Definitely the Fly

David Blount

Monster Squad *might* be something your family would enjoy. I havent seen it since it came out, but I remember it being pretty family-friendly. The protags are all small kids.

Matt Rose

THE FLY is a masterpiece. edited to add: I agree with Roger Ebert, Jeff Goldblum should have gotten a best actor nomination for his work here.

Matt Winchester

We have to see her reaction to the ending of The Mist! 😄

Chris Arthur

I love The Fly, but it might be a bit much. It's not a movie I recommend to most people.

Alex Villarreal

Everyone is going for the “dark” picks, and those are winning, but Monster Squad would be an ideal “light” break.

Bill Maurer

"The Thing from Another World" is the prequel to The Thing. You should give that a look. Hopefully Carly can sit in on "The Thing". Voted for "The Blob". Steve McQueen, King of Cool, first big hit

David Blount

Body Snatchers and The Fly are the two real gems on this list. The Blob is a 50s drive-in-special, most famous for the early appearance of Steve McQueen. The Mist is one of the most depressing films of all time that doesnt involve Nazis.

Brian McGovern

Oh wow. The Fly! I feel like this learning to run before you can even crawl.😀 Not going to lie. I am nervous for you.

Jaccob Cortes

Oh my goodness. The Mist is on the list? It is a scary movie in a Meta sort of way. I dont know chief... that might be a bit much.

Björn Von Knorring

I voted for The Mist because it is so awesome but feel bad for being part of putting Cassie through it.

BD Williams

If “The Fly” doesn’t win, than what are we even doing here. This film was made for this reaction.

Bryan Dempsey

You will not be able to handle The Fly. Two words: Body Horror. Seriously, it’s just not for you. Whoever talked you into to adding it to poll is not your friend,

Doc Larry

1986 fly is very good, however if you watch with your sister you will spend the next two hours calming her down

Brett Ammons

Cassie, this whole channel is begging for The Mist! Your reaction would be priceless!

Mike LL

THE THING! Finally a reason to be excited about this October. Well, besides THE MUMMY. Hey, that's two reasons to be excited! I've been dreading October all year, but it might not be half as bad as I thought it was going to be! 😏😂🤣

Adam Hendry

Definitely speeding past your boundary of watching gory movies if you're watching The Thing, lol. Will be watching your reaction for sure, lol! Good luck! 😁

Mike LL

Having 1978 INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS for the poll! That's is going to cause a commotion.

Gabriel L.

Oh god no don't subject her to The Fly, she will never recover

Jyn Jilly

She can't watch The Fly lol I had to damn near close my eyes during most of the 3rd act. Great film, but disgusting lol

Steven Perez

OMG Who added THE MIST? That's just cruel.

John

Cassie, don't watch The Mist. I think it would wreck you.

Jason Dolan

I don’t know if you should watch the mist haha good luck definitively don’t let Carly watch it

tiny baby kitty man

Everyone freaking out about The Fly being on this poll either hasn't seen or has forgotten what happens in Cujo. That will traumatize her.

JC762
>>118650167

Yeah, that one’s pretty rough, especially that big change they made to it from the original story. No spoilers but if you know you know.

JC762

Yay for your courage to watch the thing, It’s certainly a classic. I think you will enjoy it. Carly should skip that one as much as I would love to see you both watch it. I just think she’s not quite ready.

Coleton B.
>>118649483

Welp, too late! Cassie has already been through the comments section. In the future, if you could not post spoilers, that would be greeeeeattt.. M'kay?

David Freese
>>118650245

Cassie can handle almost anything in a movie at this point. She might not like it but I don't think anything is going to break her.

Mark Majeski

I voted for Monster Squad because that one would be the most fun. Please don't let the The Fly win. It's a great horror movie but she'll be watching most of the movie through the blanket.

David Blount
>>118650319

What I remember most is that if you look closely, you can see Cujo wagging his tail happily. The dog they used adored everyone and they really had to use some selective editing to make him look menacing.

Pickupthepieces76
>>118649855

It's not that bad. More tension builder then anything else. Some stuff at the end will probably be to dated to really scare.

Brad P

Carly might be able to handle Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Emphasis on "might".

Adam Hendry
>>118649855

Oh I know, just thinking it may be the goriest film she'll have watched so far. Correct me if I'm wrong, lol 😊

David Freese

Everyone first of all The Thing isn't any worse blood wise as Nightmare on Elm Street which she saw last year. Second moving her movie experience past happy rom com stuff is why she started the channel in the first place.

Richard Bourne

THE MIST is seriously scary. You imagine yourself in that situation, and much of the fear is not knowing. I voted for that. I also appreciate THE BLOB 1958 as was Steve McQueen's first movie.

Dean Holt

Monster Squad need to win this to give her something I funny to watch after the The Thing. Also think it’s something Carly could enjoy watching as well. But The Mist is going to win and we all know why just so you can see her reaction to a certain scene.

Evan

So many great choices but I think The Fly has an element that you will both love and be repulsed by. You're a brave lass! Good luck! 💀

Richard Bourne
>>118650371

Yes, John Carpenter is not as well known as he should be. Considering special effects at the time, THE THING is impressively terrifying.

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

Cassie, prepare yourself for "The Thing". Some scenes are grotesque.

David Freese
>>118650750

Not saying it is but Cassie can handle it better than everyone thinks. Also she can react to it and never watch again if she doesn't like the movie

JC762
>>118649718

I feel that Cassie has been pretty open with us about her hesitation, fears and boundaries with scary movies, and I want her to enjoy the experience, and I don’t want to betray any trust that she may have given us when we make these suggestions.

Brad P
>>118650319

It definitely wouldn't traumatize her as much as Cujo the book would.

Blake Evans

Ive already hyped up Monster Squad so that has to be my vote, but I hope someday you get to watch The Mist. It will change your life...

Luke Godfrey

Can’t believe Underworld isn’t winning. Great movie and definitely more up Cassie’s street compared to the rest of them. I hope The Mist doesn’t win. I don’t think Cassie could handle the ending.

Coleton B.
>>118651474

This is a spoiler. Not to worry, though; The fact that the ending is worth discussing has already been spoiled multiple times since this post was put up and Cassie has been through the comments! This is why we can't have nice things!

Louis Chapman

Looks like The Fly may win, the Mist is my choice. Great plotwist ending. Please review the Most also.

Sean Stuart

David Cronenberg films are difficult for me. Not big on body horror. At least human centipede isn’t on this. Way too much body horror only got 30 minutes into it. If the movie isn’t scary and only sickening I’m a hard out. The Descent is my favorite film in this genre. Many go in like myself don’t know about creature element

Mike LL
>>118649775

Body Horror is not one of the three things that Cassie won't watch. So maybe just your opinion. It seems like The Fly is a popular choice, one I voted for.

William Bryan

The Mist!!!!!!!!!! It's a movie people, it didn't really happen. Relax ugh. You want a movie based on a true story? Watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Mist is fiction.

Odd Thomas

The Mist. Far less gory than The Fly and infinity better (imo)

Jeffery Parks

Lake Placid is the only one that has any feel-good romance.

Mike LL
>>118649855

Why don't we just tell her all about the movie before she watches it?

William Bryan

Not Cujo. That is one of King's weaker novels and movies.

Jennifer Medicus

Finally my genre!!! I am such a dork. I love monster movies but like the oldies and classics and camp. Not the Fly - that was too much for me, though my opinion may have been colored by the sequel and the poor dog. I just can't handle it. Cannot believe she is going to watch The Thing. I love it - she is going to hate it. I've never seen The Mist as I thought of it as a horror movie and not a creature feature.

MatthewBrown74m

Your gonna watch the Thing Well ain't we brave

Mike LL
>>118649986

People are trying to cancel THE FLY like CASUALTIES OF WAR was cancelled. I voted for THE FLY. Let's watch it!

William Bryan
>>118650245

It's a damn movie!!!! The Mist is fake. She saw Psycho and Silence of the Lambs- two movies based on a true story. Remeber that

Godzilla Jones

The Fly is my favorite in this list, but there's no wrong answers here. I saw it in theaters back in 86. I was 11. My local theater didn't really care much about ratings so when an 11 year old and his 7 year old sister showed up to watch David Cronenberg's The Fly, they let us in. My sister forced me to take her home about halfway through and still yells at me about it when the subject comes up, which it did a week ago.

Stranger2Reality

Cassie, just make sure you watch the 1982 version of The Thing, not the 2011 prequel with the same name, as that one isn't very good. Also, IMO if you're going to watch The Blob, the 1988 remake is MUCH better than the 50s original. Now, regarding The Fly, everyone is warning you away because it's so gross, but that movie is an absolute masterpiece. It's hands down the best film by one of the best filmmakers of the last 50 years in David Cronenberg. At its heart it is a tragic love story, as it is an allegory for AIDS.. Because of that, the movie most similar to it that you watched recently is Philadelphia. It's gory and gross, but it is a wonderful movie and will break your heart. I'm so excited by these choices!

John Armbruster

The John Carpenter Thing or the original Howard Hawk the Thing from Another World? I'm sure it's the first, but I absolutely love the original so much. Literally just watched it again just for the dialog. It's so classic. Not scary by 2020 standards, but thoughtful and suspenseful still. Totally recommend it as well as Forbidden Planet.

Jeffery Parks

Hmmm. Pitch Black appears to be missing from these polls.

William Bryan

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2003). Thats the one I've been waiting on for nearly three years lol

Orcagirl78

I will ALWAYS choose Monster Squad!! My childhood fave that STILL entertains me 💗

Paul Browne

The Fly is such an amazing film. It stops being a horror and turns into a great (weirdly) romantic, human story. A total masterpiece.

Stranger2Reality
>>118649950

I absolutely love that movie. Few films have ever replicated the feelings of paranoia that film engenders, although The Thing is certainly one of them.

D. T. Nelson

Cujo is not worth the time. They took a scary Stephen King novel with a terrifying dog and turned it into a warm cuddly fluffy dog. Don't think of Underworld as a "creature" movie, though I guess... maybe the characters could be viewed that way. Body Snatchers and The Fly are classics, but not among my favorites. I suppose if I had to choose... The Mist. A very well made movie (Stephen King story adapted and directed by Frank Darabont, just like Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile). In fact it can be argued that it is the best on the list with excellent writing, fantastic acting, and well crafted directing and editing, but I predict you will leave the movie hating it, and vowing never to watch it again, just like most people who have seen it.

Danika Silva

Why's Cujo on here??? It's a puppy movie that takes place on a farm....🐶

Shawn Kildal

Cassie might actually drop the WTF bomb with The Mist

Shawn Kildal

Besides The Mummy, The Thing, and I'm guessing the top 2 vote getters from these polls, what other October movies has Cassie committed to?

deskmerc

Oh, you must watch both Blobs, the original and remake.

Robin Craft
>>118653736

I remember "The Lost Boys" being discussed quite a bit earlier this year. I thought that movie would be a given.

Kim Brink

The Fly and The Mist are 2 MUST watch movies for the channel.

Tyler Foster

I know why everyone wants to see The Fly, it's a great movie, but I am hoping Body Snatchers pulls off a win here. To subject Cassie to The Thing and The Fly in one go seems mean. And Body Snatchers is also great, and pairs well with The Thing.

Bryan Erickson

You HAVE TO WATCH The Monster Squad. It’s just; Gonnies against classic horror monsters. Not nearly as good as Goonies but really fun.

Jeffery Parks

Cujo has the story elements that would disturb and traumatize Cassie more than any movie in these two lists.

Roger Banks

You’re going to love The Fly.

Stick Figure Studios

THE THING is a great movie... and you will hate it. :-). Otherwise, I'm voting for INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, CUJO, LAKE PLACID and THE FLY. Please, For the Love of God, do not watch THE MIST.

Jonathan Fearby

The Fly is probably the most gruesome sci-fi, Bodysnatchers is more physiological,

Gideon James

1982 version of The Thing I hope? The Thing 2012 prequel is an ok film. Thanks Cassie!

Sean Stuart
>>118656251

That sounds horrible better ways to put a dog down then beating it to death. Hope you are trolling us

Rick Williams

It's not letting me vote. Why are you teasing me Cassie? You show me these two polls but I can't vote. 😔

Brad P
>>118655322

I think The Mist would traumatize her far more. Cujo actually has a fairly happy ending compared to what happens in the novel.

Walter

You should absolutely NOT watch The Thing. It's a fantastic movie - a classic movie - and it's everything you hate. Seriously, you will not enjoy the experience. At all.

Mike LL
>>118653736

ZODIAC has a commitment for October. So does the "lite" poll winner, ZOMBIELAND. Then she has already done one commitment in Clue. And then there is the fact that DOG DAY AFTERNOON won the Oscar poll on the last live package opening, and could have been seen already.

shaneth138

Monster Squad clears all by far.

R F.

Gotta go with “The Fly”. The ending of “The Mist” should not be endured more than once in a lifetime.

Ronny Boss

I don't know if Cassie would be able to watch The Fly and not get sick 🤮

Just Plain Bob

Looks like Cassie is lining up some of the all time great movies - horror or otherwise - for this year’s season. Superb selection of choices. GO CASSIE!!!

Jeffery Parks
>>118655322

I'm not talking about which movie is scarier, I'm talking about which movie subjects she cares about more.

John Murphy

My cousin was in Fly II. She played Dr. Jainway.

Brad P
>>118649950

Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Thing are the perfect double feature.

Carol_White
>>118657615

If she spends half the reaction under her blanket, it still counts as a legitimate reaction.

nick bell

I'm officially excited for THE THING!

sarCC

The Fly is great, but it's super-effing-gross. Gonna have to vote towards The Mist or the '78 Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.

Henry Graham

The Fly is a masterpiece. Not only a great horror film but one of cinema's most tragic and moving love stories.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Just voted for The Fly (1986). Thank you to the other 248 people for putting that classic film in the lead!

ContrabandDonut

The Fly is not a Cassie movie. Although I did like Carol's comment, If Cassie spends the entire film under her blanket it still counts. I'm not sure The Fly is the sort of torture we should inflict on Cassie. If memory serves Underworld would be a super easy way out, cause its not 'scary' and more about Kate Beckinsale in a catsuit, and meeting an ex-husband. Lake Placid is about the hockey team right? Kidding.

jdj830

I’m going with The Blob. Campy 50s horror is fun. Psychotic modern horror whose only purpose is to traumatize you so you will be more susceptible to fascist propaganda - not so fun.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS
>>118662510

I think the love story in The Fly (1986) would appeal to Cassie. She always likes when there is a love story in the film she is watching. Perhaps if she's able to withstand the gore in it, it might encourage her to watch The Exorcist (1973) one day!

Myles Away

The Thing is a brilliant movie. Perfectly suspenseful.

David Freese
>>118649855

Nightmare on Elm Street is just as gory and more blood with the first killing and bed scene. Plus all the war movies she's seen. If she can handle Full Metal Jacket and Platoon then The Thing will be ok.

Lazarus Gonzales

Oh, wow. U might as well watch the Exorcist now! Lol

Brad P
>>118657615

I wouldn't have said this two years ago but I actually think Cassie can handle The Thing now. She'll love Kurt Russell and the rest of the cast and appreciate the incredible effort that John Carpenter and his crew put into the film. Plus she's stated how much she enjoys suspense films and they don't get much more suspenseful than this. Yes, there are some gruesome moments but it's not a nonstop gorefest. There's really only about 3 or 4 scenes where the bloody special effects get extremely intense.

ContrabandDonut
>>118662510

The Fly as training for The Exorcist is an interesting idea. :) I'm not entirely convinced but its an interesting idea.

Miles E Coburn

Even though "The Mist" (2007) is one of my favorite movies (I'm picking up the 4K version when it's released), I DON'T think Cassie (or Carly) should watch it. I just don't think she'll come away with any good feelings whatsoever. I just think it'll damage her psyche too much. As such, I'm voting for "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978).

zynjams

why are you voting for the Mist, its horrible and has the worst ending ever. please take it down

G
>>118662510

Cassie might be ready for The Fly (1986). I'm not sure about Carly. I think the only demonic possession movie they can both watch right now is Fallen (1998). Starring Denzel Washington and John Goodman.

Katie Jackson
>>118656958

Try clicking on the name of the movie and not the box. That's what I had to do to get it to let me vote.

Astraeos

First things first, what a great two polls you guys have made. Secondly... man. You really are upping the ante a bit this Halloween. I think you are ready though, but I will say with many of these movies you are in for some of the most brutal and gorey stuff you've seen so far. So I hope you are prepared. Especially for The Thing. And I hope to the HEAVENS you are watching the John Carpenter version of The Thing with Kurt Russel. That will be a huge sin if not. Also just in general, more themed polls like these! Themed polls are honestly really fun, and it gives movies a chance to shine that normally would not get much attention.

rakesh
>>118666390

Yet 200+ voters disagree with you. A mystery how polls work eh?

rakesh

The went for the mist. I think the mist is better in terms of overall story compared to the fly. I also hope the Mist gets picked as it provides some respite as the fly is at the same level of intensity as the thing. Would have voted for the blob but it's the original not the remake and truly an underated movie. Creature feature Poll 1 has the better movies. Glad everyone's polling for some genuinely great movies here. Scary bit not too scary week should be named pretty darn scary week.

Craig Hepworth
>>118666390

lol the movie got superb reviews and the ending was praised by all, inc King. Just because you don't like something, does not make it universal opinion

ContrabandDonut
>>118662510

I was going to make a "yeah, but Denzel" argument in defense of their choice......but my heart wasn't in it.

Jeffery Parks

I had no idea how close Cassie was to her mom. I'm watching her reaction to Jurassic World right now and several times she's cried out "Mother!"

Just Plain Bob
>>118667074

I agree that Cassie is definitely upping the ante this year. There are some really good picks on these polls and they are currently winning or in second or third. As to The Thing, I’ve been assured it is the John Carpenter film. I absolutely love that movie and can’t wait to see the reaction.

rakesh
>>118662399

You're making it sound like Romeo and Juliet. But it's not 🤣

Raven Dark

Arachnophobia is on the list of images, but it's not on the actual list when you scroll down. It was, but it's gone now. Did you mean to remove it? If you did, good, because otherwise I would have chosen it instead of better films just because it would be fun to see you two react to it. Man, this is a hard list. Some of these I want Cassie and Carly to watch not just because they're scary, but because they're damn good films. I can't decide between The Fly and The Mist. Both are good films that, if both of you can get past the scary or the gore, you'd enjoy the stories.

Just Plain Bob
>>118671133

Arachnophobia is on the second poll and leading by a sizable margin. The poster images are from both polls.

Rick

Lake Placid for the great mix of humor and tension

Dan

I'm going with "Underworld," just to see if the ladies get sucked into the whole franchise. (pun intended)...

djKENTO

Underworld is so goofy and fun. Romeo and Juliet with vampires and werewolves… and enough leather to make The Matrix cast jealous… love that.

Richard Maurer
>>118649569

TTfAW is not a prequel to The Thing. They're both adapted from the novella Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell. The 2011 version of The Thing is a prequel to the 82 version however.

Richard Maurer
>>118649775

Yet another person here who wants to tell Cassie what movies she can handle. I have a question for all the "too much for Cassie" people - name one time that a movie that won a poll was ever really too much for her. By that I mean a movie that she couldn't finish because it traumatized her so much.

Richard Maurer
>>118649986

So many people so desperate to save Cassie from movies that aren't nearly as bad as they claim they are. Does it give you a thrill if you get her to cancel something?

Richard Maurer
>>118650167

Who added it? I would assume somebody on Cassie's team. So I guess they don't think it's as bad as you do.

Richard Maurer

Wow, the White Knight Patrol is out in force tonight.

Richard Maurer

Voted for The Fly, but other than Monster Squad there are really no bad choices here. And I only say MS is a bad choice because it's a kid's comedy and so doesn't really belong here.

MertzRocks

Darn... No 'THEM' (1954), No 'Bug' (1975) Let's get a little obscure: No 'Sssssss' (1973)

Stick Figure Studios
>>118665969

I agree. Not a bad movie really, but there is one part of it (and if you've seen it you know what part I'm talking about) that is absolutely horrible, that almost undermines the whole thing and which Cassie would not only hate but probably be legit traumatized by. It',s the sole reason why I don't recommend the movie to anybody (lest anyone accuse me of being a "white knight" trying to protect Cassie). It's just not worth it. So many other, far better and far more satisfying scary movies to see.

Variable38
>>118678790

I can't believe how many people think so little of Cassie's mental stability they are concerned that if she watches a 40 year old studio released movie it will traumatize her for life. They think shes so emotionally fragile it will fundamentally change her as a person.

Richard Maurer

As usual the the older classics can't compete with the newer films - which is why I keep pushing for a classic horror poll. I'm not saying we need one every quarter or something, but once a year wouldn't hurt. And just to really think outside the box. it could happen in April, it would be nice to see a major reactor watch a horror movie outside of Halloween month for a change.

Ryan Gondek

I voted the Mist because you just know that ending is gonna put our girls in therapy. Let's give it a strong second and maybe she'll get to it.

Richard Maurer
>>118652024

Less gory, both great. Had a hard time deciding, but I think the the Fly would make for a better reaction.

RabidMango
>>118681604

If it's on a poll she'll probably give it a watch. In time, everyone wins. :]

RabidMango
>>118650750

I'd vote for The Thing if I could see it on the list. How scared can one be when Kurt Russel's beard is there to protect all from evil?

Richard Maurer
>>118649718

She Survived Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Gangs of New York, The Last of Us, etc., etc. But it's The Thing that will end her reaction career - SMH.

David Freese
>>118650750

She's actually watching the Thing away from the poll. And that beard has superpowers

RabidMango
>>118649775

It's getting weird up in here with the amount of people trying to "protect" her when she's an adult, fully capable of watching a movie. She can bail if she wants to. She can always get backup like she did for The Shining. :]

David Freese

It's about subject matter that Cassie doesn't want to see not the gore or scares when it comes to the Exorcist

RabidMango

Honest question: Is Cujo a creature feature? It may very well be. Now I'm looking at my half english/french bulldog and wondering what's going on between his ears.

Mr Trick

Well, if The Fly wins, between that and The Thing, it might wind up the grossest spooky season. I'm pulling for The Blob though, since the classics rarely get much attention on reaction channels. (The 80s remake is another great modern take on classic 50s Sci-fi.)

Richard Maurer
>>118651010

I would literally vote for anything on this list before Monster Squad. It's a children's comedy horror film, for heaven's sake. Last I checked her audience wasn't full of 6 yr old's.

Richard Maurer
>>118678790

I'm literally getting angry reading some of the comments. It was hard to keep from saying something really mean and just stick to my usual sarcasm.

BJ Stephens

ugh.... it bothers me so many people vote for a film (i would bet good money) that she is going to hate, goes to show how many people have a nasty streak hidden somewhere inside.

Drew

I love The Fly and The Mist but I really recommend against them.

Richard Maurer
>>118651096

Ebert was terrible as a critic of horror movies. At one point in the 80's both he and Siskel were practically calling for censorship of horror movies. A film critic flirting with censorship is a unforgivable sin in my book.

Richard Maurer
>>118651453

Like The Mummy it's an action film disguised as horror. But It's a lot better than The Mummy so I gave it a pass.

John Liebling

Would rather see old school 1958 Vincent Price The Fly movie

Richard Maurer

I bothers me that so many people here want to control what Cassie watches. Cassie is a adult, not a child, and she and her team can decide what's appropriate to put on the polls. No one here forced them to do it. And The Thing wasn't even on a poll, Cassie herself decided to watch it. So apparently you're now telling even Cassie that she doesn't know what's best for her.

Bek Yuldashev

I don’t know if Cassie can survive through The Thing. Just the dog scene alone will mortify her.

Brian

I don’t think she’s ready for fellow Canadian David Cronenberg 😬

Wesley White

I have a feeling THE FLY and THE MIST is going to traumatize you Cassie, no spoilers! I'd much rather recommend the OG, THE FLY (1958) but that's just me! I'm glad to see that two movies I recommended for you are on this poll, that being UNDERWORLD and THE MONSTER SQUAD lol! But hey, you made it through watching POLTERGEIST last year, so best of luck to you making it throught those two movies if you watch them! So many good picks, I'm impressed lol! Love and support🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹

Erik Daniel

I'm sorry I voted for The Fly. The thing too eh? You'll be fine, totally, totally fine. You Sarah Connor tough...but it is gonna get a little gnarly.

Gene Crossin

Wolfman's got nards... I loved Monster Squad

Jacob King

The Mist is a deeply unpleasant movie. It’s intended to leave you feeling angry and uncomfortable and it is successful in its aims but, yeah, nah. The Fly, on the other hand, is one of the great romantic comedy horrors of all time.

Stick Figure Studios
>>118690436

I liked the movie for the most part, but I hate, hate, hate that ONE scene. With a passion. It is just cruelty for its own sake. It's irony porn.

Stick Figure Studios
>>118649855

Let's be honest here. THE THING is much gorier and more gruesome than NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. Don't get me wrong. It's a great film and I love it, but I am surprised she's finally decided to take the plunge and watch it. I'm proud of her, but I do not anticipate it being an enjoyable experience for her

Clay F

The Fly (1986) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) are the most critically acclaimed on that list. I voted for those two.

Barry Justice
>>118684891

Wow!!! It's so exciting that Cassie is going to watch "The Thing". I hope it's the 1984 remake, not the original black and white one. I bet she sets a new record for most "Oh MY Goshes" EVER in a reaction!!!

Barry Justice

Okay, she is going to watch "The Thing"! So I've got to start a poll...will Cassie say "Oh My Gosh" more than 10 times during the movie? Up vote this post if you think she will say it more than 10 times (Yes this is a blatant attempt to get "Thumbs Up Votes"). Please include an exact number to be entered into the contest..the winner gets bragging rights for all of October!

Barry Justice
>>118696918

The correct number will be 15 times. My AI computer has analyzed all of Cassies previous reactions and determined that this will be the winning number!

nick bell

I keep forgetting that so many patreons think Cassie and Carly are 12 years old. Sure treat them like they're 12 anyway.

Vincent

Underworld... because so few react to it

Richard Maurer
>>118649855

Are any of the modern real horror movies she's watched on this channel a pleasurable experience for her? She doesn't like being scared, and horror films are designed to scare people. I've always said if it's really that bad for her she should just quit. But as long as she chooses to continue I'm going vote for whatever I feel are the best choices on the polls.

Richard Maurer
>>118650167

And who are the people who convinced her not to watch Saw, because they lied to her about how bad it was.

Carol_White
>>118690436

I'm glad I'm not alone here. Even King says it's a better ending than what he wrote, and I'm like, I thought you swore off the drugs a long time ago.

Richard Maurer
>>118662399

@ rakeshldn - Are you saying the love story wasn't a significant part of the movie? Because if you are you missed the point.

Richard Maurer
>>118666390

I love how you know what we're all thinking. Actually part of the reason I voted for The Fly was because of how brutal The Mist is. Now, before anybody accuses me of switching sides in this eternal debate, no I don't think it will traumatize her or any of the other hyperbole the White Knights use. And I do think she should watch it if it wins the poll, and I'm definitely not shaming anyone who voted for it. I'm just saying that given the choice between two excellent movies the effect The Mist would have on her was one of the factors I took into consideration. We're not the heartless sadists the White Knights like to portray us as.

Richard Maurer
>>118690436

That ONE scene literally changed the movie from a standard monster movie to a work of art. I applaud Frank Darabont's bravery for making a movie that I'm sure he knew that so many wouldn't be able to deal with.

Allen W. McDonnell

IMO the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1956 is far superior to the 1978 remake!

Dean Holt
>>118651010

I really don’t have a problem you not liking the MS as that’s your opinion but over hundred have voted for it so I think it deserves to be there. But There’s nothing wrong with having different styles of horror films to vote on as that’s whole point of a poll. Also There has be plenty of films on other polls she’s put on that I didn’t like, so guess what I didn’t vote for them. The reason I like MS is because it’s a fun movie and the main reason might be because of nostalgia, just because I’m older doesn’t mean I have to stop watching movies I enjoyed as a kid. So for heaven’s sake don’t judge us older people who still enjoy having fun watching movies.

Mike LL
>>118698397

I think it is a little like telling your little sister "Hey, don't watch that movie, it will scare the mess out of you." People have fun saying that, but you are right, these are adults and they can handle these movies.

Larry Darrell

I’ve only ever seen The Fly (1986) once, and yet for some reason I dreamed I was in the movie last night, right alongside Geena Davis’ character. That was weird.

Dean Holt
>>118649565

My thoughts exactly but it looking like the Fly or The Mist. So expect a lot of her hiding behind the blanket.

Dean Holt
>>118678973

Well MS has got over 100 votes, so this might surprise you but people do have different opinions.

Damon
>>118696918

Over/Under is definitely gonna be at 15, I think. My question is how many times will she cover her face with her blanket? lol Over/Under on that I'd put at 5. lol

rakesh
>>118662399

I'm saying its very gory movie. A tragic and moving love story is not the thing that comes to mind when I think of brundlefly.

Richard Maurer
>>118651010

I don't hate MS, but having watched a reaction last year I realized it was much more juvenile than I remember from last time I watched it (probably because I was a juvenile the last time I watched it). It just seems really out of place compared to the other movies on this poll. That being said if it came down to Monster Squad, Arachnophobia, and The Meg on a poll I'd vote for MS over them, no problem.

Henry Graham
>>118662399

Well, it is what comes to mind for me, and I'm sure I'm not alone in seeing it that way. I think it's one of the best pieces of art ever made about what it feels like to watch helplessly as a loved one succumbs to illness. The true horror is of seeing one's body fall apart - a fear we can all relate to - and the fact that it was made at the height of the AIDS epidemic has always seemed particularly apposite. I find it a profoundly moving film.

Richard Maurer
>>118678973

I'm not surprised people have different opinions. And the above opinion is mine. While 100+ people might disagree that doesn't change my opinion one bit.

rakesh
>>118665969

I disagree. It doesn't undermine the whole thing. For me, it made the movie knowing what happens moments after. But you're probably right about Cassies reaction considering her reactions to other movies that have similar moments. But overall it's worth it because it's a great movie. I'm not a huge fan of the genre, and King's movies seem to fall into distinct hits or misses, but this for me is a top 10.

Richard Maurer
>>118698397

I don't care if people tell them a movie is really scary. But when they them tell not to watch a movie, and say things like the people who want them to watch that movie just want to hurt them, then yes, I a have big problem with that.

rakesh
>>118666390

ha! I voted for The Mist as opposed to The Fly for exactly the same reason!

rakesh
>>118683808

There's a version of The Mist thats in B & W and it kinda works as 50's type horror movie.

Richard Maurer
>>118666390

Which just goes to show NOBODY here really knows how various films will effect Cassie, It's all just a matter of opinion. Especially with horror movies as just what actually scares an individual is highly subjective.

LDC7080

Just a note the poster for the blob looks like the 1988 offering which I enjoyed more than the original might have been to do with a certain Shawnee Smith 🤩. Also I cannot believe you are going to watch the thing. It will be interesting to see your reaction to that 🫣

LDC7080

Dare anyone to watch the fly 2 without shedding a tear. If you’ve seen it you know what scene I mean 😢

Squired85

Lake placid! For sure!!!!

Squired85

Can you please watch GATTACA. It's probably one of the finest movies ever made

Robbie

The Fly is a masterpiece

Adino1

I was totally hoping for The Blob (1988)

Joe Monroe

Make sure you watch The Fly with Carly.

Eddie Perkins

Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Fly, and The Mist are all GREAT!

My_Cousin_Mose
>>118652156

If you cut out every word in the book that pertains to cereal commercials I'd say its a pretty great read. But then it makes it a pretty short book..

Robbie

The Fly and The Mist have to win

Ike

Pass. lol

2-Can

Still no access to the poll.

Cole Jennett

I trust Coleton when he says “The Mist” isn’t for Cassie, even though I’ve never seen it. Underworld isn’t far from overtaking it.

Cheshire
>>118794589

Just a thought... if you are clicking the checkbox, you need to click the progress bar.

Rod Reavern

The Fly and The Mist are going to be rough on Cassie. I don't want to traumatize her so I voted for Monster Squad. :)

2-Can
>>118794589

Same as some others reported. Nothing under this post (1 of 2). Under the above post (2 of 2) I just get a little grey box that says ‘Poll’. When I click on that box it takes me to a string of posts for previous polls (the 51-100 poll showing first, but not the current poll - just the post/pic showing the contenders).

2-Can
>>118794589

Ok - after posting the response to your question, I saw Cheshire’s comment. Turns out when I viewed through the Feed tab, both polls showed up. The problem came from viewing them under the Memberships tab. Thanks, Cheshire!

ChristopherTracy

I agree with many on here, The Fly with Carly and The Mist

ChristopherTracy

You left off one AMAZING creature feature off your list, Pan’s Labyrinth, directed by Guillermo Del Toro. You will be amazed and you will cry, but this is the definition of a creature feature.

Rod Reavern
>>118815972

I love The Thing. The body horror in The Fly will be worse for Cassie than The Thing. And the ending of The Mist...

Russell Teo

Nothing nice on this list. Train to Busan or nothing

Stick Figure Studios
>>118686981

It's gonna be rough for her certainly and I suspect she will not like it, but it is a great film and worth watching, so I admire her for having the courage to do it.

John Cranberry

Well thank heavens The Fly won. But a little bummed that The Descent finished 3rd in the other pole. Arachnophobia is awesome, but The Descent is better than Godzilla. Anyhoo.

Richard Maurer
>>118698397

Yeah, lying about how bad movies are and saying that the people who vote for those movies are sadists IS pretty childish, among other things.

brooke atkins

Wow the movies winning this poll are the 2 Cassie is going to have the hardest time with 🤦‍♀️ not surprised. The fly is soooooo disgusting and I have no clue why so many people want you to watch that. I’m pretty sure she’s gonna hate it and be grossed out the whole time. So many better horror or thriller movies to watch. These polls are so disappointing sometimes. Everyone voting for the worse thing just to see Cassie freak out and be disturbed. I don’t get it.

Rod Reavern
>>118815972

It's not about "coddling" Cassie as if she was a little girl, rather the entertainment value of her reactions, which is the whole point. If Cassie watches The Mist and The Fly, I don't think they'll be as enjoyable as other movies on those polls -- and NOT on the polls. For creature features, I would've recommended Pacific Rim, The Shape of Water, Slither, and Little Shop of Horrors. Cassie's reactions to those monster movies would be very entertaining!

Drew
>>118685393

I used to work in a grocery store. A lot of Mist jokes whenever it was very foggy lol

Douglas E Bruns
>>118882878

I don’t think people are voting for the Fly to gross them out. Yes it has a lot of gross special effects, but the acting and story in the Fly make it a very good movie.

Richard Levesque

The Fly is, quite simply, one of the best horror movies and one of the best remakes ever made. It works on so many different levels. Yeah, Cassie is going to have a hard time with the gory parts. But, hell, I'm a horror fan who saw this in the theaters multiple times when it came out and I STILL have a hard time getting through it to this day. But the acting and directing is so good and I think Cassie will appreciate that part of it.

Paul Rich

The Shining is one of the all time classic horror films. "Heeere's Johnny! (sadly many folks are too young to get that line)

pinkdino99
>>119116618

I was around 13-14 when The Fly hit cinemas and everyone talking about how gory it was put me off watching it until I was in my late teens. When I eventually saw it my mind had made up far worse than was conjured onto the screen. I actually laughed at some scenes.

Michael J

Wow The Mist got beat out.... To scary maybe, but my vote would of not changed the outcome. It is a bit heavy, I say Hubie Halloween....... Its what Elf is to Christmas. Still on Netflix every Halloween. Its became my fav Halloween spoof, plus the love story in it...

ChristopherTracy

I know it didn’t win, but it didn’t exactly lose either. Watch The Fly. The character development is both sad and mesmerizing in a horrifically solemn way. Yet it’s not gore for gore sake. You’ve seen more death and dismemberment in John Wick and other films than you will in this one. This movie will have you thinking about it long after you’ve seen it, but it’s really about the characters. You’ll be sad and slightly scared, but in that good movie kind of way. Our goal is not to freak you out or give you nightmares, but to introduce you go great films, film making and acting. The Fly has it all. But yeah, it’s a bit scary. We believe in you, you can do it! lol

Jonathan Clem
>>118827933

Couldn’t agree more, please see this Cassie! It is a creature feature that is a masterpiece of emotional story-telling and set design

DAVID COSTELLO

Invasion of the Body Snatchers is awesome

Powers209
>>118827657

Yet the Mist could break both of the girls. Are we sure they can handle it?
