West

Maybe a watch along of Gremlins with both Carly and “The Hand of Ben”😜. I think she could handle Gremlins. She might have a jump scare or two. So glad you are feeling better. Two thumbs up for the project Ben is developing. I was searching for one of your older videos the other day and thought to myself I wish there were an easier way, so can’t wait to see the finished product.

David Freese

Carly can definitely handle Gremlins. Its a type of movie that the cuteness outweighs the little bit of the horror. Also Wonder Woman and the version of Christmas Carol that I like the most: can I say yes please 🙏 😀

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I wish I could post more Cadbury Orange Mini Eggs to you for the YT Live, Cassie. Unfortunately they're not available to buy until January! I'll definitely post some to you for the February/March YT Live!

Samuel Champ

Im glad your feeling better. 🙂 Carly handled LOTR, she should be able to deal with Gremlins. She won't like some of it, but she can work on her "look away" reflex.

Joshua Campbell

Looking forward to Wonder Woman, but I still recommend Pedro Pascal again in Fantastic Four First Steps. It's available now on Disneyplus & it's Fantastic 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

The Neo/Fate show

I mean I personally think gremlins isn’t a good movie. Just 80’s nostalgia. But I don’t know. Honestly Rankin Bass reactions sound fun

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

PG-13, Both Gremlins (1984) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) are responsible for the creation of that age-restricted rating!

Richard Maurer

She said she’s watching FF on the last live, or so I was told ( didn’t hear that part myself).

Dan M

Ewww…figgy pudding sounds gross. I’ll take some homemade cheesecake with strawberry drizzle on top. A beginner band, huh? Like a Mr. Holland’s Opus beginner band? And speaking of, I think by next November, enough time will have passed where you can do a re-watch of Mr. Holland’s Opus with Carly, since she couldn’t join you for the first watch 😁🤞. I’ve put it on my Christmas wish list for 2026. So good to hear it sounds like you’re on the road to recovery! But don’t overdue anything just yet, since it sounds like your body isn’t 100% yet, hence the crash and burn. Looking forward to Wonder Woman and another Chris Pine crush session. Also excited for City Slickers and the Rankin/Bass reaction. And Gremlins is going to be a hoot. Hope Carly can join you for all of these! As always, Cassie, thanks for being who you are, especially at this time of the year 🫶

Delia P

Gremlins isn’t scary, she’ll be fine.

Brian Sheely

The Santa hat on the three-eyed raven is hilarious

Larry Darrell

Thank You Cassie… May I beg of you. Would you pretty, pretty, pretty please consider watching the runner up in the Classic Christmas Poll… The Bishop’s Wife (1947) Meet Me in St. Louis is a wonderful film, but not 100% Christmas. The Bishop’s Wife is Top Tier Christmas Spirit and I can guarantee you won’t regret it. Luv, Thanks and a Merry Christmas. :-)

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I don't know if you've ever watched Breaking Bad, Cassie? Jonathan Banks, who plays Mike on Breaking Bad, appears in Gremlins (1984) as one of the police officers!

Dan M

Gremlins has a couple of scenes that may make Carly do the “Oh My Gosh” bed dance, but nothing she can’t handle, and she’s certainly seen worse. Overall, it’s mostly good fun and some tender moments.

Patrick Flanagan

I saw GREMLINS when I was 9 and loved it and wasn't scared at all, so I'd say there's probably a 50/50 chance your sister will be terrified I mean it IS rated PG, but, it's also one of the two PG movies of 1984 that prompted the creation of the PG-13 rating a year later, so maybe consider GREMLINS a "hard" PG

Robert da Spruce

Glad you’re feeling better Cassie! Looking forward to Wonder Woman!

Above Average Dave

Hi Cassie - Glad you're feeling better!! Would you be able to post a link for the gas and food gift card for the hospital bound for those of us who may not be able to attend the unboxing of the boxes.

Delia P

Seriously! I haven’t watched that with them but it’s a funny film. That’s some extreme sensitivity. However, she has watched more gorier stuff than Gremlins, and they’re puppets, that makes it more silly than scary, I think she’ll be fine.

Chitown Livingston

Snickerdoodles! And The Ref! The Ref! The Ref! (I'm hypnotizing you to watch The Ref!)

Joshua Campbell

Thanks for the heads up. You & Carly gonna love it 😀.

Byrd N. Hand

Honestly, while I haven't seen that version in at least 25+ years, I never really liked Scott's fairly Patton-esque portrayal of the character. He just doesn't feel like the bitter, jaded, miserable, crochety old miser that I interpreted him in the original novella, but rather more just a naturally snide, sarcastic asshole. 🤷‍♂️ That said, Cassie may appreciate seeing David Warner (Dillinger/Sark from "Tron") and Susannah York (Lara/Superman's mother from the Christopher Reeve "Superman" movies) as Mr. and Mrs. Crachit. It's also one of the *very* few adaptations to feature the 'Ignorance and Want' segment. Albert Finney still remains the most convincing Scrooge for me.

Brian's Dog

The website is great, I already found a few overlooked reactions i wanted to see. Wish Ben could fix the interface for netflix or any other streaming site.

Evan

I have a soft spot for Gremlins, but one or two scenes did scare me as a kid. Billy (the main character) was an early childhood crush.

JohnnyUtah

What a great lineup! Here's to feeling better!

Vincent Vega

Gremlins with Carly will be hilarious! Can't wait to see that one! Can't believe you've never seen Christmas Carol before??? Unless you've seen other versions? 🤷🏾‍♂️ If you thought 2001 Space Odyssey was weird, wait till you watch A Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy which, I assume you've never seen before either. Hope you all have a fantastic Christmas in case I don't get a chance to say so later, and I can't wait for a Gremlins reaction! (If she can handle Tremors, she can handle Gremlins! 🙂)

Katie Sivak

Carly would like Gremlin’s it’s not scary

Byrd N. Hand

Yes, "Gremlins," "Temple of Doom," and "Sixteen Candles" are largely cited as the movies that led to the PG-13 rating. For the record, I was 6 when my dad first took my cousin and me to see "Gremlins," yet we weren't even remotely traumatized. WTF happened to our society?!? 🤷‍♂️

Katie Sivak

Do a Ben Cassie Carly watch along of Gremlins

Teemu Laitinen

That's why it's so great that there are so many adaptations. One for everyone.

clutchkman

I'm afraid Carly might hate us all forever if we recommended that she watch it, but it would make for a fun reaction. It's actually comical, and not that bad, but maybe a little more scary than you'd think. If that makes sense. I think she could handle it.

David Allan

Gremlins will be fine, it's very dark humour as it takes the mickey out of old horror b movies

Charles Briggs

Finally back to the snyderverse and after Wonder Woman (2017) then comes the masterpiece Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) 😍😍

Fanny Adams

Safe to assume we can just cut and paste last week's update for Patreon for this week's YT uploads?? TKS

Frank Edwards

Info is in the previous "I need your help" post that can only be partially seen so you must have to be a member of Patreon to view it or get the invite to help build it

Ray Pennisi

Ben could be in silhouette with a voice changer, just like people in witness protection being interviewed by reporters.

Clay F

What a stellar week = GoT, Wonder Woman, Christmas Carol. Been wanting WW (2017) with or without a Justice League follow up. That Christmas Carol is supposed to be the best. I enjoyed Patrick Stewart one. Yay to Rankin/Bass. See you at two Lives (12/18, 12/21). What's cool about Extra Butter Live (12/21) is small gathering. Glad you getting your energy/health back. Excited about the new website (a supplement) that Ben did. Been checking it out and really liking it. I created a playlist of my favorite PiB reactions. Also, leaving feedback about the website for Ben in the forum. Ben is incredibly responsive. The new Popcorn Requests is fresh and so easy to use w/cool features.

David Bockly

it must be a "Kernel Club"/" Extra Butter" perk as I am a member of Patreon ( "Little Kernal") and I have no access to it either :-{

Bryan David

Looking forward to the "Wonder Woman" reaction. I think it's the best of all the Snyderverse.

Dan

I totally think Carly could handle gremlins. She may cover her eyes in one scene, but it should be fine.

Clay F

Agree

Dean Holt

I’m sure Poltergeist was one of the movies. Never heard Gremlins was one as even as a kid never found it scary tbh.

Brian Wood

Gremlins and Temple of Doom prompted Speilberg to ask the MPAA to come up with the PG13 rating

Joseph C Wallace

Wonder Woman is such a strange movie. The script really does have this holdover from Bush-era interventionist politics, and it's such a fetter on the talents of Patty Jenkins.

Jay Jay Reyes

Yes. Gremlins are like little bad kids compared to Gizmo the little Angel. It's not scary

Brian Wood

George C Scott is considered by most to be the second best if not the best performance of Scrooge. I go back and forth between him and the 1951 Alistair Sim version.

Clay F

I think Little Kernel will be able to use the new website, at least the new Popcorn Requests at the new website. But the invite below for Beta evaluation.

Clay F

The new Popcorn Requests at the new website gives this. The points for ranking: Free Members - 0 points Little Kernel - 5 points Popcorners - 7 Kernel Club - 10 Extra Butter - 12

TinCan Cosmanaut

Yes!!! More Snyder. I really just want them to see the finale!

Clay F

Gremlins (PG) helped to usher in the new PG-13 rating. Carly could handle Gremlins? She may or may not like it. Carly would like Wonder Woman (2017). I am pumped that we finally getting Wonder Woman (2017).

Clay F

Ditto. But I will watch Gremlins with the reaction.

K, Zachary

Dear Popcorn In Bed Family, and 100% Awesome PIB viewers, About last week: I admit we only watched 9 months. We going to watch something last night but your Canadian friend Kat put out Netflix's Frankstiein my buddy showed up which then we watched another Kat movie. Evil Dead 2. So still need to watch 2/3. Tonight we promised to add to Ben's page he put together, which by the way we both thought was a wonderful idea. You guys impress us. I am not easily impressed. The week ahead: We will be playing catch up which always nice. Wonder Woman great flick. More GOT nice Christmas hat on the Raven. We were hoping for the 2019 Christmas Carol with Guy Pearce or the 1954 Alister Sim version. We realize that the 2019 version is a mini series of 4 episodes. Facts that I was made aware of but was probably largely aware of. However whatever you do is good. So we still watch it. I really need to pick songs Cassie might like. Not just me, my head is full of fun 60's songs. With all the snow we have been getting I think this is perfect song 🤞: Btw the girl playing the tambourine was Sharon Tate's best friend Michelle Phillips. She is also on the video cover. Mamma's And The Pappas, California Dreaming. https://youtu.be/KOok1WzZbOY?si=Vr5KTk43vHTKqM1m

Adam Doyle

Yes. People are always shocked to find out the JAWS was rated PG, hence why parents felt fine to take their kids to see it, which scared a generation about sharks, and actually led to an upswing in shark fears and hunting.

Milton Reduxed

There's definitely some moments in Gremlins Carly will want to look away but it's much tamer than Zodiac

Stick Figure Studios

I'm actually a little surprised at all the people here saying that GREMLINS is "not at all scary" and that they think that it will be no big deal at all for Carly. I'm wondering a) when was the last time they watched the film and how desensitized are they to horror in general b) if they have watched any of your reactions with her. Carly has to be the most fearful and sensitive viewer I've ever seen on YT. Don't get me wrong. She's great and I love her, but anything that's even remotely scary/ horrific/suspenseful is very difficult for her and GREMLINS, though it does have its sweet moments and is really more of a black comedy, also at times leans pretty hard into horror filmmaking. Yes, it is PG, but so was POLTERGEIST. Also, it and the second Indiana Jones film basically helped start the PG-13 rating. Am I saying that Carly shouldn't watch it? Absolutely not. I think it's a great film and should be seen by everyone (including Carly). Can she handle it? Well, she probably won't be covering her face with a blanket like she did in WHAT LIES BENEATH and in the end I think she may end up having enjoyed it (or at least appreciate it for its cleverness and wackiness), but there are times where I think it'll be a little rough for her.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, GREMLINS and TEMPLE OF DOOM basically showed that there needed to be another rating in between PG and R. PG-13 ended up being just that rating... And yet, to this day, GREMLINS is still rated PG.

Stick Figure Studios

7-year-olds for nowadays maybe, but not 7-year-olds in 1984.

Geoff S.

The absolute best version of a Christmas Carol! Finally! Yes, she can watch Gremlins with you!

Archive23

Almost time for the Snyder's Justice League! 4 hours of awesomeness! ❤️

Stick Figure Studios

I have to say that I am very much looking forward to two of your reactions this week. WONDER WOMAN is a (no pun intended) wonderful film. Probably the best of the Snyderverse movies. It is very similar to both the first Chris Evans CAPTAIN AMERICA movie and the old 1978 SUPERMAN ) The latter of which was an admitted influence on director Patty Jenkins). I'm confident you will enjoy it. Many people despise the sequel, but In spite of its numerous flaws I actually really like it myself and would recommend watching that one at some point too. This made for TV version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL Is one of the best IMO. George C. Scott (who you might remember from PATTON and ANATOMY OF A MURDER) plays a more subdued but also more realistic/believable Scrooge. It is very faithful to the original Dickens story and goes to some dark places that adaptations don't typically go. It is moody and atmospheric and just overall very well crafted. I'm glad you are getting a chance to watch this and I think the idea of doing some version of the classic book very holiday season is a great one. Next I would recommend the 1951 version with Alastair Sim. It is widely considered the definitive screen adaptation. I might also suggest the Robert Zemeckis CGI version with Jim Carrey. It is also worth seeing. As always, keep up the good work. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

1. If we're recommending FF for Pedro Pascal, then I recommend King Arthur (2004) for Ioan Gruffudd. Justice for Ioan! :-) 2. By the way, if your reasoning was WW - > WW84 - > Pedro Pascal, while I too am looking forward to WW, I can do without the sequel. YMMV.

shireknight

Gremlins is definitely a Carly movie, can't believe neither of you have ever seen it, it was released in cinemas at the same time as Ghostbusters.

Happy Hanukkah

Will we get a new Carly mantra: "They’re just puppets they’re just puppets they’re just puppets"? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

I shall wear a Santa hat ... nevermore.

Mike Redford

Glad you're watching more of the rankin/bass classics. For me they're still like a warm reminder from when christmas never felt stronger, as a kid. I know the stop motion puppet aesthetics creep people out sometimes lol, but it's got its charm. I think Carly can handle Gremlins btw. That would be a fun react. Glad you're feeling a bit better!

Happy Hanukkah

"I will take a plate of warm gingersnaps." I will take a swig of ginger schnapps. "We had a beginner band concert to attend last night and let me just tell you-that was also a ride" The Music Man (1962), anyone? "the website-Ben has truly spent hundreds of hours" I would like to thank Ben for all... "Ben never saw it [Gremlins] either!" Get rid of the nekulturny philistine! :-)

Clay F

IMDb Parents guide- Content rating, which I don't always agree with, but seems ok for this list. GREMLINS and WHAT LIES BENEATH Violence & Gore: Moderate Frightening & Intense Scenes: Moderate WONDER WOMAN (2017) Violence & Gore: Moderate Frightening & Intense Scenes: Mild WE WERE SOLDIERS (2002) Violence & Gore: Severe Frightening & Intense Scenes: Severe ZODIAC (2007) Violence & Gore: Moderate Frightening & Intense Scenes: Severe GLADIATOR (2000) Violence & Gore: Severe Frightening & Intense Scenes: Severe GLADIATOR II (2024) Violence & Gore: Severe Frightening & Intense Scenes: Moderate

Bill Maurer

That is what I am waiting for ...

Bill Maurer

huh ??? Are we talking about the same movie ??? I don't want to give out any spoilers.

Bill Maurer

Looking forward for them to watch Zach's Justice League !

Joseph C Wallace

Oh yes, the scene after the gas is deployed is followed up by a lot of moralizing about how "someone should have done something"

Dean Holt

What scared her in What Lies Beneath I think was more not knowing where he was when she was driving on the bridge. And it was not wanting the jump scare. Gremlins is more visual so if the look of one of them doesn’t scare her I think she will be ok. But i know I’m completely different regarding movies but i was about 8 when i watched it and I loved it & still do.

Clay F

Dean, you may could be making a good point. Apples and oranges. I think Carly could probably handle Gremlins. She may be better able to handle Wonder Woman and like Wonder Woman better. Maybe Carly will watch both Gremlins and WW.

Joe J

Carly can watch Gladiator I & II....and Gremlins "may" be too much for her, lol. 🙄

Dean Holt

It’s a shame about City Slickers getting moved back as I was looking forward to it. I could understand if it was for a Christmas movie but I don’t get why it’s been dropped off for Wonder Woman. I would have definitely preferred Cassie watching a Christmas movie instead of WW as it looks like we might just get 3 movies this year & those terrible cartoons. So there’s really only Gremlins I’ve got any interest in watching. I know lots of you love it but I’ll definitely be glad when GoT is over.

Dean Holt

Clay I obviously could be wrong, but thought she was definitely watching WW as I thought she was watching all the DC movies with Cassie

Clay F

Good points Dean and Joe. I added Gladiator.

Mark Vaderr

If Carly said "furbies?" Then you did not show her a picture of a gremlin.

Joe J

WW is probably this week due to Carly's availability.

YodatheHobbit

Heal the Snyderworld.... make it a better place.... for you and for me and the entire metahuman race. 🎤😩

Richard Maurer

HH - as far as actors who played Reed Richards go Ioan is no Pedro. Or John Krasinski for that matter. And no one should watch WW84 under any circumstances.

Chris Thom

Gremlins is definitely Carly-safe...but the degree to which either of you will really enjoy it? Zero clue. But I do think you will be able to appreciate the creativity and craft that went into it. Very unique, very fantastical. And with enough Spielberg (literal) input to make it a bit of a holiday classic. Happy Christmas!

Stick Figure Studios

To be clear, I'm not saying that GREMLINS is as scary as POLTERGEIST or JAWS. I was just using those films as a counterpoint to everyone who highlighted the fact that GREMLINS Is PG. My point was that just being PG doesn't mean it can't be really scary. It is true that she has seen worse, but I'm not sure that is a particularly strong selling point to her. It won't be as bad as some of the movies she's reacted to on the channel, but by the same token she has really not enjoyed some of the movies she's watched here because of how scary they were. Again, as I say in my post, I think there are a lot of parts of it that Carly will really enjoy (that she will laugh at and even stare and disbelief at how outrageous it is). I just disagree with everyone who says that it is not at all scary. Perhaps it is not at all scary TO YOU, but Carly is an exceptional human being when it comes to the "scare" value of movies. Can she handle it? I'm not sure. That sort of depends on what one means by "handle." So many people here seem to be so confident that she'll have no trouble whatsoever and I guess it won't permanently scar her, but I still think that it will not be a pleasant experience for her at certain points. To reiterate, that doesn't mean that I don't think she should watch it. I think she should, but I also think everybody here is underrating the ability that this movie has to instill fear in certain audiences.

Art of Free Speech

Oh, Carly watching Gremlins would be a Christmas gift to us all!!!

Art of Free Speech

If nothing else, watching Carly watch Gremlins will be entertaining.

Chris Thom

How did you like Gremlins? Think you would've seen it differently watching as a child?

Chris Thom

The cuteness literally transforming to terror might upset her a bit. But she'll be alright. Hopefully. Lol. But then again I did think she would be ok with What Lies Beneath.

Bill Maurer

"someone should have done something" ... and this relates to Bush ??? You can take the same "someone should have done something" on more movies than this and way before Bush was ever elected. No idea on where you got "someone should have done something" unless you want looking for it. Besides, this is a WWI movie WAY, WAY before Bush was ever in office

Happy Hanukkah

Wait, we are approaching Christmas, you say? It is December 2025, and I hereby advocate for *that* version of The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996). [#012] Dedicated to Richard Maurer.

Clay F

Looks like we getting this Christmas content: A Christmas Carol Gremlins (poll winner) Meet Me in St. Louis (poll winner) Rankin/Bass (1 or 2) - Hoping for Rudolph (1964), Frosty the Snowman. I am most looking forward to Rankin/Bass (which I grew up on those two), A Christmas Carol (never seen), and Meet Me in St. Louis (never seen). I understand your point but I am glad we getting WW now. I love her GoT reactions -- some of her most invested/absorbed reactions on the channel, for sure more than any movie she has reacted to. I am not looking forward to City Slickers but I am keeping an open mind and will watch the reaction, and happy for you and my other fellow patrons who wanted City Slickers. Same goes for Gremlins.

Stick Figure Studios

I was thinking the same thing. She probably saw a picture of Gizmo.

Stick Figure Studios

I'm sure Carly can handle WONDER WOMAN because she's already seen it and liked it. This will be a rewatch for her.

Stick Figure Studios

I Love GREMLINS. It's one of my favorite films. I try to watch it every year if I can. Although I did not see it in the theaters when it was released (I was 8 years old and my parents thought it would just be too scary for me, although they did take me to see GHOSTBUSTERS several times, so make sense of that), I did eventually watch it on home video and thought it was pretty intense. I had to get a little older before I could appreciate the satirical edge that the movie had. I just took it at face value as a kid and didn't realize there was a whole other layer to it.

Richard Maurer

HH - Sure, why not watch “that” version of Island of Dr Moreau (96), as long as it’s a double feature with Horror of Dracula so one actually good movie will get watched.

Stick Figure Studios

Well, the worms in TREMORS were also puppets and remember how she reacted to that movie.

Joseph C Wallace

How old were you when the Iraq War took place? The whole discourse around it was interventionist and that the insufficiency of the UN inspectors findings on weapons production should not be taken as evidence that there was not an Iraqi nuclear weapons program; the famous quote at the time was that "we should not wait for the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud." Failure to preempt a perceived aggressor was instrumental in justifying that war, just as surely as it is instrumental in the logic of this film's moral schema. The conceit that this cannot possibly apply to a fictionalized fantasy account of WW1 is depressingly literal-minded, notwithstanding the fact that outside of the pop-history account of that war, we do extensively see it embodied moral calls for preemptive action against supposed future calamity, ie, the Kaiserreich's framing of the Russian "Great Programme," the need for both sides to guarantee Belgian "neutrality" against the other, etc. Even if this movie hadn't been developed from a script that had been reworked continually from the early Bush years onward, the analogy would still fit.

Richard Maurer

Joe - Carly gets scared ridiculously easy by “horror” films. I didn’t think it was possible for What Lies Beneath to scare an adult as badly as it scared Carly, but it did.

Happy Hanukkah

For *Christ*mas, we will be getting pagan gods! :-)

Dean Holt

I just think watching WW a missed spot for a Xmas film, especially with Cassie not taking a break from GoT. Not sure if it’s just an American thing but I don’t remember ever watching any of the Rank Bass cartoons as a kid in the U.K. so i don’t have any nostalgia for them. Hate to sound like the grinch 😂 but I’m a bit disappointed with what gets watched over the festival period this year, as it’s only Gremlins I’m really interested in watching out of the Christmas films.

John A

Jesus you people really need to stop coddling these two. Gremlins, are you serious? They both can handle gremlins no problem. Cassie can handle the exorcist too, it's a shame she's already been convinced she cant

Dean Holt

Joe, Still it’s a shame she not picked a Christmas movie as there’s only 3 films getting watched this year

Sven S

I bet it was a picture of a mogwai

Happy Hanukkah

I'd also consider the context. In Wonder Woman, we start right off with a warrior society, and are then informed we are headed to the Great War. All the violence we do see is of the standard PG-13 sanitized kind. Whereas in Gremlins, we start off as a child friendly small-town Christmas movie with adorable little Gizmo and then get the graphic kitchen scene.

Above Average Dave

Good analogy re Wonder Woman and Captain America. In the comics they both serve as the moral core and conscience of their respective groups — Justice League and The Avengers. Or they were, until Marvel Comics started mucking with Captain America. I'm sure the MCU will do the same. Anyway, Wonder Woman is a great movie and I predict there isn't a minute of it Cassie won't love.

Chris Thom

Well with What Lies Beneath she just totally opted out of October after that. And she said on the podcast she's still holding a grudge about it. So I don't know what to think, other than I know for a fact she wants to be properly warned about this stuff. It's a bit annoying, but it is what it is. She's very sensitive to movies.

Molly Edwards

Gremlins is Carly friendly! I swear it got moved to a 12A in the UK, think that’s PG13 in the USA? Not sure might be wrong. We’ve been watching it every Christmas Eve in my house since I was 9/10, such a classic

JohnnyUtah

It's gotta be the Snyder cut though

Clay F

Thanks Stick. I didn't know or I forgot that Carly had seen WW.

Clay F

John -- I think she convinced herself she couldn't handle The Exorcist.

Larry Darrell

I’m not a big fan of the Rankin Bass cartoons either. Not something I’ve ever watched regularly. There are a bunch of Christmas films though that I do watch every year and they’re awesome, and I’m sure Cassie hasn’t seen them. I’ve never fully understood why we get a whole month of Horror/Scary movies in October, but only a few Christmas films, especially when the genre has so many great ones, that Cassie hasn’t seen. The only reasons I can come up with is a great number of people don’t like Christmas films, or Cassie still has the wrong idea that she has seen “all the good ones.”

Happy Hanukkah

We've got a deal. And the segue will be the good Doctor intoning: "The horror ... the horror ... of Dracula."

Brent Petty

This. Cassie, you should Google "bad Gremlin leader" and show her that.

Geoff S.

There are moments in the Christmas Carol she’s watching that are far scarier than Gremlins. Just saying.

Stick Figure Studios

Perhaps so, Geoff, but Carly won't be watching A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Cassie's doing that one by herself.

Arturo

👀 Carly can watch it, just have a blanket with googly eye ready.

Johnny Bullis

Its so exciting to think Christmas is only 2 weeks away now.. sheesh time flies. Feels like just yesterday we were still getting 80 degree weather now BAM.. Christmas. I hope your family has an amazing time Cassie. I am excited cause I can actually watch your unboxing event.. I hope you like what I sent. And Gremlins is more gross at times than scary.. a lot more slap-sticky than anything. So if she can handle gross.. she'll be fine. And I believe 5:30pm MST is 7:30pm EST?

Stick Figure Studios

"If nothing else, watching Carly watch Gremlins will be entertaining." No disagreement here.

Stick Figure Studios

@Happy: you are right about the sudden, some would even say abrupt, shift in tone in GREMLINS from cute, family-friendly holiday movie in the spirit of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE to or more twisted B-movie creature feature. One of my favorite uses of Dutch angles in cinema (i.e. when the camera goes slightly askew to symbolically illustrate how something is "off" or not right) is in this movie and it's at the precise moment that the film makes that pivot.

Stick Figure Studios

Well, there is one part near the end that I think Cassie will not love, but I don't think it will affect her overall enjoyment of the movie.

Stick Figure Studios

I don't think you have to worry about that, Johnny. I can't imagine anybody recommending she watch the Joss Whedon cut.

Stick Figure Studios

He's excellent. I always thought he played a more restrained and subdued Scrooge. It's a character that one can usually go very over the top with in terms of the curmudgeonliness, but Scott gives him a strange kind of dignity and menace. He's almost more realistic/believable.

David Freese

Its not that she thinks she can't handle the Exorcist. She doesn't like the subject matter. Its a personal choice and boundary.

Stick Figure Studios

Interesting. I think it's a great movie. One of the most original, clever, imaginative and subversive films of the 1980s.

Stick Figure Studios

GREMLINS 2 Carly could definitely handle because it's not scary at all nor does it even try to be. That one just leans into the comedy.

Stick Figure Studios

Good film (and Dan Stevens is always worth watching), although I'm starting to get a little bit tired of this new subgenre of movies focusing on the authors behind these great works of literature rather than adapting the works themselves.

Tyler Hale

Snyderworld, lol that’s a new one for the Snyderverse

shireknight

I'm surprised at how many people are saying it's not suitable for Carly, the girl watched the Die Hard films and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Gremlins is a family friendly Christmas film lol and nowhere near as violent as those, Carly will love it. Cassie, please don't deprive Carly of this amazing 80's experience, trust me if she doesn't watch it with you I guarantee the next day you'll be kicking yourself and telling her to watch it.

Rene G.

Yes CARLY should watch gremlins esp the sequel, she's gonna find them cute! mwahahhaha

Rene G.

Good thing you didn't show Carly the ugly darker side of Gremlins otherwise, she'd be avoiding this like a plague!

Johnny Bullis

Who's saying it isnt? Majority of the top comments are pretty much saying she should watch it.

Rene G.

hahaha I was worried Cassie would show her the UGLY monster gremlins not the cute one when she said "I showed her a picture of Gizmo" and I went "WHEW THAT WAS TOO CLOSE!"

Rene G.

I almost got worried when I read the sentence "I showed Carly a picture of cute gremlin" And WHEW... If she showed her the ugly monster side of gremlins, she'd be like "NAH PASS, NOT HAPPENING I'M OUT!"

Rene G.

I was worried of her showing the UGLY disgusting gremlins too. if she showed her that picture, Carly like: "NAH SEE YOU NEXT YEAR BYE NOT WATCHING IT REEE!"

Rene G.

imagine Cassie googled the gremlin pictures and she showed her the UGLY friends of gizmo, Carly is like: "NAH, SEE YOU NEXT YEAR NOT WATCHING IT TOO SCARY REEEE!"

Just Plain Bob

Not excited about the Wonder Woman reaction. I thought it was fine, but unspectacular. To be fair, I’ve never liked DC Comics, other than Batman. Other DC characters, such as Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, etc, leave me cold. I’ve liked some of the Superman films but that has more to do with Christopher Reeves’ incredibly charming portrayal in the first two movies and Henry Cavill’s excellent portrayal of the character (within the confines of the Snyderverse) in his 2.5 shots at it. I’m more looking forward to the reaction to the director’s cut of Justice League, which is presumably in the offing. While I don’t consider it the masterpiece that some fans do, it’s certainly much much better than the butchered Frankenstein’s monster version that Joss Whedon unleashed on an unsuspecting public. It was as though he deliberately set out to destroy the film.

Mike Lemon

Look to the pre-2020 animated movies for DC. There are some great movies in there.

Just Plain Bob

Good point. I spent an entire weekend a couple of months back doing just that. I was surprised at how much I liked them. As I said, I’ve never been a fan of DC - the comics or the movies. But those animated films were surprisingly good.

Rene G.

For more christmas carly friendly movies, I'd suggest Krampus, Black CHristmas 1974, Silent Night Deadly Night, Violent Night!

Black_TYGR

I love Gremlins! Great Christmas movie to react to…glad to be a new member. Your eclectic mix and catalogue of reactions is quite impressive, Cassie. I know it was tons of work to get there!

Doc Larry/old geezer

It looks like another exciting week for PIB with some fun movies coming up. I’m really happy City Slickers won the poll—I think Carly would enjoy Gremlins too. It’s a blessing being part of this community. I’m looking forward to helping make Christmas a little brighter for those moms with children in the hospital. It’s truly joyful to be able to contribute. I’m also glad you’re feeling better, Cassie. I hope the rest of your Christmas season is filled with health and energy, and that you start the new year off right. PS The Christmas Carol you’ll be watching with George C. Scott is one of my favorites. It is a good adaptation.

Chris Thom

LOL. That cracked me up, HH. Growing up I thought of that scene quite often actually. John Candy dismissiveness is kind of comforting for a paranoid child.

Stick Figure Studios

Most people are saying that Carly will be fine. I was one of the ones who wasn't sure. I still think she should watch it, but let's remember that She got scared at CLUE.

HercEl

Gremlins I feel is around the same level as Monster Squad which I also think Carly would of been able to handle, quite a few movies that have horror elements, but used in either comedy or action like movies that I'll keep my fingers crossed for next year.

Stick Figure Studios

Agreed, Teemu. Scott is excellent. I always liked that he plays a more restrained and subdued Scrooge. It's a character that one can usually go very over the top with in terms of the curmudgeonliness, but Scott gives him a strange kind of dignity and menace. He's almost more realistic/believable.

People act like the newer generation are the most sensitive, but it was the Greatest Generations that had seen two world wars and still put in place all those extreme regulations for movies. A toilet couldn't even be seen in a movie until Psycho came along in 1960. America has always been a weird conundrum with those kinds of things. Puritans.

Clay F

PR 1-10 Poll (old PR, not new PR in beta) This month, we had PR 1-50 Poll (City Slickers - winner). She said might do PR 1-500 Poll next, but I suggest PR 1-10 Poll b/c good entries. Even she hoped that CHILDREN OF MEN (#4) would be picked in the random selection of candidates for the PR 1-50 Poll we had this month. I was 100% with her on that. After City Slickers is reacted to, updated PR Top 10 below. Great choices. My top 7 choices in order are Children of Men, The Blues Brothers, Scott Pilgrim, Dirty Harry, Casino, Training Day, Caddyshack – all good. PR 1-10 (Top 10) [#3 City Slickers removed] 1. Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2. The Blue Brothers 3. Children of Men 4. Jack Reacher 5. Casino 6. Training Day 7. Dirty Harry 8. The Thomas Crown Affair 9. Caddyshack 10. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Could include all 10 in a poll, or do a random selection of 1 or 2 to remove to give the remaining 8 or 9 for the poll

shireknight

I'm glad the tide has turned, this time yesterday morning it was very much heading in the other direction.

Canadianant

Yes Carly can watch gremlins but it along with Temple of Doom help create the pg13 rating "the controversial violence in Gremlins (and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom) led Steven Spielberg to suggest creating the PG-13 rating in 1984 as an intermediate between PG and R. The unexpectedly disturbing content in the seemingly child-friendly PG-rated film sparked public outcry, prompting the MPAA to introduce the new category. " Now alot of kids saw both those movies at school age maybe 10-12 years old so I think Carly might be okay lol keep the blanket shield handy though!

Kyle Villatoro

NIce!!!! cant wait for the christmas carol reaction

Clarence Newman

My tuppence-worth on Carly watching Gremlins. 1) If it was just Cassie, I wouldn't even comment. She'll adjust to the content and enjoy it for what it is. 2) If you're asking if Carly can "handle it", of course she can, she's a grown woman. 3) If you're asking if we think she'll enjoy it and not be asking "What are you making me watch?" from under a blanket, I'm not so sure. Carly has been very specific about what she *wants* to subject herself to and it's a very, very low bar (or high bar, not sure which term applies). For a completely up-to-date opinion, we decided to watch Gremlins last night. If you just focus on Gizmo, it's cute as a button. But it's important to note that Gizmo is not a "gremlin", and when the gremlins turn up, the Carly-friendly tag pretty much runs and hides. I'm not saying she shouldn't watch it - I think it would be a hilarious reaction, in fact, and given the subject matter, hardly something that will follow her out of the room and into her real life (which is her main concern with scary movies). But it's not a kid's movie, and if the picture you showed her was of Gizmo instead of Stripe, she *will* accuse you of false advertising. My advice to Cassie is, show her what Stripe looks like. If she still chooses to watch it after that, you're off the hook.

Richard Maurer

Larry - it’s a simple fact that there are many, many, more good horror films than there are Xmas ones. While saying she’s watched “all” the good ones is an exaggeration, it’s not a huge exaggeration. I mean many of the ones she’s watched so far are remakes of a Christmas Carol, if you need to watch remakes every year how many actually good ones can there be? Also there’s the simple fact that horror gets much more engagement, both on Patreon and YouTube, than Christmas movies. Knowing how Cassie feels about horror, you know there’s a reason she does a month of it compared to a few Christmas movies a year, that she tends to enjoy more. And she’s also seen a lot of the Christmas movies pre-channel, compared to basically no horror pre-channel.

Richard Maurer

I liked Wonder Woman a lot when I first saw it, a little less so on subsequent viewings, but I could say that for a lot of movies. I’ll definitely watch the reaction, the question is whether it’s the full movie or YouTube edit. I’m leaning toward the YT edit, mostly due to time constraints.

Chris Thom

Sometimes I just watch the end credits again with the music. The water color thing is pretty cool and vibey with the score. But in general think the last third of the movie is the best part.

Chris Thom

Yeah it went from 85 degrees to 48 degrees here literally overnight here and it f'd me up. I almost always get horribly sick with a quick change like that.

Chris Thom

Any scenes with Gizmo AND the gremlins together definitely freaked me out badly as a child. He just seemed so vulnerable and defenseless. Like a sheep among wolves.

Evan

If "syringe" and "Christmas tree" mean anything to you in this context, then yes you do ;)

Joe J

In her November 25 update, she mentioned doing a Pollception. She seems to have enough films already sorted for December. I'm on record as favoring both a PR random and Pollception every month...but Cassie chooses not to do that. She likes to mix it up more on a monthly basis.

TheOceanHunter

George C. Scott’s a Christmas Carol. That’s the best version, from my standpoint

John Rando

Not to ruin the immersion but they’re puppets. And it’s rated PG. Yes, Carly can handle Gremlins.

Catherine LW

She doesn’t want to watch The Exorcist based on her own personal boundaries which should be respected, not because someone “convinced” her.

Catherine LW

I look forward to the Rankin Bass Christmas movies too. Nostalgia. Awkward Ashley reacted to Frosty the Snowman and A Charlie Brown Christmas and it was fun. I was surprised to see she got 55K views in 3 days. Fared better than I thought it would.

Catherine LW

I love the Alistair Sims version. He’s so giddy on Christmas day and never fails to make me laugh every time I see it.

Catherine LW

Have you ever watched a pre-Hayes Code film?

John Rando

I don’t know why I found your #2 so funny. Only because we’re talking about Gremlins. Hey, it’s a legit question haha

Clay F

Good points Joe. I would be happy if she did the PR 1-10 poll the next time she decides to do a PR poll, say in Jan-Apr time frame. (But she mentioned PR 1-500 Poll, which I would be fine with that. Her choice. I am fine with any PR Poll.) PR-10 Poll looked juicy to me. CHILDREN OF MEN is a high request for me. Not sure if Children of Men would win PR-10 but would do well I think -- and possibly win. I am curious overall how the Top 10 would fair in a poll with current voting patrons.

Patrick Switzer

Looking forward to seeing the live on 12/18. One thing I have in common with Carly is watching matinees.

Patrick Switzer

My brother liked Patrick Stewart's A Christmas Carol as do I. Unfortunately he died of lung in November 2000. But I am getting into Christmas spirit

John A

Nah I don't think I will

Clay F

For me, full reaction all the way. I rarely watch YT edits. I have setup at my desk (w/side table) that I watch full reactions while working. For watching a reaction in which I've seen the movie several times (including recently), the experience doesn't distract that much from work = no need to focus much on the movie. In contrast, if a movie I haven't seen or haven't seen in a long time, or requires reading English subtitles, then I have to focus on the movie and that is more distracting from work.

Chris Thom

If she goes to Disneyland again maybe she can watch WFRR just because of the ride. Not sure what poll it would even fit on.

Chris Thom

Welcome. Lots of good vids on the channel. There's some on YouTube that are really good that don't have a ton of views, relatively. But actually some her best IMO.

Chris Thom

Hanukkah bringing the Christmas coal again.

Chris Thom

It is pretty creepy. But that's part of the fun. Gives it a weird edge.

Clarence Newman

Trying to cover all bases, John. When it comes to her ‘scariness’ threshold, Carly is a riddle inside an enigma wrapped in a blanket.

Chris Thom

Ready for GOT to be over too. It's been a LOT of episodes already.

Dean Holt

Unfortunately Chris she’s only about half way through.

Chris Thom

I step away a lot and appreciate when Cassie talks over a scene. But fact is, a lot of her reactions to things are way more in facial expressions and body language.

DAVID COSTELLO

She should watch "The Man Who Invented Christmas" about Charles Dickens writing A Christmas Carol. It's very good.

Clay F

+1 for "The Man Who Invented Christmas". I was hoping that would be in the poll -- but I guess would not have mattered with Gremlins dominating. That poll was over almost before it started.

Happy Hanukkah

Someday it shall become a diamond! :-)

Clay F

As you know and seemed to like, THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES (1976) is a western that CLINT EASTWOOD directed and starred. In the same 1970s-80s time frame, there are two more westerns that Clint Eastwood directed and starred = you get Eastwood storytelling, same handsome looks, and similar demeanor: 1. PALE RIDER (1985) [RT 94%]. Highest grossing western of the 1980s. Released same year as Silverado you reacted to. 2. HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER (1973) [RT 94%]. 3 years before Outlaw Josey Wales. Eastwood in those two is more like the Eastwood of Outlaw Josey Wales than the Eastwood of the spaghetti western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966).

David

classic christmas poll are one magic christmas home alone 2 lost in new york prancer march of the wooden soldiers disney frozen beauty and the beast love actually fred claus harry potter and the chamber of secrets winner Christmas movie special

Stick Figure Studios

"Nothing like a nice piece of hickory.' Clint Eastwood is one of my favorite directors and PALE RIDER is one of his most underappreciated films I think. A lot of people dismiss it as a mere remake of SHANE, but I think there's more going on than there appears to be on the surface. I was introduced to it at age 10. It was actually one of the first R-rated movies I ever watched and I could tell that it was a film that was not made with me (a child) in mind. I didn't necessarily have difficulty following it but I could tell that it was a more sophisticated and mature piece of work. It was one that I was going to have to sort of "grow into" and it opened my eyes to the fact that there's a whole lot of cinema out there that is intended for adults. It gave me something to look forward to. HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER was Eastwood's first Western that he directed and it is very good, but some elements are might be a bit too problematic for slightly younger audiences today. I'm not saying it shouldn't get a reaction, but I could see it not resonating with Cassie as much as PR.

Stick Figure Studios

This is a very sane response and more or less echoes my own.

Stick Figure Studios

I agree, Chris... particularly the part where the Gremlins *REACTED* Gizmo to a *REDACTED* and throw *REDACTED* at him.

Stick Figure Studios

That is a good film and I liked it (plus Dan Stevens is always worth watching), but I personally am starting to get a little bit tired of this new subgenre of movies focusing on the authors behind these great works of literature rather than adapting the works themselves.

Chris Thom

That sounds good. Never heard of it. That's a newer movie?

Chris Thom

So sorry for your loss. RIP to your brother.

DAVID COSTELLO

Yes. Christopher Plummer is Scrooge. I thought everyone did a good job. There's only so many Christmas Carols I can sit through.

DAVID COSTELLO

Yeah. He certainly isn't very heroic in that one, although the imagery is first rate.

Byrd N. Hand

Of course, Gizmo is actually a *mogwai,* so Cassie technically didn't show her a gremlin...

Stick Figure Studios

Ah, see, I never get tired of the Christmas Carol story myself.

Chris Thom

She said herself that she will walk away from a movie completely if the music cues get too dark and foreboding. Cassie does this fulltime so she'll just deal with it for her job. But Carly already has a career and just sees this as a side gig. So yeah even Gremlins has to get debated for her to even show up.

Chris Thom

What Lies Beneath was PG-13.

Happy Hanukkah

SFS: "I personally am starting to get a little bit tired..." Fine. I challenge you to apply your preference to The Professor and the Madman (2019). :-P :-)

Chris Thom

Is there some new bot attached to Patreon or something? Everything feels delayed now. Like every time you click something it takes three times as long as it used to. And every time I come to the site it asks me accept the cookies and the anti-privacy or whatever the hell, and it never asked that before. Anyone know what that is?

Frank Edwards

Probably would have been nice if you had gotten an answer as you can see it wasn't a cut and paste from last week's patreon for this week's YouTube uploads

Clay F

By exec decision (not pollception) Agree that western genre unlikely to win a pollception. Thus, she would have to make executive decision to have a western poll or to simply react to a western (e.g., Pale Rider) that she wants to watch (no poll). No pre-1950 westerns. Don't think Cassie (nor am I) interested in older (e.g., pre-1950 or even pre-1960) westerns. She has referred to old "dusty" westerns her dad used to watch. I watched High Noon (1952) recently and thought ok. I fully watched Shane (1953) [AFI Top 100] a couple of months ago and was pulling my hair out listening to that annoying kid (nom for Oscar). I was not big on The Searchers (1956), though I did like that it somehwat dark and thus before its time, and the way Cassie quasi-mocked John Wayne.

Tyler Hale

I guess we’re team Release the Ayer Cut in Suicide Squad

Richard Maurer

Not a fan of older Westerns in general but Shane is an exception - good movie Imo.

Chris Thom

It just keeps asking me for consent to give data to third parties or something. Every time I log on. And then the site is glitchy the whole time. Not sure what's going on it never happened before.

kaiielle

Chris, are you manually logging out of Patreon when you're done? Also, did you change your browser settings to clear cookies/cache every time you close your browser?

Milton Reduxed

Try updating your browser to the latest version Also try deleting all cookies for the site

Chris Thom

Oh not sure. The computer did do a big Windows and Google update recently.

Happy Hanukkah

Yep. And Sean Penn. (I didn't particularly enjoy it.) Very unspecific "plot" description to explain my joke: the movie deals with the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary. Looking it up, I see Ioan Gruffudd was also in the movie.

John A

Switch to the Brave browser anyway, even if that's not the issue here

John A

Josey Wales is the best western ever made

John A

If she's gonna watch more John Wayne I think she'd like McLintock the most

Clay F

My favorite. I also like 3:10 to Yuma (2007).

John A

Imagine being a kid and watching this movie no problem, then going online and seeing a bunch of adults trying to decide if a grown woman can handle a PG 13 movie about a bunch of puppets

Clay F

If she watches another John Wayne western, she wants to watch the one with Jimmy Stewart in it.

Mike Lemon

It's been that way for me for a month or so. Clarence mentioned it a little while ago too.

Mike Lemon

@John A- Why? Just for the ad blocker/ privacy? I like Ublock better myself, but Brave is fine for my phone.

Rene G.

and I almost forgot a rare christmas movie recomend for you: Return to Oz. You might recognize the waterboy actress in it!!

Scott

I'm not sure which day it is, but a big Happy Birthday to Cassie this week

Clay F

Do you have a VPN on?

DAVID COSTELLO

High Noon is a must since she loves Grace Kelly

Clay F

Grace Kelly is stunning in High Noon. I also like Helen.

Richard Maurer

I ended up watching the full reaction. Thought Cassie and Carly didn’t have much to say during their watch though. Felt like I was at a movie theater with a couple of mostly quiet people sitting near me.

Richard Maurer

If she watches another series after this I hope it’s a short one. Or one I like. Preferably both.

Doug Law

Thrilled that you will be doing the 1984 production of A Christmas Carol. By far my favorite with powerful performances from George C. Scott and Edward Woodward.

Ismael Wali

Can you continue the DCEU in this order: Suicide Squad (2016) → Wonder Woman (2017) → Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) → Aquaman (2018). Canon places JL before Aquaman, so this keeps the Snyderverse arc coherent and should boost discovery with ZSJL.

Byrd N. Hand

So basically she's the exact same age as Taylor Swift...

SeanATX

Please finish GOT season 4 before your Christmas hiatus!

bgb1975 (Brian)

Packages tonight! Can't wait! (Anyone got an extra life they don't need? lol)

Stewart Menzies

Gremlins is a fun movie from the 80's i think. Gotta watch Gremlins 2 as well. Love it.

Seabass

Yes Carlie can handle Gremlins no problem. But I am so surprised that she's never even heard of it, and that both Ben and her have never seen it. I personally loved that movie as a kid, and I still think it's a fun watch.

Seabass

Reading this whole thing was not that easy. There is so much stuff, so many expressions and jargon I don't understand. I mean, I understood 99% of it. But I think that by doing so many different events, things get messy and overly complicated. Sometimes less is more. I can't decide what I'm interested in because there's too many different options (a well known phenomenon afflicting humans). I only retained the Gremlins reaction (but maybe no YT version?) and that you're doing charity for kids in the hospitals (but the details already escaped my smooth brain). I guess my point is that to me, there's no added value in doing so many differents things. I much prefer a simpler channel, or simpler Patreon, with regular uploads and a straightforward schedule. When there are too many different polls, special events, lives, fundraising, categories, etc... it pushes me away towards less complicated offers. Cheers and happy holidays!

David
