This was PEAK!! Was it? It was the most FUN! If you would have told me whales in space would have been in ST4, I would not have believed you. There were moments of my Spock, but I still need a montage! So 5 next right? Then TNG episodes? Hope you enjoy!

[Full Reaction] Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)

Robert da Spruce

My personal favorite out of the series. Can’t wait to watch!

Wes

Corny but I love it!!!

hurryupmode

Which TNG episodes/films are you going to watch. There's some amazing ones that aren't the typically recommended episodes that I think you specifically might really enjoy.

Chris Miller

Don't forget about 6. 5 is cringeworthy, not one to say skip a Trek, but if you had to skip one, 5 would be it.

Adam Grunther

While Search for Spock is still my favorite Star Trek movie, this is a very close second. You can tell they had a lot of fun with this movie. Easily the most rewatchable Star Trek film for me.

djKENTO

When I was 5 my parents took me for ice cream and to rent a video. They bought me this movie. The USED vhs tape cost $50 in 1988. I got all 6 classic trek films on 4K Blu-Ray for that a few months back. This is also my favorite trek film. Here’s a fun fact. The bud punk Spock knocks out currently runs the Jim Henson creature shop! This is also the movie that made Leonard Nimoy quit smoking which thankfully kept him in our lives much longer than doctors had warned him. I’m sure you recognized the mom from 7th Heaven. That’s two cast members now! The institute where they keep the whales is actually the Monterey bay aquarium. It’s still open today (though they never kept whales for real). They even have YouTube streams of their fish and other wild life. If you’re ever in California I highly recommend a visit while staying in Carmel which is a gorgeous beach side town that Clint Eastwood used to be the mayor of and it’s where he still lives.

Johnny Salinas

5 kind of. But 6 fires on all cylinders 😊

Jacob Lantom

I wonder what will happen once she gets to first contact

djKENTO

I think a focus on the borg-centric episodes, Q and of course The Inner Light and All Good Things.

Night King01

5 and 6 are next. 5 is you know William Shatner being William Shatner and directing but 6 is truly a nice send off. They got Nicholas Meyer who directed wrath of khan to come back and he does well with it.

Hopefully including Measure Of A Man, Darmok, and some of the fun Holodeck episodes like the ones with Moriarty.

sarCC

At least do VI: The Undiscovered Country before TNG eps. ST5 is not very good. I hope you do alot of TNG episodes. Honestly, I'd suggest you watch more of the TNG series over the TNG movies; they're 2 very different entities. The TNG movies are very action-oriented and kinda dumb. The final season of Picard felt more like a high-budget extension of TNG, while being true to the spirit of the series, much more than any of the movies did.

Christopher B.

There's still Star Trek 5 (The Final Frontier) and Star Trek 6 (The Undiscovered Country, my personal favorite of the classic movies) to go through. After those two movies you're done with the classic Star Trek crew, unless you go to the movie Star Trek Generations (this movie takes place longer after TNG series had started) after watching some Next Generation episodes, but I ****STRONGLY**** recommend not ever bothering with that specific movie, as it works better as a "What If?" story only. To be clear, Star Trek Generations was a movie that was thought up to bridge the gap between classic Trek and Next Generation, but feels like it doesn't lift up either and instead hurts both in the process. Really only something I'd recommend for people dedicated to watching all of Star Trek prior to the rebooted universe (J.J. Abrams Trek, which is also commonly referred to as Kelvin-verse Trek). FYI: Star Trek 6 is not a crossover movie, and is solely original crew.

Mark Vaderr

"Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?"

>>127013823

If she does do some TNG episodes and the TNG movies, I hope she goes on to PICARD. It's a much more satisfying resolution for that crew than the NEMESIS movie.

Texas Anla'Shok

I skipped directly to the part where the Enterprise-A is revealed. Your reaction did not disappoint .

DAVID COSTELLO

I love that this movie kickstarted whale conservation programs and that the humpback whale is no longer on the endangered species list.

>>127013579

Cool story! I also remember buying Star Trek I - VI used at a video rental shop on VHS, when I was a kid. Each tape cost 100 danish kroner, maybe 15-20 dollars today... and if those poor tapes wasn't worn out at that stage, I did my best... damn, I watched those movies again and again... It was only when "First Contact" came out, that I got to see a Star Trek movie on the big screen... and of course... I loved it. And saw it twice in the one short week it ran at my local place... 🖖🖖🖖

djKENTO
>>127013579

I can’t wait for the First Contact reaction. She’s so used to Trek being one kind of thing and then First Contact goes so hard.

djKENTO
>>127013834

If only it was Saavik in VI. That whole story line would hit so hard

Christopher B.

This was the first I'd ever seen of Star Trek. My parents took me along to the theater to watch it with them when my dad was stationed in Japan, and it forever stuck with me and really helped sow the seeds of my Trek love. Great fun movie (even if not my favorite).

Justin Samlal

Cassie whatever you do please DO NOT SKIP 6!! Skip 5 if you have to skip one. 6 is the best star trek movie of all, and a beautiful finale to the story of Kirk and his crew. Please please please do not skip 6!

Brian McGovern

Been busting for this. I think your comments meant you loved it. Don't forget 6. It is a great ending for the OS crew. 5 is a little disappointing, only due to the budget being cut so Bill could not realise his original vision. To me, 5 is more in keeping with the spirit of the original series. I do not mind it from memory, but it would have been a horrible way to say goodbye to the crew.

Astraeos

Oh snap. Here we goooooo! Also just doing some TNG episodes is a huge disservice. I understand you can't dive into the whole show on the channel, but I absolutely implore you to watch the entirety of The Next Generation, in your own time at least. It's honestly something everyone should see, every single episode. There's just so much humanity, so much greatness.

John Liebling

Couldn't stop laughing. Cassie you're wearing Vulcan ears. Very cool.

Hail to the King

I have nothing but love for this movie. Critical analysis doesn't even apply, it's pure joy

Randolph Tirazona

A famous quote:"Try it you'll like it." So here's the thing, if Cassie likes it I love it! I'm sure many of us feel this way! YAY! How does Carly feel about Star Trek?!? We wanna know! 😆

Gábor Árki

I'm really looking forward to watching this. There are two more movies with the original cast. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, which is the Rocky 5 of the franchise. But still has some good character moments. And Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, which is the swan song of this crew and a worthy send off. How to continue? There are actually two options after VI: A) The Next Generation era If you follow the release order, then TNG is the next. There are 7 seasons (178 episodes) of the series followed by 4 movies. There are also two spin-off series: DEEP SPACE NINE with 7 seasons (176 episodes) and VOYAGER with also 7 seasons (172 episodes). Then recently we got a continuation in the for of PICARD, which now has 3 seasons, and also builds on events and characters of the two spin-off series, not just TNG. Given the sheer amount of content it will be very hard to tackle this era, especially because its true strength are the series. My recommendation would be to sample the TNG series with at least 6-8 episodes. But these shouldn't be just voted in as the "best", I think they should be also focused to give some context and character introduction prior to the movies. Then follow these with the 4 movies. I would put aside the rest of the content. B) The reboot movies Given these 3 movies are rebooting the original, it is also possible to continue with them at this point. So, you could see a different take on the same characters by a different cast and crew while the experience is fresh.

Hiraoka Toru

Does anyone here think Star Trek Generations is a good movie?

James UK

This was the most fun but ST6, the final movie of the original crew, might be my favourite. That comes before TNG so please don’t forget about it.

Christopher B.
>>127017121

If I'm honest: I kind of hate it. I like the idea of it, generally, and there are moments in it that I love, but as a whole I really think it might be my most disliked (or at least tied with Nemesis) Star Trek movies.

Christopher B.
>>127013823

If I may for a moment be the obnoxious Trek super-fan: only Season 3 of Picard, though. Seasons 1 and 2 of Picard are a near-complete betrayal of TNG's crew, and best left unobserved and forgotten to time.

Patrick Flanagan
>>127017121

Seeing the characters on the big screen is fun, and the Enterprise-D looks gorgeous, but the script has a "laundry list" feel to me. It never quite gels together. Not terrible though

Gábor Árki
>>127016836

My TNG episode recommendations that I think should be included: 1x01-02 - ENCOUNTER AT FARPOINT (for introducing the main cast and another recurring guest star, whose character might not make sense without this if another episode with him is included) 2x09 - THE MEASURE OF A MAN (a great character episode for not just one but two members, also a genre Cassie really likes) 2x16 - Q WHO? 3x26/4x01 - THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS (probably everyone agrees to these :D) 5x02- DARMOK (another good character centric episode) 5x18 - CAUSE AND EFFECT (just to have one where the typical crew dynamic is showcased)

Michael Enos

Awesome reaction.. There are 2 more with just the original cast. 5 and 6.. 5 gets a lot a flak.. IMHO the series takes a hit here as far as quality but I believe there will be things you still love about 5. 6 restores much of what was lost and IMO puts a great ending onto the series. After 6 is Generations. This will feature the Next Generation cast with returning original cast members.

sharkey197

Cassie mentioned several times about how great the Star Trek world seemed in comparison to now. That was a so important part of the appeal of the show. During the tumultuous times of the sixties, it depicted a world that was peaceful and without prejudice, advancements that made life safer and more productive and showed an optimistic future. That is why is so beloved by so many people my age --71--because it recalls to us that feeling of hope and promise. The films wisely continued that theme, none more so than this one. It is esp important in 6 that you understand it reflected the real world break up of the Soviet Union and what that meant for the world at that time. It was a treat watching you watch this and seeing you discover the whole Star Trek universe for the first time.

Shawn Kildal

The 7th movie is the crossover movie which is called Star Trek Generations. So you still have 2 movies with the original crew left before The Next Generation TV episodes.

Patrick Flanagan

STAR TREK V is universally considered awful but I don't agree. It's very clunky and has numerous script problems, but the chemistry between Kirk, Spock and McCoy is still there, I actually like the bad guy's performance, and there's a great scene with McCoy which is one of my favorite STAR TREK moments. STAR TREK VI was intended to wrap up the series for the original crew. WRATH OF KHAN director Nicholas Meyer came back and the villain is one of the biggest actors to ever take on STAR TREK. Used to be my favorite but it's settled back a bit in the running order. After VI, Paramount made plans to move the NEXT GENERATION crew into movies, and created two new TV series to replace NEXT GEN on the air. The Original Series (TOS) takes place 300 years in the future from when it was broadcast - an episode which aired in 1966 took place in 2266. For NEXT GEN, it was about 100 years in the future from TOS - seven seasons, spanning from 2364 to 2370. The first NEXT GEN movie, STAR TREK: GENERATIONS, is the crossover movie you mentioned between the Original Series and NEXT GEN crews, with three more films after that from 1996 to 2002. As you said you should probably watch a handful, maybe 5-8, episodes of TNG to get a feel for the new characters and new concepts. There are several "must watch" episodes for which there are probably a hundred online suggestion lists to guide you. After that, Paramount didn't know what to do and decided to reboot the series, sort of, with STAR TREK (2009), which is with Chris Pine as Kirk. I hate these movies with a passion but they have their fans, I guess.

ENC SW DV Rush

Star Trek 7 is the crossover, not 6, need to do 6 before ST TNG. Another great reaction. There were moments that things were a little corny or campy, but still one of my favorites for the movies - ST The undiscovered country is my personal favorite of the original ST movies.

Neill Shaughness

One of my favorite moments in all of Star Trek is Kirk getting demoted back to Captain and the whole room applauds.

Pearl Jam

There’s 6 movies with the original cast. #7 continues with the next generation.

Brian McGovern

Oh my goodness. 😂 Cassie with her Vulcan ear. That’ll do me.

James UK
>>127016836

I think my preference would be option B. Then go back to TNG, but it’s not something I have a particularly strong opinion on .

Ryan

Fantastic

Caomhan84

Ahhh, Star Trek 4. "The fun one" of the franchise....with the undercover Christmas theme music. 😂 So glad you loved it! As others have said, you have 2 more movies with the original crew to go before the TNG episodes. Star Trek 6 in particular is a good movie. After that, I think you should watch about five or six TNG episodes. I know that you only watched four of the original series, but I think a little more TNG is important because you need to get a better flavor of what the show was like (and it was long and varied), in addition to one of the major story arcs that people are going to recommend (and that story arc alone takes up 4 episodes). But the strength of TNG was also the slice of life and ethical episodes too. So hopefully people recommend a few of those.

djKENTO

When you’re done with this trek Journey you may want to check out Strange New Worlds. It takes place a few years before the original series, before Kirk was captain. But Spock is still there and you learn a LOT about his past.. There’s even an episode where Spock tries to be more human like his mom. It’s a great show and still running now.

Anthony Perez

Cassie wearing those ears she would fit right in at Rivendell.

Brian Lowery

For my generation, the Challenger explosion was the “where were you…?” moment. I was in an auditorium at my elementary school, ready to watch it live. The whole room went silent when we realized what happened. Seven lives, gone.

Chrissonator

5 and 6 then some TNG, before moving onto 7, 8, 9, and 10. :)

sarCC
>>127013823

Agreed. One of my favorite things about Season 3 is that it ignores things from Season 2.

Chrissonator
>>127017121

I really like it overall, for the most part, short of a particular thing, which I shall not mention, for the sake of spoilers. lol

Chrissonator
>>127017839

Yea, it was a shame that Bill got shafted on the VFX side of things because of ILM being busy with Star Wars, and the budget constraints. :(

Astraeos

Definitely don't skip 6, 7 is the crossover, thats Generations. 6 is the final TOS specific movie. Definitely don't skip it before watching TNG stuff.

Matthew Linson

Hey Cassie, just to let you know, there is two more with the original crew though, in my opinion, they are not nearly as good but still worth the watch. Then it's off to the crossover and The Next Generation. Great reaction! Looking forward to more. Live Long and Prosper. 🖖🏻🐋🚀

John Liebling

There is a 5 and 6 with the same Shatner crew. The cross over is called "Generations" And that film is average...no spoilers, you'll have to watch and see...The one you'll really like is "First Contact" that's an excellent Star Trek movie. There are two more after that. "Insurrection" again more of an average, and "Nemiss" which is a stinker.

Ben Livingstone

There's Brock Peters, Tom Robinson himself!

Robin T
>>127017121

I do, mostly. Mostly it's workmanlike - fine if not inspired. But I think the Nexus scenes are fantastic and elevate the weak parts. *That* scene is definitely a weak part, but even then I think mostly because the lead-up isn't well paced and it's rather awkwardly staged. Thematically it works and the performances are great. Overall I'd say it's a product of TV people trying to make a movie, a problem that dogs all the TNG films to some degree.

Mike LL

I had to get up in the middle of the night and watch the first half of this one. I got to the part where Cassie is just beginning to recognize Catherine Hicks from Seventh Heaven. I knew she would love this movie. The amount of hilarious comedy in the film was only exceeded by the voluminous quantities of hair dye necessary to keep the aging cast from seeming gray.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

So in Riverside Iowa, there is something called Trek fest it's the imaginary home of Captain Kirk. So every year they have this festival. I actually worked security for the Casino there . At first I thought it was kind of cool to see the elaborate costumes. Most people had on different uniforms. People would come in and speak Vulcan to me. When I asked them questions. While I ID them and I would play along. Like I said it was fun at first..... Well this went on for a few years snd It started to take it's tole on me. The last year I was there. I told the guard standing next to me while checking IDs that the next person to come in and speak Vulcan to me I am going to put them in there place. It happened to be a 20 something old guy. He answered the questions in Vulcan. So I said well I understand English, Ich verstehe auch Deutsch (German) Tuigim Gaeilge freisin (Irish) or I can speak Lakota (Sioux) I also understand a little ic pro efne maðelian ealdian Englisc (old English) but I don't currently speak a made up language from some Movie T.V. franchise. The guy sank and put his head down. Needless to say that worked and he stopped talking in Vulcan. It actually felt good to put some Trekkie in his place. It felt so good I did it a few more times. After that and no one dared to speak Vulcan to me.

John Liebling

We are all excited that you're having so much fun with Star Trek. Before you reacted to any movies you watched 4 episodes. That's four out of 80...or for every 20 episodes you watched one. The Next Generation rain for a full 7 years. A total of 177 episodes. What I am going to suggest is something you might not want to do, but it would be fun to take a long Next Generation journey before you react to any of the movies. I've selected 13 which will really inform and help you to appreciate the characters before you watch the movie(s) 1. S2 E9 Measure of a Man 2. S2 E16 Q-Who? 3. S3 E16 The Offspring 4. S3 E23 Sarek 5. S3 E26 Best of Both Worlds part one 6. S4 E1 Best of Both Worlds part two 7. S4 E2 Family 8. S5 E7 Unification Part one 9. S5 E8 Unification Part two 10. S5 E26 Time's Arrow Part one 11. S6 E1 Time's Arrow Part two 12. S6 E15 Tapestry 13. S7 E25 All Good Things Watching 13 out of 177 is a ration of a little more than 1 to 13. I hope you're able to watch all 13 before you start the Next Generation movies. There are four in all, but only one is very good and that is called, "First Contact" Congratulations in growing your platform into a very enjoyable watch for all PIB subscribers and Patreon.

>>127018248

I think the '09 Star Trek is quite a good movie if you don't know anything about Trek. It just completely misunderstands the characters and the whole world and genre of the series (my feeling at the time was how obvious it was that JJ Abrams really wanted to be making a Star Wars movie instead). Into Darkness however is bad and borderline incoherent by any standard, and I've heard mixed messages about Beyond but haven't seen it. But the thing I like least about those movies is how they soured my first impression of Chris Pine, who I have since discovered is actually amazing. In fact he'd probably make a great Kirk in a movie that doesn't have him confused for Maverick from Top Gun.

John Liebling

Cassie, I thought you'd pick up on where you've seen Catherine Hicks before. You caught the dad from 7th Heaven in Star Trek the Motion Picture. She played his wife.

Rod Reavern

The Voyage Home is definitely the most feel-good of all the Star Trek films. Luv Cassie’s Vulcan ears! And her funny attempts to perform the Vulcan salute. I believe most Trekkies will agree that Cassie can skip Star Trek V: The Final Frontier… however, I’m certain Cassie’s reaction will be worthy watching. I’m eager to watch Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country, which is the last of the TOS films. I’m interested in which Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes Cassie will watch. It’s safe to assume that “Q Who” and “The Best of Both Worlds, Parts I & II” will be on her watch list as homework for you-know-which-TNG-film. I wonder if Cassie will understand who and what Q is unless she watches the series premiere: “Encounter at Farpoint, Parts I & II”? I also believe the episode “Family” is important to watch for insights in Picard’s character vital for Star Trek: Generations. The episode “Datalore” and “The Neutral Zone” are important episodes for understanding Star Trek: Nemesis. Cassie will probably also want to watch “Unification, Parts I & II” and “Relics” for reasons Trekkies will understand and agree. I know that’s A LOT of “homeworld” but I hope Cassie watches them!

John Liebling

Not sure what your plans are for the Enterprise crew with Chris Pine. They've made three films. No spoilers. There are some interesting things you'll notice now that you've watched so many star trek movies.

Shawn Kildal

Had the pleasure of watching this on opening weekend. Possibly my favorite theater experience, a lot had to do with the audience. When they showed the new Enterprise at the end, such gasp and applause from everyone. It was a standing ovation from all! I'm so happy Cassie "loved it". We all knew she would. A quick note, in the novel, when Kirk and McCoy were initially in discussions about time travel, they do talk the "arch thingy" aka The Guardian of Forever and what happened during those events. Especially what happened with Edith Keeler. Kirk is still haunted by it.

Brian McGovern

I was waiting for Cassie to recognise Catherine Hicks. She recognised her as a mother in something. I thought it would click or she would look up IMDB and see she was the mother on 7th Heaven wasn’t it? Never watched the show but know she was in it.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

This is my favorite movie with the original cast, partly nostalgia because it was the first Star Trek movie I saw as a kid and I watched it over and over, but also the humor of the crew being fishes out of water, still so funny. Glad Cassie liked it too and I'm super excited we'll get to see some Next Generation together, gonna be a good time!

Just Plain Bob

Cassie, you mentioned a desire to see a montage of Kirk and Spock laughing and hugging, etc., as an indication that Spock had recovered his memories. Such a montage would be VERY brief. Emotional outbursts by Spock are extremely rare. You saw one when he found Kirk alive at the end of the Amok Time episode. He displayed overt emotion in one other episode I can think of. At other times, he might show some slight annoyance or other vague hint of emotion, but even that was uncommon. It was part of Leonard Nimoy’s genius that he was able to portray the character in such a way as to make viewers love the character while remaining very understated. Also, you mentioned that you’d heard that Vulcans felt thing very deeply. That’s correct from my understanding as well. In fact, if memory serves, I believe I remember that it was explained in one episode of one of the series that this deep feeling was a primary reason they developed logic. Otherwise they were in constant danger of devolving into mindless violence.

christopher b swanson

5 is horrid............skip, ask any trek fan.....................

Odd Thomas

5 is awful but even that has some great moments. Then comes 6 which is probably my second favourite OG movie. I hope you watch 7 too as it has both crews and is just a great movie.

Caomhan84

Okay, done with the reaction now. Can I just say.... It is utterly delightful to see how Cassie has taken to Star Trek, almost like a duck to water. It doesn't usually go this easy, introducing a new fan. Lord knows I have tried and it's usually.... difficult. But it's lovely to see how excited she gets now, just to watch these movies. I certainly hope that she takes to the TNG crew as well as she's taken to the original crew. But also, watching these movies again for the first time in probably 10-15 years, It's bittersweet to see the actors. Only three of them are left now.

Shawn Kildal

Idea for a poll. ST5 or 2 or 3 more iconic episodes in its place. I bet the episodes would win. Maybe even in a landslide. Star Trek 6 The Undiscovered Country is the perfect farewell for our OG crew of the Enterprise.

Mike Lemon
>>127019397

"Seven lives, gone." Eventually. It is thought they survived the explosion.

Mike Lemon

"Then TNG episodes?" Sigh... How about variety instead of another bajillion episode single franchise?

MertzRocks
>>127022753

Yes she was Mom in 7th Heaven just as Stephen Collins (Captain/Commander Decker in ST:TMP) was Dad in that show.

Caomhan84
>>127026761

She meant which ones she's going to watch, similar to the TOS episodes. She watched 4 of those. She's not going to watch 178 TNG episodes. Don't worry about that. 😂 There's probably going to be anywhere from 4-6 TNG episodes before the TNG movies

MertzRocks

I can't go thru 90 comments so IDK if any other Patrons notice this: When they are still on Vulcan and Kirk looks up to see Spock atop the cliff, That cliff is at the same location where at least three ST:TOS S1 episodes were filmed. It's just shot from a different angle. Arena, Shore Leave and The Alternative Factor were all filmed there. A quick search reveals it is called Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park. Ah something just occurred to me that I should have thought of a long time ago, esp since I'm old enough to have seen ST:TOS when it originally aired (unfortunately I only saw S3 LOL but beside the point) They were on Vulcan! Why didn't ANYONE (Mister Scott...?) think about getting new dilithium crystals while they were there? Oh, because then the movie wouldn't be as good... Okay... LOL Last edit: IDK how many times I have seen this but this was the first time I noticed (in the credits) that Jane Wiedlin from the 80s band The Go-Go's plays an 'Alien Communications Officer'. Now I have to look for her next time lol. She was also in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure as Joan of Arc.

Mike Lemon
>>127026761

There are double the episodes of TNG as TOS, people are going to be clamoring for more watched, then there are four movies, but we can't forget about DS9 or Voyager or Enterprise or Discovery or Picard, and while we're at it we may as well get The Animated Series...it never ends.

Mojo One Thousand

I sat thinking I had Deja vu, thinking that Catherine Hicks (Gillian) would be recognised from 7th Heaven, and was waiting for you Cassie to say 7th Heaven, especially when you thought she was a mother. Then I realised that it was Stephen Collins from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and they played spouses on 7th Heaven. Still surprised Catherine Hicks wasn't placed. Been a while since I have seen this, it was my first Star Trek experience as child and I enjoyed as I was a big fan of space generally as a kid, despite not having the context of the characters, but I think my folks did tell me it was part of a bigger franchise even though they weren't particularly fans of it. Although not a Star Trek fan, I do have a better appreciation for the characters as time has gone on. I also had a smile when there was chuckle the Chekov said "Wessel" and Cassie got a kick out of it, as I then knew she would enjoy Chekov trying to find the "wessels in Alameda" bit. I think I still sometimes (at least in my head) still call ships "wessels" from time to time as a nod to Chekov.

I've always loved it. Very nostalgic for me. I was 10 when it came out and it was the first Trek movie I really remember being in theaters. My mom was pregnant with my little sister at the time too. 1994 was a good year for my family and this movie reminds me of that.

Odd Thomas
>>127017121

It's excellent, literally the best of both worlds. Great action, great villain too.

JPDotCom23

When they crash land into San Francisco Bay, the tank they shot those scenes in is the same Paramount tank they shot the final scenes of 'Patriot Games' in, with Harrison Ford and Sean Bean.

Brian Lowery

Honestly, I would watch 5-6, and then watch the three reboot films. The reason being, the reboots have nothing to do with the next generation, nor will they spoil anything for you. Then, go into TNG.

Matt Rose

Don't skip ST V. It has its fans (my good friend cites it as his personal favorite of the first 6 films) and it may appeal to you.

JPDotCom23

This crew's final voyage is 'Star Trek VI; The Undiscovered Country', before it's handed off to 'TNG' crew in 'Generations'.

MertzRocks
>>127026761

LOL... But just 83; 93 if you count House of the Dragon S1, and 8 more to come in S2 makes 101. But yeah I get the point. I also think Cassie doesn't need that level of violence in her reaction watching, even as much as I love that show (esp S1-6, but the rest doesn't out-and-out s**k imo...).

For the tennis playing fans, the ‘captain’ of one of the Federation ships destroyed was of Indian descent. He was on a transmission as his ship was destroyed. Thats Vijay Amritaj, he had several successful years on the pro tour. Further, the names of the important Federation ships, including ‘Enterprise’ are taken from the US Aircraft Carriers that fought in the Pacific in WWII. ‘Enterprise,’ ‘Yorktown,’ ‘Saratoga,’ all of these were the US Aircraft Carriers that fought in the Pacific. Also in the Star Trek canon are some other historically named vessels. Chekov’s origin had him serving about ‘USS Potemkin,’ which was the actual flagship of an ill-fated Russian fleet’s journey all the way around the world which was destroyed within hours of its final destination by the Japanese fleet. The writers of this show knew their naval History.

Having Cassie liking Star Trek is a lot like one of my teams having a losing season. You kind have to ride out the bad year till it gets better the next year. That's what I am doing riding out the movies I have absolutely no interest in. To get to the good ones. Bruce Lee kung fu movies, Sharon Tate movies. The few Tarantino movies she hasn't seen. Wolverine. #Goblue Jimmy Stewart movies, Romcom's Any movie that deals with real life events minus real life horror movies or movies that are straight up lies, like JFK.

Walter

I have watched and enjoyed pretty much all of the Star Trek shows and movies. I do enjoy this one, even though it's best enjoyed if you don't think about it too much. Like a lot of people, I don't remember liking 5 but I am interested in revisiting it again, since it has been so long. 6 is a great film. I di9dn't know Cassie was gonna dive into TNG too - I guess she has turned into a real Trekkie! I have always preferred DS9 personally, though I don't see her diving into that. But I do wish she'd watch the Trouble With Tribbles/DS9 crossover - such a fantastic episode and tribute to the original crew.

thansen

A fun Star Trek film, The Voyage Home offers some very nice scenes here and there but the overall story is a bit too silly. Maybe my least favorite score. But at least it isn't Star Trek V.

I empathize with the feeling of her not doing a movie you like for awhile, but for me it's not because of Trek. There have been entire months where she didn't watch a single film I liked (it was around the time she watched the Godfather, which is a terrible film for me--but to each their own), and I know it sucks. I'm a lifelong Trekker, though, so her doing Trek, to me, is the most fun I've had on the channel since Firefly.

Art of Free Speech

Simply my favorite Trek film of any iteration (First Contact is a close second). I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Ike

Wow! I said earlier that Star Trek: The Voyage Home was the BEST in-theater experience I’ve ever had. Like many here, I was in school in January ‘86 when we all watched the very first school teacher to go into space on the Space Shuttle “Challenger.” It was televised live in schools - especially here in the United States - and it ended in horribly. Some kids were honestly traumatized. We were inundated all year with daily news of NASA investigations, possible conspiracy, congressional hearings, whether or not NASA’s space program will continue and of course the televised funeral for the lost astronauts. But then later that year…. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home came out that November and it uplifted all of us! I remember seeing this with my folks. The audience were all older adults and their kids - no doubt fans of the television series. The music, the familiar faces of the crew, the humor, the Star Trek technology and a future we may have forgotten might be possible. It was the best in-theater experience because of everyone laughing and applauding throughout the film. Not even Return of the Jedi got this kind of reaction. No, not the jeering, almost raucous behavior of the Marvel movie crowds, but clapping that you can tell was hopeful, inspiring and proud. Ex. The scene where the crew beamed from the hospital elevator - the music pauses - and they reappear in Golden Gate Park to the last note of the orchestra got a standing ovation. It was the right movie at exactly the right time with the cast and crew that were doing it before Apollo and the moon landings. I truly think this movie helped people, including those at NASA, get back on their feet. So, watching your experience this morning was very familiar and equally gratifying! Thanks Cassie - I’m happy you’re enjoying these characters : )

Nice Touch with the Emoji, a lot of people automatically have that 80's misconception that all Trekkies are nerds that's simply not true. My best friend is a Trekkie and he married a very beautiful woman, and has beautiful 1 year old daughter who I absolutely adore. Recently I was in LA and spent the day with his wife and daughter and we went to the Reptile Zoo in LA. She told me she doesn't like that her husband is a Trekkie but she focuses on the parts of him she loves. Plus her husband is the farthest thing from a Nerd, he played football and baseball with me. I know you were only joking though.

Ike

Yea, I truly think SNW is the best of all of them.

Ike
>>127017121

I like it. For that series I think Generations in 3rd place behind First Contact and Insurrection. Nemesis is probably my least favorite.

Cody Nelson

There are 6 Star Trek movies with the original cast and the 7th movie(Star Trek Generations) is the crossover movie with the Next Generation cast. So I recommend starting TNG after you watch 6. I would also concur with what other people are saying on here that, while I would not force you to watch all 178 episodes of TNG since that would be way too much for the channel, 4 episodes are simply not going to be enough. I recommend 8-10 at least. TNG is much more of an ensemble cast than the original series and thus more episodes will be needed to really get to know the characters properly. Plus at least 3-4 episodes are needed to set up Star Trek: First Contact (one of my favorite ST movies). Plus, only 2 of the 4 TNG movies are good so I would consider the show to be the main event more so than the movies. Though I do think you will love First Contact when you get to it. Of course, I'll watch and support whatever you want to do but I think 10 episodes isn't too much since you did watch 14 episodes of FireFly and loved it. :) Anyway, I'm so glad you love ST 4 and I'm so happy and excited to see you continue on your journey as a Trekkie. Live long and prosper Cassie!

Cody Nelson

I'll also add that, while Star Trek 5 is not one of the better movies, I still have a soft spot for it and think it's worth watching at least once. I already know you're going to like 6 :)

Mike LL
>>127027960

As far as the dilithium crystals question, they were just fine and didn't need replacing until they time travelled and got fried.

Yaisu

So ends the trilogy within the series.

Tara

Cassie, are you watching the newer movies with Chris Pine? I think there is an actor from those movies you like to see... 😉

Mike LL
>>127042441

I also can testify that the in-theater response to this movie when it was released was fantastic. The audience howled with laughter throughout the film. This Star Trek movie was the most popular one with the non-Star Trek fan general movie going audience, and had the highest domestic box office of all the original cast member films.

Clay F

"Tell her I feel fine." Spock was my favorite character in this one. Super cool when early in the movie he got into the aquarium with the whales. I thought the Klingon in court making assertions was well done. I am glad the Starfleet physical fitness requirements are not that stringent -- we need Scotty -- that guy is a genius and knows how to make it so, though that 15 seconds of him typing on the 80s computer was weird. Entertaining movie, but I didn't remember how cheesy at times from when I watched it in the late 80s. I like man's extinction of the whales being a "villain" aspect (and "illogical" per Spock). Cool concept going to Earth in the late 20th century. Though I find Star Trek: First Contact (1996) more entertaining in that aspect. Below is my personal ranking of most entertaining to me of the first four, and not an objective evaluation of what is the "best" movie: I (director's cut) III II IV Now onto rewatch V and VI when Cassie does her reactions.

D. T. Nelson

I could suffer through ST5 for your reaction. It broke with the world building and the "humor" was not that effective, but if you must see it, then go ahead. You MUST see Star Trek 6, though. That is, in my opinion, one of the best of the original cast movies—you don't want to miss it. The sixth movie ties in more directly to movies 2-4 (the fifth movie is a stand alone adventure with little ties to the other movies). ST6: The Undiscovered Country is also a good setup for going into the Next Generation series as far as the history between the Federation and Klingon Empire is concerned.

2-Can

So much for a better kiss, Cassie. As Carly would say, “She’s a runner”.

Jason Hoppenworth

Can we have a poll on if you should skip Star Trek V and go straight to VI?

Mike Lemon
>>127026761

@Cassie- Exactly. Look at it from the other side, 1/3 of the variety is gone in an instant. Trek fans love it, after all they get 20ish of "their 'movies'(1) " watched, but everybody else is like, "well, maybe there will be something interesting in the other *two*, and maybe she'll watch one of 'my movies' by 2035." During one of the other long franchises, I know I went a month or more before something caught my eye and there were others saying similar things in the comments. That is always a risk for this type of channel, but when you cut variety by 1/3 the risk goes up a lot. (1)-movies and weekly slots used for show episodes

Joseph H Searles

My vote is to watch Star Trek 5. Despite the errors which bothered me when I watched it in the theatre it does have it's good moments. On a side note, although it's never been confirmed, there is a fan theory that the reason Saavik stayer on Vulcan with Spock's mother is because she became pregnant while she was helping Spock through pon farr.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)
>>127038642

To each their own is absolutely true. I thought Firefly was bad show that doesn't make it true. I loved the X files so go figure. I dislike Star Trek but really like Star Wars. I wish I could figure myself out. I think though that is the point. That everyone just have fun. That actually says something about your character that you could hold out for that long waiting till you get to something she watches that you like.

Silver Machine

Great reaction, Cassie. Thank you! The next one is definitely the weakest of the original films. But the key to enjoying it, I think, is to approach it more like a big-budget episode of the original TV show rather than a continuation of the tone and character development shown in the previous films. Star Trek V isn’t as smart or layered as the earlier films, even though it tries to tackle a profound subject. It’s just a straight-forward adventure story that probably would have worked better as a one-hour TV episode. (But Star Trek VI is fantastic, and a worthy curtain call for the original crew!)

Matt Rose
>>127041402

it's my least favorite score as well (I much prefer the bombast of Goldsmith or Horner) but the lighter tone of the music works really well with the tone of the film itself.

Just Plain Bob
>>127018248

I was starting to think I was the only one here that didn’t like the reboot movies. I feel they fall far short of the original series and the films starring the original crew. I also wasn’t a fan of the movies with the Next Generation cast, although I was a big fan of the series itself.

Christopher Alvarez

You have to watch 6. 6 is the perfect finale and epilogue to the original series. Then watch TNG and 7. 7 is the crossover movie.

Tara

Question though... should Cassie watch the newer movies with these same characters (Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura, Chekov) before moving to TNG with a new set of characters?

John Liebling

Cassie once you're done with the first 6 Star Trek movies it might be fun for you to string together bloopers and outtakes from the original TV and all six movies and react to that. Most are very funny. There shouldn't be an issue of copywrite since they are already on youtube.

John Liebling
>>127060181

I like her current plan to take on Next Generation first. Perhaps by the time she's ready to watch the three Chris Pine ST, we'll have a date for their ST4.

pinkdino99

I have not seen you grin from ear to ear in a movie like this before ! We saw this as teens at the cinema and thought it was great fun. Catching it in later life it had not aged well, but now as an adult this is such an 80s nostalgia time capsule.

shireknight

5, then 6, then TNG episodes, then Generations I guess 😊

p0sthum4n

You're right, Vulcans do have feelings. While humans feel a constant stream of emotions at all time, sometimes mild, sometimes strong, Vulcans feel their emotions in bursts of great intensity. They were a savage and warlike people in their past and almost wiped themselves out. This led to their embracing of pure logic and the practice of suppressing their emotions.

Thomas Thompson

I forgot about the dream sequence when they travel back in time I really like that reminds me a lot of 1970s science fiction if I got a vote, I would have to say the lathe of heaven from 1980 is an absolute must see it was the first original movie produced by PBS based on the novel by Ursula Leguin couldn’t find the film on Amazon, but it appears the entire film has been uploaded to YouTube Even if you don’t watch it for the channel or Patreon if you really like science fiction, it’s an absolute must see

Jason Dolan

The correct continuation order is Star Trek V The Final Frontier Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country, then jump ahead to the JJ Abrams Trilogy, then you go to Next Generation and watch Generations, First Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis!

Rick Williams

I always loved this fun movie. Great Reaction Cassie. And you are having a good hair day. The ears make you look like an Elf from Lord of the Rings. Cassie you failed to recognize one of your favorite men. Nathan Fillion from Firefly. He played one of the cops at the hospital that chased them. Its understandable. He was very young and it was a small part.

Katie Jackson

I'm so glad you liked this one so much! Your smile throughout was contagious and had me smiling to(even though I had a massive headache). I'm sure you've been told dozens of times but you have 2 more movies before The Next Generation episodes. It's still hard to narrow down a list of episodes. There are so many that truly are amazing and moving. 4 are absolutely essential. Ok, here goes. EPISODES TO WATCH BEFORE STAR TREK GENERATIONS: *Encounter at Farpoint (2 part pilot)S1xE1 *The Measure Of A Man S2xE9 *Q-Who? S2xE16(ESSENTIAL) *Sarek S3xE23 *The Best Of Both Worlds (2 parts)S3E26 & S4E1 (ESSENTIAL) *Family S4xE2(ESSENTIAL) *Unification S5xE7&8 (2 parts) *The Inner Light S5xE25 IF YOU DECIDE TO DO MORE EPISODES: *Skin Of Evil & Yesterday's Enterprise(Kind of a 2 parter) *The Offspring (Data Episode) *Menage A Troi & Second Chances(Star Trek Rom Com) *The Drumhead, Darmok, I Borg, Face Of The Enemy, Relics, The Most Toys & Attached (Great stand alone episodes) *All Good Things (2 Parts) (Series Finale) Hope that helps. I'm curious to see what other fans think about how many episodes and which ones.

Scott Macaulay

"They're gonna find out he's Russian and FREAK OUT!" Oh man did I laugh. Thank you for another great reaction

RJ MacReady

There are 6 movies with the original cast, ST5 isn't that good though it does have some good character moments. Don't feel deflated after it lol, Star Trek 6 is on par with 2 and 4. Looking forward to your ST6 reaction!! Then after 6 begins TNG then Generations is the crossover movie.

>>127077774

I think that first list hits the mark. Ideally you want Yesterday's Enterprise on the first list, but you need the other for that and that doesn't deserve to be on any list on it's own. I'd say add Elementary, Dear Data and Cause & Effect to the first list and make it an even 10 (counting 2 parters as one). I would swap out Menage A Troi and Second Chance for Tapestry, Parallels and Disaster in the second list.

Pickupthepieces76

Wearing Vulcan ears, making pon farr jokes. Come on now, this is one of my favorite reactions. Lassie, you need to start a second channel dedicated to Star Trek and watch every Star Trek episode ever made. "Popcorn in Space"

Pickupthepieces76

ST: V is more like a long episode and if viewed like that, it's pretty decent. Also, some very nice character moments which Cassie will certainly enjoy. Even though it may still be her least favourite movie of the bunch, I think she will still enjoy it a lot more than some Trekkies... I predict it will be something like what happened with Rocky V.

Doc Larry

After you watch Star Trek movie six I think it would be a good idea to watch two episodes from each season of next generation. Then watch the seventh movie, which is the crossover movie.

Cole Jennett
>>127060181

I don’t see any reason to do that honestly. Release order will give her a nice break from the original cast, which should give her enough time to miss them before the reboot.

>>127072084

That wasn't Nathan Fillion, it was Joe Lando (Sully from Dr. Quinn). But they do totally look alike.

Hey Lemon, why aren't you making Mike-n-aide? No reason to be a downer. Most of us are looking forward to more Cassie reaction with all sorts of TV and Movie Trek. The new JJ Abrams movies are not horrible. And Cassie is enjoying what she's watching. No reason why Cassie can't give her own two cents regarding the difference between William Shatner and Chris Pine...the different story lines and execution of 1980s films and 21st Century films. And it's also helping her to attract more subscribers and Patrons.

John Liebling
>>127070345

You think Cassie would enjoy the original Time Machine from 1960. I liked it and did not care for the remake. I would also say that the 1960 version could be a Carly watch, while the more recent remake would be problematic for her.

JRCortez

This brought back some fond memories. Unfortunately, in trying to watch along using Paramount+ I discovered they removed all ST: TOS (plus others) from their listings!! But they still have all the TV series. Which makes no sense (to me anyway)......

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

So according to IMDB Catherine Hicks as in Chucky's Mom was in this? Cassie would know her better as the Mom on 7th Heaven. I see they shot it in San Francisco, (be sure to wear a flower in your hair.) I wouldn't mind Cassie watching Godzilla movies except for that travesty of movie that just had Zilla in it.

Sample-Text

They use the popular shows to drive new subscription signups, then shop them around to other streaming services. Most people probably won't cancel Paramount+ once they are subscribed and that way they can double dip. They get the new subscriptions and also license fees for the same show. It's why nothing stays in one place for very long. It's all about getting paid for the same show over and over and over again.

Rob Findlay

I almost died at "spockland" love ya Cassie! Waving from Ogden.

Bubba Fett

6 original series movies, generations(7) is the crossover with 8 9 and 10 being the TNG movies. I would watch TNG before going into generations as it came out after the show ended and there are some important plot points it's feeds on. Also getting to TNG episodes, the season 2 episode "Q Who" and season 3 finally "best of both Worlds" which pairs with the season 4 opener "wolf 359" are essential plot points going into the TNG movies. Given the plots of the TNG movies I really think you're going to need a deeper dive than in TOS with probabaly no less than 10 episodes. 3 that pair for Star Trek 8 and at least 2 maybe 3 for Star Trek 10 then 3 to 5 more just good quality episodes spread out. 2 or 3 Worf centric episodes if you really want a deep dive in Klingon society.

Thomas Thompson
>>127070345

I have very found memories of the original Time Machine. The remake as is so often the case splurged on the special effects but was still underwhelming.

Richard Rolen

Can't properly express the happiness it gave me to watch you watch the entire movie with your Spock ears on. Cassie you (and Carly when she's there...) never fail to delight! Thank you!!!

Marty McGee

Kirk: "Spock, where the hell's that power you promised me?" Spock: "One damn minute Admiral." Favorite line of the movie! Plus love Dr McCoy in the hospital raging about all the primitive medicine. Forgot how good this movie is. It's cheesy sure, and maybe a little preachy at times (though not as preachy as I remember). But it's also pure Star Trek. As others have mentioned, V is not great. But it too is pure Star Trek. I think you'll enjoy it. VI is one of the best.

Katie I'm glad you called Cassie out on 5 & 6! She has to watch those then watch the TV show. Also you and I think a like she HAS to watch Sarek AND Unification without question. Along with Farpoint of course. However Relics HAS to go in the must watch list (and you know why 😉) Cassie will never forgive us if she doesn't watch that one. And obviously Q-Who is like the "Space Seed" for TNG, we all know why 😉

>>127060181

My opinion is "no". I think release order is best. Honestly after Star Trek 8, the remainder of the films are pretty bad. She might be burnt out by then and will want a break. I know a lot of people love DS9, but it doesn't ramp up to any films. I mean I personally would LOVE for her to watch DS9 and Voyager, but the odds are low she will. Honestly I would really LOVE for her to watch Enterprise after TNG. Now that she has a lot (or will after TNG) Trek knowledge, a lot of the inside stuff on Enterprise will make sense. And everyone loves when T'Pol goes through Pon Far!!

Sample-Text

What you were told about Vulcans is accurate, but these movies are very early and some of the details are a little off. Some of the lore either hadn't been established yet or wasn't well represented.

>>127027960

Fair point, Mike. That was still kind of a joke. Everyone got something to do in this movie - one of the complaints by and for 'the secondary four' characters was they rarely got much stuff to do on the show. Jimmy had the most stuff, George was the loudest complainer, and Uhura seemed like she was always at her post (or absent entirely) yet Nichelle probably complained the least (ofc idk that for sure...)

Powers209

Cassie, I'm sure you've learned by now that you still have Trek 5 & 6 before the crossover. Trek 5: The Final Frontier is Meh in my book (2.5 out of 5). It's a little better than the first movie but Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country is Trek at its best. I would say that it's one of my favorite Trek movies. After Trek 6 you can dip into the very deep well of Next Gen Trek. I'm really looking forward to revisiting the show with you. Now I hate to inform you that JJ Abrams & Bad Robot along with Secret Hideout and Alex Kurtzman have damaged the Star Trek brand so much that I ignore their work. (IMO) thankfully not as bad as JJ & KK hurt Star Wars. I'm not saying don't watch their stuff but I would rather suffer hot needles poking my eyes than watch any woke Trek again. This was a great movie to watch this weekend. Thanks

Cassie, it should be pointed out, you can and probably SHOULD start the TNG series before you get to the end of the TOS cast movies. That was how it happened in real time, and how most Trekkies experienced the handoff between the two series. By the time "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" hit the box officer, we were already two seasons into the TV Series "Star Trek: The Next Generation".

As part of your reaction to the last original series movie (Star Trek VI, The Undiscovered Country), watch the 25th Anniversary Teaser Trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKfkkhEbUlY. It beautifully sums up how so many feel about Original Star Trek and is one of the best movie trailers ever made. NOTE: The teaser trailer for Star Trek VI has no scenes from the movie, just scenes from the original series and previous motion pictures, so no spoilers.

Agreed. I think DS9 and VOY are great, but dead ends. I would like to visit TOS “Menagerie” again to know the other captain of the Enterprise. But I would say a few TNG episodes, (2) TNG movies max (they aren’t stitched together like Khan - Voyage Home). Then the Kelvin movies with Chris Pine. Later, maybe Strange New Worlds. (I do hope we skip DIS and PIC for many reasons)

YodatheHobbit

That was a HELL of a lot of fun. I am also watching these movies in full for the first time with you, even though I've seen parts of them and know vaguely of some of the film's plots mostly from 90's HBO Free Preview weekends, I never really gave them a chance as both a kid and a teen. I would always come into Star Trek movies in the middle of them, context less, having no idea what was going on. I watched a few episodes of the Original TV series back in 2011 when I was camping with my parents believe it or not! It was pretty nice to get in my sleeping bad and watch a few episodes on Netflix on my phone before falling asleep. Not much else to do! I didn't finish the entire first season, I think I made it about 2/3's the way through, but I did get a little love of Kirk and Spock's friendship. I really felt it though in that episode where they went back in time as well as in these films. I can appreciate their comradery a lot more now at age 40.

>>127092355

You've got to do The Inner Light, or maybe watch all the TNG films and then watch The Inner Light and All Good Things as a kind of exit to the TNG universe.

Timothy Williams

Five is the least favorite of all the original cast movies but it does have its moments. The last movie with the original crew is actually Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country which is a great send off. Star Trek VII Generations is the passing of the torch, but the entire original crew is not there. That's what makes VI so special to me. I saw these all in theaters as they came out after watching the original series as a kid and then again in syndication.

David Fedor
>>127060181

Yeah, as much as i love DS9 (my favourite of all the treks) and Voyager, i think it would be way way way to much Trek for Cassie to indulge in in such a short time and lead to burnout. Maybe in a year or two she can revisit those series. Im sure after watching all these original cast episodes AND movies followed by TNG episodes and movies she will want to return to more variety movie offerings. Though heck, its her channel after all, she is free to watch ALL the trek in the world if it so pleases her lol I wouldnt mind ;)

Andrew Ramos

If you don't have time right now to watch the whole TNG series, skip TNG and watch the newer Star Trek movies. TNG is much too sacred to be diced and chopped up. It would be the biggest mistake the channel has ever made. Well besides reacting to Batman '89

Tony Olmos

cant wait till you get into the next generation think you love the characters

Wes

So there are 6 movies with the old crew. 5 is one of my least favorite but 6 is probably the one I like the most, right up there with Wrath of Khan. 7 is the crossover to TNG. 8, 9, & 10 are TNG crew exclusively, then 11 & 12 are the reboot from JJ Abrahms.

Mayan Luevano

Love this movie, I just love seeing the whole crew together, it’s like childhood all over again 🥹

Rodger Johnson

You could skip 5, but 6 is one of the best!

Pianodean

I'm sure many have already iterated...5 is next (it's the weakest one, but still fun) 6 is the final film with all the original cast and buckle UP for ST 6...it's kinda dark...the music score alone will creep you out. Now, I write this having sat thru my 3rd viewing of your full reaction...break time is over! ST 5...warp speed!

Keith Jacobsen

For the love of god, yes there's 6 with the TOS crew, you must watch 6, it's my personal favorite.

Cliff Stephenson
>>127437931

I don’t think 6 has aged terribly well. It actually looks really cheap, the effects have aged rather poorly, and the Scooby Doo mystery element feels clunky in retrospect. 5, for all it’s obviously problems, is actually far better shot (by Andrew Lazlo). The character compositions are gorgeous (Lazlo really knew how to use the whole frame). 5 also has (IMO) the absolute best overall Star Trek score by Goldsmith. Yes… 5 has serious story problems, but it also has some of the best character moments in the entire franchise. My hot take is that 5 is a lot better than people give it credit for and 6 is not nearly as great as people claim.

I haven’t seen this one in a looong time, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I might have been too young to really get it/ get into it before

Did you ever figure out what you know the blonde in The Voyage Home from? If not, she played the mom on 7th Heaven. The mom was in Star Trek IV and the dad was in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
