Well that wraps up disaster week and I don't think I could have taken another one! This was maybe a bit less "real" to me than the others? But still very traumatic and edge of your bed!! I fell hard for Pierce Brosnanman in this for sure!

time to cleanse the palate with to sir with love, the goodbye girl, Hudson Hawk or RED

christopher b swanson

1999 thomas crown affair.................for you both to watch....... Brosnan during his bond run as a hot rich art thief............. perfect for you ladies.............check out trailer

djKENTO

still processing?! NOOOOOOO. I literally just made popcorn and sat down to watch it… WELL SUGAR BISCUITS! that’s a boondoggle

Daniel Fuchs

I wanted to watch the video several times, but had to realize that thirty minutes after uploading it, Youtube still gave the indication that this video was still being edited.

Shawn Kildal

Yes. It's up and running now!

Wesley White

Pierce Brosnanman?............ LOL🤣🤣🤣 that is probably the funniest mistype I've ever seen, it's Pierce Brosnan lol! Sorry to say, but the disaster genre of movies isn't exactly my cup of tea, with the exception of Armageddon and Volcano! Just doesn't really appeal to me that much! Hope you and Carly enjoyed this movie though, I admit it is a bit underrated! Sorry I haven't sent you the video clip I made for you at Universal yet, my hands have been tied up no thanks to work! However, I assure you that you'll get it by Wednesday, I promise! I'm a man of my word when I make a promise! I recently watched your full lengths of The Patriot, Glory, and Saving Private Ryan thus far, got to get in the spirit for 4th of July lol! Take care Cassie, see you at the next YT edit premiere hopefully! Much love and support, you and Carly are the best, and as always [snaps fingers & wink] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉👍🌹

Mike LL

Just about 19 minutes in, in the hot springs scene, those were some of the most epic "Oh my goshes!" we've ever had on the channel. Can't wait to watch the rest of it if the beginning is so good!

Ben Livingstone

This traumatized me as a kid. I was supposed to be going to sleep, and I was jealous that my parents were staying up to watch a movie, so I went out and joined them. They happened to be watching this. I was happy to go back to bed.

rakesh

Kinda funny that both Pierce and Linda Hamilton haven't really set the movie world on fire apart from their respective movie franchises. Yet here they are both propping up this movie. Linda hasn't had a movie hit away from the Terminator franchise. Likewise, Brosnanman is a solid actor but apart from The Bond Movies (Hopefully Cassie will revisit Pierce's Bond with the world is not enough) hasn't really made a hit as the lead. Interesting support roles and cameos in The Long Good Friday, Mamma Mia, Mrs Doubtfire, The World's End, Mars Attacks and Black Adam, but nothing meaty. I remember watching both Dantes Peak and Volcano around the same time. Decent enough if you wanted to kill 2 hours, but nothing particularly noteworthy or recommendable. Surprised this outvoted the Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure, vox populi, vox Dei.

Shawn Kildal

Another great reaction! Surprised though no one recognized Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) from the Terminator movies.

Shawn Kildal

We need an OMG counter on this one. We might have a new record!

Brian McGovern

The guy who played Greg ( the guy who LURVED) his coffee, was one of Harry Taster’s team in True Lies. His name is Grant Heslov. He has gone on to form a partnership of sorts with George Clooney, having co writing a few of his movies as well as producing. Corridor Crew did a video showing how they did some of the FX for this movie in their most recent YT video that came out this weekend just gone. Quite interesting seeing how they did the mudslide effects and taking out the bridge.

David Bennett

a few of the other commenters have mentioned Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, but you have seen at least one of the other actors recently too: Grant Heslov, the middle eastern fellar who played Greg in THIS film also appeared in True Lies as Faisil, the young hacker dude on Harry and Gibbs team. Really enjoyed ya'alls reaction to this one! my favorite volcanic disaster flick (so far). The pompeii film with Jon Snow in it is pretty good too.....

Odd Thomas

I saw this at the cinema and while it was fun, the special effects were definitely the star. The script lets it down. It's Jaws but with a volcano, even down to the mayor who won't listen. Mildly better than Volcano; again, good effects, bad script.

Shawn Kildal

Perhaps a screwball comedy week to help recover from the high intensity of this week??

James1035

I’ve always been entertained by this movie. The special effects were really good.

JL_83

although I prefer Volcano over this one, it was still pretty good

Robin Craft

Has anyone here seen "The Foreigner"? Pierce Brosman plays opposite Jackie Chan in a suspense/action film. I'm not necessarily suggesting it for the channel but I thought Brosman was quite good as a former IRA leader. Entertaining movie imo.

Terry Yelmene

Cassie: "I didn't know geologist was such a dangerous job." Funny, that's what she said yesterday about fishermen!

Zane From Canada

"That, is a pyroclastic cloud." 😯 That scene still gives chills. Pretty damn good effects for 1997. The pyroclastic cloud/flow/discharge is the real killer of a volcano. Super heated gases and volcanic matter at 2,000 (°F) moving at 60 mph to as much as 450 mph. Destroys everything in its path. If you're caught in its path, you're gone. You'd be lucky to escape with second degree burns.

Robin Craft
>>111533115

I think the ladies would enjoy that film. Brosman and Rene Russo had good chemistry.

Russell Teo

Probably the last movie both of em had & will make. Terrible crap. That’s how both Brosnan & Hamilton destroyed their short careers. I rather suffer the insufferable long runtime, narrow screen, black-white Kurosawa’s Star Wars inspiring duo, or Hitchcock’s Thriller, or Leone’s Dollar$ trilogy week. How about South Asian Bollywood & Kollywood? Amir Khan awe-inspiring Lagaan, and more recent Bahubali Ramayana-inspired epic will bring you to places you never tot existed. If you are watching Bahubali, make sure it’s the original Telegu version, which the oldest still spoken language in the world, which trying to stay true to its Sanskrit roots

Katie Jackson

How about a Rom Com Palette Cleanse for a Cassie pick. I'd recommend. *America's Sweethearts. *The Wedding Date. *One Fine Day. *Fools Rush In. *Nine Months

Robert da Spruce

I think it’s time for nice romantic comedy Cassie! 😉 Haven’t seen this movie in a long time. So I’m looking forward to watching along with you. Have a great day Cassie!

Björn Karlsson
>>111543738

It's time for a bunch of non-english movies from Europe 😊 The one I love + a few more 🤩

MertzRocks

Wow, I forgot Linda Hamilton was in this mediocre mess (edit: a bit better than a mediocre mess lol). Now 25 years later she is a "bad guy", guest starring in a fairly new show, It stars our favorite leafy pilot from the best show ever. I / We must have told you about this show ONCE...

Andrew Roach

Perhaps react to The Room or Birdemic, now those are disaster movies, or movie disasters.

Russell Teo
>>111543738

Agree. Swede, Italian, French, British noir-romcom & psycho-crime-thrillers. And if you really want to venture further, how bout painstakingly 4K restored genre-defining Wuxia-tales from Taiwanese great Hu King, who made Touch of Zen & Dragon Inn, followed a great movie which these 2 movie had inspired, a more recent Lee Ang’s Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, starring Michelle Yeoh? What about Indonesian The Raid, which is made by Gareth Evans, peppered with Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda great OST, and followed by Karl Uban’s Dredd, which is inspired by The Raid? What about more recent very popular erotic-Korean cinema The Maid, The Handmaiden and thriller Parasite? Cassie & Carly, seriously when you guys are starting to watch 1990s crap disaster movie, it’s time to move away from Hollywood

Björn Karlsson
>>111543738

There are like eight non-english movies from Europe on top 1000 on popcorn request. 3 swedish, 4 german and one italian (I think). That's not much 😔

Russell Teo
>>111543738

Agree. Cassie can do a romcom Crazy Rich Asian to prepare herself for Das Boot

David Collins

I was shocked I tell you, shocked you never recognized the Mom/Mayor as Sarah Connor from Terminator. I thought sure you were going to make the connection at the start when you guys thought she seemed familiar. Then on with the show! Average movie, good effects, great reaction!

MatthewBrown74m

My father worked on this film as camera man when we first saw it theaters I was too scared of it especially when your 9 lol

MatthewBrown74m

I know its not 100% geological wise but pretty close as the expert say lol

Björn Karlsson
>>111543738

She can never prepare herself for Lilya 4-ever. Thats the toughest, most disturbing, saddest and most depressing film I've ever seen. It's still a very importent movie that shows us what happens in the shadows of our society. The whole movie is a bitchslap.... with an excavator.

Yaisu

Whatever you do, don't look up yellowstone. It's on top of a nice super volcano.

Stick Figure Studios

Actually saw this one in the theater. Not a great film by any means, but I enjoyed it. Good special effects at the time. An above average entry into the glut of disaster movies that filled the 90s. As a Bond nerd, I was always amused that Pierce's character's name was Harry Dalton. :-)

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Linda Hamilton (female lead) was in Terminator 2 and the latest Terminator. Actually Mt. Saint Helens in Washington is the most dangerous in the Continental United States, (most likely to erupt)

Roger Wayne Alms

A generator is a good idea. I loved your reactions to all these movies. We live near one of the largest fault lines in North America called the New Madrid, MO fault. Not a volcano, but a disaster waiting to happen. I took a Geology course at the local community college a couple of years ago. It is really fascinating to learn about the Earth, the rock cycle, how water is stored underground, and the relationship between all the systems that make up our Earth. Pyroclastic flow is a mixture of hot gases, rocks, and debris that travels at least 50 miles per hour down the volcano and outward from the eruption. The temperature is over 1000 degrees Celsius and can reach up to 700 km/hr.

Timothy Burrows

`The addition of Carly is always welcome. This movie is definitely one of my guilty pleasures.

Powers209

For insulation. Take a cold shower at first. Lather up the area and halfway thru start warming up the water. Don't let the water become hot. For people that have sensitive skin, you might need a few showers.

MertzRocks
>>111536026

Linda Hamilton is guest starring in Alan Tudyk's show Resident Alien right now.... as a "bad guy"! :o (and it's a funny show!)

MertzRocks
>>111538847

I hope you aren't saying the script for JAWS was bad... (I love making fun of Mayor Vaughn...!)

Mike LL
>>111539077

I agree completely. This movie thoroughly entertains. For those denigrating this movie, I don't know what they are looking for. As far as a volcano threatening a family and destroying a town, the movie completely delivers, as does the excellent sisters' reaction. Couldn't ask for more.

James Moy

I find it interesting that you found this "less real" as broadly speaking the science in this film was relatively close to reality unlikely most disaster movies.

Mike LL

As far as Disaster Days, I thought the order of watch of the movies was perfect. Deep Impact followed by the downer ending of The Perfect Storm, finishing with the triumphant ending of Dante's Peak with an actual core group of survivors that you most cared about in the movie. A week ending with The Perfect Storm would have devastated Cassie. No, I take that back. The order of watch was perfect because she had just seen two disaster movie where she had seen many characters she cared about die, and so in Dante's Peak she was left wondering if the same thing was going to happen. Just perfect. Bring on a few comedies!

Katie Jackson
>>111543782

Talk Cassie into it. It didn't feel like we got much for Valentines Day. I'd love to see you guys react to any of these.

MertzRocks

Loved your reaction, and this movie isn't as bad as I thought I remembered. Mauna Loa in Hawaii is the largest STRATOvolcano on Earth, meaning the common mountain-type volcano. However, there are at least four SUPERvolcanoes around the globe that have erupted within the last 2 million years and two are in the United States (plus a third that erupted MORE than 2 million years ago). Yellowstone Park is within a huge volcanic caldera which shows signs of awakening but since the science is not exact, there is no predicting when it will erupt (but it will, probably before any of the others). Long Valley in eastern California is the other one (and the one that hasn't erupted in more than 2M years is in Utah). There are lots of regulars volcanoes active right now, including Kilauea in Hawaii and some around the world that have been dormant a long time. There is definitely fear-mongering hype about a lot of this stuff right now (as well as outer space stuff) but I wouldn't worry... yet. Just be aware. Do your own research and you'll see what's concerning and what isn't. Sorry if I sound like more fear-mongering. Not my intent.

Steve Arnold

Oh my gosh! I love your reactions so much! BTW: Did anyone count how many times Cassie and Carly said „Oh my gosh!“ in this video?

Andrew Hogan

This is a fun little movie. I’d like to throw After the Sunset into the romantic comedy respite week along with Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.

MatthewBrown74m
>>111551156

Yes he did he said he was a very nice guy :) Linda Hamilton was very sweet too she give you hug right away 🤗

Philip Herman

Dante’s Peak was inspired by the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. Not to scare you too much but you’re living a state away from the Yellowstone Caldera which could be a planet changing event if it ever erupts again.

Bubba Fett

That one coffee order, decaf nonfat no sugar, why does she hate life 🤣

Reed James

I live in sight of Mount Rainier. We volcano evacuation routes here. You have to get out of the valleys fast if ever blows.

Reed James
>>111542394

Then there's the massive flooding from those big glaicers that will destroy everything in the river valleys all the way to the sea.

Mike LL
>>111543782

Well maybe inviting Carly Popcorn to watch Romancing the Stone would be a good idea!

Art of Free Speech

When you guys said they needed to have a scene with them deep sea fishing, I had to laugh. Didn't we just see Perfect Storm? Could you imagine a series with this family? After Dante's Peak, they have another movie where they go deep sea fishing, only to get caught in a hurricane while out at sea, after which they vow to move to California to get away from hurricanes, and in the next movie they're in California and there's an earthquake! We could then move them to Thailand and put them in the middle of a Tsunami! 🤣🤣🤣

Katie Jackson
>>111543782

I'm glad I found a few you haven't seen. I looked over your Letterbox and suggestion page pretty close for these. America's Sweethearts has Julia Roberts, John Cusack, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Billy Crystal in it! Fools Rush In is Matthew Perry and Selma Hayek. One Fine Day is Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney. Nine Months is Hugh Grant, Julianne Moore, Jeff Goldblum and the amazing Robin Williams. I think you and Carly would love any of these if you decide to watch them.

Alex Villarreal

What a great reaction: jump scares, thrills and even tears. Every decade has its disaster movies, but the ‘90s disaster flicks had a distinct tone that I love. OUTBREAK is another ‘90s movie that would make a good reaction.

Alex Villarreal
>>111540234

Yes! Very good thriller. And that’s also Martin Campbell, director of CASINO ROYALE and GOLDENEYE.

Andy Bodkin

I saw this movie in theaters when I was like 8 with my parents. It scared the heck out of me. I was scared for months that a volcano would kill us all hahaha.

AGBmom

If you ever do disaster again you should check out The Impossible. So good

Rick Williams

Great movie. Great Reaction. The action just keeps going. That was fun. We need three more disaster movie. 😁

Kat Farlowe

Loved your reactions! OMGosh! OMGosh! OMGosh! For what many call a "mediocre movie', it sure has all the disaster bells and whistles. I think Brosnan(aman) 🤪 and Hamilton had great chemistry and make the most with the script that they had. Both are very good and the special effects are awesome. The crater scenes were actually filmed at Mount Saint Helens. I am a disaster film geek and I think this is much better than Volcano. Now you need to watch the grandaddy of disaster films The Posiden Adventure and then The Towering Inferno. Over the top cheesy dialogue and peril at every turn! What fun! Greenland is also a very good end of the world disaster film. It's almost Rom Com adventure time! 4 days until Romancing the Stone!!!!! ❤️‍🔥🤠💋🇪🇨 📚💥⛵️🌴 Woo hoo! You are on my calendar!

Shawn Kildal
>>111574128

She's actually seen Outbreak. You are right though, it would have been a good reaction movie

Tinkerbell

It’s funny you say this didn’t feel as real-this movie is actually pretty scientifically accurate. They took a lot of information from the 1980 eruption of St Helens. The 2 major inaccuracies are that composite strato volcanoes typically don’t have lava flows and volcanic eruptions don’t typically cause earthquakes over a 5.0. For those of us who live in the Pacific Northwest this movie hits pretty close to home-we live close to Mt Rainier which is one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. We constantly live marveling at its beauty while crossing our fingers that it just keeps sleeping for decades to come. You asked in the intro if you can hike volcanoes. I recommend visiting Mount Rainier for excellent trails and Mt St Helens. At Mt St Helens, you can even hike through Ape Cave which is an old lava tube from a past eruption. It’s the longest lava tube in the US and is very cool. Both mountains are gorgeous and a lot of fun to go visit. They have let the area around St Helens recover without interference, so the park service not only has great information on the eruption, but also on everything they have learned since. If you come, make sure you pick a clear day for St Helens so you can see it-she likes to hide, even if you are super close.

Björn Karlsson

Speak about not being accurate 😄😄 Me and my friends noticed something in this movie back in the days. When they are in the boat and the water turns into acid and melts the boat. The water cooled engine works just fine 😅😅😅

Mike LL
>>111581914

I really don't understand some of the comments on Dante's Peak. And we also have (in my mind) a lot of mediocre action pictures lately that are praised to high heaven! That we missed both The Poseidon Adventure AND The Towering Inferno during Disaster Days seemed like a big missed opportunity in my book!

Rick Williams
>>111546000

A coming of age movie is the same as a Rom-com? Is it teenagers discovering love? Coming of age is out of my area expertise. I just learned Rom-com was a thing when I came to this channel. I'm learning about all kinds of new movie genres.

Rick Williams
>>111543738

There are a 1000 movies on Popcorn requests? That's a lot. That would take Cassie years to watch that many.

Pickupthepieces76

I recently visited Pompeii (certainly not a fairytale 🤣). It was very impressive. Pompeii: The Last Day is a good dramatized documentary about that for people interested. It's very surreal to think about. At least we know what a volcano is and what can happen (well the gist of it anyway). Those people couldn't comprehend what was even happening. A scary thought.

Blake Evans

I watched this movie so often as a kid, I wore out the VHS tape.

Art of Free Speech
>>111586987

I was thinking the exact same thing when she said "not realistic." LOTS of this was taken from the Mt. St. Helens eruption, from the time it takes for a pyroclastic cloud to make it to the bottom, to the total destruction wrought by the pyroclastic flows, right down to the USGS losing one of their scientists in the blast. Kind of made me tilt my head when she said that.

Aaron Ritchie

Great reaction! I love this movie. Also to answer your question at the end, Mount Fuji IS a volcano in Japan, that is still considered active, although it has not erupted since the 1700s. I did a hike to the summit and around the crater back in 2014 as part of a tour group.

Ted Little

Roger Donaldson, the director actually studied to be a geologist but I do not think this movie is actually about the volcano. The mountain provides the threat but, like all good disaster movies, the story is really about the people.

Robert da Spruce

I know I shouldn’t laugh, but you did your ab workout on fiberglass insulation? 😂 I’m itchy just thinking about! I hope you’re OK Cass! As far as the movie goes, Great reaction ladies! Wow! This movie! Whatever type of fear you may have, this movie has something for you! 😀 I’m sure someone has mentioned in the comments already, but I can’t believe you didn’t recognize Sarah Connor! You guys definitely deserve a respite from all the disasters. Looking forward to this week’s announcement!

Ry Jo

when it comes to volcanoes in Utah and surrounding places... north and north west you got the cascades... lots of big volcanoes, St. Helen's, baker , Rainer, glacier peak (way up north near Canada ) from Utah head south to NM and you got lots of old volcanoes all of them you can go and walk into... plus in NM you got the villas caldera (a smaller yellow stone) I took a volcano course from UNM and got to take gas samples from it... of course yellow stone itself as well in Wyoming/ Montana. come to NM! you can see lots of old volcanoes and Ice caves ! old volcanoes all over the state! plus we got great food in NM!

Singing Wordwright
>>111581914

I've really never understood why it's considered mediocre. It's hailed by scientists as being mostly accurate in its portrayal of what can happen when a volcano blows. There are a few clunky lines, yes, but really, besides that, it hits ALL the right notes. Starting from the opening credits (when Cassie was talking) where there is a volcano shown mid-screen, and slowly being zoomed in on while the music builds, so you think that is where the eruption will come from, but instead it comes from a mountain way in the front of that one, almost off-screen, that you weren't even paying attention to because you were focused on the one that was clearly visible. That was the moment I knew I was in for a good ride. Cassie, while this movie wasn't based on a true story, per se, a lot of it took its cues from Mt. St. Helens. Ruth, for example, was sort of modeled after a man named Harry Truman (yes, like the president) who had a cabin up on Mt. St. Helens and refused to evacuate. He ended up dying buried under something like 40 feet of ashfall. The flooding, in particular, was a major issue with Mt. St. Helens, because in that case, the entire side of the mountain slid down into a lake and flooding washed out bridges even over Interstate 5. Also, the notion of scientists dying because they wait too long to evacuate? Yeah, that happens. The Johnston Observatory, which is a park near Mt. St. Helens, is named after a scientist who was camped out there watching to give advance alert if the volcano began to erupt. He was killed in the landslide after sending a radio message saying, "This is it! This is it!" (I'm from Portland, Mt. St. Helens lore is big around here. The Johnston Observatory has an amazing film about the eruption, including Johnston's last radio message.)

Singing Wordwright

A couple more comedic suggestions: Ruthless People, and Junior. Not quite rom-coms, but funny nonetheless.

SeanATX

I prefer VOLCANO when it comes to volcano movies

Singing Wordwright
>>111567430

It's been a couple decades or so since I watched a documentary on the Yellowstone supervolcano, but if I recall correctly, geological clues indicate that it erupts at semi-regular intervals (say, every 100,000 years, though I'm not sure that's the exact interval) and that the last time it erupted was roughly Whatever-Interval years ago, Particularly haunting was the fact that the lake depth seemed to be changing because the magma chamber was pushing the ground underneath the caldera up.

Shawn Kildal
>>111532856

2 big thumbs up for the Goodbye Girl, but we'll have to disagree on Hudson Hawk. Yikes. I remember an interview Bruce Willis admitting his scriptwriting wasn't very good and as a result never would do it again.

Cole Jennett
>>111543782

Fools Rush In is one of my favourites and quite high on my request list. Nine Months is also very funny!

Adrian

If you want to fall harder, I still recommend the Thomas Crown Affair.

Shawn Kildal
>>111538999

I was hoping for Bringing up Baby, City Lights, It Happened One Night, or Raising Arizona

Chris Bordeman

Empire of the Sun pleaasse! It's Spielberg's masterpiece! And it stars a young Christian Bale in his first role!

Philip Alan

This one was a good one! Great reaction, ladies!

Being from Corvallis myself (which is about 90 minutes south of Portland), I'm also very familiar with Mt. St. Helens lore (my wife even interned for a museum in Government Camp one summer before we were engaged). Always nice to meet another Oregonian. :-)

Linda Hamilton was the lead in a very popular TV show called Beauty and the Beast for several years in the late 80s. George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) was a writer and producer. It became a cult classic. They did a reboot in 2012 but I don’t think it was very successful.

Gideon James

Please fix your audio. Your noise cancelation makes it's hard to understand what you are saying. Thanks

First, I Recommend again No Escape (2015). Every Parent should see this Film. Second, I left a pretty good list of those Opposite Movies, in the comments for Overboard and The Departed. ;-)

If you like Pierce Brosnan then I would recommend November Man. He may be older but he still brings it!

DM DC

This movie was inspired by a real life event. The erruption of Mount St Helens that occurred in 1980.

Butt Head

Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton had great chemistry

You guys should watch Everest!! Not a natural disaster but same idea lol
