Hi again gamers and lovers of gaming...and...everyone else..

Here is a high quality, epic version of my just-posted Valentino Rossi drawing. I watched one single video about him on youtube and then drew this because the bike was cool and that's ALL I know about anything motogp related so we CANNOT bond about it!!!!

But I did take quite a bit of process photos while I drew this so lets look at them.

I wanted this to be super abstract but as you can tell, that did not really happen (in terms of shapes). But this is the sketch.

Pretty cool pretty much how I ended up inking it in the end! But after this I DOUSE it in fluorescent green posca marker.

Then, I look at the fact that I have a giant white posca now, and that possesses me to make the background white once more... Return it to its original state

Then, I decide that this green background will act as the yellow of my reference image, and thus I continue to color all other livery with detail-tip poscas

This stage was SUPER ugly but never give up!!! Then once I had all the color like so...I begin to ink on top.

I sorta like this semi-unfinished stage... anyways! That's that really. I kept the shadows super solid black while also balancing being able to see the shapes underneath and around it. the middle section of the bike.? The hump??? Where the gas go??? I darkened a lot of that with hatchy marks to make the driver pop and differentiate those objects.

THATS THAT!!!! Have a gr8 day

The way you color is so different to how I usually color, I'm learning so much with these posts. Going straight to vibrant colors, not being scared to layer some colors on top of each other. I love it, it's bold. I'm inspired by it, makes me want to try it out myself!! Thanks for sharing your process with us

vaguetype

this is the coolest fuckin color palette

i wish more moto sports would lean into bright colors… like they already do quite a bit but still not enough imo.. if i ever turn the entire trajectory of my life around and break into moto sport historically late in the game, i will hire you as my creative director

Seeing flesh.png Valentino Rossi was surely not on my 2024 bingo card but this is cool as hell (i am italian and he used to be super big when i was very little like kindergarten/elementary school times and i loved him bc big curly hair. Tbh i had no idea he still raced i thought he'd retired???? but i know nothing at all about moto gp so i will not say anything else abt this)

Also this is truly amazing your process is so cool. I could never our artist brains work SO differently when it comes to approaching color. I love love love how u do it most of all the way u do solid black shadows with that much confidence like wow!!!!!

flesh.png

i think he is retired yes!! from what i know he is sorta extremely cool icon icon. and thank you so much!! whenever i see another artists process it rly is so interesting even if it isnt to themselves.. and about the shadows: thank you! ive always LOVED how comic book artists have super big blocks of shadow i think i subconsciously try to emulate that feel :-)

I also love it so much but i lack the confidence to be so bold. Maybe i just need to work a lil bit more on having a little more solid drawing base to achieve that. Who knows! Still, always love to see it and u do it magically

I love seeing your process it reminds me to just go a bit crazy and have fun in my sketchbook! I was wondering what sketchbook you're using, as I've been looking for one that can hold more materials like poscas/markers :))
