Greetings, club members!,We have a couple of announcements for this month. First and foremost, as we’ve done in the past, our team will be taking a month off in June, which means we won’t have any new updates coming out this month. However, we’ve got some exciting things in store, including an upcoming glow-up for everyone’s favourite dragon gal, Alisha, courtesy of an anonymous commissioner! Stay tuned for more from that spicy dragoness in the near future, along with a special update in July. The second announcement might be a bit tougher to hear, but we trust you’ll be on board with us. Over the past nine amazing years of our games being live, we’ve managed to keep our prices the same across the board while regularly pushing new updates and ensuring our team is paid a decent wage for their efforts. This includes through a global pandemic and assorted economic crises that tightened a lot of belts everywhere. In the past years, we’ve also been hit with rising taxes in our host country of the Netherlands, along with general rising costs and increased costs of living for our team. On top of that, this past year we’ve replaced our aging network hardware to an in-house server, improving game stability and performance. Due to all of this, we’ve determined it’s necessary to finally give our prices a small bump across the board so that we can keep things running, make sure everyone is still being paid fairly, and continue producing the content that you all enjoy. With that in mind, here’s what the new structure will look like:Bronze tier will increase from $1 to $1.50Silver tier will increase from $2.50 to $3.75Gold tier will increase from $10 to $15In-game coin bundles will all see a price increase as well in proportion to the Patreon tiers. These changes will come into effect after the June billing cycle, so all current patrons won’t be charged the increased amount until July. All current Patreon coin rewards will remain the same, however, access to the subscriber exclusive VIP island will change in the future. In the coming months, we will begin to make more Patreon only characters, which will be available at different tiers. We want to offer value to all our patrons, with increasing rewards at higher tiers beyond just the in-game coins. To implement this, Bronze and Silver passes will each get their own Patreon pass accessible areas, while the existing VIP island will become exclusive to Gold pass holders. For the time being, Bronze and Silver pass holders will still have access to the current VIP island as we work on new content. Naturally, Gold and Silver pass holders will have access to the tiers below as well.We understand that these are some big changes, but we will as ever strive to produce content that you all will love, and we hope you’ll continue to support us as we aim at our exciting new goals! As a small thank you and for a bit of action in June, all of our free seasonal characters will be available for the full month. In addition, the backstage pass for Twyla’s bonus scene will be available for purchase from Samuel in the fountain plaza until June 30th. Enjoy the month, and see you in July!As always, thank you all for your support of our game, and look forward to more content!Kind Regards,The Furry Beach Club Teamwww.furrybeachclub.comwww.patreon.com/furrybeachclubwww.simtoysinteractive.comSupport the Furry Beach Club Project by purchasing coins and/or becoming a Patreon.Skip the wait and enjoy unlimited coins with Furry Beach Club’s Platinum Patreon Tier!Replay dates, fast-track progress, and get early access to new content.

It's understandable, I'm just going to sit back and see what happens. Then I'll make the final call on my end

"The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for subscribing at higher tiers." The price increase I could understand, but, and I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, locking content that your players could previously access at bronze tier($1/mo) to being gold tier only($15/mo) is just goofy. This is where I'm gonna have to dip. Good luck to y'all.

Hello, The bronze tier is going to get its own characters. In the meantime until that happens we are going to continue to allow access so nobody misses out on VIP content.

Anon 26182

Yes, I saw that part as well. I appreciate that recent updates have been more geared to extra scenes with existing characters that don't require extra coins to access, but with this update, it's shifting it to make coins less valuable, and make it so subscribing for much more than just using coins would cost is the main way to access new content. So subscribers, and also players who have stocked up on coins so they don't need to actively pay to keep updated, are now getting much less bang for their buck. I don't see myself justifying paying the monthly fee to stay up to date on this game, especially since this update is making it feel like the playerbase is large enough that the main creative direction of the game is how to find ways to convince already paying players to pay more, rather than on the content itself, or bringing in new players, so I will be heading out myself. Again, best of luck.

I fully understand how you feel about the little content updates in the past however we plan to make up by switching towards monthly updates for Patreon later this year once our schedule cleared. The price change is absolutely needed to cover expenses as mentioned in the post.

In my opinion, these prices are acceptable because they have not increased that much. I will continue to support them and I am curious about these new things that are to be introduced.

Thank you for your support and understanding! ❤️

So, I think everyone is on the same page about price increases generally. Stuff happens, inflation exists, and sometimes you have to make changes. No problem. The issue here is really the implementation, and more specifically, the removal of content for lower tiers. You mention there will be small changes in pricing for each tier, and on a surface level this is true (50% increase for each tier). However, this is a disingenuous way of presenting the change since, while there is a flat 50% increase across the board to keep the same *tier*, for silver and bronze to keep the same *content* they've had for the past 5+ years there is a 500% and whopping 1400% increase, respectively. That is NOT a small change, and this move feels very... cynical, to put it lightly. And on a surface level, I get it. At the proposed rates, if one silver bumps up to gold, three other silvers could drop their subs entirely and you'd still come out ahead, and I'd guess you're also operating under the assumption that more members would stay at their current tier rather than dropping entirely anyway. I think this is a bit shortsighted. There's been a steady decline in membership over the past 6-8 months, and I definitely don't see that changing under the new model since at least some people that may have been on the fence will now leave as well. As the former 1s and 2s trickle out, this puts more weight on the 15s to keep the income stable. To be blunt, I'm not sure you'll be able to create what feels like a $15 value over the next few months, so if the 15s start to trickle out after you've already had the earlier attrition you may be in deeper trouble than when you started. I would have done things differently, and I think it's important to not just look at the rate of increase, but also the gross. As a silver member, I'd probably be willing to pay around $5 for the value of the current tier with the current benefits. This is a 100% increase as opposed to 50%, but what my bank account feels is a $2.50 difference, which still feels similarly negligible to $1.25, is less than the $5 50% increase for gold, and is certainly less than the $12.50 increase from current silver to future gold. Considering people seem to be amenable to a general price increase, I think you could instead do something like Bronze: $2-3; Silver: $4-5; Gold: $12-13, which would net you more money from your most likely scenario (staying in the same tier) without creating the negative emotion associated with removing benefits from a tier. You could also add additional perks to gold like early access or a new location that allows access to free seasonal characters at all times of the year to incentivize higher subscriptions without expressly locking members out of content. It's always better to add than subtract and those features seem fairly easy to implement. At the very least, if you are committed to the proposed changes, I think there needs to be further clarification on what exactly each tier will be receiving, and at what frequency. More specific than "new characters" or "it's a surprise but you'll like it :)". If you're making sweeping changes like this, I think there needs to be a roadmap so people know exactly what they're paying for. (to be blunt again, I think at this point it would also make sense to consider winding down GMQ and focusing that time and effort into FBC. I understand why you don't want to do that though) Not necessarily as important, but I also question the decision to use the Patreon notification as an image. I think what you were going for was "Look how long we've gone without changing the rates!" but it came off more to me as "The zillion dollar corporation that takes a cut of our subscription fees suggested we try to squeeze more money out of you and WE AGREE :D". Readings may vary, but I don't think it's helping. Ultimately, everything is still your decision, but I hope this at least provided some additional perspective.

FBC

Thank you so much for your detailed response and opinion on this. We are reading it over and will get back to you on this.

My main concern is the slowing rate of content updates, and essentially being asked to keep giving more for less (if trends don't change). Multiple monthly updates have been delayed of late for differing reasons, and that is to be expected, delays happen. My concern is this, I am a gold subscriber and while I am willing to absorb the cost increase for the moment (I have enough disposable income at least for now.) I can't help but notice that you are now asking for the same as some subscription services (streaming, MMOs, and other entertainment.) I just hope to see some kind of improvements coming, and I am even willing to let you pick the metrics you want to be graded on. Not only that, but I just know I am not the only one starting to do the normal entertainment hours/dollar math equation in my head after seeing the new prices, especially when the VIP island has languished for months with no updates. I can't justify to myself paying extra for sparse content that I knocked out in less than an hour. Having said that, however, I am excited to see the new VIP island content you have in the pipe.

FBC

Thank you for your response. We are addressing the concern around content right now. There will be a update about this today.

FBC

Hi Pierce, We have posted a poll to address concerns about content updates. We'd love to hear from you too in the poll if interested.

FBC

Hi ArmoredOpossum, We just posted a poll to address the concerns regarding content update. If interested would you mind letting us know trough the poll what you prefer?

FBC

Hi Anon, We just introduced a poll to address concerns regarding content updates. If interested, would you mind letting us know trough the poll what you prefer?

Anon 26182

Aye. This is appreciated.

ArmoredOpossum

Yep, done. Appreciate you setting something up to consolidate feedback.

FBC

No problem! Your solid feedback and that of everyone who posted helped us out to realize a few flaws in the current plan. Unfortunately we cant do much about the price changes but I can assure you that we will be shifting our full focus towards Patreon once the current planned updates are done (which will be soon).

FBC

Glad to hear! We are looking forward to read your input on this.

I'll be really blunt about this, if you guys struggle to get 1 character date out per month, I don't see that changing so you can provide extra content to higher tiers. At one point there were two updates per month plus the occasional change in Glory Hole characters. Both of those stopped and now updates are coming 1-2 weeks into the following month, which inevitably leads to you guys "skipping" a month to get caught up. If my instincts are right, we "only" get 9-10 updates per year at this point. I get this is a side gig and none of you are likely doing this for a primary income, but the death knell of art as a whole is and always has been the deadlines. Having worked with cover artists to get covers on books for years, I know that's the consistent problem. The work can't only get done when you're "feeling it" and people get irritated when everything is consistently late. As it is, Seiko's third date should've been out a week ago, and it's still not up. Now it'll be released as the "May" update in the middle of June. I suspect most of us are here because the game gives us more than just the furry sex, there's a sense of romance and connection with the characters before the boinking begins. That takes time to put together, but the longer the gaps between content, the more people will drop off and look elsewhere. I don't know if it's a coordination thing between all the creatives, but deadlines have GOT to become a priority or you're going to lose subscribers, particularly if you ask for more money. Now, question for you: does the game store data like which scenes are being most accessed by players? If so, this should be your gauge for what to replicate/expand on rather than doing polls. Polls only get answered by people who see them and bother with them, and they are therefore easily skewed or manipulated. That's how you end up with multiple pegging scenes in a 4-month stretch. Squeaky wheel and all that. Full disclosure, I am a Silver Tier supporter, and will continue to be. But I'd certainly like to see more consistent updates and a broader range of who's getting them, i.e. the Second/Third dates should be in addition to newer characters if possible.
