Tim's wife Shauna recently unearthed some very early demos from our "Unsurvival Training" cassette.A bunch of those are out and about already, but this early demo of "Son in the Sun" I'm pretty sure has never been released anywhere.

It's really interesting to hear the different take on this song. This is much closer to the "original" version (which Tim and I would perform acoustically at coffeehouses and so on). There's some very clear transitioning happening between "old" and "modern" HANL here - the addition of electronic drums (played live on a keyboard), the addition of reverb, the relatively hiss-less production quality.

This is what the song had been up until this point, so hopefully that puts the version that made it's way onto Deathconsciousness in a bit more perspective; we were really trying to take a relatively "nice" sounding song and turn it sinister.I'll post some more of these very early tracks in the next few months.Meanwhile, we continue to be busy working on stuff in the background while we get ready for Sea of Worry to be released in November. Anything you guys want from that?d

would be cool to hear anything pertaining to Swords to Plowshares at some point, if anything else exists. or even a hasty re-recording for funsies. would also love to get a closer look at your gear (amps, pedals, instruments, etc etc) cause I'm a loser like that

it makes me appreciate the deathconsciousness one more

(It makes me think: I've been reading in and there for the past couples of months the notebooks left by Cioran when he died and it makes you wonder about the importance of material ghostly inscriptions that go into thinking & creating; the sheer amount of traces, variations and angsty corrections fading and dying into what the creator believes is his final oeuvre. I've always been interested in marginalias in literature, and demos in music are no exception.) It makes it all more ''real''. Can't wait for the other tracks to be released. Thanks D&T!

We had tentative plans to do more DC commentary last night, but heavy traffic got me in late and other podcasts came first on the stack.

I live for hearing these demos/early versions. I'd love to hear anything about Sisyphus/Stars and Air personally!
