Hellooooo!I've got a sneak peek for you all!   7 new pages of Cabin in the Woods, 1 new page of Devil's Due - but a BIG one story-wise this month!I've had a metaplot/origin idea in mind for the Cabin I've been brewing on for some time now, and I'm sharing that with you all in the story this month - again, like Jack says - take it with a grain of salt - it may not be completely accurate or be the FULL story, but here you go!But if you want the origins of the cabin to remain mysterious - skip this part ;)I hope you all enjoy it, however!Plus, one new page of Devil's Due!

Very interesting story! Makes me even more intrigued about this entire concept!

You could at least try talking to the dryad spirit. She can't blame all humans for the actions of a few. By doing so, she's no better than the ones who chopped her tree down in the first place. Now that they're aware, it's worth a shot.

Thorncalibur

I wonder if the tree stump (or whatever remains in place of the Ancient tree) is still around for the trio to find? EDIT: Also, since the magic heals wounds and disease, does that mean it can revive someone if they manage to die or take something that could be fatal (either by accident or intentionally)?

arania

Thank you so much! :D

Master-TF

The boar transformation looked very cool as well. Hope we get to see that happen to the new visitors (if you're still planning on doing that). Can't wait to see how long Carla can still hold out as well.

Jacob Voronkov

Also, would it kill the Dryad to install a television and a movie collection at this point?

arania

Glad you liked it! Boar TFs can be a lot of fun :). I am still planning on bringing in another pair of people - there's a point I want to get to in this first, however :)

arania

I haven't cemented this 100% either way yet, but I'd lean towards no on the reviving/healing fatal injuries. The original people did kill the tree and many of the animals that lived there.

Jacob Voronkov

Seriously. If she can conjure an entire stocked library, electrical power and indoor plumbing, a television and movies shouldn't be that far out of the ordinary. Especially since it's been around for nearly a century at this point. Think about it.

Master-TF

Very understandable. You're doing an amazing job so far and it's still my favorite series of yours!

Reverb

If the books are any indication, it'd probably just be pornos and animal documentary.

Does this explain why wolves and lions would mate with deers instead of trying to eat them? And why the loser of a stag rut would "submit to be mated with"?

Reverb

What page did they first find the journal?

arania

It was when they found Piper's stash

Reverb

Does this explain why wolves and lions would mate with deers instead of trying to eat them or did I miss something? And why would the loser of a stag rut "submit to be mated with"?

arania

Yeah, the ecology in this pocket dimension has been altered - they're able to tell on some level, partially by scent, and perhaps partially by some other way - the animals that were once human, and it will convert prey drive to mating drive. Likewise, since all once-humans are herm - it alters how mating behavior and ruts work. I've been trying to express that through the story without too much straight-out exposition.

Reverb

That explains how but not why. Why would the dryad alter it in this way?
