actually crazy how hard it is to find a reference of him with his mouth closed lol.

This is an interesting drawing because its a flesh.png fabrication. It is from a photo as of yesterday but I wanted him to be wearing something else so he would match my charles drawing and also wanted to make his hair long so I just sorta did. A likeness that could be from a few months ago but is actually from a recent photo. Interesting.

It also was incredibly hard to draw for some reason. You would think after my Aurora drawing that I would be sufficiently "warmed up" with rendering skin but his was giving me so much trouble. I will blame the reference for that as well. Too much contrast and also not enough. Curse his youthful skin perhaps. NEED MORE WRINKLES. More planes of the face!! No I'll blame the lighting of the reference. This drawing is quite a lot more rendered than the charles one which isnt ideal for consistency but perhaps this means I need to CHILL out and perhaps draw something less rendered next. I want to draw a car....

That being said, I am happy how it turned out. And just in time for spanish gp.

ive been using mister sainz for rendering practice and ive learned painting stubble is not for the faint of heart,, but u nailed it

THANK U!! I dont know if ive ever done this much stubble before..I think i usually just paint a 5 o'clock shadow-esque color over the area (which is SUCH a good shortcut) and then draw like 5 hairs. But he had so many hairs and the portrait was already pretty detailed it would be weird to not draw more hairs...

I had the same problem!! it looked wrong to just block it out, but when I added individual hairs it felt like too many lines, and then I was stuck in a vicious cycle

i made the hairs lighter than his actual hairs but still always darker than the skin underneath and i think that helped. then it sort of just looks like texture. i also used a pencil sort of brush that has texture so its a bit more forgiving. i hope you ended up sorting it out !
