Suggestions for their replacements?

P.S. Super sorry about the lack of "The Hunt for Red October" the last couple days. Dummy's been MIA over the weekend. Should be up in a couple of days.

A L

The X-files. I'm rewatching now myself.

Liam

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia or The Good Place 👀

Dean Cyphers

Hmmm I’ll throw in sons of anarchy or the 100?

Jamie Roberts

You need to watch Succession on HBO, you would love it. It’s basically the early seasons of Game of Thrones set in a modern media corporation. Power struggles, backstabbing and plays for the “throne”. There’s only two seasons, 10 episodes each so far but it quickly became one of my favourite shows of all time. Plus, it’s got Brian Cox from Deadwood and he plays a character I know you would instantly fall in love with.

Michael

Throwing a weird one out there: Turn: Washington's Spies. It's imperfect, but there's a lot to like. It's a period series about spies during the American Revolution, very very loosely based on some real life badassery, ran for 4 seasons, and has some pretty tense espionage and brutal decisions and some action that I think could grab your interest. I did kind of a binge of it early in the quarantine last year. It's on Netflix.

This show was the only show in the world to me for a period in my youth. This and MST3k are the only live action things I watched with any kind of regularity. I'd love to see Jimmy watch it, but wish I could tell him it ends strongly...

David
>>61028383

I'm pretty sure he's watched IASIP, but The Good Place is great.

Joseph LeRoy

Ray donovan. Sons of Anarchy. White Collar. Suits. Lie to Me. Psych. Animal Kingdom.

Light Yagami

I know comedy isn’t really your lane but my pick would be the office. Legendary show, super funny with a lot of heart and it only gets better. I remember you did a reaction request for the pilot and really seemed to like it, I think you said you haven’t watched it though besides that episode, right? But yeah that’s my vote

Nerd Going Outside

I really think you'd dig Sons of Anarchy. Like, a lot. Great show, great performances, and a lot of fun. I also saw someone else suggest Hell on Wheels, and that's a good suggestion too. Criminally under watched show.

Susan Drysdale

Hell on Wheels, The Americans, Suits, White Collar, Revenge, Arrow.

Now and Again

The Americans, Atlanta, Luther, and Counterpart are some solid dramas. Burn Notice, White Collar and Chuck are some more light-hearted shows with decent action. And while I know you haven’t reacted to many comedies in the past, Community and Ted Lasso are two that I think could be good for reactions.

Kb

Atlanta

Stefanniko

Ray Donovan, it's always sunny in philadelphia, or the good place very different vibes haha but great tv

AgentFalcon

Community or Stargate SG1

MrEvers

I'd say Counterpart, gotta continue that JK Simmons high. The Good Place, if you want something more lighthearted. Dark, amazing amazing show, but perhaps a bit too depressing for your likes.

Garmonbozia93

Twin Peaks, The Office (UK Version), The Americans, Barry

Ted Cali

Going to take a turn and suggest Barry. At once, one of the funniest, one of the most depressing, one of the most violent, one of the most awkward shows I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, and Bill Hader knocks it straight out of the fucking park. Plus, it is currently only two short seasons, so you can do something else in relatively short succession.

Chris

Sons of Anarchy is a personal favorite, i have a feeling you'd love it. And to throw something a bit different out there, maybe Barry, a dark comedy from hbo

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

I have two suggestions: 1) The Americans. Fantastic drama/action series. Summary: At the height of the Cold War two Russian agents pose as your average American couple, complete with family. 2) Homicide: Life on the Street. The precursor to The Wire. It's based on the book by David Simon, who would eventually go on to create The Wire. The series follows the homicide unit of the Baltimore police department. The first two seasons only have 13 episodes in total, so it's a minimal commitment to see if you like it.

Dave

The Terror (Season 1)

Dave

Firefly

Ben Trotter

The Americans. Gangs of London is great and was created by the guy who directed The Raid movies and has a similar feel to it.

Jed U

Other people have mentioned them, but The Americans, Dark, and Sons of Anarchy are pretty great and are right up your wheel house. Would also like to throw Orphan Black out there as another one you'd probably enjoy (maybe with the whole crew)

Dave

Utopia (UK Version)

outdoorcats

The Americans for sure. Think the writing and acting of Mad Men mixed with the ruthlessness of The Sopranos. If you're looking for something shorter, Barry and Atlanta are two great shows you could watch quickly.

Tim Itnyre

Sons of Anarchy, the Good Place, or Ray Donovan. To be honest, Sons of Anarchy practically seems made for you and is packed with stuff that I know you'll love seeing. The Good Place is very different from everything that you typically watch, but it's one of those shows that becomes clear the creators were planning things out far in advance. And Mr Robot is a magnificent show with fantastic acting and a vibe that's unlike any other show on television. Any or all of these three would be a fantastic choice.

Anonymous

Mr. Robot. My personal number #1 of all time.

MonarchMello

1: Warrriors: Action/Drama Series about being a Chinese Hatchet Man! 2: Always Sunny in PA: One of my favorite Comedy Series out there. 3: Atlanta: Has some wild and crazy moments.

geoff woyce

1. Sons of Anarchy, 2. The Americans, 3. Ray Donovan

Unbeheld

1. Counterpart ( Spy/Thriller/Sci fi). It is perhaps one of the most creative and fascinating show that has come out in a long while. It's led by JK Simmons along with an incredible cast of characters. The premise is fascinating, the acting is great, the writing is excellent. The reason nobody saw the show is because it aired on Starz and really wasn't promoted. It's two seasons but the writers had a chance to wrap things up nicely when told it wasn't getting renewed. 2. Warrior (Banshee's pulpier cousin). Based on the writings of Bruce Lee, led by the guys who made Banshee (along with their incredible stunt team), it's over the top but fun like Banshee. Some familiar faces migrated as well (like Job and the bad ass marine colonel). Show is worth the watch for the fight scenes alone. It was 2 seasons and was fated to die from being on Cinemax (as they are moving away from original programming) but through sheer fan demand HBOMax renewed it and a 3rd season is currently shooting. 3. Jett (female Lucas Hood). Led by Carla Gugino and Giancarlo Esposito, she'd be the female version of Lucas Hood. Yet another unfortunate victim of being on Cinemax. Sadly unlike Warrior, there doesn't seem to be a lifeboat for a second season by other networks. Still for a single 9 episode season it's definitely worth the time investment as it gives off the Justified/Banshee vibes. 4. Mr Inbetween. This show is just different. It's sort of like Umbre (Romanian) which follows the daily life of a hitman (in this instance being an Australian). It's at times beyond hilarious, sad, way too realistic. Led by a protagonist where you truly don't know how to feel about him. It's really engrossing. Besides, you'll get to catch up with Dewie Crow as a strip club owner that gives shady jobs to our main guy Ray. 2 seasons available, 3rd and final seasons airing currently. The shows I recommend are definitely less mainstream but considering the other shows you've liked in the past, any of these would be a great replacement (especially since it's not a huge time investment).

Krieger

Turn: Washington’s Spies. Great political and spy drama set during the revolution

xeitroen

I would avoid Sons of Anarchy, personally. One of those shows that doesn't maintain its early quality and thats always disappointing. The Good Place, Mr Robot or Barry would be my top choices. The Americans isnt a bad shout at all also.

Just When I Thought I Was Out...

The Americans is the answer for you. Remember it being pretty close on the last pole. The Anti-Television show, and I am confident that the two main players have a good shot at your list. I also think, and I mentioned this before to you, Gomorrah and ZeroZeroZero are something you'd highly enjoy. I at least wanted to get them on your radar. As gritty as gritty can get. Both fantastic shows. With your boys, I think Succession would be the perfect choice. Two seasons in and quickly becoming HBO's biggest show and has the cultural momentum, so that helps too. It's written superbly and is filled with entertaining characters. I also think Barry would be a great choice for the group. Also two seasons in. But for you, it has to be The Americans. You're ready for it considering what else you have watched. None of your expectations will be met, and yet you will be completely invested in the journey. Has maybe the best 2 lead characters combo of any show out there.

dbnu

Taboo - Starring Tom Hardy. Only one season currently with future seasons coming. "1814: James Keziah Delaney returns to London from Africa and is encircled by conspiracy, murder and betrayal." Luther - "A dark psychological crime drama starring Idris Elba as Luther, a man struggling with his own terrible demons, who might be as dangerous as the depraved murderers he hunts." 5 Seasons - 20 Episodes total. Psych - If you want something with non-stop goofy/dumb jokes (good though) and lots of themed episodes based on other shows/movies. Maybe a good pallet cleanser from all the dark serious stuff? Fun show. Firefly (in correct order) The Americans Barry Succession

Robert Kruger

The Americans is the clear choice. If you wanted to do something funny and short, A Touch of Cloth has a total of 7 episodes, all are great fun and they have the same type of humor you enjoyed from Hot Fuzz. You could knock them out in no time and have a blast.

Anonymous

Barry, bill haders dark comedy show.

T0ast
>>61028642

OK thank you for recommending this as well., basically nobody has reacted to Succession, and it is HBO's best show airing right now. Tons of competent characters as well which I know Jimmy loves. Modern Day Game of thrones with basically the Lanister family as the main characters.

T0ast
>>61031327

I also recommend The Americans it has great writing, characters, and action.

Tom Fehr

Succession is elite. Sons of Anarchy has ups and downs but it has a lot of moments that would be elite JImmy reactions so it'd be a good one to do.

Tom Fehr

also Mare of Easttown is 7 episodes and AWESOME.

Constantine

Bosch. REALLY good cop show with a ton of dudes from The Wire. Based on some books by Michael Connely.

Agnieszka Pienczykowska

Counterpart, Dark, The Good Place, Mare of Easttown, The Outsider, American Gods, Brooklyn99, The Nevers (when it's done)

Drew

Gangs of London, Gangs of London, Gangs of London. It's a british gangster series by the guy who did the Raid films. I shouldn't have to say more.

Light Yagami

I thought I commented earlier not sure if it posted or not don’t see it now but my vote would be the office I think you would love it

Ninaofthe90s

I recommend Dark on Netflix. Incredibly complicated show, but soooo worth it. And even better after you have already seen Lost. My other suggestion would be Mr Robot.

Drew

The Americans and Hell on Wheels.

xeitroen

Little disappointed in the lack of Mr Robot love in here. Its right up there in quality as one of the better shows of all time.

JD

Hell on wheels is a good watch. Though it took me until season two before I really got invested.

Ninaofthe90s

I wish you hadn't watched The Last Kingdom on your own 😔 I was looking forward to that reaction for years and thought it was perfect after Vikings ended. (so much better than Vikings even). I thought finally someone can react to this show! Maybe you can react to season 5 when it comes out?

Just When I Thought I Was Out...

I’ll just be the long shot guy and along with Gomorrah and ZeroZeroZero, which are great vibe shows, add Industry on hbo. All the vibes in a different way. I like good vibes I guess.

Ashley

1) SONS OF ANARCHY would be my #1 choice for you. The pitch: Yes, it’s one of the great shows of my life, And yea you get the adrenaline and violence; a number of mostly-naked chicks and legit hilarious gold; A Cersei-esque mayriarch, BUT it is everything because of how Kurt Sutter wrote the arcs. Brotherhood; family. Loved ones. Hate and revenge.. Which made for gutting points of drama. Not seen many shows land the ending from ep 1. But SONS does. You should get decent views on YT. It is fan-fav show RUNNERS UP: Yea will admit seeing you react to DARK would be a trip. I’m hear for it. Shows that might not get tracktion on YR, but is damn good: The Americans. Succession is also a HBO homerun. I could go more but not sure what ur vibing🤙🏼

Michal Nielsen

boardwalk empire - cant remember if you did that one back in the day.

Michal Nielsen

seemed to recall something about it - been a long while tho :D oh well.

Michal Nielsen

babylon 5 is probably my favourite sci-fi of all time - can't decide if that is something for Jimmy tho - but there is certainly a couple of really interesting characters in it :-) only about 5 season and a couple of movies so is not that big of an undertaking

geoff woyce
>>61066891

Sons of Anarchy should be next. If we are putting out options that Jimmy would like he has said many times that The Shield is one of his all time fav shows and thats the show that SOA creator Kurt Sutter came from.

Orphan Black and Penny Dreadful

Ram

Going with 2 international shows. Dark and Money Heist(La Casa de Papel). Dark is from Germany, Money Heist from Spain.

Ninaofthe90s

How about Lucifer? Have you seen it, or watching it? I always wondered why no reactions!

Jamie Howitt

The Americans, Mr. Robot, Dark. 100%. Seen the Americans on a poll before but it always gets edged out by something else sadly, and Mr. Robot and Dark are just fantastic shows with good mysteries/twists.

Reaction Junkie

Snowpiercer on Netflix is a really good watch too. The second season is out and it's got Sean Bean!!!

Liam

Barry

Anaïs

Billions and The Mentalist are nice shows to get picked up also. Billions is a drama about power politics, in high finance with Chuck, an attorney ambitious vs Axe, a hedge fund king. The Mentalist is about a brilliant consultant, Patrick, who can solve crime in a quite unique manner, specially because of his blatant lack of protocol...

Ninaofthe90s
>>61259368

Patrick Jane is one of his top 50 characters of all time....so I guess he has seen The Mentalist 😉
