Black Wing - Process Video (Patreon)

So. Here we are. With Sea of Worry recording completed, I'm moving onto finishing up the next Black Wing album.I've had a variety of songs in various states for a while now - mostly just some riffs or pieces I like, a few songs with vocals, a few songs with vocal parts written but not recorded, etc.As I've come closer to actually working on it, I've decided to flesh out some of those ideas, kill most of them, and write some new stuff.

Getting back into the Black Wing head space has been a little more difficult than expected. I had some rough ideas for the record, but no real sense of what it would really sound like when I was done.So I've been using some of my studio time (coming in one night a week) to re-download broken patches, get my set up the way that I like, get the cobwebs out, as it were. Here you can see me messing around with some things I rarely use as I wait for about fifty million gigs of missing VSTs to download.Ended up liking the piece, even though it's extremely messy. The vocal parts I threw down here have potential, but I don't like most of the specifics (the lyrics I made up on the spot, my delivery, etc).

What I'll typically do at this point is download this song, listen to it a ton of times over the next few weeks, and write some parts in my head. Then I'll come back to it, clean it up, arrange it, etc.Hope you enjoy.
