Well a day late, story of MY LIFE these days. Like I keep saying recently, this month is so fun, but sheeeessshhh it gets busy! My brother and his family came to visit from Montana this week to help us to finish the basement-it is so fun to see them-we are doing a restaurant crawl of Utah with them and all the festive activities we can muster in between painting and sanding!

This week we will have the winner of our Classic Christmas Poll and a fun Christmas movie with Arnie! I also just posted another Christmas movie poll, so make sure to go vote on that one!

Thank you all so so much to those who came to the LIVE on Saturday, it was amazing and we were able to raise $3400 in donations and then I rounded it up to $4000 to donate food and gas cards to families with children staying in the hospital over Christmas. I cannot wait to give them to them. It seriously made my heart grow 3 sizes to see the generosity large and small! Thank you!!!

I hope you all are feeling the warm and cozies this Christmas season so far!

Bring me some figgy pudding ,

Cassie

Mr Trick

Your hearts already pretty big, Cassie. I’m not sure how many sizes it could actually grow.

Mark Vaderr

Great to hear that Popcorn in Basement is coming soon, Cassie. There are restaurants in Utah? Just kidding. Your LIVE was so much fun to be a part of, and your donation gifts is a most heartfelt and a full of Christmas spirit thing to do. I hope that you were not stressing too much after you did your movie rankings. There was so much anguish on your face. You know we all love you, even if we think your rankings are misguided, which they are. Enjoy the rest of your Christmas season with your family. Also, the birthday present from me and Julie is on it's way! :)

Cole Jennett

Always great visiting with family during the holidays! Love, love, love eating out!😊

Cody Nelson

I'm really happy to see you watching Jingle All the Way! I've loved that movie since I was a kid. I know it didn't do very well when it came out and got mixed reviews but in recent years it seems to have gotten more appreciated by people, which is nice to see.

Dean Holt

YES Jingle all the Way one of the movies I watch every year. Yes it’s so stupid but I just love it. Also one of the best A Christmas Carol/Scrooge movies is the one from 1951 with incredible Alastair Sim I tend to watch it most years.

Robert da Spruce

Still don’t know exactly what figgy pudding is 😂 Sorry couldn’t check out the Live. Congratulations on raising so much money though. Lots of generosity in this community! Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season thus far!

Duane A Lavely

"The Mummy Returns" has the best "chick fight" of all times. Rachel Weisz & Patricia Velasquez trained & rehearsed for months to do the scene without stunt doubles. Outstanding!

Neill Shaughness

I am 100% sure that many if not most of the people who voted for Scrooge thought they were voting for Scrooged. It's a shame too, because there were some phenomenal classics on that list that were (imo) much much better than Scrooge

Björn Von Knorring

All scenes with Arnold is hilarious. Scenes with the Flanders-copy to neighboor is really funny. The kid? Not so much.

Duane A Lavely

I'm not a fan of the Albert Finney "Mr. Scrooge"! The 1951 award winning "A Christmas Carol" has an outstanding cast led by Alastair Sim as Mr. Scrooge. There ARE great movies that were made before color!

Jeffrey Schmidbauer

Please give the 1951 version of Scrooge a consolation prize by doing a reaction to it anyway.

Dean Holt

Put the cookie down 😂😂, that cracks me up every time lol. The kid is Jake Lloyd who played Anakin in Star Wars episode one. He wasn’t incredible but he stopped acting because of all the abuse he got after Star Wars it’s really sad. Yes he’s was a very good child actor but definitely didn’t deserve the hate.

Stick Figure Studios

SCROOGE is a nice film. Not my favorite version of this classic tale, but not bad. The movie was clearly an attempt to tap into the same enormous success that the Best Picture-wimming OLIVER! (a musical telling of the Dickens story "Oliver Twist") had a little over a year earlier. The songs aren't anything to write home about (save one really great one that comes near the end), but Albert Finney is terrific as Scrooge. I'm interested to see if you recognize him from other movies you've reacted to on the channel... same thing with the actor they got to play Marley. I am very curious to see your reaction to JINGLE ALL THE WAY. It gets a lot of hatred, but I've always liked it. It makes me laugh and it's a pretty pointed satire of the commercialization of Christmas. Anyway, looking forward to this week.

Pickupthepieces76

Let it go man. Perhaps Cassie's reaction will enhance the movie to the degree you may actually enjoy it. It would be your own little Christmas miracle.

Richard Maurer

While I agree a lot of people thought it was Scrooged (no way that many people voted for a musical) It's over now. And the YT comments should be funny, if nothing else.

Richard Maurer

something, something, something, CLASSIC HORROR POLL, something, something.

Richard Maurer

From Google - Figgy pudding is a pudding in the British sense of the word, which means it is a steamed cakelike dessert. This particular Christmas version is traditionally made with suet (which is raw beef or mutton fat), eggs, brown sugar, breadcrumbs, spices, dried fruits and, last -- but certainly not least --- brandy

Above Average Dave

Thanks for this, Cassie! So much fun with the charity giving! God bless!

Dan M

I feel your pain Cassie. The holidays are a lot of fun, but it can certainly take the wind out of your sails. But it’s people like you and Carly and the generosity you inherently have that help me sail on again. Thank you for all that you do.

Björn Von Knorring

In both TPM and this one he didn’t got much to work with. As a matter of fact he did what he could. I don’t blame him.

Nathan Bishop

I don't know where you are in Utah, but I am near the SLC area, and some local restaurants I really love are Ab's Drive-In, Leatherby's Family Creamery, Apollo Burger, Seven Brothers Burgers and Lucky Chen (best sweet n' sour chicken in the world)

Rose

Andre Braugher has passed. He was a true legend. Always loved him in “Glory“ as Thomas and also grew up watching him in Homicide: Life on the Street & Brooklyn 99. Such an unbelieveable talent gone too soon! - You have a heart of gold Cassie. You do amazing work for your community and your followers are so generous ❣︎

Happy Hanukkah

R.I.P. And only 61. :-( I also saw him in Gideon's Crossing and probably most enjoyed Men of a Certain Age. (Here's an opportunity for Richard Maurer to push for The Mist (2007). :-) )

Mike Lemon

He was great in City of Angels, that was only a small part though, also in Tuskegee Airmen. For me, he will always be Darkseid (from Superman/Batman: Apocalypse).

Roger Hagerty

It's that time of year! Family, friends, and evidently... figgy pudding!?! Enjoy your time with your family Cassie, and Merry Christmas to all of you!

MotoDork

Look guys, I’m just out here waiting for Star Trek II.

MotoDork

Which, might I add, has the best score of all the films. Kudos to James Horner.

Dean Holt

Sorry I wasn’t having a go at you btw. I just didn’t know if you knew what happened to him.

rakesh

This week on Patron... it seems like a skip week for me personally. Muchas Gracias, Mr. Scrooge! Lol, what on earth! I'll give that a miss. I honestly think people thought they were voting for Bill Murray's "Scrooged" which has already been watched. "Jingle All the Way" pretty much marked the beginning of Arnold's career decline. He attempted to capture the quirkiness of "Twins" with "Junior" and "Eraser," as a sort of "True Lies" action extravaganza, which didn't quite work. And in an attempt to regain his "Kindergarten Cop" audience, he did this. Anything past True Lies is rubbish, even though the last action hero was the one before, it's also dire. Still we have classic Arnold in Red Heat, The Running Man, Conan, Commando and my favourite Total Recall. So plenty of great Arnie left.

Duane A Lavely

Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 can be described as butchery, brutality, & gallons of blood. The Mummy Returns has 2 beautiful women in an artistic combat with ancient weapons. Kill Bill is raw, the Mummy Returns is hot!

Richard Maurer

You said best fight. Then you changed the parameters. Kill Bill still has the best "chick" fights.

Happy Hanukkah

I had completely forgotten his performance (and lip-syncing :-) ) in Duets (2000), which I wouldn't mind re-watching.

Rose

@Happy - Killer scene! I wouldn’t mind re-watching him in Frequency (2000).

John Liebling

I still say Cassie and Carly would enjoy Meet Me In St Louis and the original Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant.

Steve Smith

Scrooge was way better than Scrooged.

Stick Figure Studios

I think it's be interesting if Cassie reacted to every major version of that story: the one with Alistair Sim, the one with Patrick Stewart, the one with George C. Scott, the one with Jim Carrey, etc.

Above Average Dave

The original bishop’s wife with Cary Grant was such a clever movie for its time. building sexual tension of that nature in the 40s and yet keeping true to the theme was not easy! Plus, Cary Grant!

Stick Figure Studios

I'm sure that some people did, but I'm confident it wouldn't have been enough people to have made a difference otherwise. I mean, it won by almost 10% (it had 28% and the next closest title had only 19%). With 785 votes total, that's like 80 people. In all likelihood, SCROOGE still would have won and I'm fine with that. I like the movie. At any rate, they should have paid better attention. That's why they put the release year after the title (SCROOGE came out in 1970 and SCROOGED came out in 1988), so people can know what it is they're voting for. If folks don't actually read the options or know that much about the person whose channel they're patronizing (namely, that she already reacted to the movie you want her to watch), there really isn't anything we can do about that.

Mss Lee

Albert Finney is fantastic in Scrooge and Scrooged is equally entertaining for very different reasons. Ridiculous to dismiss either one.

Mss Lee

I love Scrooge - it’s a classic…I mean they play a parlor game called “the ministers cat” for gods sake 😂

Steve Smith

I have a right to my opinion. I loved Scrooge, didn't like Scrooged, so sue me.

John Liebling

Looking forward to westerns in 2024...Cassie you enjoyed the Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O'hara...take a look at McKlintock. And if you want to watch baby Kevin Costner check out Silverado, it has Danny Glover - from Lethal Weapon. Scott Gleen, from the Right Stuff, he was Axe from Backdraft, and Linda Hunt - she was the principal in Kindergarten Cop, Kevin Klein, you didn't like his character in a Fish Called Wanda - but he's a good person and actor in movies such as "Dave" and "De-Lovely. Unusual for Hollywood actors he's been married to one wife, Phoebe Cates for 34 years, and there is also John Cleese, same guy from a Fish Called Wanda...he's known primarily as a super silly actor from Monty Python.

DAVID COSTELLO

Once Upon A Time In A West would be a good western

Don

Jingle all the way. I hate Christmas movies but I can get behind some sill Arnie fun.

3dbadboy1

It's been 4 days into "this week" where are they? Sry, my anxious anticipation is showing lol.

3dbadboy1

I also loved that brick oven pizza place in Provo. Can't remember the name, it had really good pies and apple beer lol.

Yaisu

If you haven't watched jingle all the way yet, make sure you watch the aftercredits scene

Stick Figure Studios

I would never completely dismiss SCROOGED (or any film for that matter). It has its pleasures, but it is a mess of a movie. An entertaining mess, yes, but a mess nonetheless.

John Liebling

How do you think she'd react seeing Clint Eastwood sort of singing in "Paint Your Wagon"

John Liebling

Big TV recommendation from 1985. The show which made Bruce Willis career. Without it there's be no Die Hard. Its called Moonlighting. Great writing. Lots of action and wit between him and Cybil Shepard. Its currently streaming on Hulu.

Joe M

Finally! Can’t wait for Jingle all the Way 🎄🎄🎄. PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN…NOW!! 🤣🤣🤣

justin swan

Hello Cassie ... could you please throw Pretty Woman, on one of your lists, if you havn't already watched it that is :) ... have a good day

John Liebling

Movies for 2024...Gregory Peck, Ingrid Bergman, and Alfred Hitchcock classic from 1945..."Spellbound" And two Gregory Peck classics about prejudice in America... "Gentleman's Agreement" and "To Kill A Mockingbird 1962. "Big Country" "The Guns of Navarone" and "Cape Fear" are also great Gregory Peck movies. And to add a little trivia...Gregory's grandson plays Spock on the Star Trek series Stranger Worlds.

John Liebling

Long ago when my mom and dad were waiting in their seats for the movie to start. Julia Roberts and her then boyfriend Kiefer Sutherland, both sat behind my parents. Julia kept kicking my mom's seat because she wanted my parents to movie. From that point forward, I never wanted to watch a Julia Roberts movie.

John Liebling

Well, PIB community what do you think? Would Cassie and Carly like the 1975 thriller/mystery "Three-Days of the Condor"
