The AI is so. insanely. powerful.

I really don't know how to feel about it anymore. I mean, it really helps a lot refining things and it makes your job easier. You also have no worries about using a googled picture and getting a copyright strike. Hell, make the AI generate the stuff you need and nobody is gonna sue you for theft.

But it's not about the images where the AI shines, its text generation. Storytelling. It is CRAZY.

I mean, I paid writers to write stories for me, about Altair and Hummer, seeking inspiration to draw short filler-chapters for my comic, and most of the stories I paid for were extremely generic with poor match of the characters personality, but I never blamed the writers: my characters are overly complicated after all and unless a writer is also a reader of my comic, it's almost impossible to get a good, usable story.

As you know, most of my comic is just a dream that I had, and developed it into a complex story. Every chapter, every season, started as a dream of some sort. Almost for fun, I fed the AI with a prompt. In my last dream, Altair and Hummer were at the town tavern, and heard a fisherman tell a story about the sighting of a sea monster. That was the prompt I fed the AI. Not a single extra word.

Then I described the characters: Altair - a moth-like robot, female, grumpy but lawful. Hummer - a moth-like robot, male, happy and cheerful, he's Altair's mate. Tarik - a fisherman.

The AI dropped a bomb. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. Every character was perfectly in-character. The AI guessed Altair's and Hummer jobs perfectly right, even if I never told it. And it figured out a decent ending to a dream that never had an ending. I am absolutely impressed by the ability of an AI to write weird stories. I probably solved my main problem with plot development: all of my dreams don't have an end, and many don't even make sense. The AI can help me give a sense to many nonsense I dreamed, and an ending to dreams that I never figured out how to end. This means I have literally infinite possibilities with future development of my story. I can add chapters that I cut because I couldn't get the dream right for example.

And then I found out that AI can also write songs. Complete songs. I was like, what the heck. I tried, and it works. It's still limited: for example it can't generate my favorite genre, progressive dream and melodic trance so I have very little use for it. It also has issues giving a mood to a song (the AI doesn't have any idea about what makes a song "happy" or "sad")... but! I asked it to make me a metal song about my next artwork (I'll start working on it very soon) and oh... I am fairly impressed. It makes my ears bleed like most metal songs but it's still a decent song for its genre!

To me AI generated music just sounds terrible. The vocals aren't defined at all, the music sounds very wishy washy with no details to it. It makes sense why it's so flat and lacks details, it's just averaging tons of songs and spitting out some mix of them all. I'm no audiophile, but it makes me feel like how audiophiles react to terrible phone speakers ^^" What really annoys me tho is that there are people who just upload this generated slop onto Spotify and brag about making money with it. That's money that should've gone to the artists, who dedicate their entire live to their craft. Not whatever bedroom teenager spend 10 minutes coming up with a prompt...
