Mummies right?! Ok how did I not know Brendan Frasier was such a delight! This was lots of fun, with just enough scary but not too scary! Adventure and love but also intense and spooky. I'm sad we missed out on this as siblings in the 90's, I think we would have loved it-nightmares probably, but a lot of fun!

[Full Reaction] The Mummy (1999)

Comments

Robert da Spruce

Looking forward to watching your reaction! Also, if you’re looking for more Brendan Fraser movies, may I suggest rom-com Blast From the Past starring Brendan and Alicia Silverstone.

Kevin Carroll

You know what this means, right? You have to do The Mummy Returns now. It's just as fun as the first one.

David Bennett

I've already watched the Mummy once today, with Mari (from Belgium).....am I gonna watch the same full length movie TWICE IN ONE DAY???

Marko T.

Great movie. This is a remake of the movie by same name from 1932. Its one of the classic Universal monster movies with Frankenstein and Dracula. It stars Boris Karloff. Its very different but Imhotep's story is similar.

Wes

This one’s going to be fun 🤩

Shehab Dawoud

As always, your timing is impeccable, Cassie. Just as I’m about to walk out the door😂 I can say this though, one of the most fun, rewatchable movies EVER. Maybe it’s because I watched it first, but I highkey enjoy this more than Raiders. As others have said, definitely check out The Mummy Returns (after Halloween), it is equally fun, although you won’t be as impressed with the CGI on that one! But skip the 3rd one, ‘Tomb of The Dragon Emperor’, it is not good, and Rachel Weisz is not in it either. Also, even though it’s my man Tom Cruise, forget the 2017 The Mummy, it is even worse. I’m out.

R Harper

Still processing? Why post it?

DesertSwordsman

This movie taught me the importance of being on the correct side of the river. 😊😆

Steve Colletti

I'm glad you could get Carly to see it with you

Rollo Tomassi

I always enjoy catching up (so to speak) with my Memory Grove Park buddy (I’m talking to you Carly!) lol. I’ve been enjoying the Poptober thrills and chills so far … keep it up! 🎃

Night King01

If this made Carly cover her eyes imagine if she saw the thing. She would run out of the room lol😂

Jaccob Cortes

I cant wait to watch. A childhood classic thats shared with others is great.!

Night King01

I like how you guys were confused about the curse. This has to be the dumbest curse in history. Why give that man the ability to wipe out civilization instead of just killing him and be done with it. It’s like they were asking for it.😂

Jacob King

Love this movie (and the second one). Classic storytelling works. I’d put this up there with Curse of the Black Pearl and The Mask of Zorro.

AdrianF

Don't know to watch this or The Thing first. Two of my fave movies.

Sahitya

Ya it's a shame u didn't get to watch it growing up. Tbh it's not a perfect film, not by a long shot, and even at the time it came out it wasnt reviewed that well. But considering the state of Hollywood these days, they just don't make em like they used. So for what its trying to be, now its a classic.

Marko T.

The director Stephen Sommers did The Mummy Returns after this and then Van Helsing (2003) starring Hugh Jackman. It has many of the Universal monsters but its not part of the same universe as The Mummy movies. Its a fun movie too.

David Bennett

I'm glad ya'all enjoyed it! I think the second one is worth watching, the scorpion king is OK at least once, I wouldn't bother with the last one at all, personally..... a few things to help your understanding/enjoyment A lot of broomhandle mauser pistols were in this film. I guess with more than a million of the sidearms produced in 40 years of production from Mauser, and many more unlicensed copies made in other countries, it’s not really that surprising. I AM pleased that they included a period accurate Lewis Gun mounted in the rear cockpit of the biplane that Ardeth then takes dismounted to battle with the mummies. Jonathan throwing the empty revolver instead of reloading is something that annoys me INTENSELY. Firearms, then as now, are valuable possessions, and throwing them away after expending the ammunition inside is unthinkable TO ME. Bernard Fox (Winston Havelock, pilot of the biplane) played Colonel Archibald Gracie in the film Titanic, Gracie actually survived the sinking IRL. In the film, he made the somewhat rude comment “women and machinery DO NOT mix….” after hearing Rose’s partially truthful explanation of how Jack came to be laying on top of her when the sailors came running over I find it amusing that Benny had the nerve to insult Rick’s camel while riding his own. Camels and Horses are basically on par speed wise, 40 mph at a burst, 25 mph sustained for an hour In 1925, blue gold isn’t really a thing. Nowadays, alloying gold with gallium or iridium can produce a gold alloy with a blue tinge. In my professional opinion, it looks….ODD. I wouldn’t choose to work with it. Booby trapped tombs are nearly completely a hollywood fiction. The closest thing to a REAL LIFE example is the Bahariya Oasis tomb, where the floor was covered in 8 inches of Hematite dust, which can cause very unpleasant and fatal internal injuries if it is inhaled by a human. The scarab, Scarabaeus sacer, IS a real insect but it does not behave anything like the one portrayed in the film. They do NOT feed on living flesh nor do they attack anything in swarms. That was Hollywood bullshit, through and through. The Medjai were a real organization in ancient Egypt. It is thought that they disappeared around 1100 BCE. The Medjai's tattoos are given to them when they turn sixteen, to officially denote their role as defenders against evil. The ceremony is also a trial, since if the Medjai show any kind of pain or discomfort, it's considered that they brought shame upon their family. Men within the group will get tattoos over their entire body, shown with Ardeth's face tattoos that spell out the words "underworld" and "truth" in Egyptian hieroglyphics Ardeth Bay, the leader of the Medjai, (played by Oded Fehr) is shown speaking Arabic. I’m not sure whether this is accurate, I believe a tribe as isolated and focused on maintaining it’s long held traditions would be speaking Coptic, the closest language to ancient egyptian that exists. Historicity: The filmmakers played it fast and loose with real history on this one: Seti the first died in 1279, so Imhotep murdering him in 1290? Pretty much impossible. The idea that an egyptian curse would directly invoke the plagues described in the book of Exodus in the Christian bible is rather problematic, since scholarship cannot agree on when the exodus (if it ever truly happened) took place, and what pharaoh would have been the antagonist is highly debated. The mostly commonly accepted idea is that Ramsees the second IS the pharaoh of the exodus. The problem with this, in terms of this film, is that Seti was Ramsees II’s FATHER and thus the curse would have been concocted BEFORE said plagues ever transpired. I’m not sure if there is a movie about Cleopatra. Netflix did produce a re-cock-ulous ‘documentary’ claiming that she was black. She was BORN in Egypt but her lineage is demonstrably greek going all the way back to Alexander the Great. One thing that jumps out at me about the scenario of resurrecting Anck-su-namun (Her Life Is of Amun) is that when Imhotep tries the first time to resurrect her, there is NO woman beside the body to act as the sacrifice. Near the end of the film, Evelyn is chosen to BE that sacrifice, so why the disparity?? If you are wondering, Anck-su-namun was a princess, daughter of Pharaoh Ankhenaten and Queen Nefertiti, and would go on to marry Tutankhamun, which would also put HER presence outside the timeline given in the film, having been born in 1348 and died in 1322, some 32 years before the events portrayed in the film that got Imhotep sealed away as a juicy mummy.

TinCan Cosmanaut

I’m not a fan of horror at all but this is action adventure right? It’s like Indians Jones.. The outfits, especially Frasier

Catradora fan

The actor playing Beni is Hungarian 😁 and the actor playing the brother Johnathan is from Sliding Doors 😉😊

Shawn Kildal

Rachel Weisz might be considered a bond girl since she is married to Daniel Craig. Not sure if the ladies knew that.

JL_83

saw this in the theater back in ‘99 and enjoyed it a lot, but must admit I felt a tad misled as the previews made it seem like it was going to be a serious thriller; the casting of Brendan Fraser should have been a dead giveaway as at the time he was primarily known for being a comedic actor

ArsTropica

This movie has been called the "Perfect Popcorn" flick, and it still lives up to that name, 25 years later.

Gábor Árki
>>119393184

Beni is played by Kevin J. O'Connor, and he is not Hungarian. According to background materials, not even his character, Beni Gabor, is Hungarian. He is rather referred to as Soviet or Ukrainian from Kyiv. Other signs however show that he is of Hungarian origin. He does not have a Slavic accent, but it resembles more of Hungarian. He refers to O’Connell as "my good barátom", and "barátom" means my friend in Hungarian. His name can also be seen as Hungarian, if we put the family name first and the given name last, as it is done in Hungary. Then, Beni Gábor sounds like a common Hungarian name and the given name "Gábor" is especially very Hungarian. I should know. 😁 However, if it's a surname, then "Gabor" can be found in other countries too, but not in Slavic ones.

zynjams

part 2 is really good also, a continuation of the story of Rick and Evie, you would really enjoy it.

Wesley White

OMG!!!!! Cassie, thank you so much for this reaction! I immensely enjoyed this, you and Carly are the absolute best! You two look so good in those shirts I got you, you're so very welcome! [Jokingly speaking] Thanks for shouting out to me for those shirts lol kidding🤣 This was totally a reaction I needed to see, these past couple of days have left me with a dark cloud hovering over my head, thank you so much for cheering me up and putting a smile on my face! OVERVIEW: You two were so hilarious as always when reacting, each moment from this movie that had a jump scare moment I just knew was gonna happen and I laughed and laughed! I'm so happy you two really enjoyed this movie, and yes I agree with whoever said that your kids would enjoy watching this movie! I was 11 years old when this movie came out in theaters, and I loved it! It's actually what got me into learning Egyptology and it's mythologies! Like I said once in your Indy 4 reaction, that I've dedicated my knowledge into learning the mythology of ancient cultures, while Greek Mythology is my favorite, Egyptian Mythology is my second favorite! What makes this movie so appealing despite the fact that it's technically a remake of a classic horror film from 1932, which I also highly recommend you to react to someday THE MUMMY (1932), is that this one has the mix vibe of adventure, romance, humor, action, and horror! And I'm really glad that you two were able to appreciate all that and enjoy it as well! It does have a lot of Indiana Jones vibes as well! And like Indiana Jones before this, I think this franchise also pays tribute to the classic adventure serials of the 1930's during the Great Depression! One thing that really impressed me was how well Carly was able to connect the dots on some of the moments that would happen in this movie even though this was her first time seeing it, well done Carly👍 FACTS & FICTIONS: While this movie is heavily on the fiction and fantasy side of things, there are a few things that are fact! For example: some of the characters in this movie are based on real life people that lived in Ancient Egypt! There was a Pharaoh Seti the first, he was the second pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty of Egypt during the New Kingdom period, ruling c. 1294 or 1290 BC to 1279 BC! There was a man named Imhotep (the mummy himself), in real life he was an Egyptian chancellor to the Pharaoh Djoser, possible architect of Djoser's step pyramid, and high priest of the sun god Ra at Heliopolis. Very little is known of Imhotep as a historical figure, but in the 3,000 years following his death, he was gradually glorified and deified! Basically he was the one who designed the Pyramids of Giza! As for the mummy's lover, Anck Su Namun, in real life she was a queen who lived during the 18th Dynasty of Egypt as the pharaoh Akhenaten's daughter and subsequently became the Great Royal Wife of pharaoh Tutankhamun (King Tut, the boy king) she was the third of six known daughters of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten and his Great Royal Wife Nefertiti! While there are beetles known as Scarabs, in real life they don't eat people like how this movie portays them as lol, the Scarab (kheper) beetle was one of the most popular amulets in ancient Egypt because the insect was a symbol of the sun god Ra! As for the 10 plauges of Egypt are as follows: Water Turning to Blood, Frogs, Lice, Flies, Livestock Pestilence, Boils & Sores, Hail, Locusts, Darkness (eclipse), and the Killing of the Firstborn Children! Some of these you've already seen in your reaction to The Ten Commandments last year! Speaking of the ten commandments, you remember in that movie that the slaves were Hebrew, which were the ancient Jewish people of that time, and that's why Imhotep spared Beni's life when he held up the Star of David and spoke the language! As for the city of the dead Hamunaptra, it's not real, they made that up for this movie, however the city of Thebes as you see in the beginning of the movie, is a real ancient city in Egypt! The two books you see in this movie, The Book of the Dead (black) and The Book of Amun-Ra (gold) those are not real and Egyptians never had things like that back then, all documents were made of papyrus in scroll form! However, there is actually a book of the dead of sorts that the Egyptians had, though it's more of a scroll made of Egyptian papyrus, also known as The Papyrus of Ani, it is a manuscript compiled for Ani, the royal scribe of Thebes. Written and illustrated almost 3,300 years ago, The Papyrus of Ani is a manuscript with cursive hieroglyphs and color illustrations, and includes declarations and spells to help the deceased in the afterlife! As for mummification, not to go into graphic detail, but everything Rachael Weisz's character said on how it's done by placing the organs in sacred canopic jars is all true, though the process would roughly take 70 days for the embalming and there were 4 jars not 5 like the movie suggests, however they would leave the heart in the mummified body because it was regarded as the organ of reasoning. As such it would be required in the afterlife, when it would testify to the goodness of the deceased! TRIVIA & ACTORS YOU MIGHT RECOGNIZE: One actor I was really surprised that you reacognized Cassie was Johnathan Hyde, he played the pompus British Egyptologist, the one that said "What does a woman know?", and you said he was the butler from Richie Rich, he was also in Jumanji as the dad and the hunter, he was also in Titanic and a number of other movies! Fun fact, in that scene where you see him covered in all those locusts and he says the line "What have we done!" believe it or not, he was actually trying not to laugh during that scene lol! One actor I was a little surprised you didn't recognize was Omid Djalili who played the Cairo prison warden and had that scarab crawl around inside him, you would've recognized him from GLADIATOR, he was the slave merchant that sold Maximus to Proximo the former gladiator! CONCLUSION: Once again I'm so sorry for this LONG!!!!!!! text of a comment, I just love sharing as much info as I can to help you out at a better understanding of this movie, good luck reading all of this lol! I really really enjoyed this reaction Cassie, this is up there in my top 10 favorite reactions you've done so far! In fact, if you would like, I actually have been wanting to do this sort of thing for a while, I recorded myself doing my own reaction to your reaction of this movie, Reactionception if you will lol! If it's okay, I'll send you the link via messages once I have it all fixed up and you can watch it at your own leisure, I just think it would be fun for you to hear my own words when I explain some things to you in the reaction, plus you'll get to see why it is I'm called "moviefanatic" lol! In conclusion, this series doesn't go completely down hill from here, THE MUMMY RETURNS (2nd) and THE MUMMY - TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR (3rd) are pretty good sequels, I love all three! Plenty of action, adventure, and humor! Brendan Fraiser still retains his charm as Rick O'Connell, they're good popcorn flix, so I say you & Carly must watch/react to them, you won't be disappointed! Anyway, I'm so happy you two wore the t-shirts I got you, that almost made me cry with joy lol! Love and support always, you two are the best, thank you for cheering me up, [virtual hug] God bless you, Carly, and your family! And as always [snaps fingers & winks] stay classy Cassie🥰😁😉😇🙏👍🌹🌹

Rose

I loved watching this one as a kid. It never gets old for me. Pls watch the sequel!

Zane From Canada

Excellent fun! I believe I was 9 when I first saw this. The Mummy Returns (2001) is definitely worth watching for future popcorn flick fun. A lot of the characters from the first one return, and we're introduced to some new ones. 😁 I never saw the third one. I heard some people liked it some people didn't. But interest had begun to wane.

Jeff Chance

Loved this when it came out. It was and is a very fun movie.

Jeff Chance
>>119401099

The third one isn’t terrible but not having Rachel Weisz was a huge bummer.

Matt Rose

THE MUMMY is the third best Indiana Jones movie.

Matt Rose

I still say that Rick throwing the chair at Beni is one of the hardest laughs I've ever had in a theater. 'Nice shot'. Fraser's also pitch perfect with the dialog that follows. 'You came back from the desert with a new friend...didn't ya, Beni?' Additionally, the symphonic score to the film by Jerry Goldsmith is absolutely superb. It's one of my favorite soundtracks to just listen to. It's probably the closest that Goldsmith ever came to creating a classic John Williams style score.

Shehab Dawoud
>>119389291

I guess the thinking was that it would make him suffer even more in the afterlife. Take some, give some.

Matt Rose
>>119387964

RETURNS is decent but it suffers from 'too-much-itis'. They try to do too much with it and it devolves into CGI overload. It's worth watching for sure, though.

Matt Rose

Cassie: one of the other films on your Halloween poll was DEEP RISING. That was the film that Stephen Sommers (director of THE MUMMY) did before this one. It's more horror oriented, kinda like a tamer THE THING, but it's also pretty fun. You might like it.

Cheshire

I've been looking forward to this reac since I started following the channel! Adulting is going to be tough, today.

Wu Sha Ling

a perfectly entertaining movie from start to finish. the only thing that bothers me is the crime they committed on rachel weisz' eyebrows.

Samuel Newman

I used to watch this movie on repeat as a kid when it came out. The Mummy Returns is just as entertaining.

Raymond Goff V

the second movie is well worth the watch. I would avoid the 3rd though

Celeste McAllister

That was fun, what a sexy cast! I love Rachel Weisz's gorgeous hair and eyes!!

aarswft

It's funny that you ask about your kids watching it because I saw this film for the first time on a field trip shortly after it came out. Kids love the movie.

Bryan Erickson

Can’t wait to watch along. This is top 5 rewatchable movies for me. It so campy and incredibly charming. Don’t sleep on Mummy Returns!!!! A very solid sequel, that feels just as charming as the 1st. Thanks to chemistry between Fraser & Weisz. Avoid the hell out of the 3rd installment though.

Robin Craft
>>119401099

Exactly. The chemistry between Fraser and Weiz is one of the most appealing elements of the first two films.

Stick Figure Studios
>>119403574

It's unfortunate that for most of his career, Goldsmith was typically in Williams', shadow (Williams did RAIDERS, Goldsmith did KING SOLOMON'S MINES, Williams did SUPERMAN, Goldsmith did SUPER GIRL) because he's every bit Williams' equal. Just different.

Odd Thomas

The sequel is okay but the third one loses Weiss and is utterly forgettable

Grant Parker

Oh PLEASE watch the sequel. You will love that how they are as parents.

Alex

This film was my childhood, haven't seen it in years. Such a fun film

Cody Nelson

I was 10 when I first saw this movie and although parts of it scared me, I still loved it! I watched it so many times! The second one is just as good and you should totally do a reaction to it! Also, your comment about Voldemort had me laughing. ;)

Astraeos

I remember vividly seeing this movie in theaters as a 8 or 9 year old. Maybe a bit too young for it perhaps, but the friend that I went with we were both pretty obsessed with Egyptian history and stuff from an early age, so this was a must see for us. Great memories for sure.

David Collins

My GF and I decided to go see a movie at the bargain theatre one late summer Saturday afternoon in 1999. We couldn't agree whether to see mine, or hers, so we decided on a matinee and saw both. First, we watched her movie, The Mummy and were thrilled. Then we took about a 20 min break, before we went and saw my movie, The Matrix, and were thrilled again. 2 of my top 5 all time favorites on the same night. Best movie theatre night of my life. I know a lot of people say the sequels go down hill, but that's not because the second one is bad. The Mummy just sets such a high bar, very little gets up to it, at least for popcorn movies. The Mummy Returns is actually an EXCELLENT sequel. The Mummy is in my top 5 all time. You're going to have a hard time finding more movies for the channel if you eliminate all the movies that aren't quite as good as it. And let's talk Benny. I was surprised not a word of recognition for him - played by Kevin J. O'Connor. I'm not sure I've ever seen him in anything else, but he deserved an award. Benny was amazingly well acted!

Astraeos

Also, totally stoked that Carly was here for this! I thought I had heard she wasn't, so that's a nice surprise.

Odd Thomas

A lot of FX films from the 90s hold up surprisingly well today and that's because they'd spend months getting the shots right, whereas today big films are rushed through and churned out and frankly a lot of the CGI looks awful. Ant Man 3 was sooo bad I had to switch it off after 20 mins.

Alex Gorell

I remember seeing this in theatres with my dad. Fun movie. Sequel is enjoyable too.

John P Tucker
>>119439620

I don’t know. The scorpion king in The Mummy II was the worst thing I have ever seen.

Brian McGovern

One thing I have learnt from The Mummy, is that Cassie lives in a street with a bunch of hoons. The amount of noise from cars from the street was incredible. 😄

Ryan Geiger

I think the second is better than the first, more of what you love in it. Aside from some crappy CGI in one of the last scenes.

Steve Mercier

Sweeeeeeeet...not a huge fan of the sequels, but this one was always just good fun.

Jason Mangen

I think you will like number 2 as it continues the romance of Rick and Evie. If you like Brendan Fraser then you will love his movie a Blast From The Past a RomCom.

Robin Gibbons
>>119451345

She'd LOVE Blast From the Past! It's in my top 10 movies ever. Brendan Fraser is so good in that!

SeanATX

Always remember seeing this in theaters at 11 or 12 years old. Fun movie

Rainbow Dash

As others have probably said already, I do highly recommend watching at least the next movie in this series, The Mummy Returns. It's the continuing story and full of returning and new characters. If you do decide to watch it, please don't wait until next October.

Rick Williams

Fun movie. Glad I could revisit this movie with you ladies. It has been awhile since I have seen it. I forgot how much fun it was. Great Reaction Cassie & Carly. You guys will like the second movie also.

Kevin Townsend
>>119387891

Blast from the Past is really good. I also like Bedazzled with Fraser and the beautiful Elizabeth Hurley.

Just Plain Bob

I wonder if, just a couple of years ago, the ladies ever thought they’d discuss the relative advantages and disadvantages of fighting a mummy vs fighting giant spiders? And, how awesome is that!?!?!

Keith Jones

This totally explains why my family always has cats...

Nicole

My husband and I made a huge deal about this one and ordered out. It’s that one movie you watch whenever it’s on. Watching the mummy returns would be your call. I like it and think you and Carly would too. Beyond that just don’t do it. Now that you know Brendan Frasier is such a delight please watch Blast from the Past. I have no doubt about you enjoying it.

3dbadboy1

The 2nd one, The Mummy Returns is a lesser movie but it's still worth watching. See if you can fit it in this season :)

dieselbeast

Woah woah hold the phone the second one is Gold just as much as this First one was definitely react to it, it would be a shame not to, whoever told you it was bad or not as good is straight up wrong lol the third one you can skip Universally fans of the first two were disappointed with the third one

sarCC

You have _GOT_ to watch Blast From The Past! It's Brendan Fraser at his peak, his most charming movie, in my opinion. Co-starring Alicia Silverstone!!! Encino Man is fun, too, but not as...perfect for you as Blast From The Past.

Robert da Spruce

Fun reaction ladies! I’m glad it wasn’t too scary for you guys. And Carly, don’t feel obligated to watch scary movies if you don’t want to. Of course, it’s always great to have you join Cassie. But don’t cause yourself nightmares. Also, not sure if you know this. But Rachel Weisz is married to your boy Daniel Craig.

Doug Fisher
>>119439620

@John P Tucker That was because they did not have Dwayne (The Rock) available to scan for reference and were rushed to get it done.

Doug Fisher

Cass... Carly... definitely watch "The Mummy II", I know you will like it as much as this one, maybe even more. (Just ignore the bad CGI at the end, there was a reason it was bad but I won't go into it here for spoiler reasons.)

Dean Holt

Enjoyed watching this again and like always it was a good reaction. Same year Fraser did the Mummy he was also in a Rom Com called Blast from the Past it’s a film I’m sure both of you would really like. But not sure how great it would be for the channel. But one of my favourite films he’s been in is a comedy called Airheads another one Worth checking out.

Larry Darrell
>>119403574

I listen to Jerry Goldsmith’s score for The ‘Burbs every October. It’s actually been on loop in my car for the past few days. He’s surely one of the Greats.

Erik Daniel

What a great surprise to come home to after freezing playing some morning golf. Great afternoon flick. I urge you to just do a deep dive on the man Brendan Fraser. Just seems like a real kind, sweet dude and he will warm your heart for sure. I saw him do an interview once and he deals with some anxiety issues, so to help cope, he held on to one of his kids baby socks the whole just to bring him some comfort and calm him down. Insert 'tender' here. Pro Tip : Mummies are brittle, but if they have powers it complicates things. Especially if they have red eyes that go muurrrrr. F'in greatness lol

Larry Darrell

Cassie: (cringing) I don’t want to see his mouth again. Carly: But, will it go back to normal after this guy? Way to be looking on the Bright Side, Carly. I think we found your secret weapon for surviving Horror Films. ;-) This film is so much Fun. I wish they still made movies like this. I never get tired of it. Glad y’all enjoyed it. Definitely watch The Mummy Returns if you want more of the same Adventure. For more Brendan Fraser, I highly recommend, Blast From the Past (1999). Also for a more serious Brendan Fraser, two early ones… School Ties (1992), with Matt Damon, Chris O’Donnell and Ben Affleck With Honors (1994), with Joe Pesci, Patrick Dempsey, and Moira Kelly

Gábor Árki

Well, I did my double feature last night with THE THING and THE MUMMY. It was fun to rewatch this movie. Haven't seen it in a couple of years now. I could say they just don't make them like this anymore, which is also true, but thinking about it there are not that many quality adventure movies anyway that could approach the bar Indy set. This is a movie I suggested last year as a Carly compatible entry, but during the reaction I wasn't sure how well it is received. Cassie was looking away from the screen more times than during THE THING. 😃 But glad they actually enjoyed it. The first sequel, THE MUMMY RETURNS (2001) does suffer from many of the typical sequel issues, but it is still a fun entry capable of capturing the charm of the original. I don't remember much of the third one, just that I didn't like it much. Also, neither did the spin off movies. PS: I agree with the others, THE BLAST FROM THE PAST (1999) with Fraser and Alicia Silverstone would be a perfect candidate for February, aka Popcorn in Love.

Nathan Bishop

Brendan Fraser is great. You should also check out Encino Man, George of the Jungle and Blast from the Past.

John Casamassa

If you liked this one, you need to watch Van Helsing. Same director, similar style.

Sean Stuart

2nd one is more action adventure with a little horror sprinkled in. Plus Dwayne Johnson for a tiny bit

Richard Rolen

Brendan Fasier and Rachel Weisz had perfect chemistry in this one. The Mummy 2 is also good, but the script for the third one is pretty awful (and Rachel Weisz is not in it, so that really sank the boat!) Glad to see you both enjoyed it. Watching you two be happy makes us happy!

Johnny Salinas

Check out "Blast From The Past" with Brendan Frasier and Alisia Silverstone. I think you'll like it 😊

Terry Yelmene

This was fun. It's a good movie, but not great. Please, Cassie... please, consider reacting to a truly GREAT movie called 'The Whale,' starring Brendon Fraser (winning Best Actor Oscar in 2022). I guarantee your heart will be touched... deeply.

Matt Mabry

I actually think the follow up movie to this one was pretty awesome. There is a third, but it does "jump the shark."

Michael J

I saw the girl,,,, ahhh her name? In NYC, gorgeous women

John Mulbury

Can't wait to see the two of you react to The Mummy Returns

tc63132

omg i legit squealed when i saw you BOTH did this reaction. this. movie. is. classic.

Sarah H.

Jonathan makes this movie for me. I don't think it would be the same without him. I used to watch this move ALL the time growing up.
