Did my heart stop beating out of my chest this whole time? NO! Did it rip my heart out? YES! Have I not been able to stop talking about it and bring it up in every conversation I have? Yes!

I am SO into this show, the storytelling is so far incredible, I love Pedro Pascal as Joel deeply and I can't wait to see what happens!

Eric Wallace

A 3 episode patreon drop! 🔥

Hankster

Did you finish Boba B4 Mando season 3?

William Bryan

Dang it Cassie you're dancing all around the Walking Dead. Yes there are about 16-20 episodes per season and there are 9 seasons but you'd get through eventually. Give you a lot of content for about five years and probably more patrons hence more income 🤑😉

Dave Hill

Looks like it's gonna be a Pedro day. Just got done with the 1st episode of Mando season 3 just in time for this! =)

Paul Spacone

I had the same reaction. I have zero interest in "zombie" movies or shows and actually advised you months ago that the genre wouldn't be something that you would enjoy. I love this show! I'm so glad you are watching it.

Jason Fulbright

You are outpacing me! I'm waiting for the season to finish before binge watching the whole thing. Now I will get to watch it for the first time with you! You just made my day and now I am even more excited to watch this series.

aarswft

3 episodes? What a gift.

Danny (Icarus)

This is going to be a fun and terrifying ride ! 😳

Andrew Ramos
>>103055907

A lot of people are down on TWD but I think there a many moments that make it worth it as a PiB reaction. I'd love to see it but the gore/violence might be rough on her.

Robin Craft

I'm happy that you're loving this! It's definitely an emotional rollercoaster... seven episodes in so far and I'm still not over what happened in THAT scene in episode one! 😢

Cole Jennett

Cool. Can’t wait to watch it with you!

Jason Dolan

I'm just sitting here waiting for the last 3 eps of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT so you can start The Mandalorian Season 3, lol

zynjams

in 2013 the last of us video game came out, Sarahs death was a major shocker then also. fast forward to to 2023 and Sarahs death still brings the tears

Kat Farlowe

I agree with you Cassie! I was hesitant to watch it at first because I am pretty tired of the whole zombie craze. But this show is very different and I just binged all the episodes to date. It tells stories within stories and you never know what is going to happen next. I loved Ep. 3 with Bill and Frank - just beautiful. And I especially like that our hero is flawed and insecure about his abilities, but is falling in love with Ellie little by little. Terrific show!

kaiielle

AHHHH can't wait to watchalong with you to these soon! So happy you're loving it.

Philip G.

Let me clear my schedule. Let's goo!

zynjams

Pedro said he loves Ellie more than Grogu

David Freese

I'm so glad that I was able to come back for this. I'm really enjoying the show and glad you're watching it. You reactions have definitely opened up a new world of entertainment for me.

David Freese
>>103058263

Hopefully she has time to finish this week. She said she'll really try to get it in.

Bob Bittner

I love this game (for me, Part 2 is an absolute masterpiece), and I’m so eager to see you watch the HBO version. It changes up some things from the game, but I think they were all brilliant choices that only improve this translation for TV. I’m kinda *surprised* you’re watching it, but I couldn’t be happier!

Bob Bittner
>>103060221

I love the game and have watched countless YouTube playthroughs, and it still gets me every time.

Hankster
>>103055872

I hope she doesn't miss the surprises Boba will give her by Mondo spoilers

OneManReactionFaction

The movie title is Curtis Viper 2 and I think it's just a fictitious title. I guess it's an Easter egg from The Last of Us video game.

Odd Thomas

Amazing games and amazing adaptation

Justin (CaptainProton)

So excited to watch this with you! I have yet to start this series since I am waiting for the final episodes to drop then binge the whole thing. It's amazing to see there has been such a great reaction to a video game adaptation like this. I've played both of the games more than once and they are absolutely incredible. Even with the creative liberties that are taken with the adaptation for TV I am sure the series (and your reactions) wont disappoint.

aarswft

Well I think we've got Best Jumpscare of 2023 in the bag already

Cody Nelson

Seeing you react to this series is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. :)

zynjams

Tess back story, her husband and son got infected, Tess killed her husband but could not bring herself to kill her son, so she locked him in a basement

Yaisu

Episode 5 is going to kill Cassie.

Greg Florez

Arguably the best show on tv right now. So happy you are watching this too. 👌🏽

Alex Gorell

Theoretically this is possible just extremely unlikely. The planet would have to warm significantly for the fungus to mutate, and if the planet did get that warm the possibility of said fungus would be the least of our problems.

Aaron Ritchie

I’m just worried that the show will outpace the games (like what happened with Game of Thrones outpacing the books). There’s only two games and I’m worried the quality of franchise will suffer by the time season three inevitably happens and they’re out of source material.

Riley

Just started watching your reaction... for what its worth 'cordyceps' is a whole genus of fungi that's lifecycle involves taking over its host before fruiting out of its skull (or various parts of it's body) to spore and reproduce. O.o "Truth is often stranger than fiction"!! Part of what makes the show (and game) so compelling is that this is potentially a possibility, a leap in evolution infecting its first host and then its over. Some argue that global warming alone could be enough to force fungus to need to evolve to live at more extreme heats (and then the temp of a human body). If I recall this is sorta the premise of the how it happened in the game too.

LightsCameraJake
>>103078456

The Last of U.S is only going to follow both games. They wont be doing more after that. Its a mini series with two seasons. That was said by the producers and show runners.

LightsCameraJake

The interesting thing is cordyceps is a real thing. Its only affecting ants though.

Ed Garland

Sooo happy you started this, and we get the 1st 3 episodes all at once! Thank you so much!! Pedro in full swing with this and Mando! 😊😊

zynjams
>>103073213

What spoiler, she is is passed the Tess story. The writers couldn’t fit it in. So they told the story after ep. 2

Riley

Also this series intro is pretty similar to the game (not exactly). Some of the framing of the scenes, like from the kid's perspective in the backseat while in the truck for example, SPOT ON!! Almost certain they did bomb Jakarta, whole island or something, but it didn't stop it from spreading (or it already had before they acted so it didn't help ultimately). 'FEDRA' not FEMA, as in federal government, or at least what is left of the nation-state formerly known as USA. Tess (Anna Torv) was in another show you should check out, "Fringe"! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1119644

rakesh
>>103055907

Imho it's too long of a commitment. Its viewership declined steeply over its run and its worth has been depleted by its various spinoffs. So much so that the movies are now revamped as TV specials. I believe viewership tends to be higher for recent shows, or shows playing now e.g The Mandalorian or the last of us. Simply because everyone is watching it now. TV shows with one or two seasons (like Firefly or Chernobyl) work, because they are few and finite.

rakesh
>>103073213

There was no need to say this. How do you know they wont revisit this in the futture? They do backstories all the time. Joel could easily recount the story for Ellie.

Justtired

Ok…I’ve mentioned before how I occasionally answer questions Cassie has during her reactions. During episode 3, when it looks like Bill may die from the gunshot, I said out loud “it’s going to be ok, hun” (forgive the term of endearment. I’m southern lol). One of my teenage sons walked in, raised his eyebrow like Dwayne Johnson and said “You do know she can’t hear you, right dad?” 😂

KMJ

There was a moment during the first episodes that I genuinely was worried that Cassie would suffer a stroke. I actually felt guilty for cheering her on when she wrote she was going to watch it. Thank you for a great reaction.

Rash Bandicoot

I had let my subscription lapse, but this got me back. Really looking forward to watching these with you. Thank you!

Timothy Roberts

At the beginning of ep 3 when you reached for the box of tissues, I said yep you will definitely need those for the ending.

aarswft
>>103065505

Part 2 is in my opinion masterful storytelling, but I'm really curious how they plan on doing it in a TV show. The flashbacks are crucial at shaping viewers understanding of how events unfolded but it's going to be tough to do that with a live action cast. Bella is currently too old and too young to do either versions of Ellie in part 2

Terry Yelmene

As all PiB fans know, Cassie is ALL heart, but all are just as aware she is ALL nervous system too. Given this, reacting to TLOU could have gone either way... but somehow I knew 'HEART' would win out. With that said, this SERIES DOES NOT GET EASIER! This series will likely be among most emotionally difficult and stressful PiB content reaction experiences Cassie has faced. But TLOU absolutely is as rewarding as it is difficult. I'll tell you 'why.' I'm not young (64), I have never gotten in to playing any video or commuter games of any kind - I don't like 'um. Also, I watched the first episode of 'The Walking Dead,' and was so put off, I never watched another. In fact, I've never held any interest in vampires, werewolves, or any wicked fantasy 'anything' including 'zombies' shows of any kind - ever! But I thank my lucky stars, that I found and have experienced 'The Last Of Us.' For me, TLOU is clearly a top 5 show of the last 10 years. It's not only the writing (as good as Handmaids/TLasso/Chernobyl-of course), nor the acting (as good as Orphan Black/Mr Robot/Succession), nor the production (as good as Band of Brothers/The Last Kingdom/The Wire)... as this TV series not only excels at all the table-stakes bases, but it's how TLOU adds an ocean more of real human, heartfelt emotion that makes it truly as special as anything else on TV. First thing.. I agree with everyone who understands this show IS NOT about zombies! (though infected are zombie-similar)... it's not about a dystopian infection apocalypse! (though the world has clearly come crashing down)... it's not even about a man and a girl on a journey of survival! (though our two main characters are - that)... TLOU is about 'LOVE,' about a 'LOVE For Living,' and about the human resilience this LOVE both demands and provides. Further, this incredible show almost uniquely articulates that 'love' is not always good... and very specifically, that 'parental love' is; primal, is both fearful and fearless, and is all-encompassing, to the point of violence. With this stated as my basic understanding... let's all experience TLOU.. And Cassie, just breathe, and let your amazing 'heart' shine through this experience.

Terry Yelmene
>>103073667

@Yaisu - Absolutely agree with you about Ep.5. I hope she makes it past 5. to Ep. 6 and Ep. 7 as those are all very, very challenging (for different reasons).

Richard Maurer
>>103073213

I've seen too many gamers do this in comments sections. Games are no different than movies/series as far as spoilers are concerned - If didn't happen in the show, don't talk about it.

Tara

Pedro better watch out… he’s gonna be typecast as a guy who picks up strays and takes care of them lol. I think you mentioned it when you were looking up Pedro’s age, but both he and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) where in Game of Thrones. I think she was around 10 or 11, but she played a badass in that show. I really liked Pedro’s character too.

Richard Maurer
>>103078175

Yeah, I was going to say pretty much the same thing - possible yes, likely no. A lot of different factors would have to happen in just the right way for this to be possible, but there are much more likely outcomes for any of those factors before things ever got to this stage - factors like climate change, as you mentioned.

Richard Maurer
>>103079319

And only specific species of ants are infected by specific species of cordyceps. So, for instance, it's unlikely that even chimpanzees could be infected by the species that infects humans. So that answers the 'why aren't other animals affected' question. Interesting side note: in order to infect birds the fungus would need to evolve much higher temperature resistance as birds normal body temps, range from 106 to109 degrees F.

Richard Maurer
>>103083874

I always say 'bless you' when a reactor sneezes and sometimes answer simple questions they ask before catching myself, so you are not alone.

Caomhan84

Didn't they film a lot of this in Alberta? Cassie should be happy about that.

Robert da Spruce

I haven’t watched the series yet either Cassie. So I’m watching for the first time along with you. I’m hooked as well! Looking forward to watching the next batch of episodes! P.S. you might want to hold on to Grogu to comfort you as watch. Because I have a feeling it’s gonna get tougher as the series progresses.

Nathan Steele
>>103105382

Yep Calgary doubles as Boston at least and I think the Alberta prairies double as the countryside in the other parts

Seth R

the level of quality and detail in this show makes this by far the best video game adaptation to date.

djKENTO

So the song we hear at the end of Episode 1 is the last song Bill put on the signal radio… “I’m taking a ride with my best friend…” So much more impactful when you rewatch.

Caomhan84

Okay, I finished all three episodes now (despite saying the other day that I wouldn't watch the show again with another reactor). I will add my voice to the people who say you might want to enlist Grogu for hugging support in the coming weeks. I'm a massive fan of the first game, and there are things that the show does wonderfully, there are things that I wish the show did better or a few things to show could spotlight more, but overall this is a wonderful adaptation. My "game fan nitpicks" are small, and I'm glad the show has captured such a large audience.

Lawrence Adams

I think Pedro cornered the market on dad figure escorting a child. Looking forward to you continuing this journey...and perhaps in future, Mandalorian season 3.

G

So far. Great reaction to a great series.

Tonio

Ooof!

Marty McGee
>>103078175

Even if it did mutate to infect humans, it most likely wouldn't go like this. Turned into a puppet in less than 24 hours? Even in the ants it takes weeks to get to that point. Also, while the doctor used the true ant example to describe the infection, one of the fictional things is that there are no anti-fungal treatments or medicines. There's a fascinating video from a few years ago on YT explaining how cordyceps infects the ant. What's even more fascinating is that it goes into how other fungi may already be infecting our brains. With less dramatic results than the show of course, but still very interesting. I think it was from National Geographic.

Marty McGee

Surprised you're watching this, but glad you are. It's intense, but worth it. Just like other shows you've watched like Band of Brothers and Chernobyl. Only difference here is this is not based on true events. No matter what that doctor said in the beginning.

kaiielle
>>103105382

Almost all of it (everything except a handful of cinematic shots in Ep 4) was filmed in AB! It's Canada's largest TV show production ever.

Riggo 82

The Walking Dead 2.0? That's what it seems like. Please Hollywood? Can we put the zombie apocalypse shows/films to bed for a while?

David Guin

I'll be with you every minute of the way <3

Mike Lemon
>>103138030

I want them to make Jam (by Yahtzee Croshaw) then they can be done. It would be a great 10 episode show.

Joon S
>>103055907

Agreed, if she was gonna commit to a long-running show there are at least 100 better (and shorter) shows to consider first. But short-running shows, a few seasons tops, seem best. A lot of people just aren't going to be interested in a given show, and that many seasons is too much content to commit to something a lot of people, even patrons, aren't going to watch.

William Bryan
>>103055907

Well you guys are no fun. I'm very picky about my TV. To me the only decent shows there have been since Frasier left the air twenty years ago are The Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, Gotham, and Cobra Kai.

David Freese
>>103105382

Hi. Kaiielle. Do you have any numbers for what they spent on the series? I ld like to compare it to how much they spent on Battlestar Galactica. It was completely shot in Vancouver.

rakesh
>>103055907

Justified, Utopia, (UK version), Person Of Interest. Altered Carbon S1, Banshee, Constantine, Swamp Thing, Counterpart, Daredevil, Community, Doom Patrol, House, Lodge 49, Mr Inbetween, Mr Robot, Penny Dreadful, Rome, The Boys, The IT Crowd, The Leftovers, The Magicians, Yellow Jackets, Yellowstone, Fringe, Star Trek Strange New Worlds. Should get you up to speed. You're Welcome.

William Bryan
>>103055907

No thanks. I'll stick with The Real Ghostbusters, 90s Nickelodeon, Seinfeld, Frasier, and The Andy Griffith Show lol

Biggman83
>>103138030

This is much more than just a Zombie Show. It has so many layers, the zombies are almost a secondary story point

David Freese
>>103105382

Never mind I looked it up and wow it generated 200m for local economy. That's a really good total for a series.

kaiielle
>>103138030

I'll be that person that comments that they're not technically zombies. The humans are all still alive, they've just had their minds and motor functions taken over by the Cordyceps fungus, which is a real thing in our world today that happens in ants. The Infected are not the focus of the story, simply just something that the rest of humanity has to be aware of and avoid. In both of The Last of Us video games, they are one of many "enemies" to fight and kill. And the story goes so much deeper! 😊

kaiielle

I stayed up til almost 4 am watching these three episodes last night and it was not only such a joy to revisit them alongside you Cassie, but I loved that you got invested in the story and characters despite your feelings about the Infected and the situation everyone is in. Really looking forward to seeing your thoughts and feelings about the next episodes! Thank you.

Seth R

Such a great show, glad you stuck with it. brace yourself for the next episodes, infected aren’t the scariest thing out there.

Robert da Spruce

In case you’re interested Cassie, here’s the Cordyceps fungus that the story is based on. Except in the show, the fungus has mutated so it can survive in human hosts. https://youtu.be/XuKjBIBBAL8

Timothy Roberts

Since I didn't want to rewatch these so soon, I just watched 3-1/2 hours of you reacting. Now that was entertaining. Thanks Cassie!

Andrew Ramos
>>103180138

I'm not a fan of the video games and think the show so far is ok but even I know you are throwing out spoilers....why?

Jason Schuler
>>103180138

This is a malicious comment spoiling future seasons and maligning a fantastic actress. You should be ashamed of yourself, but we both know you’re incapable of feeling shame. And for the record, I LOVE The Last of Us Part II, so you can shove it.

M&M

CASSIE CASSIE CASSIE please be careful, I’ve read spoilers in this comment section!!!

Andrew Rose

Don't know why anyone would be so assinine as to put spoilers in the reaction comments for a tv series but there we go.... smh

M&M
>>103180138

Dude why are you even here? All you’re doing is spreading negativity and spoiling the show!!! What is wrong with you? You should delete this before she sees it, she’s really enjoying the show and doesn’t deserve to have it ruined by you

'Pappy' Johnston

First NO SPOILERS IN MY COMMENT! I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SPOIL THINGS FOR OTHERS! NOW THEN, MOVING ON. Like I've said before, as a fellow super-fan of the game and someone who's played it a dozen times or more, I think they're doing a great job sticking to the source material and augmenting it in good places to build on the story. I was right there with you, puddling up the whole time, at the sad stuff. I will point out that there's extra material, in the form of interviews with the director and such, after the credits, about that particular episode. I know the infected are scary but, stay strong Cassie! 🤣😂🤣😂 Can't wait to watch the rest of the series and enjoy your heartfelt reactions. Hey, don't I remembered you and Carly commenting in one of the other videos, (Goldfinger I think), that you guys used to play PlayStation games! THIS game is PlayStation exclusive, so after you watch the series, you should play the game! 👍🏻🙂😁

POSTALMNDCLARITY

I cant even tell you how many times I have seen this episode now. I've watched countless reactions and have cried so many times. I eventually got to the point where I wouldnt cry anymore because I could basically recite the entire thing. However, your reaction broke me like this episode did when I saw it for the first time. Thank you. <3 I also think Bill and Frank won the apocolypse. I mean they had 16 beautiful years together. I would be willing to be they lived better together in the apocolypse than most do even without one. This was the best love story and episode of TV I think I've seen in a very long time, if ever.

POSTALMNDCLARITY
>>103138030

This show blows TWD out of the water, in my opinion. Also, like kaiielle said, this isnt a zombie show. If thats all you see it as, you're missing the point entirely.

POSTALMNDCLARITY
>>103073667

Even saying this is a spoiler. Dont give her any ideas of what to expect. Let her go in blind, and have no expectations or preconceived notions of how the episode will go or end.

Eric Wallace

They killed the little boy in the first episode becauad he was infected and joel through his body on the burn pit. That's why they showed his shoes

Foggy

Be very, very careful looking things up when it pertains to this show. It's based on a video game, and unfortunately, as evident by some of these comments, people love to spoil what happens. I know that's a thing in general but it seems like especially with this game, people can be so malicious with spoilers. I'm excited for you to continue this journey, keep tissues on hand. Also, this isn't really a jumpscare kinda show but they do love to build the suspense. You'll be okay lol Edit: just wanted to add that the day after the third episode dropped, everyone was crying so much on twitter about how sad it was and the creators of the show said, "What do you mean? This was the happy episode." 😭

aarswft
>>103194124

Because it was. Two people getting to live a full life together during an apocalypse where few got that privilege. and were able to go out on their own terms, and ending with Joel getting the push he needed to go forward. Happy Episode.

Ronny Boss

I was hoping you would watch this. Can't wait to see how y'all edit this for the YT reaction

Kai

This is so rad. I'm glad the third episode won you over. Thank you for watching this for us. I'm excited to see you see the rest.

Foggy
>>103194124

Lol relax, no need to explain it to me. I’ve been here since the beginning, I know the deal.

Richard Maurer
>>103083874

So this is either completely normal or a lot of us are losing our minds, not sure which is true.

Richard Maurer

I was afraid there'd be a problem with spoilers here, as there has been in other comments sections and other sites. And obviously the spoilers are coming from the gaming community. Gamers - we non-gamers get it, this was yours before the non-gamers jumped on board. But that doesn't give you the right to spoil it for non-gamers. And I know, it's not all gamers who are doing this, but to the ones who aren't, you know that some are, and some are even doing it intentionally. I've had a couple of gamers tell me that some in the gaming community don't like it that non-gamers are watching the show and are putting out spoilers on purpose. If you reading this happen to be the kind person who does this - just stop, you're acting like a child. Non-gamers will continue to watch this show and putting out spoilers won't stop them, it just makes you look like a creep.

My_Cousin_Mose
>>103055907

I think at this point Cassie has realized that more views brings more income. Luckily for us she doesn't pick stuff to watch for that reason only. I can support watching reruns of Frasier and Seinfeld though. That was top tier tv.

My_Cousin_Mose
>>103177971

Don't worry Collar City Guy I'm sure theres a lab somewhere they're working on how to prevent this from ever happening...

LuMarq
>>103227977

They're basically gate-keeping storytelling in general at this point which is ludicrous.

Richard Rolen

This is a hard series to watch, with a lot of inevitable heartbreak, but it's been very rewarding so far. Glad you're taking this risk for us and with us!

SeanATX

Cassie, your reactions are so genuine, sweet, and fun. Thank you for what you do

Jones
>>103055907

Why even comment this? Let her enjoy what she wants to watch. And judging by the shows you listed, you objectively have poor & generic taste.

John Courtright

What a treat to watch every minute of these three episodes with you Cassie! I laughed and cried along with you. So glad you're reacting to this series!

G
>>103138030

@Mike Lemon The Blob (The Strawberry Flavor) 😊

Terdell Ferguson

I'm so glad and excited to see you viewing this one. As a gamer, this is easily one of my top 5 games of all time and the storytelling is nothing short of fantastic. As a series, it hits all the right beats even with the divergent parts and loses none of the heart of the story. Instead, it does a tremendous job of encapsulating the feel of the story. Hopefully, this series will continue to exhibit the story and characters which have made the game so well loved by so many.

Rick Williams

Cassie, Cassie, Cassie. What have you got us into? These type of series are tough. They love to give you characters to get invested in and then rip your heart out. But, it was fun watching it with you.

Andy Bodkin

I never cry in movies, literally never. but episode 3 broke me. During their "last day" I ugly cried for a solid 15 minutes. My girlfriend had to pause it so I could leave the room until I stopped crying. Episode 3 is one of the best pieces of TV I think I've ever watched.

Richard Maurer
>>103055907

@ My_Cousin_Mose - I would think every reactor realizes more views = more income from the start. I doubt if any reactor got into it just for the fun of it, despite what many reactor patrons seem to believe. And by the way, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that - most people could use more money

Patrick Toscano

The Patrick Dempsey movie you were thinking about was Outbreak.

Jayson Phillips

LOL you should be watching this with your sister lol it would have been gold!

Clay F

Great reaction
