[YT Edit] Frankenstein (1931)

David Guin

You still have time to do Little Shop of Horrors for Halloween

Gary Shaw

Watch the Criterion Collection edition of the 1931 Frankenstein. The sound was vastly improved. Boris Karloff played the monster. The Criterion Collection vastly improves prints and sound over regular editions of older movies.

Christopher Smith

You know been waiting for someone to mention it, and not seen it yet so I guess I will. "I, Frankenstien" is technically in franchise and stars Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy and it is shockingly bad but worth a laugh. Besides, Yvonne Strahovski from "Chuck" is in it. It is truly wackadoo, so be warned.

Are you sure you're not thinking about Flesh for Frankenstein? Because the 1931 Frankenstein isn't in the Criterion Collection. It isn't on blu-ray, DVD, or on laserdisc.

Gary Shaw

It's on The Criterion Channel.

No cap I just watched this the other day. 😆 So in sync. When you get the chance id also recommend Dr Jekyll mr Hyde and Invisible Man from the 30s

March's first mirror transformation into Hyde shook me. I started forward in my seat mouth agape at how eerie it looked. Superb, especially for '31.

So iconic! Loved it and how it was a one off. Every other transformation was shot and edited differently.

Louis Wilberger

FYI Boris Karloff played the part of the monster.

Louis Wilberger

The sound was klunky because Talking pictures were only a couple years old in 1931
