excellent shots aside, i think this was the episode that really cemented how excellently weaved this story is. everything that happened in the house along with their dad's refual to say anything (on their mother's death/their childhood) caused so much resentment to build up that the difference between the family and how they interact in the first storm at hill house vs the one at nell's funeral is just...wow.

I still get emotional at the end when Nell is standing there next to the casket and you hear a young Nell saying “I was right here the whole time, nobody could see” because that’s how she felt. all she wanted was for her family to pay attention and honor Nell at the wake but they were too busy arguing with eachother that they forgot she was even there. I said it once and i’ll say it again, the jump scares are scary but it’s so much deeper than just a ghost story…this is an emotional story of a broken family.

I never realized that the majority of the episode was one continuous shot. That's a lot of pre-shoot work and rehearsals to get that right. I love this show!

I for some reason never watched this show when it came out, but as soon as I saw on twitter that you were reacting to it I quickly watched it all so I could join your patreon and see your reaction. I watched The Haunting of Bly Manor shortly after it came out and so I knew the type of show this would be, but I did not expect it to turn into one of my favorite tv shows ever. The storylines, acting, shots. Seeing you enjoy it so much as well makes me so happy and I'm so glad I came over to your patreon because I have been meaning to for some time now.
