Hi patrons,

Here is one more drawing of lewis hamilton and you know what? I'll share a process with you as well because it was sort of a doozy.

First of all, in reality it is pink, but this blue goes better with my previous VERY GREEN drawings of lewis hamilton of yore.

It started out with a crude sketch which I douse with fluorescent pink posca marker. See the image below:

Then, on top of this I sketched lewis out more better-er. HOWEVER....After this, I covered it in even more pink posca. This was intentional, because then I do my final ink on top. HOWEVER... I have a new large pink posca marker and it was VERY JUICY. When I went over my new beautiful sketch (not pictured), the most important part, the face, smudged horrifically. Here is that image:

This was a catastrophe, my perfect and beautiful lines were now an incomprehensible schmear. I closed my book calmly and avoided it for 18 hours.

When I came back I did my best to salvage what I had here, and decided to carve out his silhouette once more, to the best of my ability:

With pencil, I lightly indicated some lost areas of information, and now I will begin my final inking.

I did something unique this time and decided to do a layer of midtones!!! This would help me get more detail. I like how it looks at this stage...

I used a GRAY brush pen for this, one of those more detailed soft-nib brush pens (not bristles). It provided an excellent base.

On top of this, I used a black brush pen with bristles that allows SMUDGING (purposeful this time) that was very cool and fun. For some areas of the lower half (hatching) I used a chisel tip calligraphy pen to indicate more areas of value.

Then I scanned it and made it blue! Thats all!

I just love seeing the layers of hatchings. From the bold posca, to the subtle grays, it is so satisfying to look at
