HappySad

please please Birdcage!

KyloJames

One Hour Photo! 😱

Romero Cetera Rivers

They are all great Robin Williams performances! 🎭🎭🎭

Chris Retzlaff

Theres no way I would ever subject Cassie to Worlds greatest dad...🤣🤣

Tinker

Awakenings is incredible. True story, fantastic cast, Robin Williams is phenomenal.

Ryan Towell

Birdcage is so fun.. great cast including the late great Gene Hackman...

Brandon

I want to vote for insomnia, but that means no Carly...

Chris Retzlaff

Awakenings is so good....DeNiro is amazing Just fantastic

Tomt39

The world According to Garp is so awesome!

Michael G

If we are not all voting for The Birdcage, then what are we really doing here

Tim Weaver

I went garp, insomnia and the fisher king

MGCR

As long as it's not Bicentennial Man, Popeye or Patch Adams...

Mike Hell

One Hour Photo is Robin Williams' best performance. To me, anyway.

Thomas Cooney

Awakenings is by far the best movie, but also sad and based on a true story. Birdcage is probably second best and hilarious. One hour photo and insomnia ( early Christopher Nolan) are the most “you’ve never seen him in a role like this” —BUT, we’re talking the legend here. It’s gonna be hard to miss on this one.

Stephen Last

While filming One Hour Photo, he did an episode of Whose Line is it Anyways? Arguably the best episode of that show.

Myth Oceanas

I love the Birdcage but my favorite moment was the Nathan Lane clip when they were on Opra after the movie and Robin Williams derailed Oprah’s line of questioning over Nathan being gay.

First Name Ella

Birdcage for comedy, Awakenings for tears, Insomnia for scares

Stick Figure Studios

I'm with you on BICENTENNIAL MAN and PATCH ADAMS, but POPEYE is a gem.

Tara ✨💫

Birdcage!! Robin Williams, Nathan Lane and Gene Hackman in a comedy… Again, Gene Hackman in a comedy.

Stick Figure Studios

Cassie in her GOOD WILL HUNTING outro: "Just don't make me watch a movie where he's a bad guy." Ironically, two of the three movies leading the poll are INSOMNIA and ONE HOUR PHOTO. Guess what he plays in those. ;-)

Tone Branson

Don't sleep on The World According to Garp. It's weird, funny, heartbreaking and unlike anything he ever did.

Tinker

I just noticed Dead Again! I have to say its my favorite Robin Williams performance. I know short Cameo but it just has stayed with me since I first saw it. This one would be great with Cassie!!!

Morgan A. Colbert

I love few movies as much as I love the Birdcage, it's endlessly quotable.

Shehab Dawoud

Y’all always gotta ruin it.. Maybe she’ll also watch the runner up, which is Awakenings at the moment. That would at least be a consolation prize.

Stick Figure Studios

I'm going with THE FISHER KING because it's one of my favorite films (and another one of the five that I submitted as a trivia winner), and AWAKENINGS because that's just such a tender (to use one of Carly's words) movie with two great performances by both Robin Williams (this was the film that showed me that he could do serious drama) and Robert De Niro (who was nominated for an Oscar). I would love to see POPEYE win because that is such a woefully underappreciated film, but I don't see that happening, so I'm not wasting a vote on it.

Dan M

This list, plus the movies that you’ve already seen, is a testament to the incredible body of work Robin Williams left us before he passed. My top 4 choices…Awakenings, Patch Adams, The Birdcage, and Bicentennial Man. I’m willing to bet you will love all four of these movies.

Blake Evans

All of these are wonderful but it has to be The Birdcage! "Marsha Graham, Marsha Graham" Patch Adams and Bicentennial Man are super saccharin but i love them. Fingers crossed for Insomnia and One Hour Photo to see a "different" side of Robins Williams.

Dean Holt

I know it probably wouldn’t have won anyway but Cadillac Man is one of the best comedy’s he’s done imo. But voting for One Hour Photo and Insomnia just because I think Cassie needs to see more of his more serious roles.

Rosario Cicero

Popeye would be a good bad movie to watch

Jason Weiner

You've now seen his best and tho he's mostly great in all of these they are all meh. Popeye is the most fun and probably memorable.

Henry Graham

God, there are some weird movies here. Death to Smoochy, World's Greatest Dad and Popeye are all fascinatingly nutty projects. I expect The Birdcage will win and there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting a bit of Nichols and May on the channel, but I do think Insomnia deserves more reactions. It feels like the forgotten Nolan film these days, but I'd rank it as one of his very best and Pacino's performance is magnificent. EDIT: I just spotted Dead Again on the poll too - that movie is an absolute riot!

Daniel John

Birdcage going to win (I haven't seen it myself) but Pacino and Williams in a Nolan movie? Soooo good and underrated. Doubt it wins but here's to hoping. Nolan the man

Schmidty

Your style is 1000 patch adams... you will laugh... you will cry.... you will love it.

Ronnie

I think the world according to Garp is his best movie.

Larry Darrell

I’ll be very surprised if anything beats The Birdcage. The battle for second is Awakenings, Insomnia and The Fisher King. This is the dark Robin Williams list. Has Cassie already seen all his funny ones?? Wait a moment… Nope.

John Liebling

Birdcage is fun. Awakenings and Bicentennial Man are powerful. Based on the story and acting Birdcage is a B+ While Awakenings and Bicentennial Man are both A++.

Mike Lemon

One of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood. I remember hearing about him "coming out" and just thinking, ' he wasn't out already?'.

Shad Kanyak

You’ve seen the good ones already. Popeye is Howard the Duck level bad.

Stick Figure Studios

Or you could just vote for THE FISHER KING and get all three in one package.

Vak

She'd love that one, but it's largely forgotten today - kind of a footnote from when Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson were in a ton of movies together during their marriage. They DID have fantastic on-screen chemistry. Fun little movie, great cast.

Justin S.

Dead Again doesn't have a chance at winning but it's a very underrated movie. Good combination of mystery, suspense and romance. Robin Williams has a small part but is very good in the time he has.

Shehab Dawoud

It was before you changed the last line. Insomnia and One Hour Photo led for two seconds and then The Birdcage just took off.

Bryan Erickson

There’s some great movies on this list but you’re going to LOVE Birdcage.

Mike Lemon

Sorry people, Awakenings got my vote. Maybe next time.

Dan M

Luckily that’s changed, with The Birdcage and Awakenings now leading the way.

John Liebling

Even though GOT is immunizing Cassie against great heartache...Fischer King would wreck her. It also shows off Robin Williams incredible acting range. He was so much more than a great funny man.

Jon

Maybe sometime in the distant future you can do Death to Smoochy. An underrated dark comedy.

Stick Figure Studios

POPEYE is wonderful. It was not only my first Robin Williams film as a kid, but my first Robert Altman film.

First Name Ella

I like The Fisher King fine, but not as much as I like the other three.

Dan M

Totally agree with the first two. I haven’t seen Insomnia yet, but I might check it out regardless of its standing in this poll.

Shehab Dawoud

Why are people so resistant to variety and seeing actors showing their range?

James Forrest

You cannot not watch insomnia at some point. Early Nolan. Brilliant.

Stevan Carter

For the record, I've been asking for the fisher king for a long time. It's the perfect Cassie movie. It's hilarious, it's got heartbreaking moments in it, redemption, and a great ending. I wish I could vote more than once lol

Stick Figure Studios

FISHER KING is a brilliant movie and I think Cassie would ultimately love it.

Henry Graham

Would Popeye be Cassie's first Robert Altman film? That can't be anyone's introduction to one of the great American filmmakers, even if it does contain one of my favourite visual gags in all of cinema (when Bluto literally sees red).

Clay F

In the GWH reaction, she said: “Don’t you guys dare make me watch one where he is a bad guy in the Robin Williams poll.” But I voted for One Hour Photo and Insomnia. Sorry Cassie, but at least get to see his acting range.

Stick Figure Studios

I love DEAD AGAIN, but that would probably be better in like a mystery or suspense thriller poll as Robin Williams is only in it for about 5 minutes.

Richard Maurer

I keep seeing how bad Popeye is - I don’t agree.

Stick Figure Studios

POPEYE is a woefully underappreciated gem. Too wonderfully quirky and subversive to be appreciated by the masses though.

clutchkman

I like Awakenings and Garp. Sigh.

Clay F

Glad to see that Birdcage (1996) is running away with it. Excellent.

Larry Darrell

The Birdcage belongs in the other Robin Williams poll. Moscow on the Hudson (1984) The Best of Times (1986) Club Paradise (1986) The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) Cadillac Man (1990) Toys (1992) (there’s always next time. ;-)

David Livingston

Definitely "Patch Adams"!!! (and have tissues handy) That's all I'm going to say - no spoilers. But, it is a WONDERFUL, heartfelt movie and I know you'll LOVE it!!! Hopefully Carly can watch it with you (if she hasn't seen it).

Richard Maurer

Nothing I voted for is going to win. In fact it’s pretty obvious it’s going to be Birdcage. Not exactly a surprise either.

PianoDean

Regardless.....BICENTENNIAL MAN is a bona fide MUST WATCH at some point.

Ronnie

Clay f, I have a question for you. After game of thrones, will Cassie watch knight of the 7 kingdom or the other one? Do you know?

thebeefmaster

"The Birdcage" would likely be enjoyed the most and get the most views.

John Liebling

It is a great movie but it's so gut wrenching I wonder if she could handle it. My top two on her list are Awakenings and Bicentennial Man. It's also very possible that younger members of PIB never heard of those movies and that's why they overwhelmingly voting for Birdcage, which is good, but not a great movie. The tone of most movies on this list is so different from one another. Again, as I wrote earlier, it shows Robin's incredible range for laughter, tears, and though provoking emotions.

Stick Figure Studios

It's surprises me to hear all of the affection for PATCH ADAMS and BICENTENNIAL MAN. I always found both of those to be incredibly mawkish and lame (38% and 22% on Rotten tomatoes respectively),... but then I am a big fan of POPEYE, which most people here apparently think is really bad, so what do I know?

Kristin

It likely won't win, but its a perfect Cassie movie.

Justin S.

That's what I was thinking. What's neat is that Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson were married in real life at the time. That can definitely help with chemistry or intimacy scenes.

Cliff Endicott

Anything but "World's Greatest Dad". What a mess of a movie

PianoDean

It is indeed! Very underrated movie......SO GOOD!

clutchkman

The casting of Shelley Duvall as Olive Oil is the best aspect of Popeye, IMHO.

Kristin

Love Popeye. It's a good movie, but most people dont give it a chance. I think Cassie would like it.

John A

Man it's been way too long since I've last seen Awakenings

Justin S.

To be honest, I liked Insomnia better than some of his more popular films like Interstellar. The story was more engaging and interesting.

Stick Figure Studios

They are definitely two very good movies with two teriffic performances by Williams, but there are still better films on here imo.

Anthony DiBern

Distinct lack of under the radar picks like Jack, The Best Of Times, Final Cut, The Survivors, Deconstructing Harry, and Cadillac Man. Even Toys was way ahead of it's time - the world wasn't ready for Robin Williams, the Willy Wonka of the toy industry.

Stick Figure Studios

Same. It was one of the five films I submitted when I won trivia night. It even has Jeff Bridges in it.

Jordan Murphy

The Birdcage is one of my all time favorite movies. Based on a French play that was adapted several times to finally being on screen with Robin and Nathan! HILARIOUS!!

Larry Darrell

It’s got nothing else to compete with it. Everything else is either serious, dark comedy or just nowhere near as good.

Jordan Murphy

But also…. One Hour Photo is a really good/creepy movie if you want see Robin outside of his usual funny-guy roles

Stick Figure Studios

She could definitely handle it. She's seen far more harsh films on the channel that she ended up thinking were good.

T.L.A

I figured Patch Adams would be winning when I cast my vote. Glad the Birdcage is out front

Mike Lemon

I've been asking that for years.

Anthony DiBern

yeah, not sure why Dead Again is on this list, while something like The Best Of Times (with Kurt Russell, no less) gets left off.

Stick Figure Studios

@Henry: it was my intro to Altman and I think it's actually a good one because it still possesses his idiosyncratic aesthetic and storytelling style..

Daniel Lyons

OK, You are missing "The Best of Times" Robin Williams & Kurt Russell and it's a sports comedy movie, great fun film!

Larry Darrell

You’re not alone in your assessment. I got The Fisher King voted. ;-)

Stick Figure Studios

Or just hasn't been seen (or appreciated) by as many people.

Matt Dellarosa

Cassie, when I saw this poll I literally scrolled down until I saw Awakenings. Didnt wven glance at the other ones. Doesn't look like it's going to win but I hope you'll watch it anyway.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, when that was in the news I told a friend of mine and his response was, "Who did he think he was kidding?"

Patrick McDevitt

This Poll is missing Moscow on the Hudson! :-)

Dave

So my dilemma is... Williams/DeNiro, Williams/Pacino, or Williams/Hackman? I need a three-sided coin to flip ...

Stick Figure Studios

As I heard someone observed once, Williams went through a brief period in his career where he seemed to do several of these really awful, really saccharine films in a row (not just PATCH ADAMS and BICENTENNIAL MAN, but JACK and JALOB THE LIAR, which is not only terrible but actually offensive).

Clay F

I remember that movie when released.

Justin S.

Insomnia, One Hour Photo, Awakenings, The World According to Garp, and The Birdcage are all strong films in the genres they're in. I don't have an opinion on Popeye as it's been so many years since I saw it.

Clay F

I voted for my Top 6. TOP 6 -Insomnia (2002) -Birdcage (1996) -Fisher King (1991) -Awakenings (1990) -One Hour Photo (2002) -World's Greatest Dad (2009) BOTTOM 4 Death to Smoochy (2002) Patch Adams (1998) Bicentennial Man (1999) Popeye (1980)

Stick Figure Studios

I'm starting to hope that maybe she'll do a Robin Williams week.

Dave

That's your dilemma, not mine ;-)

Juan Cantu

No one ever talks about World According to Garp. I voted for it knowing it won’t win but I figure I give it a nod anyway

FranciscoGios

My all time favorite is Popeye 😂. But i can go see your reaction to the winner.

Justin S.

It has one of the funniest movie lines to quote. ‘‘I have a ** for you the size of Florida!’’ Don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it.

Clay F

I almost voted for World According to Garp -- I remember when that was released.

Stick Figure Studios

Eh, it would be a wasted vote anyway as there's no chance it's going to win. I think it's arguably the best film out here and it's one of my favorites ) I even submitted it as one of my five picks when I won trivia night), but it's not as popular or conventional as most of these other choices.

Dan

Bicentennial man is the perfect Cassie and Carly movie. Although, so is Patch Adams, and based on a true story.

Justin S.

If she can handle Ransom, Prisoners, and The Silence of The Lambs, she can handle The Fisher King.

TJ

Death to Smoochy and World's Greatest Dad are both great dark comedies but I'm not mad at Birdcage winning.

DSM The Editor

Some good choices, but Cassie would LOVE Birdcage so I'm going with that

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, there are a lot of great, memorable, and even profound lines in it.

Clay F

No, I don't think she has mentioned that. But I don't know. The next series is Andor.

Larry Darrell

Someone shoulda told her to leave The Birdcage off the poll and watch it with the Top 2 or 1 from the poll, and make a week out of it. Nothing else on the list was ever going to compete with it. Awakenings maybe, but not likely. She needs an unbiased confidant that can pre-screen these polls, and tell her which one is going to be a Ringer.

Stick Figure Studios

Well, it helps that it was a remake of a very good Norwegian film.

Gray

Enlighten me i've only seen half of Popeye of this lot lol

Henry Graham

I revisited it Popeye on an absolutely gorgeous print when the BFI did an Altman retrospective a few years back. I did find plenty to enjoy in it, and it's fun to see something so idiosyncratic being presented as a big family entertainment, but ultimately I found it too manic and exhausting. Still, definitely not the worst film Altman ever made! Not many directors had as many wild ups and downs as he did.

Stick Figure Studios

Switch WORLD'S GREATEST DAD with POPEYE and those would be my exact same Top 6 and bottom 4 as well.

Clay F

Oh yeah Stick -- I vaguely remember that was one of the 5 you submitted.

Ronnie

Thanks, i figured you'd have a idea.

Shad Kanyak

Even though I think it’s a bad movie, sometimes those are still worth reacting to and critiquing. Same with Howard the Duck. As bad as that movie is, I’d rather see reactions to movies like that than a majority of the mediocre, forgettable films that are far too frequently recommended. So I’m pro-Popeye. I’d still like to see Cassie’s reaction to it.

YodatheHobbit

What's amazing about Robin Williams is you think you've seen them all, but then 10 years go by and someone mentions one of his films you've never heard of and it's so different from what you're used to it's like it's from an alternate reality. I somehow found out about a film I knew nothing about, Cadillac Man on the internet when Netflix was new so I rented that, received the DVD in the mail, and that sure was a kind of role different from what I was used to. So many movies on this poll I enjoy, some I haven't seen and are like Christmas presents I get to save for as long as I want and open later. Even though I'm interested in introducing Cassie to some of Robin's dark side characters, my vote's gotta be Birdcage for making me laugh more and more the older I get. Popeye, along with The Terminator, are the only 2 films I know for sure my dad liked, having grown up knowing a limited amount of what my dad's interests really were other than making hotdog sandwiches on the weekends we had with him, smoking, drinking beer and eating Wheat Thins. He also loved "Funny Car" racing.

JD

Would love to see One Hour Photo and Insomnia, just for something different. So many reaction channels just end up treading the same path :(

Clay F

I was hoping we would get Birdcage with the Hackman poll, but don't think was included. The Will Smith movie won the Hackman poll.

Mike Hell

Yes, he's intense in that one, too. But I think his emotional range in OHP is better than Insomnia. Still a great performance.

Joshua s. Jackson

I'm a little shocked that "Jack" isn't in this pole.

Jay Nordick

Patch Adams and Birdcage are easily on my top 100 overall list.

Daniel Doble

The World According to Garp is based on a John Irving novel. My vote.

Stick Figure Studios

POPEYE is a wonderfully quirky and subversive little gem of a movie. It could have been a very conventional, goofy and personality-less live action adaptation of a cartoon like THE FLINTSTONES was, but with that idiosyncratic auteur Robert Altman at the helm, instead we got something with a little more edge, more texture and more atmosphere. I saw it as a kid and loved it. I I had to get older before I learned that most people didn't like it and I couldn't understand why, until I came to appreciate how marvelously weird and original it is.

Andrew Ward

oh it's got to be Birdcage. a classic!

Tyler Hale

Patch Adams? That’s a terrible one. Love Robin but it’s the worst he’s done

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, that, BIG FISH (which she chose), MIDNIGHT RUN (which just got a reaction), CITY LIGHTS and CITIZEN KANE. She said she wants to get to all of them at some point, so I'm hopeful.

JohnnyUtah

Never was a Robin Williams fan. I'll call it a retro week and watch some Cassie classic reaction

Xavier Casanova

Why isn't Survivors on here? Hilarious early Robin Williams with Walter Matthau and Jerry Reed.

Justin Frey

I will trade my votes in as may future polls, to as many people, as it takes to get Death To Smoochy to win

Devilfrog

Birdcage is lovely but still a remake of the original French movie „La Cage aux Folles“. Therefore Robin Williams is a little limited and could not unfold his full potential. Still a wonderful movie.

Milton Reduxed

Doesn't quite stick the landing but it's almost great

Above Average Dave

Birdcage actually pales in comparison to the French original, but it will win. Awakenings is very, very good as is Insomnia (another remake), but the Cassie-perfect pick is Patch Adams.

Walter

I would be willing to send everyone $5 if they vote for Popeye....

Dan M

From one Dan to another…I totally agree

Marcus Merrell

Fisher King is such a forgotten classic... One of my favorite performances from Robin, and one of the best performances from Jeff Bridges. He shoulda had the Oscar for that one.

Jake McNulty

"The Fisher King" is my top choice here, in my opinion the best performance of Williams' (and possibly also Bridges') career.

JarHead0351

Patch Adams is a great movie based on a true story and shame that you did not include "Jack" on this poll

Richard Maurer

Where’s my money? I already voted for it!

Silver Machine

Oh wow, you included Dead Again! Robin Williams only has a small role and no one has heard of it, but it’s a pretty cool film: a clever neo-Hitchcock romance/thriller. I hope you see it sometime.

Richard Maurer

Larry - I voted for 3 movies and not one of them was Birdcage.

Allison

The Fisher King is excellent but I think you will LOVE the Birdcage! It's got a great cast and it's heavy on shenanigans lol

Richard Maurer

Stick - probably more than you realize.

prime78

awakenings so good, bicentennial man underrated, patch adams solid, i even liked the world according to garp, hard to go wrong in this list

Patrick

Cadillac Man is my favorite Robin Williams movie, yet somehow never gets any reactor love...

Walter

Yes, World According To Garp is underrated.

Kristin

Birdcage is funny, but there are better movies on this list.

Shawn Kildal

OMG! Totally forgot about that one. Would have probably voted for it

Shawn Kildal

Best of Times co starring Kurt Russell!

Shawn Kildal

Cassie loves Michael Vartan from the TV series Alias and also Never Been Kissed. I voted for One Hour Photo partially because of that.

Chris Thom

Ooh, nice list. Touch choice. Friendly reminder...but Awakenings was slightly, somewhat, practically prom prom'd at one point a year and a half ago or so. Maybe it could get the GWH treatment...?

Mike Lemon

There's been a lot of "promises" over the years. She could probably get to mid-summer just watching those (and I wish she would).

Shreddy

Insomnia. Directed by Christopher Nolan, starring 3 Oscar winning actors (Al Pacino, Hillary Swank, Robin Williams). Yes it's a remake of a (good) Norwegian film, but still. The plot is not the same. And I prefer Nolan's version actually

Big Lazy Dragon

One of my favorite Robin Williams movies seems to be missing. It's a 1983 movie he did with Walter Matthau & Jerry Reed called 'The Survivors' where Robin & Walter play two beleaguered New Yorkers who lose their jobs (Robin as a dental supplies executive who gets fired by his boss's parrot, and Walter as a gas station owner whose station is accidentally blown up by Robin) & runs afoul of a hitman (played by Reed) during a robbery at a diner (Reed's character is similarly hard-pressed for cash because of lack of work). Reed goes after the two men when Robin calls him out in a TV editorial, and Reed is arrested after being captured by Williams & Matthau at Matthau's home when he goes there to kill Matthau because Matthau saw his face during the diner robbery & makes a statement claiming to know what happened to a 'certain labor union leader' (implied to be Jimmy Hoffa). Emboldened by Reed's capture, Robin spends all his money on guns & survivalist supplies & heads to a survivalist training camp to become one. Walter follows him up there to deliver a message from Reed, who is out on bail & has agreed to let things go if Robin agrees not to testify, but then Robin calls Reed & challenges him to a one-on-one fight, believing he has learned the skills necessary to take on a trained killer. The movie did rather poorly at the box office & didn't get a lot of positive reviews, but it is one of my personal favorites, and one of Robin's earliest roles after 'Popeye' (1980), 'The World According to Garp' (1982) & 'Mork & Mindy' (which ended its run on TV in (1982).

Choof

Was hoping for one hour photo but alas

Old As Dirt Bert

Robin Williams surprised many with the diversity of his roles, but nobody expected this role from Gene Hackman.

Chris Thom

Someone is pushing hard for that above.

Chris Thom

Might be a tad traumatic for them. But great performance.

Chris Thom

Dang I always forget about Toys. Not sure how, I saw that twenty times as a kid. Trippy movie.

Chris Thom

Just watched a reaction to that the other day. There's quite a few on YouTube surprisingly. Guess it wasn't quite as forgotten as I thought.

Chris Thom

Oh dang, that's a bold take.

colbyshannon

Where's 'Moscow on the Hudson' (1984)? Of the available options, that would probably be the best option imo. But, alas…… a curious m.i.a. (?) 'The Fisher King' should make for a great reaction; it's a delightful movie. …but it's also just as much—if not more—of a Jeff Bridges pic. …so not a pure showcase for Williams. This is even more pronounced in 'Dead Again' (1991)—where Robin Williams has a relatively small supporting role. Again… a terrific movie… but definitely a Kenneth Branagh ahowcase (where he's doing an impressive Hitchcockian riff). 'Awakenings' is a fine movie—a dual-showcase for Williams and Robert De Niro. But it's purely dramatic, and while it does demonstrate RW's dramatic range, I can't help but think that picking a film that doesn't showcase a broader range of his gifts is a slight missed opportunity at this point. But that's a tiny quibble…don't get me wrong. 'The Birdcage' is definitely hilarious, but I'm not sure how well it plays in today's climate? (…been a while since I've seen it.) …looks like it's going to be the runaway winner nevertheless.

Chris Thom

She might appreciate it. Some vague Little Miss Sunshine vibes, and she enjoyed that a lot.

Chris Davis

Well, this was my one shot to get "The Best of Times" on Cassie's radar, but alas...Maybe someday...

Chris Davis

Yes! I'm not alone! It is a movie just for Cassie!

Shawn Kildal

That scene when the 2 of them are eating at the table with their wives during MNF is flat out hilarious

Chris Davis

YES! More support for this fantastic movie!!!

Shawn Kildal

He was great in Frankie and Johnny as the gay roommate

KyloJames

One Hour will rock her world. Really solidifies RW’s range fully bc it’s so unexpected. Same with Insomnia

Alex Leach

Yes that’s the only one I voted for.

Chad Laurence

Death to Smoochy not getting the love, hurts.

Larry Darrell

Yeah, weird movie. I loved it when I was a kid. Haven’t seen it in a long long time. This is twice I’ve put it in a post in 2 days. I gotta track it down somewhere now.

Larry Darrell

Looking at this poll, I realize The Birdcage should have been watched much much earlier. It is considered one the best comedies, and is maybe the last great Robin Williams comedy that she hasn’t seen. If it had been watched earlier, then the rest of the films on the poll would equate to a fair fight. The Birdcage is just in a different class of film than the rest, in multiple ways. As soon as she put it on the poll, it was going to win. I’m glad for her to finally see it, but to us that know the difference between The Birdcage and the rest of the films, it looks like The Birdcage is overshadowing these other great films, when they really shouldn’t have been matched together. It’s kind of unfortunate for all the films. Everything not The Birdcage is undeservedly not getting a lot of attention, and The Birdcage itself is getting undeserved negative attention. Having Two polls, one for Light Robin Williams and one for Dark Robin Williams might have been a good idea.

Shawn Kildal

Don't forget about getting her to watch Harrison Ford in What Lies Beneath though

Clay F

Yeah, #10 of 12. 2nd to last place.

keoma songs

Had to go with Awakenings. Birdcage would be my next choice, but had to exclude it to help Awakenings.

Clay F

Wow -- not even close. Birdcage in the lead by more than 100 votes. Glad that Awakenings is shielding 2nd place from the syrupy Patch Adams, in case she decides to react to the top 2. Insomnia could overtake the 3rd place Patch Adams. Currently, only 10 votes behind. "Driven by Al Pacino and Robin Williams' performances, Insomnia is a smart and riveting psychological drama."

CJ Holden

I LOVE Death To Smoochy. Danny DeVito is one of my favourite directors and I wish he would go behind the camera more often. Worlds Greatest Dad is also a favourite of mine, but honestly, this is one of those movies that I would only recommend to Cassie because I know the reaction would be funny, not because I assume that she will like it. So while I hope that Smoochy wins another time (no way this is miraculously getting all of a sudden the necessary votes), I'm okay with WGD not winning at all.

CJ Holden

TOYS says hello. :D

JAKH

Meh. Cassie has already watched all his good ones.

keoma songs

Another movie missing is The Final Cut (2004). A sci-fi movie co-starring Jim Caviezel. It's .... perhaps uneven, and maybe a little, I don't know, obvious, like an expanded episode of The Outer Limits, but I do enjoy it and there is the dependable star performance from Robin Williams. Worth checking out before some of these movies where he's in a cameo like Dead Again, which I have always liked but he's not the star attraction.

Jacob King

He’s so good in The Birdcage. Um, World’s Greatest Dad might be a bit much for the channel. It’s not going to win a poll but it would be good to get a second opinion.

Clay F

Have you watched Insomnia? "Driven by Al Pacino and Robin Williams' performances, Insomnia is a smart and riveting psychological drama."

Clay F

I voted Awakenings but don't see Awakenings closing the 100+ vote gap.

Clay F

I wouldn't mind one hour photo.

Clay F

Yep, Insomnia is arguably the best movie in the poll. I can't believe that Insomina is losing to 3rd place Patch Adams (by 6 votes).

Clay F

Insomina is currently losing to 3rd place Patch Adams by only 6 votes. I wouldn't mind seeing Insomnia surpass Patch Adams to secure 3rd place. "Driven by Al Pacino and Robin Williams' performances, Insomnia is a smart and riveting psychological drama."

keoma songs

Maybe we get lucky and she does top 2. But even if she doesn't, I like The Birdcage a lot. The only flaw I think it has that is quite distracting is having 30+ year old actors playing, what, college freshmen?

JAKH

Saw it in the theater. It was interesting to watch once, but not enough to want to see it again

Patrick Switzer

Good job Cassie and have a good night and day too

Jens Kristensen

Some great movies on this poll. If "Awakenings" wins I think Cassie will love that one... still, I am rooting for "One Hour Photo" for that brilliant non-usual Robin Williams-performance, - it's a great thriller, - and I have a soft spot for "Death To Smoochy" - such a crude and very funny movie ...

Sonny

The Best of Times! Cassie loves a great underdog sports movie, and it's got a love story and stars Kurt Russell

Sonny

I'm with you on this one. Great movie

Sonny

And Cassie loves underdog sports movies

fastecp1

There are a lot of great pics there. I'm hoping for some of the dark ones.

Clarence Newman

Never seen Birdcage, Awakenings is my vote, Fisher King is also good (very unique film), Patch Adams may not be the best, but I kind of think it's the one Cassie would enjoy the most.

LukeG84

Birdcage is a must win. Not only is it the best movie on this poll, Cassie will love it to pieces. Don't deny her this comedy gold people!

LukeG84

I can't believe how many people have voted for One Hour Photo. Cassie would hate that movie. HATE!

Jake McNulty

You know I believe Mercedes Ruehl got the "Best Supporting Actress" award for her performance.

Carol_White

Robin Williams was an overrated actor and none of these films appeal to me.

Richard Maurer

Truth be told, while I like some of the movies in this poll, I don’t think a Robin Williams poll was really necessary.

Richard Maurer

Maybe., but that isn’t a reason not to vote for it. It doesn’t really matter though. Birdcage is going win anyway.

LukeG84

There are some movies that would just be cruel to make Cassie watch.

Richard Maurer

You mean like Passion of the Christ? Schindler’s list? Yeah, those were pretty tough for her.

LukeG84

No. Those movies having meaning. I’m talking about movies that would break Cassie’s spirit for no good reason, like seeing Robin Williams as a bad guy. There’s no benefit to watching that movie.

Matt Dellarosa

I know it will never win but Worlds Greatest Dad is a massively underrated movie.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Gotta go with Patch Adams and The Birdcage.

Shehab Dawoud

I don’t think H Ford changed whatsoever in her eyes after that movie.

Shehab Dawoud

I’m the perfect man for that job and I’d do it free of charge!

Sarah Jane

If Fisher King doesn't come out on top, then you still need to watch it -- a truly great movie.

Dolores Bellini

He had a little tiny part, uncredited, in Dead Again, but I voted for it anyway, because it's a really good movie. Also, What Dreams May Come is a heartrending movie, but not on the poll.

Obie Brown

Glad to see awakenings on there, such a good performance in that film

Shreddy

Insomnia has only 2 reactions in YouTube I think (lol). I mean, considering Nolan etc. I find it odd. But if PiB or some other big channel reacts to it, soon there will be 10 reactions to it

Shreddy

Robin Williams was an actor, why can't he be seen as a bad guy, if the movie is good? Almost all actors have done bad guy roles... besides, darker side to Robin Williams is probably not so far fetched, considering how he went out.

LukeG84

The movie isn’t good though. Besides, Cassie herself has said she doesn’t want to see Robin Williams as a bad guy.

Shreddy

I've seen Insomnia 6 or 7 times. Great movie, where characters aren't black and white one dimensional people. None of them are actually

Clarence Newman

A joint Paul Newman/Steve McQueen poll would be good.

Dean Holt

Glad someone else likes it. Can’t believe how young Tim Robbins was as well 😂

Richard Maurer

Luke - I see, if it’s a movie that you decide is worthwhile it’s okay to stress out Cassie. But if it’s a movie you don’t like……not okay. You do realize these are just your opinion of these movies, not actual facts, right?

Joe J

She's already watched his best movies. And, she just watched GWH and DPS. So what, we need more now?

Joe J

She's already seen What Dreams May Come, do a search.

LukeG84

Firstly, I didn’t vote for those movies, but I do think Cassie is better off having seen them. Secondly, go back a read my first comment, which you chose to reply to. It starts with “I” for a reason. 🤦🏻‍♂️

BriGuy

I was so afraid that "Awakenings" wouldn't do well in this poll, so I'm delighted to see that it's currently running second ! (DeNiro is also wonderful in it.) No surprise that "The Birdcage" is leading the pack -- it's laugh-out-loud hilarious all the way through.

Buran Doyon

It's easy to forget just how many great movies Robin Williams made even though he is arguably more famous as a comedian than a movie star. I also voted for Birdcage, because it's just so funny but I think the best Cassie "reaction" would be The World According to Garp!

Richard Maurer

“I” don’t believe in the idea that subject matter can suddenly make “bad “ things acceptable. It’s either all acceptable or it isn’t. For me it’s all acceptable, because it’s all art. Also, as I’ve stated many times before my main criteria for voting for a movie is how I feel about it, any other possible reason for voting for a movie is a very distant second. Finally I never presume to know what Cassie (or anyone else) will feel about a movie. I only give my personal feelings about a movie, I never tell anyone how they or another person will feel about it.

Joe J

She's already seen his best films IMO, and just watched GWH & DPS.

Jeffrey Smith

Yes!!! This is a lesser known GEM. Cassie and Carly would love this one and a big bonus like you said is Kurt Russell.

CJ Holden

World's Greatest Dad is indeed great, but I think it's one of those dark comedies that are too dark for Cassie to make her enjoy it. Even though it's maybe the most Cassie-compatible of Bobcat Goldthwait's directorial output, but that's not saying much. That dude had for a while an incredible run with smart comedies about extremely horrifying topics.

LukeG84

Like I said, I think there are some movies that would be cruel, for cruelness’s sake, to make Cassie watch, like The Mist for example. I would never vote for a movie like that, and I judge those that would. That’s where we differ. I always take Cassie’s feelings into consideration with my votes. To me, the reactions are significantly better when Cassie enjoys what she’s watching. And finally, my assessment of what Cassie will or will not like has been pretty spot on since becoming a member. As such I will continue to share my predictions, and disappointments with voting, based on that experience.

Marvin Just Marvin

I voted for the under-rated The World According to Garp .

Hubbs30

death to smoochie is one of the most underrated movies, it really is good. i gope you do give it a chance in the future

Joe J

I always vote for what I want to see a reaction to. I think we all know what types of movies Cassie will like and dislike. The thing is it's irrelevant since she has a reaction channel and must watch a wide variety of genres.

LukeG84

So do I Joe. It just so happens that what I want to watch I think Cassie would enjoy too. Scream is the only exception. But even then I think she’ll grown to appreciate the movies if she sticks with it. If there’s nothing on the pole I want to watch, I don’t vote.

Javier Hernandez

I don't think Cassy is ready to see Williams in Insomnia or One Hour Photo. Maybe next October...?

Richard Maurer

Not horror movies, therefore not good Halloween movies.

Richard Maurer

Besides - nothing is catching Birdcage at this point, so it doesn’t matter.

Richard Maurer

“If there’s nothing on the poll I want to watch, I don’t vote” - finally something we agree on - I didn’t vote in the Love poll.

Javier Hernandez

Yeah, but she's done thrillers (even comedy) before in Oct which is why I think they are a better fit there.

Shreddy

What's this common notion here of "we must protect Cassie from seeing Robin Wiliams ACT ROLES of unpleasant people"? Williams was an ACTOR, and his performance in both is amazing. He had RANGE, which actors (who have it) are proud of, and respected by their peers. Like Meryl Streep. People shouldn't honor the lifework of Robin Williams, because... why exactly? Nearly all big stars have played a bad guy at some point. Tom Cruise did it in "Collateral". Jack Nicholson did it many times (but he also played heroes, like in "The Pledge"). Jake Gyllenhaal did it in "Nightcrawler" and got praise. Heath Ledger (also dead too soon) did it as the Joker, and people praise and rewatch The Dark Knight, to honor his memory. She saw goddamn "The Fly" and "Nosferatu" I think she can handle it, she's not a baby. Robin Williams is dead and he would have wanted people to see, that he had range. They are just MOVIES, and "One Hour Photo" and "Insomnia" are both good movies (Insomnia is better, though). They aren't even close to horror, just psychologial thrillers, with almost no on-screen violence. Robin Williams acted the s*** out of them, and showed the world that he has range.

Richard Maurer

She has done thrillers, much to horror fans chagrin. This last October was the best Halloween in PiB history - because the overwhelming majority of movies watched were actual horror movies. Hopefully this will continue, and we won’t backslide into vaguely horror adjacent movies again.

Joe J

But can she handle "Mr. Brooks"? Carly can join in. 😆

Shreddy

People make her watch "The Fly", "The Exorcist" and "Nosferatu" and then try to somehow "protect" her from 2 mild psychological thrillers, that have almost no on-screen violence? What happened to respecting the range an actor has? Is it also wrong to make her watch "The Dark Knight" because Heath Ledger played a bad guy, and died later tragically? Actors are usually respected for the RANGE they have you know....Like Meryl Streep. Robin Williams was most likely proud that he had range. And would have wanted the world to see. He took roles that challenged him. What kind of Robin Williams fan pretends that it didn't happen? And why?

Javier Hernandez

She mentioned in the Good Will Hunting reaction that she wanted to keep Williams in the good guy category for a little while even though she is aware that he's played the villain a few times. I prefer his intense performance in One Hour over the slow-burn character from Insomnia.

Richard Maurer

I don’t recall anyone making her watch the Exorcist since she’s never watched it. Also she chose to watch Nosferatu, and put The Fly on a poll

Clarence Newman

I'm hoping for Jaws 3 in October. Carly can definitely watch that.

LukeG84

I didn’t vote for those movies Shreddy!! Cassie herself said she doesn’t want to see Robin Williams as a bad guy. She has said no such thing about Heather Ledger. Don’t fret. I have no doubt Cassie will watch the Chris Nolan Batman trilogy in due course.

LukeG84

Definitely. Plus Hank Azaria in his funniest role. I really hope it wins. 🙏🏻

Michael Lewis

"Fisher King" is both Jeff Bridges' and Robin Williams' finest hour.

Richard Maurer

Another day, another bad movie pick from Clarence.

Richard Maurer

I misremembered how The Fly got watched - Cassie chose to watch that one too - after it had lost a poll by one vote over a year before.

Chris Thom

Oh I saw that! Almost forgot about that one.

Chris Thom

I think of him as more of a movie star than a standup. But that's probably just my age.

Clay F

“Don’t you guys dare make me watch one where he [Robin Williams] is a bad guy in the Robin Williams poll.” --Cassie during the GWH reaction. Both Cassie and Carly don't want to watch a movie in which Robin Williams is a bad guy. The simply don't want to do it -- adamant against it. It's not they couldn't appreciate his acting range -- it's more about not wanting to distort their perception of Robin Williams as a character. Cassie is same about Costner in A Perfect World which she avoiding b/c she doesn't want to see Costner as a character who kidnaps a kid. Cruise in Collateral-while intellectually she appreciated his acting, she didn't like it emotionally at all b/c Cruise is hitman and I think would have preferred not to have seen Collateral. Characters are too real to her.

Clarence Newman

Avoiding A Perfect World for that reason is misguided. She'd enjoy the film. As for Richard dissing Jaws 3, he clearly has no appreciation for the cutting edge 3D effects of the time. It was as if someone was stood in my room waving a cardboard cutout of that shark in my very face.

Richard Maurer

I don’t even like Jaws 1 that much anymore. It aged badly. How’s that for a hot take?

Richard Maurer

Clay - I used to think actors were their characters, then I reached my tweens…….

Clarence Newman

And some actors definitely ARE their characters. Henry Winkler is the Fonz, Christopher Reeve is Superman and Sandy Lyle from Along Came Polly IS 'That Kid from Crocodile Tears'.

Richard Maurer

Henry Winkler is definitely not Fonzie, I like Henry but he’s not Fonzie. Some actors are their characters because they play themselves in every movie (John Wayne).

Richard Maurer

Clarence - I always cheered for the shark.

Clarence Newman

I would actually put Henry Winkler in the same category as Leonard Nimoy. I'm not suggesting either played the same character in every movie, but if you ask someone if they know who Leonard Nimoy is, the vast majority would say "Sure, he was Spock in Star Trek." You ask someone who Henry Winkler is, the same vast majority would put two thumbs up and say "Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!" With the exception of misguided diversions like The Conqueror, you're right about John Wayne - his legacy is that of 'John Wayne, Cowboy". The difference when it comes to Winkler and Nimoy is that their legacies are welded to just one character.

Just Plain Bob

This whole “actors are the characters they portray” nonsense grew old the minute is was espoused. That’s for children. William Shatner can’t pilot a starship. John Wayne hated horses. Nick Castle (The Shape in Halloween) never murdered anyone. OJ Simpson did, and he was a nice guy in all his movies and commercials. And two of Robin Williams’s greatest roles were in Insomnia and One Hour Photo. It’s absurd to conflate an actor with the character they play. Most people get over it around the same time they attend kindergarten.

Clay F

Birdcage (1996) - sheer dominance in the poll.

Richard Maurer

There usually seems to be one - at the very least.

Bryan Fritchie

Right now it's tied for third, but you do absolutely love Patch Adams

Joseph Fabian

The Fisher King not even getting runner-up kills me

Shreddy

Well, Costner in "A Perfect World" is still a heroic character with a strong moral backbone. Even when he plays a criminal, I wouldn't exactly describe the movie as "Kevin Costner kidnaps a kid" it's kinda missing the point. Underrated movie, that nobody has reacted to. And knowing Cassie, she'd love it. Isn't Cassie over 30, come on. Separating art from the artist and all that. The actor is not their character. Some of the horror films she watches are pretty hardcore stuff, "Insomnia" and "One Hour Photo" are nothing compared to that. They are tame even compared to something like "Silence of the Lambs" or even "Prisoners". Robin Williams plays a partially sympathetic character in "One Hour Photo". He's not some evil serial killer, his arc is interesting because he is in a way just a sad, well-meaning and lonely man motivated by good intentions, the way he goes about it is just horribly wrong. He's more clearly a bad dude in Insomnia, but still. It's just a role, and damn well acted by all 3 main actors. It's a shame to miss some of Robin William's best work (and a Christopher Nolan movie!) for this kind of dumb reason.

Funny is subjective

I watched that a LONG time ago, defintely time for a rewatch.
