If the ball is in the hands of the shooter after the clock hits zero, the shot does not count; however, if the ball leaves the hands before 0 seconds, the shot counts even if the clock hits zero while the ball is in midair. Sometimes it's not clear, so the refs don't count it, or they do a review of the shot
