UPDATE: POLL CLOSED! I will be watching October Sky, been wanting to watch this for a long time, special nod to lightscameraJake for pushing this one too! Can't wait!

k this is special because my mom is actually here visiting! These are some of her favorite movies that I haven't seen in honor's of Mother's Day. 

My mom is kind of like me and not a movie buff by any means, she loves love stories, but also suspense and has a hard time with sadness. 

My mom is the most adventurous, which did not rub off on me who is scared of everything. She spent years travelling, backpacking all over Southeast Asia for years, Australia, New Zealand, Israel etc. She has been a neonatal intensive care nurse for over 30 years taking care of the sweet tiny babies and even though she is barely 5 feet tall, she has SO much love to give, always serving her family and community. 

Some movies she also loves but I have already seen are You've Got Mail, The Sound of Music, The Fugitive, The Terminal, August Rush, Les Mis. Spotlight, The Post, A Few Good Men.

Some honorable mentions that didn't make the poll-Simon Birch, Kramer vs. Kramer, The Firm, Bridges of Madison County, Ghost and Double Jeopardy!

Usually in a poll I have one or two I think I know is going to win, but this poll I  have no idea!

Thinking about it... the great thing about October Sky winning this poll, is that the outcome of the story all came down to the Mother (and the teacher).

I’ll give a nod to “Return to Me”. A very highly underrated romantic comedy directed by the great Bonnie Hunt (who also plays a supporting role).

You should check out a great film called Children of Men. It's a great film. One of my favorite movies.

@Happy Hanukah - Yeah, that Western poll was pretty epic and probably the most contentious, but the Detective Investigative poll was also very heated given the choices as well. btw - Loved your "Yes Minister" reference in an earlier comment. Loved that show.

My vote was for Return to Me...so underrated and the cast is absolutely perfect. I knew it wasn't going to win but I am glad it's on there and I do hope you will react to it in the future. I guarantee you will absolutely love it.

Something your mother might like and I think is right up your alley is Somewhere in Time. Very romantic with interesting twists but some tragedy if you can handle it.

Something just occurred to me. Does anyone else find an irony in the fact that among Cassie's mom's favorite movies are one that condemns extramarital affairs (FATAL ATTRACTION) and one that celebrates an extramarital affair (DR ZHIVAGO)?
