Yeah baby yeah! Omg this was actually a pretty good time. It was so silly, stupid, cringe, funny and quotable, although I think I missed the acceptable quotable period of time! I actually loved the parts I could pick out of them spoofing Bond! Hope you enjoy!

Sharks with frickin lasers!

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Love when I get these notifications at work, I get to watch a comedy with PiB when I get home! I actually like the sequel even more (third not so much, but it's okay). Hey, have you seen Wayne's World's yet?

Zane From Canada

"Kiss me." "No I can't, darling." "Why not?" "Cause your drunk, it's not right." I never fully understood the gravity of that scene when I was a kid. I was too focused on the funny stuff. Now, it's quite noble to see the most sexed up international man of mystery understand consent. Do give the sequels a watch in the future. They're funny. 😁

Robert da Spruce

Glad you enjoyed it Cassie! Looking forward to watching your reaction later! Yeah baby! 😀

PapaXan

Groovy, baby! Yeah!

David Freese

I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I watched this B4 most Bonds and have a either a VHS or DVD since it came out. I'd like you to see 2 eventually if for nothing else but to see the primiere of Mini Me!

Zane From Canada

"What exactly do you do, Mr. Number Two?" "That's my business." That line just gets funnier and funnier everytime I hear it. 🤣🤣🤣

Bill Maurer

One of Mike Myers best movies. Hilarious. Glad you enjoyed it

Johnny Liu

One of my fondest theater memories is my mom taking me to see this when I was a small child because she was an immigrant and didn’t understand what James Bond was. She thought it was a quirky kids comedy lol.

Grégory Gautier

Curious to see, the Austin Powers saga, is it 100% good or 200% bad! What will Cassie think?...

Tim Raths

Elizabeth Hurley in that black leather jumpsuit. 🔥

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

You should watch the Naked Gun series it makes fun of cop movies. Leslie Nielsen was a genius. He was Canadian actor.

Matt Rose

Very funny movie and the only one of the trilogy that still holds up, in my personal opinion. That said, you should definitely watch the third film (GOLDMEMBER) now that you've watched most of the Bond films. I won't say why as that would be a spoiler but...yeah.

Matt Rose

Regarding Dr. Evil: Meyers based the character on Lorne Michaels, the long term producer of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. If you see interviews with Lorne, you'll absolutely see the mannerisms and speech cadence reflected in Dr. Evil.

Brian

The shot where Austin is trying to turn the cart around in the hallway and he's going forward and backward about an inch while banging into the walls is an all-time LOL classic!

JL_83

That’s not your mother it’s a man BAAABY!!!

aarswft

Austin's lines clearly work on Cassie and she's embarrassed to admit it. That's my takeaway from this reaction.

brooke atkins

Yes Cassie that was mike myers playing both Austin powers and doctor evil. And you are not alone everyone’s favorite part of Austin powers is doctor evil. I like the 2nd one the best. I think it’s funnier. This movie was a huge hit when it came out. My best friend use to love to quote this movie. I miss the 90’s! Glad you enjoyed. Looking forward to the game cause I’ve never seen that one but I’ve heard it’s good.

Choof

I always liked these movies, I think the 2nd is the funniest. Its certainly a bond parody foremost but a lot of the portrayal of Austin and his style is more direct joke on the 60s than James bond in particular. The main Bond era it parodies is the connery/lazenby/roger Moore one.

Mike LL

Thanks for watching that Cassie. Really fun reaction. I liked how you were so absorbed by the absurdist humor while still cringing at the toilet humor and some of the raunchy parts. You did catch a ton of Bond references. Some of the music was vintage sixties, with "The Look of Love" song from the 1967 Bond spoof Casino Royale. Yeah, most everyone loves some Austin Powers. I won't call on you to watch the other ones in the trilogy, but if you did, I would watch them!

Uncle Phoenix

I always loved the scenes with Dr. Evil and Scott. “Shoosh.”

William Bryan

Still say Mimi Rogers had the better body than Liz Hurley

James UK

I’m glad you enjoyed this Cassie, and picked up on many of the Bond references. I think this is the best of the 3 movies, but the other 2 certainly have their moments.

D. T. Nelson

Not one of my favorite comedies (or even Mike Myers comedies). It isn't my type of humor. However, I do enjoy the references to the old Bond movies and their ridiculous plots and outdated notions of masculinity and male-female relationships, which, lets face it, fifty years later are almost parodies in their own right. You can probably skip the sequels, though. They basically feel like hour-and-a-half long poop and fart jokes (if you thought this one was cringe... ). If you want less cringy Mike Myers movies, Wayne's World and So I Married an Axe Murderer are much better choices. Still silly, but without all the cringe. Other than those (and the Shrek movies) the only decent movies he's done are ones where he has minor roles (and are, surprisingly, mostly dramas).

rubberkidney

the ozone layer is the bullshit the green commies used before global warming to try and control world governments and extract money from the economy. two separate pseudoscience's.

Gábor Árki

Finding a US theatrical cut was harder than tracking down an SE copy of The Abyss. All my usual sources had only the international cut. I was really unsure how you would react to this movie knowing the mixed track record of spoofs so far and the several cringy scenes. But I'm glad you had a good laugh and didn't take it too seriously and were able to look past the raunchy humor and appreciate the really fun aspect of the movie. It does make fun of several aspects of the Connery movies. Besides the ones recognized, there are many other references to DR NO, THUNDERBALL and YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE. But I don't want to spoil them in case you're going to watch those movies one day. Regarding Austin's style it is partly a joke on the craziness of the 60s in general, but also inspired by 1967's CASINO ROYALE, a non-canon parody of the book. Quite bad movie though so can't really recommend watching it. I find this to be the best from the trilogy. The sequels do have a lot of funny scenes and gags, but also a lot more raunchy and harder to watch scene as well. Although still within the PG13 boundaries. If you are looking for a spy/comedy franchise that deserves more attention, I highly recommend the JOHNNY ENGLISH series with Rowan Atkinson. It is certainly also inspired by the Bond movies, but instead of being a spoof it is rather a comedic homage to the genre. I like the second movie the most of the three.

Stick Figure Studios

For me, this is the best of the trilogy (although the third one comes close). Very funny. So glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to this reaction.

William Bryan

After Austin Powers what I remember most about Mike Myers was him being next to Kanye when Kanye said president Bush didn't care about black people 😂😂

Cole Jennett

Agreed, this was an ideal palate cleanser for you after Platoon. Lots of fun seeing you groan at some of the jokes, and cringe at Austin’s animal magnetism😂

Mannygogou

Whew!, this is so much a better time than The Revenant 😅😋

Mike Lemon

Just started the review, but I think the movie you were trying to remember was So I Married an Axe Murderer. Also, Basil Exposition ("M") is the guy that played John the Baptist in Jesus of Nazareth (1977) which would be an excellent series (3 parts) for Easter. (edit- 4 parts)

Wesley White

YEAH BABY YEAH!!!😁LOL🤣 OMG Cassie, thank you so much for this laugh, I totally needed it! I think I was laughing more at your facial expressions rather than the movie itself lol! I'm glad you enjoyed watching this movie despite how hilariously, entertainingly, raunchy, cringey, and slightly stupid this was! Even I admit, there's some scenes that make me roll my eyes or slap my four head, but it's so brilliantly done that you can't help but love it! Round of applause to you Cassie for getting a lot of the James Bond jokes and referrences👏well done! If you didn't recognize certain actors that made small appearances in this movie, that cowboy character that came in the bathroom after Austin, that was Tom Arnold, you'd recognize him from True Lies, he was Arnold's partner! Plus the character who was leading that father/son group therapy scene, that was none other than Princess Leia herself, Carrie Fisher (may she rest in peace)😭! If you had seen 007 Thunderball, which you and Carly should react to in the future, you'd know which villain the character Number 2 was spoofing on, because of the eyepatch lol! Just you wait till you see the sequels, they're equally funny and raunchy and yes Mike Myers plays multiple characters again! Personally, the third one is my favorite, hope to see you react to the other two in the future! Hmm🤔my favorite scene/one-liners, well pretty much every scene with Dr. Evil makes me laugh the most! Elizabeth Hurley (Vanessa) gosh she was gorgeous back then, and she's still lovely as ever to this day, when I first saw this when I was 11 years old, I had a huge crush on her lol! Great reaction as always Cassie, loved every minute of it, glad you enjoyed it, can't wait for your reaction to the sequels in the future! Have a great Thursday, 15 more days and I'll be 35😁lol! Love and support always, [virtual hug] God bless you, Carly, and your family, and as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Cole Jennett

I want to recommend more comedies, but they can be so hit and miss. Grumpy Old Men and it’s sequel are top of my list though. I really think you will like them😊

Canadianant

Thanks for watching this one in good spirits Cassie. Hopefully this was a palette cleanser after platoon. Yes it's silly and crude in parts but it's also alot of fun. Lots of great send ups of the early bonds and his ladies man persona. The next 2 aren't as good as they ramp up the crude humour but each have some redeemable parts.

Philip Alan

Wow! She didn't recognize Princess Leia!! :) (dad & son group lady in charge)

Dean Holt

Remember having lots of fun watching this at the cinema as pretty much everyone was laughing all the way through and it was a great atmosphere. Glad you really enjoyed it and got the humour, also didn’t release they were two versions as the one you watched looked like it missed out the Christian Slater cameo’s and a few other little scenes as I had to keep pausing your video until my copy caught up again. Was a problem though and I hope you end up watching the other two films. Also I’m surprised you did notice Carrie Fisher as the Therapist.

Dioskur

Anyone know why they cut the 2 scenes after the guards die? I think they are great! For those that dont know: (Spoiler )After the guy gets squished and the other guy gets his head bitten off, there is a scene each showing friends/family reacting to his death, contrasting the throw-away style Bond and such treat the guards in these movies.

Cole Jennett
>>117027746

The trouble is, I’m fairly certain whenever I’ve recommended it, she is either mistaking it with “Bad Grandpa” or “Dirty Grandpa” so not sure it will ever happen, ha ha

Gábor Árki
>>117029680

There are 2 cuts from the movie: US (1h29) and international (1h34). The US cut is omitting the scene with Slater, and the two henchmen scenes but there are also several other changes using alternate or longer takes, different or extended dialogue in the international cut. PS: a comparison between the two versions: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=531109

Mike LL
>>117027289

Mike, you are correct, she has seen So I Married an Axe Murderer and the Wayne's World movies. They are marked as seen in her Letterbxd.

Mike Lemon
>>117024930

Can we not with the politics? Many come here to escape the day to day and watch a movie with others. Just let it be that.

Ike

I’ve seen this several times - yes, it is silly and over-the-top - but it was the very FIRST time that I got all of the references because (believe it or not), this channel is the FIRST time I watched any of the Roger Moore, Sean Connery “Bond” films. I saw all of those on PIB. So, I finally got the Odd Job joke! This was fun!

Stick Figure Studios
>>117027746

Every time someone recommends GRUMPY OLD MEN, I feel compelled to reiterate my desire for Cassie to watch Walter Matthau and Jack lemmon in the original ODD COUPLE movie before moving on to what are essentially it's spiritual sequels.

Luke Godfrey

What the hell. Does anyone know what version Cassie is watching here? It's not the same as the one on Netflix. There are scenes missing from the one she watched and it's super hard to stay in sync. Heavy sigh!

Luke Godfrey
>>117046484

Thanks. So many good scenes cut for no reason. That means Cassie missed the Christian Slater and Rob Lowe cameos.

Patrick Flanagan
>>117024930

Yes it's been a nightmare ever since that cabal of climate scientists overthrew every government on Earth 30 years ago. You definitely don't sound deranged at all!

rubberkidney
>>117024930

why would they have to 'overthrow' anything? it gives politicians exactly what they want. a spooky weather monster to scare people with and use to consolidate power. its one of the oldest grifts in the book....pay me money and make sacrifices to me and i will fix the weather. dumb people fall for it. why do you think every company has a line of bullshit 'green' products? its just a tool to use to control the simple minded. its a mutually symbiotic relationship between a discipline of science that has been corrupted by money and psuedo science and greedy corrupt politicians and companies. no 'grand conspiracy' required....get it? what has climate science even accomplished in your mind? where does their reputation come from for you? as a science they have achieved nothing but physics envy and incompetent computer modeling.

Patrick Flanagan

Austin's 1960s partner Mrs. Kensington isn't a reference to Miss Moneypenny, but to two characters from a long-running British spy TV series called THE AVENGERS. (No relation to Marvel) That series was about a very proper British gentleman agent named John Steed, who had a revolving series of badass female partners. The first one was Cathy Gale, played by Honor Blackman; Blackman left the series when she was cast as Pussy Galore in GOLDFINGER. Gale was replaced by the far more famous Emma Peel, the character everyone thinks of when they remember this show. Peel was played by Diana Rigg, who ended up leaving the series when SHE was cast as Tracy Draco, the future Mrs. James Bond in ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE. 007 of course is the main target of this movie's parody, but it's spoofing the 1960s spy genre in general, which was insanely popular for a brief period and which went out of date almost immediately. There were tons of hit spy TV shows, like THE AVENGERS, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., THE GIRL FROM U.N.C.L.E., I SPY, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, CALLAN, and THE SAINT, and popular movie spies with their own franchies like Matt Helm and Harry Palmer. The hook of this movie was taking that kind of character out of the goofy world of the Swinging Sixties and dropping into the Nineties for contrast, but the other Austin Powers movies are just straight-up comedy adventures for the most part. This movie wasn't that successful when it came out in theaters in 1997, but people found it at video rental stores and it became extremely popular. When the sequel premiered in 1999 it made more money in it's first weekend of box office than the first film did in its entire theatrical run. Myers had made comments over the years about returning to the character, but at this point so much time has passed that the "modern day" 1990s in this movie is almost as distant to us now as the 1960s was to original audiences for this. Weirdly, the Powers series wrapped up just when the spy genre made a massive return after 9/11, with new characters like Jack Bauer from 24 and Jason Bourne from the BOURNE series, and of course the rebooted James Bond series. Kind of wonder what Powers would be like spoofing that kind of spy story...

Robert da Spruce

😂 Fun reaction Cassie! Has Carly seen Austin Powers already? I would have thought since you went on the Bond journey together. She might have joined you for this. Oh well. Yes. The movie is silly. Even more so, now I’m older. But still enjoyable! I’m glad you liked it! Any plans to watch the rest of the trilogy?

Kevin Townsend

I think, not only is it a spoof of James Bond films, I see a lot of Dean Martin’s Matt Helm spy movies in this movie. Also, I’d like to suggest another movie with Elizabeth Hurley, Bedazzled starring Brendan Frazier.

SeanATX

Fun reaction. Very funny because I'm pretty sure I'm very close in age to Cassie and this was a staple of my childhood at that time, but she's never seen it. Sure I saw it in theaters and countless times on home video/DVD. Even owned the soundtrack and played it a LOT. So silly, but so much fun. The sequel Spy Who Shagged Me is a better film IMO, so I hope you give that a shot at some point.

rubberkidney
>>117024930

no no no..you believe in weather shamans and their chants and dances to change the weather...caves are decidedly your thing.

VivendoBem
>>117055390

You're absolutely right about the Matt Helm allusions! Also, I believe the Michael Caine Harry Palmer films (Myers' physical appearance, at the very least) as well as the James Coburn Flint films were also touchstones for Myers when he conceived of this movie.

Nathan Bishop

You weren't able to name another Mike Myers movie besides Shrek? Does that mean you haven't seen Wayne's World? We have to remedy that.

Richard Bourne

A lot of the references are from THUNDERBALL, which was SC's biggest grossing Bond movie. The conference room with the chairs that can kill you, the white cat, the sharks, and many other refernces....

Omar

The peeing scene 😂

Gideon James

This kinda ruins this experience for us. "Omg this was actually a pretty good time. It was so silly, stupid, cringe, funny and quotable"

My_Cousin_Mose

This was a fun reaction, I vote for more comedies to be watched here. This was my first time watching this one (i've seen the sequels). I typically like my comedy to have a bit more intelligence but when done well fart jokes are still pretty funny.

pinkdino99

It's not worth watching for Austin Powers. It's worth it 100% for Dr Evil whom should be on more top ten movie bad guy lists. Austin Powers 2 is better and just doubles down on this with even better Dr Evil lines.

Odd Thomas

The first two movies are great but the third one, aside from a great opening sequence, just lazily rehashes the same jokes imo

Jon Freezin-Rain
>>117051974

That pretty well covers what I was intending to write, There are a few non spy genre pop culture references that were missed due to unfamiliarity but that's not unexpected. Not much of a fan of Mike Myers style humor though I have seen all 3 of the Powers trilogy. I watched for the reaction and was not disappointed

Odd Thomas

Your bemusement only made me laugh harder

Eric
>>117024930

How to tell people you're an idiot without actually telling people you're an idiot. You probably also believe the earth is flat.

Russell Teo

Offensive and not funny at all

Alan Kobb

From the look on your face, I suspect Cassie's kids will be absolutely forbidden from watching Austin Powers until they are 60 years old.

Walter

I always felt the Doctor Evil stuff was pretty good. Random Task might be my favorite joke. Those were direct Bond parodies. Austin Powers - a send up of the swinging 60's - that never worked for me.

Obsolyeet

I hope you stick with the full trilogy. The budgets got bigger, the jokes got better, and the villains get more outrageous. And I think you'd be surprised by a few of the cameos they have in the other two.

Rick Williams

I agree, Cassie. It was stupid fun. Fun reaction. I forgot how absurd this movie was. Blast from the past.

Jacob King

I was 15 when this movie came out which is my only defence as to why I like it. Mike Myers’ best movie is “So I Married an Axe Murderer” which would be great to see included on a rom-com poll or a murder mystery poll. It’s a very sweet and only slightly silly movie.

Gideon James
>>117067181

We prefer not to know how she felt about a film until she does her outro. I can let my feelings known. This is a pay service not unlike Netflix or Disney plus. Do you tell people not to watch content on those services too?

Gideon James
>>117067181

Saying nothing works for us. It seems insignificant but to some It's not. Thanks for all that you do though.

Popcorn In Bed

omg yes i have seen that, he’s so good at being different characters i didn’t even realize that was him

Larry Darrell

I find it good practice, to not read anything having to do with a New Reaction Post, including the intro paragraph and comments in the comment section, until I have seen the Reaction. Just in case.

Larry Darrell

Austin Powers was not just a spoof on James Bond, as others have mentioned. James Bond and other spy movies and TV shows were the inspiration for the Story and Plot in Austin Powers, while the 60s Culture was the source of the main "Spoof." For more Austin Powers inspirations of the Look, Style and Story... TV Series The Avengers (1961 -1969)... starring Bond Girls, Honor Blackman & Diana Rigg The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (1964 - 1968) Secret Agent, aka Danger Man (1964 - 1967)... Theme song Get Smart (1965 - 1970) Rowan & Martin's Laugh In (1967 - 1973) It Takes a Thief (1968 - 1970)... starring Robert Wagner (No. 2) Films A Hard Day's Night (1964) & Help (1965)... Mannygogou

"That's not mine, honestly!"

Em McG

lol I like all the 60s type homage. Like the opening is that Beatles video where they're being chased by fans. And Burt Bacharach... that song What The World Need Now is from the late 60s. I like Mike Myers having fun with all those tropes but portraying them fondly, he seems like a nice guy like Austin. And yes it was mentioned elsewhere Mrs Kensington feels like an homage to Mrs Peel from the British spy series "The Avengers" from the 60s, Mrs Emma Peel made the leather catsuit famous (1965-1967). I used to love watching reruns of this unique B&W classic. I remember she would be carving on a large block of stone in her living room... wow!, that's amazing! Then in the US it was Get Smart (1965) the spy comedy... created by Buck Henry & Mel Brooks... Buck Henry hosted a lot of early SNL and 10 years later Mike Myers is on SNL. Six degrees of separation?

Jonathan Fearby

I’d forgotten how funny and silly this film is. Better than the Johnny English Bond spoofs
