Be prepared, it’s ALL downhill from here. George Lucas had no part in making anything in Star Wars after Disney purchased the IP. In fact they cast him aside when he offered guidance. The level of disrespect the Sequel Trilogy shows towards everything Lucas created is unprecedented. Not only are they terrible movies that totally undo every accomplishment the Original Trilogy made. But the creators of those films then went on social media to bully all of the fans who don’t like their movies, calling them “racist/sexists” for refusing to accept garbage. Much of the bullying coming directly from Disney Executives. THAT is why everyone hates these movies.

>>75885557

To be fair, Lucas wasn't much better. I offer the prequels as evidence (and the Red Letter reviews show it beautifully) and note that Empire, considered by most older fans to be the best, was not Lucas (mostly). I also contend that Force Awakens was pretty good until Last Jedi ruined it.

Hannah Mather
>>75885557

whether you are right or not, I feel like the point of these first time reactions is to see how she feels about things on her own, and your piling on these negative opinions onto her before she has even gotten a chance to see and form her own opinion first - is pretty uncool.

David Crabtree
>>75885557

Exactly! This is a REACTION channel, not a "Let's just see her watch only the things we think she'll like" channel!

Obie Brown
>>75885557

How about we let Cassie make up her own mind hmm? And the Disney tv stuff has been outsnading.

Dustin Nelson

I though this was the only mildly palatable disney star wars movie. The rest are satanic abominations if not open violence against the series, especially Force Awakens. It's truly incredible how insultingly bad and defiling of the original 3 movies the sequels are

Dustin Nelson
>>75885557

Force Awakens was horrible and rogue one was somehow worse. Strongly caution about what you're in for

DaftBasterd

I agree with this! If you don't like something, why try to get others to bandwagon hate especially without even seeing it themselves?! Also, people have to remember this was originally made for kids/teens, much like they were back in the late 70s.

Chris Lüders

I only can agree, Chris! 👍 Cassie should always respond to what she wants to see, not what a bunch of people are trying to tell her, so this should stop. Btw whining about these movies is just the latest weak attempt to spoil her enjoyment of the film and that is very bad style. But the discussion about the Star Wars sequels is just as nonsensical as it is about 'The Hobbit'.

Chris Lüders
>>75885557

@Brandon Suan: okay, that's your opinion and the gossip you've heard or read. But this isn't your channel here, so what is your suggestion? Not to watch these movies. Well, the problem with this is that it is a 'reaction' channel and not a 'do not react to' channel. ^^

Chris Lüders
>>75899500

... and your comment is open verbal violence for a meaningful and appropriate use of language.

Chris Lüders

@Happy: That's too awful for Cassie, but all the sequel haters could watch it to get an impression what a really bad movie looks like. 😂😂😂

Wu Sha Ling

@daftbasterd I agree with your point. I have grown up as a fan in the 80's. But the 90's and 2000's was a rude awakening: these are toy commercials. Not a judgment, just a statement of fact. Lucas saw where the money was and gambled, and he won big. After SW, everyone got in on the action. Make stories that make kids wanna buy toys. He-man, transformers, teenage mutant ninja turtles etc. The 80's were dominated by these and still bank on nostalgia these days. It got so bad congress needed to make policies to limit the wanton marketing to kids, who didn't know any better. The children's tv act of 1990. I know for fans, it's their identity and a community. a thing that gives them meaning, a good thing. But i don't think many are ready to reconcile with the truth as i did, that these are stories about toys. Some told well, and some aren't.

Patrick Flanagan
>>75885557

No, the "fans" actually WERE horrible racists and sexists too many times when complaining about these movies. A movie series about space wizards is not sufficient justification for berserk online fans to threaten actresses with death because they didn't like how their CHARACTER behaved. Social media really brings out the absolute worst in lots of people. Don't want to get into any spoilers in case our host reads these comments but THE LAST JEDI attempted to fix the many problems created by THE FORCE AWAKENS but was itself mostly undone by the guy who made AWAKENS in the first place, making the whole trilogy feels pointless in the end.

Mike Lemon
>>75899500

Whoa there, Force Awakens was good, barring the one scene, until Last Jedi ruined everything.

Dan
>>75899500

TFA was certainly a passable movie with good execution, but its massive narrative reset is a huge sin on the franchise. It wasn't earned at all, which cheapened the entire cast of OT characters, and the movie would have stuck any future director with a bunch of places to go that they may have not wanted to go. It just happens that they got Rian Johnson, who hated each and every one. And so began the war of dueling movies between directors.

Dan

@Happy Hanukkah You're recommending Battlefield Earth as a "so bad it's good" submission, right? Because there are others that are more mainstays on those lists, like "The Room" and "Birdemic".

Dan

@Chris Reise Counterpoint: Were you here championing Alien 3 when Cassie finished Aliens? Did you ask her to celebrate Terminator 3 or Predators (Predator 3)? Or Die Hard 2? Cassie should certainly feel free to watch whatever she wants, but if you, as an educated viewer, know what will help her channel and what won't... shouldn't you offer her your best advice? And help her avoid ones that will reduce her viewer count? Sure, we could all be selfish and skip her unpopular movies... or we could act altruistically and offer opinions that will benefit her, objectively (going by the numbers). Maybe you like the sequel trilogy. That's fine, we're allowed to disagree. But that's no more to the point than you liking Prometheus or Die Hard 2. These aren't everyone's favorites, and we're allowed to collectively express our opinions on whether she should watch these movies if she wants to see her channel continue to grow. If you would advise her against the Alien sequels, then you shouldn't begrudge us for saying the same about Star Wars. (For the record: Alien 3 is worth watching, if only once. But people will probably skip her reaction to it if she posts it to YouTube, so... )

So. No, I obviously do not really recommend Cassie watch Battlefield Earth. I only did so to draw out negative comments, making the obvious (counter)point. It is perfectly proper to debate movies Cassie has, will or might watch. I don't think it is necessary or helpful to say: "Oh, let Cassie choose what she wants, we wouldn't want to prejudice her," or worse, to wait until she's watched it before we explain to her why she was wrong to enjoy it [:eyeroll:]. The fact that Battlefield Earth has many fewer defenders than The Last Jedi does not change this principle. That said, I'll agree we could use a little more moderation here. I think the last Star Wars trilogy was objectively deeply flawed film-making, but let's keep in mind we're not in a reddit debate. If you're being vituperative enough that you're shedding more heat than light, please reconsider; this isn't the place for holy wars. I think that Maverick is very far from being the best Western, but the constant drumbeat of repetitive negative posts was tiresome. Relax, old chum. The fact that you (yes, you!) didn't write an anti-Maverick post does not make you complicit. It is quite sufficient to like the first two or three such comments. As always, Via Media. (Obviously represented by me, the sane and sensible middle, as opposed to all of you unreasonable extremists! :-) )

@Chris: "all the sequel haters could watch it to get an impression what a really bad movie looks like" A man goes to his Rabbi and complains about his house. “Dear Rabbi”, he says, “my house is way too small. It’s 500 square feet and it hosts my seven children, mother in law, and a nail salon”. The Rabbi listens attentively and says: “I have a solution to your problem. First thing tomorrow morning go to the market and buy a goat. Be sure to keep it inside the house, not outside in the yard. In less than a week things should improve dramatically for you. If they don’t, come back and we will see what else can be done”. The man freaks out inside, but tries to keep his cool. Can’t dispute the Rabbi…. He goes out the next day and gets a goat. A week from hell goes by, and after the goat has eaten all the furniture, books, and drapes, the man goes back to the Rabbi all anxious and sleep-deprived. When he walks in, he falls on his knees and begs “Dear Rabbi, you are a man of wisdom, but I’m not sure that the goat is a great idea, it’s eating everything the house and literally smells like…”. “No worries!” the Rabbi interrupts him, “I was just about to tell you to take the goat out…. come back again in a week, and tell me if things got better “. The man thanks the Rabbi, and goes home relieved and smiling. When he gets home, he gives his wife a big wet kiss and sends the goat out. The following week when he comes back to the Rabbi he’s as happy as a clam: “I don’t know what magic you worked on the house, but it feels at least twice as big!” [Copied this version from https://rideofyourlife.com/2010/11/a-story-of-a-rabbi-a-goat-dogs-and-inner-peace/ ]

Whenever you reply to a comment make sure that you keep in mind that the video is being produced by a human. Therefore, you always need to be polite while commenting. Even if you are giving a negative comment or positive, you must use words which don’t seem to be rude. Your negative comment might hurt the content creator’s feelings, or they might get de-motivated.

As someone who wasn't a fan of this or any of the new star wars films, let Cassie make up her mind on whether or not she likes them. It's not up to us to make that decision for her

Chris Reise
>>75934993

Exactly. This isn't a forum about the film, it's a chat about Cassie's reactions. :)

Chris Reise

@Dan Blah blah blah. I don't know why you're getting upset with ME, all I said was Cassie should just watch what she's gonna watch. I never hated on any of the movies. I'm hoping Cassie watches Alien 3 & 4 for that matter as well as the prequels. I am also hoping for her to watch all of the Terminator films...in fact when she pointed out that she wasn't sure how many they were, I wrote up a list for her. As for Star Wars goes. I like all 12 films...yeah I said 12 (I also include the Holiday Special LOL) obviously some are better than others.

Happy Hanukkah

[Son-of-a-*! This is the second time this comment seems to have disappeared. Let's try again and hope the third time's the charm. (In the unlikely event this was intentionally done by Cassie or a proxy, message me and I'll desist.)] So. James Kelly
>>75885557

Gotta disagree, the last Jedi didn't exist to fix the mistakes of episode 7, it existed to subvert and reinvent what a Star wars movie is and should be. Idk who was being racist and sexist, like some of the fans sure, but like Cassie said in her Rocky 2 video everyone gets hate mail you just have to get over it. Problem is basically all fan reaction to TLJ was labeled as toxic, racist and sexist. *Mild spoilers* Fans: displeased that admiral haldo can use a ship as a missile essentially destroying the significance of nearly every space battle in the series. Rian Johnson, Disney and the internet: why do you just hate women???

Choof
>>75885557

Id be interested to see an example of Rian Johnson or Disney, in reference to the specific criticism about the Holdo thing, dismissing it as the critic hating women. Not saying it doesn't exist but I doubt it.

Andy Hafler
>>75929863

That's between you and Ron Howard. Why involve this group with your problem?

Carol_White
>>75929863

Because there are some police officers on this site who think it's "rude" and "demotivational" to shit on their favorite movies. I just want to make sure I understand the site rules you're unilaterally making up.

Andy Hafler
>>75929863

I don't make any site rules. I just wanted to remind people that showing a little kindness is OK. Instead of the hate and mean-spirited comments that are becoming too common on here.

Carol_White
>>75929863

Fine. I just want to remind folks that when people express an opinion about a movie which is contrary to your own that it's not a personal attack. And on a site such as this, like it or not, opinions about films will be shared. Saying "Solo sucks" is not the same as "you suck" or "Cassie sucks."

Dan

@Chris Reise "Upset"? Who's upset? First of all, I never attacked you nor expressed any anger towards you. Second, I was actually incredibly cordial and took every opportunity to extend an olive branch with my verbiage, using careful and placating phrases like, “Maybe you like [such and such]. That's fine, we're allowed to disagree”. I certainly didn’t have to do that… but I did, because I’m an adult and I know how to navigate conversations with other adults to achieve amicable results. Third, I only responded because you made a childish and naïve comment that deserved a mature and cogent response. I provided that, for the benefit of you and anyone else who misunderstands the purpose of comments that express unfavorable views of a particular group of movies. Fourth, your response to me was (impressively) even more childish than your original comment. “Blah blah blah” is the sort of reaction I would expect from a 7-year-old girl, not someone masquerading as an adult male. I suspect you would have been ashamed of yourself, if only you had developed that capacity yet (you’re still working your way through Piaget’s second stage, apparently) Fifth, you defensively proclaim, “I never hated on any of the movies”, as if I ever claimed such a thing. I didn’t. Your reading skills clearly need improvement. You misunderstood my entire point. The fact that you leave such rude, immature, and poorly-conceived comments in public spaces… and then immediately feel attacked as soon as someone responds to you… proves that (1) your level of self-awareness is subterranean, and (2) your skin is so thin that, applied to a tardigrade, would turn it into a spontaneous hemophiliac. Grow up, calm down, and learn to read. > “I like all 12 films...yeah I said 12 (I also include the Holiday Special LOL)” There is so much to unpack here that I would need to pull a second mortgage to finance the contract with United Van Lines. Suffice to say, you need more help than I can provide through this limited medium.

Dan

@Hanukkah Fair points and much agreed. I don't find it productive or becoming of one's behavior to wage those holy wars, either, but I will engage on the facts when people are misguided by faulty premises and preconceived narratives. I don't appreciate liars and confabulators who aim to mislead others to join their cause. Matters of taste, though... those are much less fruitful battles. "Vituperative" is a great word! Your vocabulary and word selection is positively delectable! :)

G

Star Wars started with A New Hope and ended with Return of the Jedi. I have come to terms with it. Phantom Menace to Rise of Skywalker are ok and entertaining. Life is short. Let's enjoy it with popcorn and movies.

>>75885557

You doubt it cause you refuse to do basic research yourself 🙄. It’s all over the internet

I am not the biggest fan the Han Solo movie as there were some "why?" moments and "really?" moments (for me) but I'm glad you had fun with it Cassie (love the mug btw!) I liked this better than the new trilogy and the prequels. But semantics aside, I am so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you once again for another wonderful reaction. Please check out the Clone Wars, Bad Batch, Rebels, and the Mando series!

Raj K. Dixit

Ignore the Disney haters, Cassie. I look forward to seeing you react to Episodes VII, VIII & IX. They are way better than the Prequels, in my opinion. They have flaws (as do all movies), and I can understand some of the complaints from diehard fans. But a HUGE percentage of the hate for the Sequels stems from bigotry & misogyny - and I know that because I have spent far too much time reading the comments of many YouTube videos that criticize the Sequels. Watch them and make up your own mind. Whether you love the Sequels, hate them, or are just "meh" about them, at least we know that you are giving your personal opinion straight from your own kind heart - and that puts you light years beyond so many "fans."

Mike Lemon
>>76105294

Wow, disparage a "HUGE percentage" of people based on YouTube comments. That's...bold.

Raj K. Dixit
>>76105294

Literally thousands of those comments contained hate speech that would be banned in countries other than the USA. I don't want to ban speech; I like knowing who the haters are so I can avoid them.

Mike Lemon
>>76105294

"Thousands". If we ignore it is youtube, where people post stupid stuff to be 'edgy', and if we ignore any context, "thousands" is, what, 0.1% or less of the people that saw the new movies? If only 10% didn't like the movies, the "hate speech" is less than 1% of them- hardly a "HUGE percentage".

James Kelly

Yeah definitely not racist and not misogynistic and not a huge fan of the sequel trilogy. What do you mean by racist and misogynistic? Most of the people I listen to ( I presume the people you consider toxic) didn't like Rose Tica. Not because she was Asian and a woman but because the character was very poorly written and the actress didn't do very well either. To be fair Rian Johnson didn't do her any favors.

Robert Miller

Do not waste your time on the final three Star Wars fiascos. They went off the rails with the story line, the exception is The Mandalorian, that is a very well written, well shot series. Baby Yoda is a great concept, I'll leave it at that, but you will see there is more to him.

whitelies

Wow sad to see so much petty hatred towards the sequel trilogy. Take this from someone who grew up with the OG trilogy - the sequels are GREAT movies. Looking forward to you watching them!

Tharon Schultz

I really wish you were a reader, the stuff we got in the books is soooo much better than this disney crap. I am sure you would like, possibly love, the truce at Bacura and the courtship of Princess Lea. The Thrawn Trilogy is iconic, the Young Jedi Knight series. I Jedi is about a guy looking for his kidnapped wife, the X-Wing series is FANTASTIC. Kyle Katarn is the Chuck Norris of Star Wars and all of it is better than what disney did to star wars.
