Veterans Day/Remembrance Day Poll (Patreon)
Content
Most of you know I grew up in Canada, we had Remembrance Day on November 11th and I can still vividly remember those special assemblies where veterans would come speak to us and we would all wear a poppy. A few times I recited the poem "In Flanders Fields" and it was always really special to me. I will share it at the end of this post.
For this Veterans Day poll I wanted to focus on movies that deal more with the veteran experience. I did not include "The Best Years of our Lives" because I will be watching that anyways this month <3.
This poll will close Friday at midnight, I will watch Saturday, and uploaded Sunday to Patreon.
Flanders Fields by Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
