I don't want to give it all away but I loved this one! I've missed Kevin Costner. It's weird, sometimes when I'm telling ppl I love him, they are like "but isn't he not a good actor?" is that a THING? Am i blinded by his squinty eyes?! It was just a great adventure, amazing villain, and LOVE!!

[Full Reaction] Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)

Comments

Ryan Towell

I saw this in the theaters when it came out and I loved it then, and I still love it today, more to Alan Rickman and Michael Wincott in this. Alan was hilarious. I read that he improved a lot of his stuff in this.

Miles E Coburn

Most of the actors, at least on the main page on IMDB, are British. Granted, in the supporting characters, but the nationality of actors isn't as lopsided or parochial as you make it seem.

MatthewBrown74m

Bull he's a great actor you love him like there's no tomorrow cassie

Matt

Have you seen Waterworld 1995, its another Kevin Costner film you might like

David RedEagle

He is amazing that's for sure. Decades of amazing films, some well know others not as much. Like The Postman, often not as well know unlike Waterworld or Dances with Wolves.

Matt

Also iv got some trailer recommendations for you "The Fabelmans" from Steven Spielberg and "Babylon" by Damien Chazelle

VivendoBem

It's not that Costner is a bad actor so much as he has no range. As long as he is playing an athlete or a cowboy, he's great. Pretty much anything else and he's pretty dire.

Brian McGovern

When you watch Men In Tights, know that it came out a little after Prince of Thieves. They have a little fun in MIT at Kevin Costner's expense, which comes back to that question about KC being a good actor.

Shehab Dawoud

Costner has had some good performances but overall he's definitely not a great actor, I'm sorry. He's just too bland, too vanilla, and that's not (just) because he's white. Limited range as well. You need to see more performances from the likes of De Niro, Pacino, Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, DDL, Denzel, Marlon Brando. Then you'll see just how big the gap is between great actors and ordinary ones. I just mentioned in another thread about a recent movie called 'Bodies Bodies Bodies', think that would be a good one for Carly to watch. She could also handle The Birds, no doubt. As for you, Cassie, most of the movies that have been recommended to you, you can watch on your own. Hope you trust our intentions.

Gábor Árki

Based on the length Cassie reacted to the 143m long theatrical cut of the movie, which seems to be the dominantly (only?) available version on the US streaming market. But this cut of the movie is practically unobtainable on home video because every major release since a ~1997 DVD contains only a 155m long extended cut. This version also seems to be available on streaming in some regions. So all in all, there is a good chance you might not have access to the theatrical version and you will have to manually sync this longer cut with the reaction. Based on what https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1206 gathered there are 11 differences between the cuts. The time codes listed on this site are most likely refer to a PAL (25p) theatrical version, but I could not locate a theatrical copy anywhere to verify that. Because of that I collected the changes in the extended version (Blu-ray). The following timestamps refer to the extended version of the movie (so not the timer on the blurry video) and should mark when you have to pause Cassie's reaction and for how long to keep it in sync with an extended version of the movie: 1. 0:21:36 - 0:21:40> 4 seconds 2. 0:22:10 - 0:22:18> 8 seconds Don't be alarmed, there is a mix-up in scenes here. Theatrical continues with Robin reaching home and then the scene introducing the witch, the extended has the witch scene first then Robin arriving home. Around 0:27:00 you should be back in sync with the reaction. 3. 0:48:29 - 0:50:04> 1 minute 35 seconds 4. 0:58:10 - 0:58:15> 5 seconds 5. 1:07:21 - 1:07:56> 35 seconds 6. 1:10:49 - 1:11:16> 27 seconds 7. 1:23:18 - 1:23:48> 30 seconds 8. 1:34:42 - 1:37:38> 2 minutes 56 seconds 9. 1:52:15 - 1:53:10> 55 seconds 10. 1:54:10 - 1:54:28> 18 seconds 11. 1:59:37 - 2:04:26> 4 minutes 51 seconds Edit: just finished the movie. It is manageable to watch the reaction with the extended cut of the movie, but with some caveats. There is a change in the order of the scenes but the timestamps are more or less can be used to keep your copy in sync. Updated the guide a bit.

Shawn Kildal

I believe this was Costner's first Razzie award for worst actor. He had a string of these including this movie, The Postman, Waterworld, Wyatt Earp and maybe one or two others that his performance and the movie was criticized heavily if I recall correctly. Personally, I think he's a great actor but even he had his clunkers.

Jason Chirevas

Costner is good at what he’s good at; Everyman roles. He struggles if he has to play a distinctive or colorful character. Conversely, Roy Scheider (Chief Brody from JAWS) was also a great Everyman, but he was able to diversify into character parts as he aged. Costner hasn’t done that, which is why he’s still playing straight-arrow western leads at 67. No one gives him credit for it but I think Costner’s best performance was in JFK. That one’s going to be an eye-opener when you get to it, Cassie. I’d say bring Carly along too.

Mannygogou

many actors can only play themselves. They become movie stars. Correct me if I'm wrong but when you see Tom Hanks in a role, don't you see Tom Hanks playing a role?

David Freese

Thanks for a great reaction to a movie I enjoy. This came out when I was living in Europe so I had to watch it on VHS for the first time . It was one of the few times my entire family actually sat down and watched a movie together. I believe it shows as much of the story as Robin Hood 38. It has its flaws but it's enjoyable and has one of the best villians in history.

Björn Karlsson

I know a movie about LOVE!!!! It's even in the US/UK title of the movie. 😉😉😉

Pickupthepieces76

Costner is decent actor, but limited range. But when cast right there is nothing wrong with that. Many roles don't demand a transformation. He does have a certain charisma (maybe more so for the ladies?) and has been active behind the camera (director/producer) which helped his acting career. However if you look at truly great actors like Christian Bale or Daniel Day-Lewis he is nowhere near that. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy his movies.

Pickupthepieces76
>>91905666

I have to say I find Denzel Washington (if that is the Denzel is you are referring to) not a great actor. He has had some good roles for sure, but in most of his moves he kinda does the same thing.

Larry Darrell

The movie is just pure Blockbuster Fun. The fact that Kevin Costner is an Everyman, means that when he plays major roles like this, you get to see yourself playing the role. Good or bad, you identify with the character more. Kevin Costner has an "Aw Shucks" quality about himself, and gives the Robin Hood character some humility, which is lacking in some previous versions.

Julian Corbett

Unfortunately KC was completely acted off the screen by the late Alan Rickman, which shows he was a poor choice to play RH. It needed someone with the same range and "presence" to go toe-to-toe with AR as the Sheriff of Nottinhgam and I'm afraid KC failed miserably.

Mike Lemon
>>91905639

Mr. Brooks was great. The Bodyguard, The Guardian, The Untouchables...

Pickupthepieces76
>>91905696

Thanks for the work Gabor! I do only have an extended copy and in my country you can only stream it via Microsoft (?). Not even sure which version they have, but not gonna pay for it If I already have a copy myself. So hopefully this list will make it relatively painless.

Jay SMARTASS

I do like this one but i liked Russel Crow's version better maybe i weird...😅..still the the Disney Robin Hood is still the best one in my eyes..😁

Mike Lemon

Halloween-y not scary- Interview with the Vampire (1994), The Crow (1994) Scary not scary- Saw (2004)- only the first one, Dracula (1931)

William Bryan

Everytime I see this movie it reminds me of the '91 World Series. After Game 7 CBS played this theme with highlights from the '91 playoffs. Nostalgic yet heartbreaking because Atlanta came oh so close to winning it all.

Caomhan84

I always delight in seeing people's reactions to Sean Connery at the end. Cassie's brain had to reset when he showed up, but isn't it great that thanks to this channel, she's seen his movies, knows who he is, so the cameo really works? I love it. :)

zynjams

you need to watch Stardust if you like adventure, love, Villains, witches,

Jason Fulbright

The Postman over Waterworld but both are fun flicks.

djKENTO

Love when Connery shows up. It’s a great nod to the fact he played Robin Hood in the very romance forward, Robin and Marian in 1976, which is a slower film, but a lot of people love the chemistry between Connery and Audrey Hepburn.

James MacDonald

I don't think Costner is a bad actor at all. He's very understated. As others have said, his range is pretty limited. I mean, watch his delivery of "Hey dad, wanna have a catch?" and tell me he's a bad actor.

Alex Gorell

Kevin Costner’s best stuff is honestly is his current show Yellowstone, but he’s kinda like John Wayne. he’s really good at one type of role and that’s it.

Richard Bourne

I like the Kevin Costner version and him as an actor. I liked the "This is English Courrage" scene. Seth MacFarlane (creator of Family, American Dad and several movies ie. Ted) has this thing against him I just don't get. The Russel Crowe version of Robin Hood is also good and brings the Magna Carta into the story for some depth.

aarswft
>>91913406

Yellowstone is a once in a lifetime show, but I would be hesitant to recommend it to just anyone.

GamerGal8684

For the record, Kevin Costner is a good actor :) I think you would love The Bodyguard personally. Sure he has had a movie here or there not the best but that doesn’t mean he is a bad actor. Plus he his handsome and Alan Rickman is possibly the most quotable Sheriff there is

David Crabtree

(Not too scary) Halloween recommendations: The Burbs, Monster Squad, Paranormal Activity, Monster House.

Andrew Hogan

I’d agree with what’s being said about Kevin Costner. He’s very good at what he’s good at. He’s a good looking dude with charm and that’s what sold movies. He’s not going to win many acting awards, but he’s solid enough. I’d say Dances With Wolves, Tin Cup, Field Of Dreams and JFK are some of his best performances.

Brian Jones

To be fair, it was really this movie alone that got him the reputation for being a "bad actor". Primarily because of the halfhearted attempt at an English accent that he basically just gives up on roughly 15 minutes into the movie. :) But this was always a pretty lighthearted romp anyway, so it doesn't spoil the fun camp of the film. Otherwise Kevin has had a really solid career. Granted he's had a few duds, but that can be said of any actor that's worked as much as he has. Overall he's had a pretty stellar career and lasted far longer than most.

Ry Jo

LadyHawk and First Knight are good

Jason Dolan
>>91916136

DRAFT DAY was actually a really amazing sports film... and now he has YELLOWSTONE

Ian Forbes

No so scary Halloween recommendations: Monster Squad and What We Do in the Shadows

Alex Villarreal

Whether or not Costner is a good actor is moot (I think many other movies demonstrate he is), he is 100 percent a movie star. And a great director, too.

Andrew Hogan

Not so scary Halloween recommendation: Scary Movie (ironic). Some movies to add to the the list that are close to this. Three Musketeers Rocketeer White Fang

Shehab Dawoud
>>91924064

You can't appreciate Scary Movie unless you've seen the movies that it's spoofing. Not sure how the other movies you mentioned are related to Halloween?

Bubba Fett

Lol cool down, I'm in south Texas, fall is just summer with pumpkins

Robert da Spruce

Gotta love Alan Rickman. RIP He played some memorable roles over the years. Hans Gruber, Professor Snape, Dr. Lazarus(Alexander Dane), etc… By Grabthar’s hammer….😀 Looking forward to watching this reaction tonight!

Trembling Colors

The Frighteners by Peter Jackson starring Michael J. Fox I think would be a good one for you and Carly. It’s scary enough but has comedy too so there is some relief.

Robert da Spruce

Just an FYI Cassie. I clicked the link to find your own copy to watch along with you. And it took me to the download the full reaction on Google drive.

Jimmie V

Yeah, I've always felt this movie was underrated and happy you loved it too. I can't remember if you've seen the original Psycho, but that's not too scary and it's a classic everybody should see. There's also Mulholland Drive which is only half horror and has been dubbed the greatest film of the 21 century by several publications.

My_Cousin_Mose

I think Misery from Stephen King is a good candidate for this Halloween. It's about on the same level as "The Others" I'd say. Too scary for Carly but you can handle it.

My_Cousin_Mose

I'm also gonna throw out a suggestion for "Interview with a Vampire" again. Honestly its just a good movie that has absolutely nothing to do with Halloween other than it's about vampires. I think its slightly below Carly's scary threshold.

Scott Macaulay

We played the Bryan Adams song from this at my last wedding. I think you’ll like this because it’s got the squishy lovey feels.

My Fat Butt

For horror , give the movie Christine a try . It's a love triangle between a man , his car , and his girl . Another not so scary movie , is Return to Oz . It was made in the eighties , and it's a sequel to The Wizard of Oz . Also , it was made by Disney .

Mike Lemon
>>91927951

Plus Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Antonio Banderas. I'm sure the ladies could find something to appreciate about the movie.

Goony71
>>91924834

That would definitely fit under the not too scary criteria, from what I remember it was decent too.

GamerGal8684
>>91916402

I agree w Ry here on First Knight. Has a wonderful cast and feels in the vein of Legends of the fall a little

Celeste McAllister

Once I got past Kevin Costner's California accent Robin, the story moved right along..And no way Sheriff of Knottingham we are not going to call off Christmas!!!

Patrick Flanagan

I think Kevin Costner is a good storyteller and a decent, sometimes great, usually solid, actor. I think PRINCE OF THIEVES is not one of his better performances in strict acting terms but he's smart enough to usually get out of the way of the story and let things play out without trying to emote too hard. The director, Kevin Reynolds, worked with Costner first on the doomed 1985 movie FANDANGO (produced by Steven Spielberg, who hated the finished product and basically buried it with an extremely short theatrical run and took his name off it). They went on to work together on the equally unlucky WATERWORLD (the most expensive movie ever made at the time) and the much luckier TV miniseries HATFIELDS & MCCOYS. The '90s was the beginning of the Golden Age of Superhero Movies, where basically every subgenre got a few tries - horror heroes, kiddie/family friendly heroes, funny heroes, pulp adventure heroes, and swashbucklers. PRINCE OF THIEVES was the first of several new swashbucklers, followed by THE THREE MUSKETEERS (1993), CUTTHROAT ISLAND (1995), THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK and THE MASK OF ZORRO (both 1998), THE MUSKETEER (2001) and THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO (2002), with the genre really taking off with the launch of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series in 2003.

Wesley White

SWEET!!!!!!! I'm gonna be heading to work soon, but I so can't wait to watch this eventually! hey, there's nothing wrong with saying "I love him" to a great actor like Kevin Costner or any other actor I've heard you say that too in your reactions, just means you've got good taste lol! I have a lot of favorite actors that I admire, even ones people like to say are not good actors! so there's nothing wrong with that! Alan Rickman, may he RIP, really steals the show as the sheriff in this movie, it was this movie was how I became a fan of his, then "Die Hard", then "Quigley Down Under" I highly recommend that one lol! hope you have a good rest of your week! my birthday is this Thursday, just thought I'd share that lol! lots of love and support, till then, stay classy Cassie lol!🥰😁😉👍

MikeLL
>>91909619

I agree. This was THE scene I've been waiting for all week, to see Cassie get a dopamine shot when Sir Sean showed up as King Richard, foreshadowed so well by Richard's appearance at the end of Robin Hood 38.

Michael Lynch

Kevin Costner's acting aside, he does well enough in this movie to be likeable. This is the only Robin Hood I care about. Great action, great bad guy, the stakes are high and it's super emotional. It's just the best one

MikeLL

56:13: "Yerhh! Can someone blot him?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 SO FUNNY!!

zynjams

dark shadows is a fun scary not to scary Halloween movie

zynjams

a great halloween movie would be Shaun of the Dead starring Simon Peg

Gábor Árki
>>91910714

They both have worst reputation than they actually are. TBH I think they are quite similar to this movie in many ways, just lacking the familiar setting of the Robin Hood story and the catchy tune that made this one really popular. In case of Waterworld, the extended TV cut, also the so called "Ulysses" cut (extended but without the TV censorship limitations) make a clear improvement too adding back several important moments that were cut from the theatrical just to squeeze the runtime closer to 2 hours.

Gábor Árki

I guess horror buffs will hate these recommendations. I know, it's mainly an adventure movie, but for Cassie and Carly The Mummy (1999) would provide several frightening scenes and could work as a warmup. Another one that I could think of is The Village (2004). I know it is not the best Shyamalan but I think it is better than its rep and the mystery/suspense element is something they might even like.

Björn Karlsson

One underrated, almost unknown werewolf movie, is the british movie "Dog soldiers" from 2002. I really like that movie. No CGI 😀 👹👹👹🥲🥲🥲 available on FshareTV for instance.

JL_83

always enjoyed the Costner version, even all these years later

Michael Labs

Hmm... Not so scary? Monster Squad, What Lies Beneath, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Psycho II, The Serpent and the Rainbow... The Thing is likely too much for Carly but not on the level of The Shining. The Haunting of Hill House series combines horror with a greater helping of tragedy. More Costner recommendations include Open Range and also Mr Brooks.

Michael Labs

Doggonnit; I completely forgot about The Addams Family from the 1990s.

Larry Darrell

Gonna have to wait for the Weekend for this one, dang it. Echoing some other terrific people, Kevin Costner is a talented actor, and a Joy to watch. Prince of Thieves is just One of the Amazing Stories that he has given us. We’ve only just begun on this Channel, cause I’m sure Cassie will want to continue on this Adventure. I’ll mention 2 earlier films that were his breakout, and introduced everyone to his endearing charm. Fandango (1985) & Silverado (1985)

Tinkerbell

I have to say I sort of agree with the sentiment about Kevin Costner’s acting. I think in the right roles (Field of Dreams, the Bodyguard, dances with wolves for example)he’s great, but he doesn’t seem to have a whole lot of range. He played a lot of the same sorts of characters in his career and that worked pretty well for him, I think. For me, this was a miscast for him mostly because this movie is all about Alan Rickman’s performance. His dynamic performance here isn’t really doing anyone else any favors (except Morgan Freeman). Rickman was so great in this. All of my favorite lines and scenes from this movie involved him. Rickman is the reason I watch it over and over again. He was just able to play really good bad guy and no one could deliver a line like him.

Steve Holton

Tremors (1990) is a good amount of fun scary for Carly. I saw it at the Vineland drive-in theatre in Los Angeles. Ironically there was a small earthquake during the screening. Just laughter after, no drive-outs.

Shawn Kildal

The lack of an English accent wasn't as much of a problem for me to get passed as much as Robin Hood's $$$ well trimmed and groomed hollywood looking hairstyle. If there was an Oscar for men with fancy hairstyles during a medieval times movie this movie would have won it

Rick Williams

It's been to long since I've seen this movie. I forgot how fun it is. Great reaction Cassie. I knew you would love it. It a shame Carly missed it.

nick bell

Never noticed Robin Hoods dad was Hawkman from Flash Gordan!!

Larry Darrell
>>91952700

You saying Costner was more groomed than Errol Flynn? Did you see what was on his face? No matter about Costner or Flynn anyways, the Oscar would go to Robin Hood 1973, for Robin & Marian’s beautiful Red & Orange Pelts. Tell me you’ve seen more lustrous and attractive Hairdos. I think Cassie would agree.

Erik Daniel

I have been looking forward to this all day. I saw the notification when I was leaving for work, and I have had the score in my head ever since. That and, "you know it's true. Everything I do, I do it for you". But seriously this score is top notch. The whole block knew when my Pops was watching this because he would blast the opening at max volume because of the amazing music. I'm talking wall shaking levels, but can you blame him? It is so good in fact, that Morgan Creek productions used it over the logo for years after. Also, just to defend my boy (and your man) Kevin Costner. He is a fine actor. He's just not a Chameleon like Gary Oldman of Christian Bale. He's the 'everyman' leading man, kind of like your other man, Harrison Ford. It does not mean he is not a good actor. The man still has a great ability to make you feel the emotion of the character. But I may be blinded by his squinty eyes as well...

Cole Jennett

I would suggest Identity as being a not too scary movie for both of you to watch. It’s not horror, more a thriller, but still scary, and that’s the definer. I enjoyed House at the End of the Street with Jennifer Lawrence, but recognize horror fans didn’t really like it. It wasn’t too scary either.

zynjams

the best movie that you will never watch because of these polls is The Majestic starring Jim Carrey. just watched it again. so good. very good movie for Veterans day

Miles E Coburn

It became fashionable for people to denigrate and otherwise "hate" (I truly dislike that word in everyday conversation) on Kevin Costner after his opus, "Dances With Wolves" did so well. Most of the criticism was unwarranted, in my opinion. But those who are sheep and other followers just picked up the drumbeat for no other reason than "so-and-so" said he wasn't any good. Hell, even "Waterworld" was all right for all its faults. But no matter what else he does, that stigma will stay with him.

Miles E Coburn
>>91960865

Most polls are going to give you the same movies on virtually every reaction channel. It's due to the skew of the younger demographics that use the Internet. For instance, the poll for the Memorial Day movie was "Full Metal Jacket", a movie that showed the military in a negative light. For my money, "We Were Soldiers" would have been a better choice, but polls being what they are, it never would have won.

Robert da Spruce

Great reaction Cassie! I’m glad you enjoyed the movie! For your next Costner film, I think The Bodyguard is something you would enjoy!

Ray Johnson

Have you seen Ghost (1990) yet? I know you liked Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing. He's great in this one, too. It's not really scary, more of a thriller

My_Cousin_Mose

The movie is just ok for me but thoroughly enjoyable with this reaction, especially the last 20 min or so. I'd glad you really liked this one though its hardly a surprise.

The Real NC Picker
>>91962521

I love this movie, but you lose credibility when you have to insult to make your point. You really lose credibility when you try to defend Waterworld.

The Real NC Picker
>>91963394

It will never happen, but For The Love of The Game is a great Costner Rom/Comish movie, she would love.

Brian Lowery

Halloween suggestions on the Carly Scale: Assault on Precinct 13(1976), The Birds, The Faculty, Needful Things, Arachnophobia, and Gremlins.

Alex Villarreal

Halloween "not-too-scary" picks: SHAUN OF THE DEAD, with your favorite sidekick from MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, Simon Pegg. And SLEEPY HOLLOW, a horror fantasy thriller with young Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci.

BJ Stephens

Cassie as you asked for spooky suggestions for the upcoming month, I can't not recommend The Haunting of Hill House (Netflix Series). It is definitely creepy and has some intense scares, but it's also a very well made family drama. I'm not even really a horror fan, and I place it among the best TV shows I've watched in the last couple of decades. The show is only 10 episodes long, I imagine if you started it at the beginning of the month and watched a couple eps a week you'd be done right after Halloween. Anyway just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in the hat. Loved your reaction for this film btw!

Patrick Egan

As many liberties as they took with the classic Robin Hood story, and as much as I wish Kevin Costner and Christian Slater would've made up their minds whether to attempt an English accent or not, I love this movie. When it comes to memorable lines, most people go straight to Alan Rickman as the Sherriff, but it's Morgan Freeman who has two of my favorites. I just love his answer to the little girl who asked if God painted him, "Because Allah loves wondrous variety". And I never fail to crack up earlier in the movie when he exclaims, "Is there no sun in this cursed country?!?" :)

nick bell

Cheesy but with the good cheese

Damon Corrigan

Great reaction, Cassie - I knew you were going to lose it a little at the end with Sean Connery as King Richard - just well done. This is a good one. You really, really need to try Ladyhawke from 1984. You would love it.

Gary Smith

I was always surprised that Prince of Thieves never got a sequel.

Stick Figure Studios

There's the reason why this film reminds you of THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO: it's because they're both directed by the same guy, Kevin Reynolds. This is a bit of a mixed bag as a Robin Hood movie. It's got marvelous atmosphere and period detail (except for that very '90s hair, yikes), some thrilling action and a glorious music score by the late great Michael Kamen, but it is so hammy at times. When I saw it in the theater as a kid I was shocked by how dark and violent to take on Robin Hood legend it was, but when I watch it now it just strikes me as a very tonally inconsistent film. It has the requisite amount of swashbuckling, romance and comedy, but it is a very uneven product and, unfortunately, Kevin Costner is one of its weaker elements. He's a fine actor when you get him in the right roll, but this isn't it. He's more of a down-to-earth, good old-fashioned traditional American boy, more like Gary Cooper than Errol Flynn. He it's not really a leader type or a heroic action figure and when they try to pass him off as one (like here or in WATERWORLD, also directed by Kevin Reynolds), it is awkward at best. I still like the film and I knew you would love it, so thank you for the great reaction.

Nathan Bishop

I was hoping to get a "shuck it, Trebek" from Cassie at the end.

Nathan Bishop
>>92024487

And I was surprised that Cassie didn't even mentioned how "PJ" wasn't even in this movie, and how they basically combined PJ and the Sheriff into one character.

Erik Daniel

Swiss family Robinson? Was that the family in the trees? Anyways, wow that was awesome levels of fun. I knew you would love this one, but wow did you love this one. That grand romance really struck a chord with you, eh? lol. Of course, we all knew your Costner love would run deeper with this one as well, "you got this...I love you". lol And I'm sure someone must have singled out the reaction to "you came for me. you're alive". "I would die for you". With that, I must say again that if you don't know the Bryan Adams song '(everything I do) I do it for you', please check it out if you have time, I think you would dig it for a few reasons. Specifically, the video that was shot for the movie release. It's a great love song but written specifically for the movie so you'll recognize lines and themes. Also, Michael Kamen incorporates it into the score at romantic moments so it's pretty much Robin and Marian's theme. Any who, thanks a bunch I had a blast watching along. One of my favorites, I'm glad you had so much fun with it. Alright, I'm out. Lollapalooza!!

Jerrod Acree

Does she know the love song by Bryan Adams?

Hannah Mather

Hey Cassie, Love this themed week. If you are looking for more robin hood content, BBC did a, lower budget but still great in my opinion, Robin Hood TV series starring Jonas Armstrong. I don't think it is really something you'd want to watch for the channel, and that's fine, but its worth mentioning in case it is something you might want to try on your own time. Its a bit cheesy at points but a fun longer form robin hood story. I recommend it.

Justin

Love the reaction Cassie. I KNEW you were going to love this one for the love story alone.😊 My two Robin Hoods growing up were this one and the Disney version. Gonna watch the Disney watch along tomorrow.😁 Now it I may toss a couple Halloween suggestions to you, I would recommend ANY of the classic monster movies (i.e. Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolf Man, Invisible Man, etc), Sweeny Todd (a horror musical with Johnny Depp), Young Frankenstein (a wonderful comedy spoof from Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder), Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane (I debated on this one cause it is bloody in some scenes and a bit spooky, but it's also an enjoyable murder mystery as well.), and The Frighteners with Michael J. If you get a chance I can't recommend the series "Robin of Sherwood" (it was produced in the 80's by the BBC) highly enough. It stars Michael Praed as Robin of Loxley in seasons 1 and 2, and then his bow is taken up by Jason Connery (Sean Connery's son) as Robert of Huntingdon, son of the Earl. Music is done by Clannad.

There's another Robin Hood that I quite liked, the 2010 Russell Crowe film of the same name. For not so scary recommendations, I'd second The 'Burbs with Tom Hanks. Thanks!

This movie was my favorite movie next to the Disney "Robin Hood" movie growing up. And the Bryan Adams song is still a banger of song. I hope she will eventually do Disney's live action 3 musketeers movie to complete the second greatest Bryan Adams song (technically it was also sung by Sting and Rod Stewart) in my opinion. Overall this reaction brought a smile to my face. Good Job

Alan Rickman's probably most endearing role is in Sense and Sensibility. Hopefully Cassie will get to see that sometime soon!

Canadianant

For Halloween I would suggest sleepy Hollow with Johny Depp and Christina Ricci

Wu Sha Ling

Costner is not convincing in the slightest as Robin Hood, an English lord. But he oozes charm and the ham Rickman brings make this an incredible fun watch nonetheless

Doug Fisher

Not so scary is hard to say because we all have different levels. For you and Carly I would suggest "The Frighteners" with Michael J. Fox and the same director as "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy (Peter Jackson). It has some scares, some humor, and a love story. There is also one of my go to Halloween movies, "Sleepy Hollow" with Johnny Depp. It has some scares, some mystery / figure it out in it, and a love story. Though, "The Frighteners is probably closer to Carly's level than "Sleepy Hollow".

Björn Karlsson

Trollhunter is really good. Little bit scary. The mockumantary style of the movie makes it exiting. 😄

Well I couldn’t wait for the Weekend, made time for it last night. Holy Geez, I have my new Favorite Reaction . I knew you would love this. You were so giddy at the end, you lost your seat. I’ll be watching this one again this weekend, I know it. Also, I hope you take a lot of these disparaging comments with a grain of salt. The only reviewer or critic that matters is yourself. If you love Kevin Costner, then I hope you continue to watch his films, because I think he’s A-O Tay. I mentioned before, Fandango (1985), also directed by Kevin Reynolds, & The Postman (1997), which is similar in spirit to Robin Hood, among many others already mentioned. Had a Ball last night, Thank You. Side Note: The Theatrical release is on Showtime until the 30th.

The only thing that I cringe over is the scene where the villagers are oppressed and in trouble and in the next frame, we see RH casually galloping to their rescue, not a rapid-sprint-because-there's-no-time-to-spare kind of thing. I know, it's just me but when I see it, I cringe.

Houston727Gal

This is what prompted the Men In Tights parody line, “unlike some Robin Hoods’s, I speak with an English accent!”😂😂😂

John Cranberry

I wish it was the extended version because I can’t even find the Theatrical release online.

What I was going to suggest - with Carly level scariness and lots of good Johnny Depp quirkiness

John Cranberry

When I click Find Your own Copy, it goes to the downlink of the reaction. Can anyone help me out because I can't find the Theatrical Release.

Thanks for the heads up! It's fixed. I think you can find it on all the major movie rental places like amazon, youtube, apple etc!

John Cranberry

For ALL the Aussies searching for Theatrical. Stan has it. 30 day trial without cost. You're welcome.

I'm in Australia, so I got it on Stan. But honestly, I reckon Extended Version would have been easier IMO.

A few 'not too scary' movie suggestions for you and Carly. The Mothman Prophecies, Wolf (with Jack!), The Bone Collector, Kiss The Girls, and Panic Room (great fall movie as well). Now some of these are more thrillers rather than scary movies, but we don't want a repeat of The Shining now do we? Wait, do we? I'm kidding, I'm kidding we'll be looking out for you, don't worry. These should all be below your threshold (1 or 2 may be hovering above Carly's)

I feel like Costner is underrated. He got this image as a "bad" actor I think solely from Robin Hood, due to him only half-assing an English accent. As for his other movies, he just has this relaxed naturalism that I think comes off quite well. People always say, "But a real actor is totally different in every movie." I don't know. I think some actors are good at that, but other actors are very good at being variations of the same thing, but that doesn't make them any less effective in their respective movies. Not everyone is Daniel Day Lewis. (Besides, Costner HAS done different roles. He's really good in the Eastwood-directed "A Perfect World.")

Dennis Shogren

1983: The Dead Zone, with Christopher Walken, Tom Skerritt, Martin Sheen, Anthony Zerbe. I don’t watch much horror so can’t make accurate comparisons about how scary.

Erik Daniel

I thought of one that isn't too scary. Constantine! Also, I hope she knows Hocus Pocus 2 is coming out in about a week.

Love A Perfect World! And well said, Costner might not be a chameleon like Daniel Day or Gary Oldman, but still a great actor. The perfect 'Everyman'.

Aaron Mann

As far as "scary but not too scary," I'll throw Bird Box into the ring.

Björn Karlsson

I have mentioned Trollhunter earlier. Check this out..https://youtu.be/WAhHmAJkAS4 Don't be scared, it's in english, not norwegian 😉😉😉 Cassie should not see it. This is imo a perfect movie for her to do a reaction of. Scary, but not so scary 😃

Neill Shaughness

I love this themed approach to picking movies! So much fun to see different versions of a character throughout the history of cinema! I'd love to see more series like this. Maybe Frankenstein for October?

Matt B.

Really? No mentioning of the theme song "Everything I Do" at all though the melody comes up several times? 🤷🏼‍♂️😉😊

Dan McAlister

Cassie, if you want a “spooky” movie for the season, watch Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, I beg you. Funniest mildly scary movie ever made. It’s a classic. You’ll thank me.😎

Kevin C

Halloween movie that’s a medium kind of scary, but also has a love story…. The Crow! I watch it every Halloween. It’s emo and moody and very 90’s, but it’s spectacular

Larry Darrell

I just watched this Film with Cassie’s Reaction for a Second time in 4 Days, and am pleased to say it did not depreciate. I am a Classic Film buff, but still say with all honesty, this is the better version of Robin Hood. The Story has more depth and the characters are fuller. And it is just so Gosh Dern Enjoyable. Cassie’s reaction has only enhanced my Enjoyment.

Raven Dark

Haha, I loved this reaction so much. My heart is so happy right now. This is why you are one of my favorite reactors, Cassie. Did you say "Mordor" during the swordmaking scene in Nottingham's castle? LOL! That was classic. Perfect delivery, and every time you make references like that, you make me happy. So good. So good. Now that you've seen this and loved it, you NEED to see A Knight's Tale. It's perfect for you. It has everything you liked from this movie. Well, almost everything, there's no witch. LOL Still, I think you will love it as much as this one. And it stars Heath Legder in top form. Such an enjoyable watch. Can't wait to see what's next!

Miles E Coburn

Great reactions, Cassie! Yes, this is a different adaptation of the Robin Hood lore, but I honestly only had one issue with this. And that's the Will Scarlet / Robin Locksley being brothers (1/2 brothers, actually). That was just a bit too far for my tastes. But all in all, an enjoyable movie. With your reaction to this movie, coupled with your and Carley's reaction to "The Count of Monte Cristo", I honestly think you two would enjoy "Ladyhawke" (1985). It's a terrific sword and sorcery film, a terrific story, and a terrific Love Story to boot. Some don't like it because of the Alan Parsons score; it's use of synthesizers rather than the cliched medieval type of music. But I didn't think it was distracting at all. And it is what Alan Parsons does.
