Every single mage has a Magus Arcanum; it is the first arcane artifact a mage is taught to forge. These magic books are infused with the spell casters quintessence and bound to them by magic spells, becoming more or less a part of them. A mage can feel their Arcanum, able to locate it if missing; though a sufficiently powerful magic user can severe the connection if they bring enough magic to bare on the artifact. Arcanum's can also be summoned to a magic user, it's physical properties being able to convert into mana and reconstitute elsewhere from mana. However this conjuring is mighty spell work. Only very powerful mages, sorcerers, wizards and spellbinders and very few clerics can do this.

A Magus Arcanum contains the total sum of knowledge a mage has incurred their life. It is a record of the adepts journey through the source in their dreams. It not only contains experiences and insights into those dreamscapes, but the foundations for the road maps back to the ideas encountered therein. With this information a mage can either by their self or with the help of a wordsmith, smithy incantations to invoke the ideas that they touched within the source. More than a book of spells, it is a record of ideas and it helps the mage not only remember the vast number of incantation's they've created; but help find their own pattern. The more understanding a mage has of their unconscious thinking, their dream mind, the better control they have over their manipulations of mana and quintessence in the waking world. It is the most important artifact any mage will ever own.
