Quite the mixed bag of a lineup this week eh? Thats the fun part though right?

I say this in my intro for the Hurtlocker (which will be up here this afternoon) but I saw and hear your comments on the Veterans Day Poll and will do my best to "hear you" with my actions!

BIG WEEK GUYS! Patreon Trivia Night Tomorrow 11/9 @6PM MDT and YT LIVE this SATURDAY 11/12 @ 3 PM MDT (are we MDT now or MST now?!why is Dyalight Savings Time so hard?!) We are going to play the DVD dice game on the Live as well, should be fun!

But actually, Moms against Daylight Savings! Who is with me? My kids didn't get the Sunday Snooze memo or any day after that.

I may have mentioned it before but I am working on a Cassie Catch Up Poll with pillowcase pull wildcards, vocal promises etc. haha look for that one this week, talk about a mixed bag!

I hope to see you all at Trivia Night, remember the winner gets Amazon $$ and to give me a list of 5 movies to react to that I can choose from!

Can't wait!

xoxo

Really good movies 🎬 kiddo can't wait!

David Freese

Nice variety like normal 🙂!! 😱😂 See you on Wednesday and Saturday.

Michael Lynch

We’ve got some good ones this week. All of these are really good in their own right. Robert Redford’s gonna woo you girls and hit you in the feels. District 9 is just so freaking cool.

mikethemotormouth

"Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" - RIP Marvin Lee Aday

Mike LL

This is no mixed bag this week! It's a Theme Week! They are all poll winners! It's the first ever Poll Winner Week!

Stick Figure Studios

Certainly an interesting variety of films this week (different styles, tones and genres) with a movie that I think is fantastic, a movie that I think is pretty good and a movie that I didn't particularly care for. I won't say which is which yet because I don't want to influence you at all before having seen them (though people who've read my previously posted comments might be able to figure out where my proclivities lie). Anyway, should be fun. Looking forward to it.

nick bell

3 entertaining films. Good stuff. The Natural is made for you.

Grinznmore

Queen's Gambit is in the batter's box as well, correct? By the way, if you need another Fargo fix, you'll get it with Fargo Season One with Billy Bob Thornton.

Kat Farlowe

Three great films! Enjoy.

Matt Rose

Boy are you going to love THE NATURAL.

Alex Gorell

I hope Carly is watching the Natural with you because it was made for the both of ya.

Robert da Spruce

Nice lineup! Plus Trivial night! Quite a jam packed week ahead!

Cole Jennett

I like that you are potentially doing a poll of some of the movies you’ve been sort of forced into promising.

Mingo Wayama

I remember Cassie saying in her November 2nd Upcoming post that Queen's Gambit would start in November. I really hope that holds.

Jennifer Medicus

Team year-round daylight savings time. This getting dark at 5pm (and earlier) is awful.

Wyatt Nuxoll

The hurt locker is a really good movie, if I'm not mistakin I believe it won a couple awards at the Oscar's. It really keeps you on the edge of your seat with its suspense . It would also not be a bad idea to have some tissues on standby. They don't title the movie "the hurt locker" for no reason

Richard Bourne

"Eh?" How Canadian. The Milwaukee German version is Aina Hey? Hurt Locker was an anti-Iraqui War (the second one under Bush 43, not Operation Desert Storm under Bush 41) directed by James Cameron's ex-wife which only grossed 21 million on the initial release. An interesting tie between Hurt Locker and District 9 is the V-hulled anti-IED UN trucks were first shown in District 9. That became the design of choice for operations in Iraq and the Humvees were too vulnerable to IEDs.

My_Cousin_Mose

Usually I'm working during trivia night but I'll be there for this one! GET READY TO LOSE PEOPLE!

zynjams

Cannot wait for the natural

Mike Lemon

Hatred of daylight saving is one of very few issues there is overwhelming support of. When the bill to stop it was in the Senate, I barely saw anyone that wanted to keep the twice a year time switch. The was some argument over staying on standard vs saving, but there was nearly universal agreement to pick one and be done with the switching.

It won because the academy wanted to stick the middle finger at Camarons brilliant movie Avatar. Which made over a billion dollars

Elliot Nesterman

As I posted on the tubes of you, if Chick Flick January is a real thing I once again plump for "Moonstruck." A perfect film for you and Carly. You won't be disappointed. Also, you should seriously consider "An Affair to Remember" (1957). Starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, and directed by Leo McCarey, it is widely considered one of the best romantic dramas of all time, ranking #5 on AFI's list of most romantic films. (Casablanca is #1.) And It is significantly quoted in "Sleepless in Seattle."

Ben Livingstone

Apparently, Daylight Saving was suggested by a New Zealander who wanted more after-hours time to catch insects. Too bad for the rest of us.

Bill W

I can't believe Bull Durham lost two baseball polls, and to the Natural??? COME ON PEOPLE!!

Wyatt Nuxoll
>>95224119

That maybe idk , I'm not a big fan of avatar , I know it the profits from the movie were astronomically insane, but whatever the reason I think the hurt locker deserved it's Oscar

Tara

FINALLY!! More Robert Redford! Been waiting ever since The Sting with Paul Newman

Larry Darrell

I’m new to Trivia. Will it be on discord again?

Many of us have mentioned MOONSTRUCK to Cassie. Definitely on her radar.

Celeste McAllister

I am hereby a member of Mom's Against Daylight Savings (MADS)waking them up and it's still dark out,ahh the grumbling that ensues!!💗💙 ,"The Natural" looking forward to watching that, one movie out of three isn't bad..have to wait a little bit longer for The Deer Hunter..

Matt Rose

A Christmas movie suggestion: THE REF, from 1994. Howlingly funny. One of the best written black comedies ever.

Biggman83

I’m not sure why you people on the other side of then Atlantic struggle with daylight savings it’s essential here in the UK.

The Senate passed it unanimously. It's now stuck in the House. As I grow older these times changes are harder to adjust too. I don't care which we land on, I just wish the time changes would stop.

Adam Doyle

I am so bummed I will miss the trivia night... I feel i could have won and have many great suggestions, but it will have to wait until next time. I do hope to join on this Saturday. Stay warm and dry!

Todzilla

Trivia night is 11/9 @5PM PST?!?! This is great, I might not need to make an excuse to leave work. I'm still sure I'll score in the last 60s to 80s LOL. As I'm the biggest PiB fan that never watches her reactions LOLOL

Todzilla
>>95229983

Me neither. I actually like it. In the summer months you get more sunlight and in the winter months you get to wake up late.

Ike

Bless you. I already know that you work very hard on this channel, Patreon, plus kids!!! … but its encouraging to know you are listening, reading, and responding also (you’re one of the rare few that do).

Stick Figure Studios
>>95225173

Personally, I prefer THE NATURAL to it, so I'm fine with these results (though I wasn't too happy when MAJOR LEAGUE won the last one). Chances are pretty good it'll win the next one as it was the runner-up this time.

Matt Rose

And again: another call for KISS KISS, BANG BANG with Robert Downey Jr, Val Kilmer, and Michelle Monahan.

Odd Thomas

District 9 is a great film. Not sure it'll be Cassie's cup of tea though, but we'll see

Jon Johns

Yes Larry! The actual trivia game is hosted on a website, Cassie will be live on YouTube, and a lot of fun side chat on discord.

Mike LL
>>95227062

Yes, sorta. Chat is on Discord and where the link to trivia game will be shared and the link to watch Cassie live on YouTube is shared.

The Monday after last spring's time change, it took me until noon (about 6 1/2 hours after leaving for work) to realize my shirt was inside out and backwards. I HATE the stupid time changes.

Al Swearengen

Love Daylight savings time. Let's get rid of standard time (I thought Congress voted to do just that. Haven't heard anything about it since).

Brian McGovern

6pm MST? Dang it. That is midday in NSW and 9am WA time. Going to be working. I guess there is never going to be a suitable time to suit all corners of the globe.

Shehab Dawoud
>>95221296

Hello Mr. @Jon Johns. I know you hold some type of position on here since you're always patrolling and cracking down on me when I criticize other people's movie opinions. But are you going to say or do anything about Mr. William Bryan, who basically called me a terrorist a few days ago? I can refer you to the thread and the comments he made.

Tara

Does anyone have the link of the movies that have been requested for Cassie? She mentioned that someone created a link that had a list of the most to the least requested movies. Thank you in advance

Jeff Milcheck

Any chance Bull Durham will get the runner-up viewing treatment? I’d hate to have to wait until next baseball season for you to watch it.

Gábor Árki

Oh darn, this daylight saving tricked me good. 😃 Last week when I've seen the trivia schedule and converted it to CET it was 1am and I though okay, I can drop in at least to the beginning of the trivia night a bit. But now seeing this talk about daylight saving I checked again, and it is actually going to be 2am. This is so because here in Europe we have different dates to switch compared to the North America. This year we've switched back from summer time to regular on October 30, a week before. For a while I was very much in support of eliminating daylight saving time, but after reading about it I'm not so sure though. Here, sticking with the regular time through the year would mean there are weeks during the summer with a sunrise before 4am and sunset soon after 9pm. With summer time this changes to 5am and 10pm which is more compatible with everyday life. But keeping the summer time throughout winter would mean there will be weeks when sunrise is way after 8am and there will be effectively dark until after 9am in the mornings. One suggestion I've read actually proposes a different solution. Keeping the daylight saving change, but doing it differently. Scheduling the switch for long weekends and doing them on the first day of such a weekend. This could be managed in Europe by scheduling them around Easter and All Saints' Day, which are bank holidays in most of the continent. This would give the majority of people 3+ days to adapt while still adjusting the daylight hours to hours we usually spend awake.

Jamie van Brewen

Always love seeing your reactions, Cassie! I'm still holding out for The Outlaw Josie Wales.

Mike LL

I have done a little reading, and am no expert, but what I have read have the experts on the side of eliminating daylight savings time and having standard time year round. Changing times lead to disruption with your circadian rhythm, resulting in ill effects to your health. Earlier sunlight in cold regions means some sun on your icy roads before you have to go to work. As usual, our "very fine" representatives in Congress are getting this wrong.

Gábor Árki
>>95267219

I just wanted to point out that while eliminating DST will solve some issues, it will come with its own problems. Staying in standard time throughout the year would mean extremely early sunrise during the summer (even before 4am for a while in some places) but early evening darkness. Staying in daylight saving time throughout the year would fix this, but cause another problem of winter morning darkness (up until 9am for a while in some places).
